Lara walked into the police station, nodding a greeting to the receptionist. She looked around for a bit before walking over to the receptionist's desk. "It's kinda quiet today, huh? Am I needed anywhere?" Lara said. The receptionist nodded and pointed down the hall.
"They said just wait in the lounge and they'll be there soon. Some other guy just went there." the receptionist said. Lara nodded and walked down to the lounge. When she got there, she opened the door, wondering at that exact same time if she knew the person that was already in there.
William was just walking to his desk, with the aid of his cane when his boss walked past him, "Hey there are two newbies in the lounge waiting for work. Why don't you get one of them in here to help you out for the day Will?"
Sighing he looked at the man and knew that if he did not go now to get the help as he is being told that he will be sent home and possibly fired. Then again today his leg was hurting him pretty badly, he sure can use the help, "Yes sir." Heading over to the stairs he started heading down.
Stepping through the door he observed that there was one man and one young lady waiting for work. The man appeared to have either lost interest or really does not want to work. Looking to the young lady he pointed at her, "You come with me please." He said pushing the door behind him open as he waited for her.
It was rather awkward when she was sitting there, across from the man, and it was a long silence. She just prayed it wouldn't be so long until someone decided that they needed one of them. Right on cue, a slightly older man entered, and seemed to be observing both of them, before he pointed at her.
"You come with me please." he said. Lara was very relieved, and she saw his point of choosing her; the other guy looked very bored...disinterested in his work? Lara thought that was really weird.
She got up and obediently followed him. Lara flashed him a smile. "So..what are we going to be doing today, sir?" she asked, politely. "I'm Lara, Lara Summers." she introduced. He was..Will? Something along those lines, anyhow.

William led the way up the stairs, but he was finding it rather hard to climb but easy to go down, why was that? Looking down at her he could not help but smile in response to her eagerness to work, "William Roberson." He replied, glancing up the stairs he could see the door that will lead to the offices, "You are going to help me investigate a murder.. as well as in my other works as well." He replied, wondering if what he said would put her off.
Stopping at the door he pushed it open and gestured with the hand holding his cane for Lara to go first.
Lara nodded as they went up the stairs. Her eagle eye noticed that he had slight trouble going up the stairs. Must have been an old wound or something. When he held the door open for her, she smiled and proceeded through it, making sure he was right behind her.
"How was the victim murdered?" she asked. That was, she learned, the best way to start off; find out first how the victim was murdered, and ask if there were any witnesses. Then, find out who the suspect was. Wasn't always as easy as it sounded, Lara noted.
Once Lara was waiting for him, William proceeded into the very large room gesturing to his office at the other side, "My office is over there." He said before leading the way to the office. He made sure that Lara was able to keep up and was getting out of the way of other people around him.
"How was the victim murdered?" she asked.
William stepped into his office, "Well.. as evidence shows.. the victim was beaten first.. possibly with fists or a blunt weapon before being shot." He started with as he started closing the door behind Lara after receiving a file from a woman, "Thank you." He said to the woman before closing the door, then walked around to his chair, "Anyways the tools used to torture the person was never found or the gun that killed him so.. once we find out who the person or people were that killed this person we can find out what they used to torture and murder this man." He said as William got a photo out of a file that was already on his desk and pushed it towards Lara. Sitting down he leaned the cane against his desk before opening the file he was given.
Lara followed easily, moving through the people with ease and following Will. "Hm. Kind of brutal, as always." she said. When they got to his office, she pulled up a chair and sat opposite him.
"Were there any witnesses?" was Lara's next question, watching Will curiously. She wasn't sure what was in the file, but no doubt he would tell her as soon as he'd read it over for himself.
"Were there any witnesses?" was Lara's next question, watching Will curiously.
William looked up at her for a moment to listen to her before looking back down at what he was looking at, "No.. there were no witnesses, the murder took place at an abandoned warehouse at the other side of Thames River." He replied, setting the new file down on the desk opened, "It appears the murder did it again.." William said quietly as though he was deeply saddened by the news of the new murder.
Glancing outside he saw that the weather was rather good, chilly, but good, "I say we head over to the crime scene..." William said as he came to a stand and pulled his coat off his chair and put it on before picking his cane up.
