Bri gave a slight squeak and blushed slightly, but she could actually feel two hearts beating. When he let her hands go out of his t-shirt, she blushed slightly, stepping back a bit to keep walking, making sure he was following her.
"I guess so, but..." before she could speak again, she heard laughing ahead. Her head looked towards it and there were three boys, dressed much like Leon, and they were laughing. At her.
"What are you doing around here, girly? Get lost. Boys only!" one said, while another slightly younger one repeated it. "What if I don't leave? I have as much right to be here as---" however, before she could finish, she felt her hair being tugged and her hand flew up to it. The older boy gave her a shove, making her stagger slightly, and another tripped her up.
He fell behind her for a moment, grinning triumphantly, doing something of a strut. He slightly enjoyed the blush he'd caused to her cheeks. Perhaps she felt silly for doubting him and that was fine by him. He always spoke the truth, and now that he felt that he had proven this to his fair haired friend, he was feeling quite cocky. But he didn’t, even for a moment, let his guard down. 1870's was not a pretty place to be in France..
Bri was right, though. He could feel someone following them. He stopped to look over his shoulder, feeling a little ill at ease. Seeing no one there didn't comfort him any. He cleared his throat and discretely checked his back pocket, making sure his butterfly blade was in easy reach. Satisfied, he smirked a little and turned to look back at Brianna.... Who seemed to have continued walking without him. “Okay, peacock, where do you go?”. He chuckled. He was making a coy reference to the soft powdery blue dress he'd conned her into buying.
As he did a light jog to catch up, he heard her voice and the voice of three others, boys about his age. “You should keep your hands to yourself.” Leon sternly remarked as they bullied her to the ground. The tallest boy, who seemed to be the ring leader of this little pack sneered at him. “And you plan to do.. what? There's three of us, and one of you”.. Leon smirked and casually approached. “Ouias. It hardly seems fair that you are so grossly outnumbered”.
The boys arched a brow at him and laughed at him as if he were daft. Their ring leader sneered,“Little pup can bark.. Let's see if he can bite, too. Antoine. Muzzle him.”.. A tall butterball of a teen approached him. Leon quickly sized him up and tilted his head to the side with a smirk. The boy went to take a wide swing at him and Leon need only lean back several inches to avoid the swing and snapped back. He was smaller, lighter, and considerably faster. He kicked his leg up and planted his foot firmly in the boy's gut, knocking the wind from his lungs and the boy doubled over gasping.
The next boy came at him, flipping open a pocket knife. Leon didn’t even hesitate and snatched his knife from his own pocket and flung it at the other boy's hand. The knife went right through his hand and nailed his hand to the wooden building beside them, causing him to drop the knife and howl in pain. The ring leader glared and approached, kicking Bri in her side while she was still down.
That.. made Leon snap. His whole life, there was undeniable unbreakable rule. You did NOT hit a girl. He was going to be lenient before because while, yes, they were rude.. they never hit Brianna. Until now. He ran at the third boy and tackled him to the ground and before he knew what was happening, he was kneeling over him, his knees pinning the boy's arms down and he was punching him, over and over, in the face. Leon could feel and hear bones and cartilage snapping, crunching, and breaking with every collision of his fists. Leon was in such a blind rage, he hardly noticed that he had broken two of his own fingers and four of his knuckles, pounding in his face. And Leon showed no signs of stopping. The two other boys took off to summon the police. The boy who's face he was mangling, had stopped moving.
It happened too fast. Suddenly she felt pain in her side. She gave a slight groan and she sat up. Her side was rather upset, but as soon as she heard the bones starting to crack, her eyes widened.
He was breaking bones in the boy's face..for her.
She could see adults shouting and running over, pulling Leon and the ringleader apart, and the guy set Leon down next to Bri, and as they turned to help up the other boy, Bri attempted to pull Leon away.
"We have to get out of here. They'll bring the police." she whispered, and her tone and her eyes were slightly pleading.
This was his third incarnation. Tall with ringlets of black hair that barely fell to his cheek bones. His observance of the scene that played out in that little alleyway pulled a smirk to his lips. The green eyed upstart was as much a hot headed arrogant annoyance as when he remembered him. How fortuitous that he could be able to finish what they had began. Reaper had so nearly graced Rio's face with a scar to compliment the other side of his face. That temptation still tugged at him, resentful for his and Maria's interference.
He joined into the fray as adults began to gather to the scene and helped pull the young Rio off of the mangled boy. But then he looked at the boy up close. This wasn't Rio. The eyes were all wrong. Yes, the Karlaythian green eyes were the same, but the shape of his eyes... They were a soft almond shape, indicating a hint of Asian decent. Must be Rio's son. Oh no matter, pay back was pay back, and Rio would still feel the sting of his revenge, even if it was inflicted on the boy.
