He rested his foot on the kick start with a smile before sending his foot down, causing the dirt bike to rumble and purr to life. He smiled over his shoulder at her with a rather cheeky grin before facing forward again. He smirked that devilish smile before allowing the bike forward and putting his legs up.
Two teenagers on a motorbike in the late afternoon with no adult supervision? What could possibly go wrong?
As the bike sped up the road, he began to fidget with a gauge between the handle bars. at first glance, it looked like a regular speedometer. But as he flipped some switches on the side, a few random numbers rolled onto the dial. "1870's sound good?" He said with a smirk, even though he was relatively sure she had no idea what he was on about.
When Leon smiled at her over his shoulder, she couldn't help but return the smile. The tears and sadness and anger had faded away, and now Brianna felt a lot better than she had been feeling a few moments ago.
The wind blew through her hair slightly as they went along. Bri liked it, though, as if she could just forget everything for once and just be here with...a complete stranger? No, more like a friend that she'd known for what, 10 minutes?
But then he spoke and interrupted her thoughts. Bri's eyebrows shot up. 1870's? Now how in the world...? but Bri brushed it off, and shrugged. "Sure, sounds fine." if you can manage to get us there. But hey, she'd see what happened.
Leon grinned at his possible widest and finally flipped the last switch. That's when something started to happen that told anyone this was no normal dirt-bike. A sudden flash of golden light darted past them. Leon blinked, wondering if that was supposed to happen. The another.
Without him pressing anything, the bike began to rapidly increase in speed to the point that Leon was gripping the handle bars as tight as he could in one hand, his other hand to his middle to tightly grasp Brianna's arm to make sure she didn't slip off the back end. Dirk Bikes normally couldn't seat two people, but Leon had calculated both their weight and size and together, the weight about as much as an adult... A really thin one, anyway.
Within a few seconds, bright golden lights and sparks were darting past the bike and the world around them looked like a blurry oil painting. Leon held his breath, both anxious and excited.. It would either work and they'd be in 1870's London.... or they would die in a horrible blaze of time experimental glory. Just a head, what looked like a tunnel of light began to open before them. He popped the bike into a wheelie, speeding ever faster crying out with an adrenalin filled shout "Allons-Y!!" And like that, they were gone.
Leon's head was splitting in pain. When he came to, he looked around as saw they had smacked into a building. That was odd. Past or future, this was not the road he'd been on before. It had been a clear street with nothing ahead but hillsides. They were in the middle of a city. And when he heard the locals as they passed by, he immediately recognized the language. French. He scrambled to his feet and was at Brianna's side, checking her over "Okay.. That's weird.. I only meant to change the time... not the place", He rubbed the back of his head, obviously confused. "Are you alright?"

Brianna didn't scream or shout, she just kept silent through all of this, her eyes widening slightly at the sudden gained speed of the bike and Leon grasping her arm.
She was, in fact, too shocked to even shout anything like 'WHAT'S HAPPENING?' so she just stayed silent, shutting her eyes. She had a feeling that this was going to-----
-------------------------------------------------------------- Bri groaned. Her head and her sides were slightly hurting. With another little moan she sat up, her eyes wide open. She looked to the side and next minute, there was Leon beside her, checking her over and talking.
Bri nodded, and rubbed the back of her head slightly. "Y-yeah, I'm fine. What happened, though? I don't really remember much." she admitted. She only remembered thinking -- well, actually, it had been an unfinished thought.
Because basically she'd forgotten the rest. Vaguely, around her, it registered that there were people talking French. They must be in France, she thought, looking around before looking back at Leon, realizing something.
"Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?" she asked, concerned. Her face showed the concern, too, so Leon would probably notice this.
Leon cleared his throat nervously. He looked at the motorbike and saw that, thankfully it was undamaged.. He smiled to Bri, still obviously a little uneasy.. "What happened? Um.. Well, it's a little hard to explain. My bike, is a little like a time machine. I just add the date and coordinates and WHOOSH! We're there... But um.. That's just theoretical. This was my first jump with it" He'd meant for them to stay in London. He offered his hand to her to pull her to her feet. "Oui.. I'm alright.. Just... confused, I guess."
