Details
Name: Arthur O'Neal
Age: Ten
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Appearance
Arthur has a cherubic face. His eyes, which seem to protrude slightly, are a shock of bright blue against his creamy - but more often grimy - skin. His nose is slightly upturned, nestled between two full cheeks. He has naturally pink lips that hide a bright, buck-toothed smile.
The mess of brown atop his head is often stained with grease. He rarely has the opportunity to clean his hair, therefore it is filled with lice and smells of sweat.
Arthur stands at roughly four feet and is extremely thin. He has wiry muscles that aren't incredibly obvious. Coming towards puberty, his arms are suddenly longer than he can manage, and his feet seem to have grown two sizes bigger overnight. He has become incredibly clumsy.
Clothing: Due to Arthur's lack of financial income, and the poor conditions he is forced to live in, he has very few clothes. One jacket, one jumper, two shirts, a pair of shorts, and a pair of socks, to be exact. He once owned a pair of old shoes, but his feet have grown so big that he can no longer fit them.
His favourite items of clothing include his stripey jumper, his gray shirt, his pair of brown shorts, and the scarves that the officers let them borrow when it's exceptionally cold.
Personality
| distrustful of adults | dreamer | clumsy, but thrives on work |
Like most of the children that he works beside, Arthur is a dreamer, albeit a cynical one. He has very strong morals, but very irrational standards. He believes that adults are the spawn of Satan and only exist to torment the lives of those around them, which is understandable, as he's never known a true father- or mother-figure.
A lot of the younger children look up to him as an older brother, while the older ones scoff at him. Arthur spends most of his free time playing with the others or telling stories. He's a great story-teller, his favourites being about those who find themselves far away in a magical land.
History
Arthur was born to two poor parents. They owned a small section of farmland, three hours outside of Dublin. Their main crops were cabbage and potatoes, but they also owned a small herd of sheep. Things were financially difficult for many years, before Arthur's father decided they had to sell their son "for his own good".
For three years after that fateful decision, Arthur was traded through orphanages, before he finally found himself brought by a work house. Within hours, he had his first job as a clock maker's assistant. The boy didn't trust adults, due to the frequent abuse he was subjected to by his superiors, however, he enjoyed the atmosphere of the clock tower and he liked to work with his fingers.
By the time he was nine, Arthur was finally comfortable with his situation. He had plenty of friends, he knew who to stay away from, and if he was lucky, he got more than one meal every day.
