Physical Description: Sébastien Reid is quite a normal looking human. He has short blond hair that usually just lays against his head, although sometimes when he’s too lazy to comb it, it sticks straight up. His eyes are a sunny shade of blue. His ears are a bit big, and his nose is too round for his taste.
He doesn’t have a very good sense of fashion. Sébastien’s mother usually picks out his clothes for his recitals and performances. When he’s dressed casually, he generally just opts for a simple shirt and a pair of jeans. Sometimes, when he can get away with it, he spends the entire day in his plaid pajamas. He hates the way shoes feel on his feet, and sometimes during recitals, he ‘accidentally’ kicks off his shoes, much to the chagrin of his mother.
Personality: Sébastien is a lively fourteen year old boy. He likes to smile, and he likes to think that he’s funny. His mother disagrees, but mothers tend not to understand the humor of their children. His mind seems to change constantly as he thinks things over. It makes him seem indecisive, especially to his mother. She likes to ask him what’s for dinner, which often leads to a row because Sébastien can’t make up his mind between Chinese or Italian.
Another trait that his mother despises is his resolute tenacity. Once Sébastien declares that he’s going to do something, he sticks to it. The most prominent example of Seb’s stubborn nature is when he set himself to prove his father wrong about the violin. Seb says that learning the violin is the best thing that his stubborn nature ever got him.
He is very diplomatic and charming. Sébastien knows what people want to hear, and he’s a giftedliarstory-teller. Unfortunately, the boy has no younger siblings to share his wild stories with. He’s homeschooled due to his hectic schedule, so the only people that he can tell his tales to are his mother and his ‘friend’, Nina.
Although by no means a genius, Sébastien is certainly intelligent. He’s curious about everything and he likes to investigate. He goes through projects and books like his drunkard father went through alcohol. There are two ways that his mind works. His first preference is the investigative part of his mind. He learns quickly and thinks faster this way, but eventually when he hits a snag, his mind slows down to the creative side. This enables him to have a strong memory.
He’s self-confident, and that makes everyone else think that he’s right even if he has no idea what he’s talking about. Due to this, he can bluff extremely well. His mother hates it, combined with his penchant toliestretch the truth. Very thin. Extremely thin.
History: The first time he picked up a violin was when he was three years old. His parents bought his way into a class when he was four after it was discovered the child a natural gift for the violin. His father told him that he wouldn’t amount to much as violinists weren’t even that popular. Sébastien ignored his father quite well and continued to practice daily.
When he was five years old, his father was taken to the hospital due to liver failure. His doctors had told him to stop drinking since before Sébastien was born, but the man stubbornly ignored them. His mother told him that he got his hard-headedness from the man. He died in the hospital. Neither his mother nor Sébastien were heartbroken over the loss. While he wasn’t abusive, he wasn’t the friendliest bloke to be around.
With his father’s words of discouragement ringing in his ears, the five-year-old boy began to pour all his spare time into playing the violin. Aided by a natural talent combined with his zealous practice, Sébastien soon stood out among his tutor’s students. By the time the young boy was eight, he was playing professionally.
His mother pulled him out of public school when it was obvious that her son was a gifted player and not going to lose interest. His grandmother was worried that such a lifestyle would harm his development, but Sébastien makes friends quickly with the other performers, even those much older than himself.
When he was eleven years old, he was approached by a green mass of… misty weird stuff. And that was how he found Nina. She is an Amirling who had run away from her Caretaker. Nina only takes her human form when the two are alone together. The other times, she always seeps into his body and uses him as a shelter. Her Lamp took the form of a violin to match his needs.
At fourteen, he’s still travelling across Europe playing the violin.
Additional Medical Information: Usually Nina just observes the world through his eyes, but occasionally, when he’s in trouble or hurt, she’ll take over his body. When this happens, his mannerisms become very feminine, although his appearance and voice remains the same. Nina can also use her powers through his body.