He looked at the bike and then around at his surroundings. He would have to hide the motorbike. Things like this didn't exist quite yet. He reached into his satchel and pulled out a tarp.. a rather large one made out of grungy looking pale burlap. There was no way if could have fit in there, yet there it was, being pulled out of the satchel. He propped the bike against the wall and tossed the tarp over to hide it "Well... in any case.. we're stuck here until it recharges.. maybe about 3 hours? You want to have a look around?" His worried expression suddenly changed to a rather excited one as he looked at her, still holding her hands.
"Well, it's good your okay and all. But seriously? We're going to be able to get back, right?" she asked.
She then grinned slightly, allowing him to help her up. He kept a hold of her hands and asked her if she wanted to look around. A slight blush crept up to her cheeks but she nodded, her eyes suddenly sparkling in excitement.
"I'd love to explore for...3 hours? C'mon, let's go!" and, holding onto his hand, Bri led him out onto the street and she began to walk.
He patted the bike after he covered it, smiling softly "Should recharge just fine.." He wallked out of the strange alley way and observed the people passing by. This was the Victorian era.. The two of them were going to stand out like sore thumbs.. Especially Brianna.. Leon just looked like a street urchin, but Brianna? He noticed how the woman were wearing Petticoats under their dressed with their fancy boots and hats, even the young girls.. People were going to think Brianna was running around in her underwear.
Leon looked at Brianna and his cheeks actually turned red. "I... Think we need to get us a change of clothes.. We need to get some money so I can get you a dress or it's going to be pretty obvious that we're not from around here" He smirked at Brianna as he finally let go of her hands "Wait right there. Seriously, don't move.. I don't want us getting separated.. okay?"
He smiled trying to be reassuring to her before moving into a small crowd of people, discretely weaving through them, looking as though he was just trying to get past, but his small agile fingers were dipping into pockets looking for coin purses and currency notes. His Papa might have been proud of him, but his Mama would box his ears if she knew that he was picking pockets.
He hurried back over to Brianna with a grin as he emptied his pockets of all the valuables he'd pilfered. *"Let's go shopping, yes?"*
((For the reference of other readers, anything said in italics with the '*' is in French))
Bri didn't make a sound, just nodded, but inside she felt like facepalming. She hated dresses with a passion, but she supposed she had to.
She wasn't watching Leon, so she didn't know he was pickpocketing, but she didn't care anyway. She'd had to do it before, when she and her mother had no money. They were fine now, though. Thinking about her mother made her sad, so she pushed the thoughts away. Then Leon was back.
A sudden smile appeared on her face. *"Yes, let's go! Any ideas where?*
Leon looked Brianna up and down, taking a mental note of her measurements so he could help her find clothes that would fit. For a moment, his mind wandered.. mainly of when does a girl go from looking like a twig to.. well.. looking like his mother. And a flush of color instantly went across his nose. He barely knew this girl. So why what he trying to imagine her 'filled out'? He cleared his throat uncomfortably and mumbled an apology.
He poked his head out of the alley curiously to get a good look at the shops that lined the street. As fortune would have it, there was a ladies clothing shop. But there was an issue. He couldn't just waltz Bri through the streets dressed the way she was.. Yes, by modern day standards, she was more than adequately dressed... But here and now? She was running around in her skivvies. He shrugged off his jacket and placed it on her shoulders. He was wearing a white muscle shirt under that jacket and the few scars on his arms were plainly visible. The most obvious and disturbing one was a gash on his left bicep that the skin was slightly discolored.. The result of a nasty snake bite.