Lara nodded slowly. She knew of that warehouse. She'd often wondered what it was like inside, and now she had the chance to find out. She got up and, making sure Will was following her, she walked towards the door. -------------------------- On their way out of the police station Lara grabbed her own coat and put it on. "I've got my car here if you want to go that way." she said to Will, making sure he knew the offer was there.
Or they could always take a taxi. Or a police car. You know, either way. But she was just being nice.
Will gathered what he thought, will be needed including his gun before following her out of the office. He turned the light off and closed the door behind him before following her out the rest of the way.
When they were outside the station he looked around, wondering how they were going to get there, since work was so close to his home William just simply walked.
"I've got my car here if you want to go that way." she said to Will, making sure he knew the offer was there.
The ex military officer looked at her, "You sure? We could just take a cab." But then a thought hit him, what if they found a suspect there? He wondered then changed his mind, "Yeah lets take your car.." He quickly said, shifting his feet some.
Lara smiled and, still making sure he was following, opened the car doors and got in. "Okay, let's go!" -------------------- Soon enough, they were outside the warehouse. Lara got out of the car and shut the door, taking the keys and making sure her gun was in her pocket. She'd been given that ages ago, she didn't remember who it was from though. She took the gun out of her pocket, just in case, and looked at Will.
"Ready?" she asked. She opened the doors to the warehouse and switched on the lights. The body still seemed to be there. Lara studied it slightly, and then shuddered softly. It was covered in blood and while Lara didn't mind blood, it was a little creepy to think it had happened in here.
"You think the suspect is still here?" Lara whispered. If he or she was still here, it wasn't a good idea to be heard.
William followed Lara to her car, climbing in quickly.
-----
Once they were just outside the warehouse, his seat belt was off and his gun in the hand that William will primarily use to hold his cane in. He nodded in response to her question, "Ready.."He replied before quickly getting out of the car and walking up to the doors.
He was rather impressed that Lara was able to reach the doors before he could.
"You think the suspect is still here?" Lara whispered.
William shrugged, looking at the body on the floor, "I don't know.. if the murderer is stupid enough to be.. yes.. if he is smart.. he will be at the other side of the city by now or at least half way across." He replied, looking around quickly he noticed some stairs to his right, "Stairs to the right.." William said before slowly walking over, his soldier instincts started to kick in as he cautiously approached the stairs.
Lara followed him to the stairs, but a sudden sound of shuffling feet from the other side of the warehouse made her stop and look in that direction. Frowning, she gestured at Will to go upstairs and she began to walk towards the sound, her gun raised in her defense.
It was silly but Lara was actually enjoying this. She liked being a detective, or just a trainee at least, and really wanted to become a full time detective, which would be in about 3 months or so, depending on how many big cases she helped to close.
Hearing some noise William looked in the direction, breathing heavily but quietly, seeing Lara's signal he nodded before cautiously making his way up the stairs. Getting out his cellphone he dialed for the station, "Get a team over here now.. back up.. now!"Then put the phone away, aiming his gun ahead of him, it was dark where he was though.
But from what he learned during war, it was worse to let the enemy, or in this case a murderer know where you are. Stepping quietly he relied more on his hearing to tell him if anyone else was on this floor of the warehouse.
Hearing something he stopped right where he was and looked around, keeping his gun level. Realizing that it was possibly just Lara he took some steps forward before stopping again when he noticed there was a door to his left. He moved to peak in when he heard some rounds go off, causing him to shelter behind the wall, "Lara get out!" He yelled loudly. Before moving around to the other side of the wall and firing a couple rounds where the shooter should be at..
When he was done shooting he looked at the body of who was shooting at him, breathing heavily he tried to control his hand as it started to shake and twitch. He just took another life.. one thing he never wanted to do again. Sighing he lowered and shook his head.
Lara looked up then ahead of her. There was someone there; she was about to shout when she heard a gun shot from upstairs; then one in front of her. It got her square in the arm and she let out a cry of pain, before shooting the person about three times. They fell and Lara checked over them.
"Dead." she said quietly. Suddenly a shout from overhead and the backup Will had obviously called for appeared made Lara whirl around.
"Lara get out!"
Lara, followed by the people who had come to help, bolted up the stairs and she found Will standing over somebody else. "Are you alright?" she asked, thankful that her jacket was not only zipped up, but black; so the blood coming from her shot arm wasn't showing at all. She was fine...until she moved her arm, that is. She felt a shock of pain but she kept her face straight. Lara didn't want them to worry, after all.
