"Ha-ha! Oh come on old girl, let's crack it up a notch!" The Doctor was rushing around the TARDIS console, a lot faster than usual. He had taken off his jacket and his hair was a mess as it stuck out at strange angles. "You can do it. I know it's a big nasty time anomaly...thing. But you can do it!" He spun a lever on the console, resulting in sparks flying everywhere. He wasn't going to miss this opportunity, he couldn't not when...not when it meant seeing her again. His expression set in one of grim determination, he gripped the dematerialization lever and yanked it down. The TARDIS began spinning wildly, more so than he could ever remember, and he needed an extra strong grip on the console to stop himself from being thrown around. "Amy, wherever you are, hold on tight!" he shouted back up the staircase.
Amy was walking down th stairs and she gripped the railing tightly and held on. "What are you doing?" Amy asked managing to make herself clear over the noise. The Doctor sounded really......excited. Joyous. It was the tiniest bit weird but Amy wasn't about to spoil it for him. She was just curious is all.
The sound filling her ears was the best thing she'd ever heard. Her heart soared, her breathing sped up, and her stomach filled with fluttery butterflies.
vworp, vworp
Could it be?
...No. No, it couldn't.
She spun around, peering down the street, long, now brown hair flashing in her eyes. She could see it. She could see that damned blue box as it appeared down the street, and she dropped her shopping bag, taking off at a breakneck speed down the sidewalk to wait.
She broke out into a grin. It was really there. The TARDIS was really in front of her, and when it was finally there, completely, she placed a hand on its doors, eyes searching for the handle.
No. She couldn't just walk in.
She knocked.
And waited.
Then knocked again, she just couldn't wait, she missed her Doctor so.
Five minutes later, the Doctor was lying back on the glass platform of the console room after being thrown down there, laughing his head off. Steam poured up from the console as a few final sparks fizzed out from the panels. Even though there might have been some damage done, it had been worth it. The TARDIS had made it. The Doctor quickly stood up. "Come along, Pond!" he said to Amy as he picked up his jacket from the jumpseat. He flung it on as he came to the doors, with his hand extended out to open them...when somebody knocked. Was it her? It must've been. Another knock.
Definitely her.
Without another second of hesitation, the Doctor pulled the door open and leaned through the frame. And there she was. As beautiful as ever, even with the change of hair colour. But it was nice. Made her look even better. The Doctor couldn't stop grinning. "It's you," he simply said stupidly, pointing at her, then himself. He continued pointing between the two of them before eventually putting his arms round her in a hug.
She was so happy to see him, no doubts about that, but... This wasn't her Doctor. This wasn't the pin-striped man with gravity defying hair and colorful trainers. This was the man with freckles everywhere and creases that showed at the edges of his eyes when he got truly happy.
Then he hugged her, this new Doctor, and she was taken by surprise, his arms fitting around her again jus as perfectly as before. His hair tickled her neck, a sharp contrast to the rough tweed of his jacket, and she took a deep breath.
It was him. She could tell; it smelled like him, like TARDIS, and fire, and rain, and ozone, and stars, and adventure and him.
She smiled, a big grin, and wrapped her arms around his still-lanky figure, burying her face in his shoulder.
"You're here," she choked out, happy tears filling her eyes, though she refused to show them to him. His last image of her was her crying, she didn't want it to be his first, too. "It's really you. New face, and everything."
Amy had followed the Doctor when he had said 'Come along Pond' but when he opened the doors she just kept her distance, uncertain. Obviously they were...friends? Best friends? Lovers? At the last one Amy only just managed not to burst out laughing. A small giggle escaped her lips but she put her hand to her mouth.
As she heard them exchanging their words and such, Amy rested against the rail. Okay, so make me feel totally invisible, why don't you? she thought to herself with an eye roll.
New face, and everything? Amy wondered when the woman said it. New face? What? but she didn't dare speak. She'd ruin the moment and she might upset either of the two strangers (the Doctor seemed like a stranger to her now, he was totally blanking her as it seemed) as she might get a look from a Doctor, like a fire-making look. Yikes.
"Yup, it's me," the Doctor grinned. He broke away from the hug to get another proper look at Rose. "What do you think?" he asked, spinning a bit. Then he looked back into the TARDIS. "Amy! Come on over! Sorry, I know I left you out a bit there, but...well." He smiled at his companion and gestured to Rose. "Meet Rose Tyler."
He spun around, showing off his new body and clothes, and she took it all in. Tweed and a Bowtie, suspenders, and a button up shirt... And were those boots? She almost missed the trainers.
She took a step forward to study his face. Same old, brown eyes, still eyelashes so long she was jealous, and floppy hair. Still floppy hair. Good. She loved that.
"I think you look fantastic," she smiled, even though she preferred her old Doctor.
Then he was calling over a girl, Amy, and introducing her. Jealousy flared up inside, but she let it to, reaching out a hand to shake hers with a friendly hi.
Amy nodded and headed over. She shrugged when he apologized. "No big deal." she replied, shaking Rose's hand when she held out her hand to. "Hi." she replied. Then Amy turned to the Doctor. "This is the Rose you're always on about, yeah?" she checked, a small grin tugging at her lips. It was nice they were back together and stuff. But Amy couldn't resist a little tease. However, it was directed at the Doctor, not Rose. Amy felt just a bit jealous (because if Rose joined the TARDIS like Amy assumed she would then Amy figured she'd be pushed aside like earlier) but she was managing to get it down.