*"Okay, Bri.. Keep close.. We're going to make you look like a proper lady"* and he took her hand to lead her to the dress shop. When they entered the shop, the bell atop the door rang softly to announce their arrival and an attendant went to greet them but gasped, appalled by their appearance. Leon quickly went to explaining *"My.. um.. My sister had an accident and her dress got ruined. We need to buy her a new one. Please can you help us?"*
He felt so awkward calling her his sister. But he paid very good attention when his grandfather, Leo spoke about cultures throughout history since he was a bit of an Earth History nut. It was not the norm for young boys and girls to be in each other's company without supervision unless they were siblings.
The shop keeper eyed them suspiciously and nodded her head before leading Bri into the shop so she could pick out a dress *"Now, young lady, we have all sorts of finery's to choose from"* and began explaining all the latest young ladies fashions. *"And complimentary to your purchase, as a seamstress, I will tailor your selection to fit you properly, miss"*
Leon couldn't help but snicker. This must have been very awkward for Bri.
Bri gave his hand a gentle squeeze as they entered the shop, and she raised her eyebrows when he said she was his sister, but she just nodded.
Suddenly the girl was showing her around. Bri had a feeling she wasn't going to like this... ________________________________________________ They were soon done and the woman left Bri to look in the mirror. She groaned and sat down on the stool in the corner of the dressing room. She actually looked rather pretty, but she thought this was horrible.
When she realized Leon was outside, she spoke in English, so the woman couldn't understand. "I am not going out like this! I look absolutely horrible!" she said, groaning and resting her head in her hands.
"There must be a way around this! Anything!" she said, sighing. She knew there wouldn't be.
Leon just smirked at her as she ranted about the dress. "Nonsense. You look brilliant." He took his hands to gently brush her hair out of her face and off her shoulders. "I promise.. Cross my hearts" He took both hands and made an 'X' over both sides of his chest, His first indication to her that he was not Human.
"Well, Let's go!" He eagerly took her hand and left the shop after they paid the woman. "Where do you want to go first?"
"Your...hearts? You've got two? Brianna said, looking a bit surprised but not all that shocked, comparing it to everything else that had happened today.
She gave his hand a squeeze. "I'm not sure...let's go...this way!" Brianna said, pulling him carefully with her as she wandered in a direction she could hear music.
He couldn't help but laugh at her reaction. He had to remind himself that Two hearts wasn't normal for Earth. Well.. For most planets, actually. There were only a small group of species that possessed two or more hearts. "Oui! I have two of them. Like my Mama."
He grinned as she grabbed his arm and pulled him along. He was happy that he could take her mind off of her troubles, at least for a little while. This was probably the most fun he'd had in a while, and he'd never taken anyone with him on his adventures before. That made today rather special to him.
But he, not even for a moment, allowed himself to drop his guard. Call it paranoia, but it was a well known fact that trouble had a habit of following him wherever he went. An unfortunate trait he inherited from both his parents.
Brianna nodded slowly. "I'm not sure I actually believe you've got two hearts, but okay. I'll just go with it." she said.
As they walked along, though, Brianna couldn't help but feel as though they were being watched. She stopped walking and turned around, but there was nobody there.
"Is it just me...or do you feel like somebody's watching us?" Brianna turned back to the front. It was probably just her.
Leon halted in his steps when she replied that she didn't believe him. He looked as though she had just slapped him. The boy prided himself on his honesty, though there were times that his parents told him that he was a bit too honest.
He huffed a deep breath, puffing his cheeks slightly and the lower lip nearly hung into a pout, but he fought it. "I swear, I DO have two hearts!" He suddenly snatched her hand and pulled her to him, looking right into her eyes, his bright green eyes blazing with determination. "I'll prove it!"
He took both her hands, not giving her a chance to really protest, and put them under his shirt so she could place her hands against his bare chest, firmly holding her hands there so she could feel his hearts beating. "There.. You can feel them, Ouais?"
He smiled, feeling as though he had just reclaimed his honor and let her hands go.
He nodded to her next remark "I've felt it for a little while.. I.. Think we should keep walking, yeah? Find a crowd"
