BRIANNA didn't like life, sometimes. She realized this as she and her mother had a huge fight that afternoon. Brianna stormed out of the house at a slight run, her eyes wet with tears. Yes, she was only twelve, but it was heartbreaking how much she hated fighting with her mother. Poor girl. They barely did it.
Brianna was now walking along to the park, breathing in and out heavily. Eventually she threw herself onto a swing, and began to swing back and forth, higher and higher. Taking a deep breath, Brianna waited until she was up before she jumped off the swing.
Surprisingly, she landed on her feet but, losing her balance, she ended up sprawling on the grass, laughing hard at her own stupidity. I mean, seriously! Who did that? Jump of a swing, land on feet, and then fall? But her thoughts were interrupted. Seeing a shadow fall over her, Brianna sat up.

Leonardo very rarely went for walks on his own. It's not that he wasn't allowed, or that he was afraid. It was more to the fact that Time Travel confused him. He knew the 'Rules' but was always so confused as to when they applied. He mostly preferred to stay on board the TARDIS. It had once been his grandmother, Maria's. He loved putting his hands into The TARDIS. Granted that seemed like a rather intimate way to put it. But The TARDIS was alive. so in a way, it was very intimate. He was great with his hands, loving to make repairs and make The TARDIS run more efficiently.
So.... What made him decide to leave the familiar corridors of the ship? He wasn't sure. Maybe the Wanderlust bug had finally bit him. He packed up a small satchel bag, not really sure why he would need the items he was putting into it: pliers, some spare wire, something similar to duct tape, and some things that even he couldn't name.. He knew what they were for, just not what they were called. That was the trouble with being a genius. He knew how things worked and that's what was important. Who cared what it was called.
He was walking along a sidewalk when he came across a playground and stared at the random assortment of oddities in the yard. What was the point of these things? In his defense, he was raised inside a TARDIS. He had no idea was a slide or a see-saw, or a swing was for. That's when he noticed a blonde girl with strange pink highlights in her hair. Her hair fascinated him. Everyone in his family had either black or dark brown hair. He thought that was the only hair color there ever was. But, this bright golden hair? The way it caught the sunshine made it look like was it was made of gold.
But what the heck was she doing? He watched her on the swing, swinging herself higher and higher. The strange contraption made his head tilt. What was the purpose of making yourself go so high if you were only going to come back down and go in the opposite direction? But then he watched her jump while at the high point of the upward swing and his hearts nearly went into his throat. Was she out of her mind?
He dashed from the fence over to her but slowed his steps when he heard her laughing. Was.. that a normal reaction to trying to kill yourself??? He stood over her, the sun behind him, casting his shadow over her, his inhumanly bright green eyes hidden in the shadow cast over his own face. His eyebrows were raised in confusion, his long bangs sweeping over his face in the soft breeze. His accent was distinctly English with the soft hint of the French mingled in. "Are you alright?"
Brianna sat up properly to look up at the boy, her eyes scanning over him. She couldn't see his eyes, but she could see the rest of him. He seemed slightly...worried about her? That was a strange feeling to Bri, since she had only had her mother worrying about her before.
Nonetheless, she nodded her head. "Oui, I'm fine." she said, smiling, a bit of French coming out, as it sometimes decided to. "Just a bit of a stumble, is all. she added. Brianna shifted a bit on the ground, so that when she got up she wouldn't hit him, then she got to her feet.
"You saw all that, non? Me jumping off the swing, being crazy, I mean." she said. Brianna didn't really know why some of her words always ended up coming out French. They just did. But Bri didn't really notice, anymore. She just spoke, and whenever the words came out, she just let them be. After all, what did it matter? What was the point in trying to teach herself to stop, non?
Brianna then realized she was being extremely rude and not introducing herself. "Forgive my manners, i forget things sometimes! I'm Brianna. What's your name?" she asked, grinning sheepishly as in a way of apology. She mentally kicked herself, in her head. Stop rambling, Brianna, stop rambling! she thought to herself.
The boy heaved a sigh on relief when she confirmed she was unhurt.. But his ears perked when she said 'Oui'. He couldn't help but grin from ear to ear as he bent down to offer his hand to help her to her feet. It was the downward bend that made his bright green eyes catch the light. They were nearly neon, with an unearthly shine. But his pale skin and dark hair framing his face made them seem to shine so brightly. "So long as you aren't hurt. My papa is better at fixing people than I am."
When she gave him her name, he nodded softly, and offered his own name. He smiled as he spoke French. *My name is Leon. It's nice to meet you*
His eyes. They fascinated her. They were such a beautiful green. She was tempted to say this, but didn't. Brianna took his hand to let him help her up and she couldn't help but grin back at him. It was just the way he smiled, it made her smile too. It was hard to explain with words, so Brianna just didn't tell him. Plus it would have been super awkward. "I'm not good at fixing people, either." she agreed. "I tried once...it's very hard."
When he spoke French to her, Bri grinned even wider once she heard her native language. Nice to meet you, too. So, you're from France, oui? she said, smiling at him softly.
He smiled lightly as she finally came to a stand. It was a random observation, he always noticed strange things, and he wasn't sure why but he noticed that he was exactly 4 .5 inches taller than she was. And.. Blue eyes, he noticed. His Mama had one blue eye, The other was green of course, as were his and his papa's eyes. That one blue eye was so mysterious to him.. and here was a girl with two of them. Soft sapphires, still glistening with a hint of tears, looking up at him.
