Physical Description:The main feature on Nico that stands out is his height. As a small child it was evident that he was going to be tall, with his long lean frame and the way he nearly stood eye to eye with his mother at six years of age. By the time he reached his full height, he towered over his family at 7'5". Nico was doomed to inherit the recessive 'Tall' gene. His grandfather, Tomaz, stood about 8'6" on Rio's side
His next most alluring features are his eyes. He inherited his mother's heterochromatic gene, giving him two differently colored eyes. His right eye is a bright pale blue, and the left is an equally pale green. His eyes are slightly shadowed by thick dark brows and his hair is a deep dark brown color. He tried to keep his hair fairly neat but his bangs seem to have a mind of their own, flipping up in the front in a sort of fauxhawk, very rarely laying flat as he would like it to.
His skin is deeply tanned from spending a lot of time outdoors. His skin is remarkably free of scars, but he has had a few broken bones. His nose has a slight crick across the bridge from being broken while rough housing with his oldest brother, Leon.
While his family's two dominant languages are French and English, Nico can speak, read, and write a lot of different languages. Most of these languages he has picked up from reading. His voice is deep but he speaks lightly to try and soften his tone so as not to seem intimidating.
His clothing is greatly limited to availability due to his size. By the time he was eleven, he was already wearing his papa's and older brother's clothing. When they stopped fitting him, his clothing had to be custom tailored. He tries to be careful in his clothes as they are not cheap to replace.
Personality:- Avid Reader: When left to his own devices, Nico will spend hours simply reading. The kind of book doesn't matter to him as he finds all literature fascinating. He also remembers everything he reads, making him something of an Encyclopedia.
[li]Gentle: If there is one thing that could be said about Nico, it is that he is quite gentle despite his staggering size. He's soft spoken, patient, and unfailingly kind. When having to handle other people, he will do everything in his capabilities to handle them as gently as possible, afraid of hurting them due to his size. But his gentility should not be confused for being a push over. He will defend himself and anyone he cares for, violently if need be. But he prefers that to be a last resort.
[/li][li]Observant: Very little escapes Nico's notice when it comes to people and his surroundings. He can easily read someone's body language and get a feel for a person without even speaking to them. Nico also notices when something is out of place from where he previously remembers it being left.
[/li] [li]Realistic: While his papa and oldest brother are complete optimists, Nico prefers to look at things realistically. He doesn't mean to a little rain cloud, but he prefers a practical approach when trying to work around a difficult situation, using his intellect and book smarts rather than going off of blind faith.
[/li][li]Self Conscious: Since he was very young, Nico has always felt awkward about his height. Most people who met him often assumed he was much older than he actually was. When he would act the way a child his age was meant to, he was often teased for being 'immature'. This often lead to his oldest brother, Leon, coming to his defense.

- Truthful: Nico has never understood or seen the point in lying. Like his brother, Leon, his honesty is a trait he prides himself in, but unlike his brother, he tries to stay true to this trait as much as possible. His honestly can often make him seem rather blunt.
History: Nicodème Raphaël Keâts was an accident. Maggie and Rio had agreed that they had enough on their plates with a rambunctious eight year old and a clingy five year old, that having more children needed to be put on the back burner until the boys were a little older. But due to Maggie's rather healthy 'appetite' for.. well.. Rio.... “The Well Laid Plans of Mice and Men Often Go Astray”. So, nine months later, little Nico made his grand appearance into the world.
Nico was surprisingly quiet as a baby and a remarkably fast learner. He hit a lot of his developmental marks well before he should have. He was walking by 10 months old and able to hold a spoon to feed himself. And that boy could eat a LOT. If Nico wasn't sleeping, playing with his brothers, or otherwise occupied, he was eating. And Nico wasn't picky. As long as it was edible, he'd eat it.. Except for coconut. The first time his mother tried to give him Coconut, Nico immediately spat it back out and looked at Maggie like she had just tried to poison him.
By the time Nico was three years old, his parents came to realize that Nico was going to be a tall child. He was nearly four feet tall. It was when Nico turned eight that they realized that 'Tall' was the understatement of the century. In Maggie's second regeneration, she stands at nearly five feet and ten inches. Her eight year old was almost eye level with her.
His growth seemed to slow dramatically over the next few years and by eleven, Nico was six and a half feet tall. His family breathed a premature sigh of relief when he seemed to stop growing. It wasn't into he was sixteen that he hit another substantial growth spurt and by the time he was twenty, he literally towered over his family. He was over seven feet tall.
As Nico grew up, every stranger he met always though he was much older than he really was, treating the barely teenaged boy like an adult. This caused Nico to feel very insecure about his height and felt that he needed to act more maturely to fit his height. As a result, Nico is remarkably calm and patient for his age, and amazingly gentle. He's afraid of hurting someone due to his size.
His youth and teen years were fairly uneventful. It was when he neared his twenty-fifth birthday that something strange happened. It as often Nico's habit to go on long walks when he needed to think. But one walk was interrupted by an old man. The man shoved a strange metallic book into his hands, followed by a ring that he slit onto Nico's thumb and a rather manky old towel. The only thing the old man told him was "Take these. You'll need them. And you should always remember where your towel is. And salt. Lots of salt" before patting Nico on his shoulders and running off.
The encounter lasted a grand total of ten seconds and Nico just stood there completely dumbfounded by the strange words and even stranger items that had been shoved into his hands. He looked at the book with skepticism and read the cover. "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" Nico simply assumed that the man was a deranged hobo but couldn't bring himself to discard the items. Except the towel. The towel was threadbare and rank with the smell of old fish. It was tossed in the nearest bin as he made his way home.
It was in the comfort of his own home that he decided to open the book and see what all the fuss was about. To his surprise, it was actually more of a computer that operated by voice command. As he experimented with it, he found that all he had to do was simply ask it a question and a rather chipper and friendly voice narrated the contents will showing rather entertaining and sometimes comical moving images to follow the narration. Nico finally felt it prudent to ask. "What is a 'Hitchhiker'?"

The book then went into full detail explaining the origins of the hitchhiker, The first known hitchhiker to willingly give his name was a simple and inquisitive creature known as 'Ford Praxbeetle Ix' more commonly addressed as 'Ford'. It then went into great detail of the life of a hitchhiker, including some of the perils of the occupation. Essentially, Nico surmised that a hitchhiker was nothing more than a collector of information and writer for The Guide. Nico was thrilled.