He looked to the fair haired girl who accompanied him and he smirked. “You had best move along. Take the path behind the church, I can give you sanctuary if you require it.” He mused over the damage the green eyed 'Spawn of Rio' had inflicted on the child. Hie would not survive those injuries in this time era. He would not be albe to eat, gangrene would settle into his face an the child would die a slow and painful death. The green eyed boy had good as murdered him. All for a little twig of a girl? 'How chivalrous' he sneered to himself. So the girl was his soft spot? He would have to remember that.
Leon felt hands tug on him and his elbow flew back to knock who ever it was, away from him. His two hearts were pounding with so much anger that the moment that tall man pulled him off, he nearly went to punch him in the throat before realizing what had just transpired. Leon was too stunned to do much more than nod as Bri suggested they make a break for it before he got himself arrested.
He looked to the strange man, tilting his head to the side? Why was he so eager to help him? Perhaps he'd seen the whole thing play out and knew that Leon had acted in self defense. Leon patted his pockets and realized he was without his knife. He groaned slightly as he looked at Bri and then to the stranger who seemed eager to assist them. He shrugged his shoulders lightly and looked to Bri. He would let her decide where they should go since he'd gotten her into this mess. “I leave it to you, Peacock” he said, not even realizing he'd just called her by the little nickname he'd given, in reference to her dress.
“I.. I think we should go with him, ouais? Better than being out in the open if someone is looking for us.”
The 13 year old chewed on her lip as she thought over what Leon had just did for her. There were loads of adults swarming around...and suddenly they were approached by one. He began to talk and Brianna listened.
At this nickname given by Leon, the girl instantly understood and she rolled her eyes at him, pinching his arm in a playful manner. Then, Brianna looked at the strange man, then at Leon, then back at the man. She knew this was up to her. Leon, when he told her what he thought, instantly made her come to her decision.
"Oui, we'll come with you." she replied. She looked over to where the other two boys seemed to be looking around for someone. She carefully moved Leon around and made sure he was out of side.

Armand smirked as they so willingly accepted his assistance. All it took was a single act of kindness and feigning compassion for children to trust. Although, he could see it in the boy's eyes that he was wary of him. He couldn't help but smirk. The boy had good intuition not to trust him. Oh, he wasn't going to kill them. Where was the pleasure in that? But The Reaper was certainly going to make sure that the boy's father knew he'd brushed blades with death, and Armand, being a 'merciful' master of death, had... allowed the boy and his companion to live.
He followed close behind as he ushered them to 'safety' and brought them inside a church. “You will be allowed to claim sanctuary here until this matter is resolved” It was a massive Catholic Cathedral that was startlingly empty save for a few priests taking confession and the occasional priest walking through. Excellent. His gaze turned to the two children and he placed a hand on the girl's shoulder. “My name is Armand. And, in case you were wondering.. The boy whom you bested.. His name is Cal LeMarque.. His father will be most displeased at the extent of his injuries. You are a brave lad to assault the son of the General.” he replied with a smirk in his tone, however his face remained quite stoic.
Leon followed, hand hand firmly grasping Brianna's He wasn't sure if it was the fact that he still had anger and adrenaline and anger kicking through his system, but this man made Leon quite uneasy. He muttered quietly to Bri before the entered the church “Stay close to me, Paon.. I have a bad feeling about this.” He looked around the church warily and his fingers grasped his Papa's rosary about his neck. His nerves were on edge and it wouldnt probably take the smallest thing to set him off.. But he didn’t know if he could bring himself to do something drastic here in the House of God.
Leon listened, looking up at the man, almost glaring. Something in his hears told him he really should not trust this man. “My name is Armand. And, in case you were wondering.. The boy whom you bested.. His name is Cal LeMarque.. His father will be most displeased at the extent of his injuries. You are a brave lad to assault the son of the General.”Leon scoffed at the man's words “He should not have hit her. She did nothing to them.” He felt another bout of anger stirring in him as the man placed a hand on Brianna's shoulder. He shoved the man's hand off her her shoulder and stood between Bri and Armand. “I think we should be leaving........”
Brianna was surprised as Leon grasped her hand, however she gave his hand a gentle squeeze as they walked. Of course, she could kind of see that Leon didn't trust this man, but perhaps he was just full of anger from the fight, she reasoned. When Leon told Brianna to stay close to him, she was obedient and yet slightly confused.
As soon as that man...Armand, he said... put a hand on her shoulder, she felt a slight uneasy shift in her mind. But before Bri could do anything Leon had shoved Armand's hand off of her shoulder and had stood between them both.
"And where will we go, Leon? They are still looking for you out there. What exactly do you suggest?" she said after a while. She didn't want to take sides here.