"France? Non, I've never been. My papa is from France. I learned French from him." He gently reached his slender long fingers to her hair. He gently picked a few blades of dead grass and a leaf or two from the golden strands. But he was just using it as an excuse to touch her hair.
"I.. dont mean to pry.. but I saw you crying earlier... are you sure you're okay?" he stuffed his hands into his pockets as he tilted his head looking at her. He didnt know this girl but something made his hearts ache to think someone had made her cry. Well.. Any girl crying made him feel sad. It reminded him of his Mama when she was upset. But his Papa was always there to comfort her.
Maybe this girl just needed someone to comfort her too?
Brianna smiled and then she actually blushed a bit when he picked grass and the occasional leaf out of her hair. She smiled shyly at him when he spoke, then her blush faded as she nodded her head.
"Ahh, I see. Well, you should go sometime. You'd probably like it there." she said, nodding. The next time Leon spoke, though, her eyes misted over, her expression changing to a frown.
"I had a fight with my mama. It seems a silly thing to cry over, but we never fight. It's....strange. I love my mama so much, and since I have no papa, time is too short to fight, oui?" Brianna said.
Her lips turned up into a smile again. "I'm sure it will turn out fine, though. My mama and I will apologize, I'm certain it will be forgotten." And why was she telling him this? Well, he'd asked.
He smirked a little, a slight crease in his cheek showing off a faint dimple. "Oui, Papa says he plans to take me one day." He nodded as she explained the tears in her eyes. He couldn't help it, He'd seen his Papa do this to his Mama on so many occasions, he thought this was what you were supposed to do when a girl cried. He took both of his hand to rest on either side of her face and used his thumbs to wipe the tears gently from her eyes.
He tilted his head to the side curiously. He'd never had an argument with his parents. His mother was a lady and you just didn't back talk a woman, even if they were wrong. And his Papa? He respected his Papa too much to challenge his authority. Besides, his Papa had never steered him wrong.
He ran those long fingers through his bangs as she looked down at her with a concerned look. "That's no good. She's your mama. You shouldn't fight. "
This could have possibly been the smallest and yet most comforting gesture Bri had ever experienced. She blushed a little as Leon wiped away her tears, but she smiled in a way of gratitude at him.
As he said his next sentence, Bri's eyes grew watery but she wiped her eyes fiercely, and the tears remained dry. She seemed to bow her head slightly in guilt, looking at her feet. She then looked up and met Leon's eyes.
"I know I shouldn't fight with her. We..we never used to. I know she's probably right, I mean, she's my mother, so she usually is, but...I just felt so mad at her...I said things...terrible ones." Bri said, sighing. "And I regret it.So much.
Leon smiled softly and used his hand to hold her chin and lift her face so she could look at him. "No tears, now. You love your mama, oui?"
He chuckled at such an obvious question. Of course she did. She wouldnt be so upset if she didnt love her mama. "My Papa always tells me, 'In forgiveness, there is Love'.. So.. Everything will be fine, oui?"
He waited as he gauged her reaction with a soft smile. He then ran his fingers through his long bangs and looked over his shoulder, back towards the fence where he'd originally been. There was a motorbike propped against the fence. "Do... You want to go for a ride?"
Brianna nodded as an answer. "Yes, I do. I love her with all my heart." she said. She watched him as he chuckled, and then spoke. Brianna thought about what he said for a moment or two. In forgiveness, there is love... and very right he was, too! Bri relaxed.
[color-purple]"Yes..you're right. It will be fine." Brianna said, and this time, her smile didn't carry any hint of her sadness. As of about 6 seconds ago, Brianna had recovered from her sad state.
Brianna's eyes fell on the motorbike, and then onto Leon when he asked her a question. Brianna thought for a moment, and then she nodded, her eyes shining. "I'd love to." she said, smiling at him.
Leon's smile was bright and sincere as he took her hand, rather excitedly leading her from the park. To say that the boy didn't have an adventurous wild side would have been a lie. For the most part, Yes, Leon was mindful of his Papa, was a good son and never questioned his parents. But when it came to his addiction to the thrill, to adrenaline, it was the one thing he couldnt ignore.
He moved the bike from the fence and went to straddle the dirt bike. He smiled up at her and motioned behind him. "It's safe.. I promise.. I modified it myself"
Brianna let him lead her away by her hand, slightly excited. She'd never actually been on a dirt bike before, or any kind of motor bike, in fact, so this was going to be rather fun for her, she was certain of it. As he took the dirt bike from the fence and got on it, Brianna watched him for a moment, before laughing and hopping on the bike, holding on to the bar-thing at the back to keep her steady.
"Didn't doubt it for a minute." Brianna smiled at him. "Where are we going to go?" she asked curiously, although if it was a surprise she'd go with that.
He smiled brightly when she straddled the seat behind him. He reached behind to take one of her arms and pulled it around his chest "You might be safer if you hold on to me. I don't bite, Bri.. I promise"
He looked ahead at the road. He wasnt familiar with the area but, heck, he could ride around the block a few times and that would have been thrill enough for him. But then the idea of just... going, not caring where they went. That could be an adventure too. "We can go anywhere. Maybe even... any time" He DID say he'd modified the bike.
Bri smiled a bit to herself and held onto him, as he had suggested. "I didn't expect you to." she said, giggling a little. She then frowned a bit at what he said. 'Any time?' what was that supposed to mean?
"Any time, huh? Well, okay. Surprise me, then." she said, smiling a bit. She didn't know what to expect, here, so she decided it was best to wait and see what Leon had in store for her.
