Rio was gone. She had spent a blissful 120 years married to the man. Given him several beautiful children; Leon, Fleur, Gavri, Roxy, and Nico.. adopted a human child whom she grew to adore named Kitty, had three beautiful grand daughters; Leia, Caitlyn, and Rowan with her twin brother, Tristain. And to top it all off, Rowan had married a timelord named John and they had given Maggie a great grand son, William, whom the whole family had come to call Avi. Everything felt like it was falling apart now. Her children were grown and had moved on with their lives.
Those pale blue eyes stared tearfully at Rio's tombstone and she eventually laid down on the plot, resting her head against the cool marble. Her hair, while mostly still the rich chocolate brown, had one big streak of white grey in her bangs. A sign of her age. Maggie decided it was time to start over and move on.. She was nearly 160 years old now.. It was time to regenerate.. she closed her eyes.... and she allowed herself to change.

It wasn't everyday that the TARDIS decided it was time for a detour, or rather it wasn't that it happened all the time. At least when the Doctor actually was paying attention. This time, the detour his TARDIS had taken him on, was well... rather important. Though he really wanted to question the choice of location. Considering he wasn't exactly keen on cemeteries, however, she did bring him there for a reason.
Sniffing the air he caught a rather familiar scent. One that had him worried and frantic at the same time. The Doctor rushed to where he thought the scent was coming from. He made it over to where a bright haired redhead seemed to be laying on the ground by a tombstone. The Doctor let out a soft sigh, bending down to pick up the young woman he knew to be Maggie. Or rather The Magpie.
As he carried her into his TARDIS, he quickly set her down carefully onto the control room couch. The Doctor started up the center column, flipping levers, and pushing buttons. When the ship was traveling in the time vortex, he glanced back over at his daughter than back at the controls.
She'd been unconscious for her regeneration. It was an involuntary side effect of the bullet that would forever be permanently lodged in her brain. She only faintly stirred when she was lifted, her head resting softly against his shoulder, fingers gently curling into the lapel of his suit jacket. She could only vaguely remember Leo doing this with her as a small child when she was upset or when she had passed out somewhere other than her bed.
Leo was gone, too, by this point in her life. It made her cling to The Doctor all the tighter and a whimper escaped her lips when he came to set her down.. After some time, those mismatched eyes finally forced themselves open. “Where... where am I?” she looked around. A Tardis control room. But.. It wasn't one she recognized.. not right away anyway. After all, All the memories of her first life were gone. She finally sat up and ran a hand through her hair.
Then there was a sudden pause. Her hair felt different. Thicker. Wavy. She pulled a handful of hair in front of her face and stared, awestruck. “Ginger.. That's new.. Ooh.. New voice.” she wobbled to her feet to stand at the console. Consoles always had a shiny surface somewhere. She wanted to see what had become of her. And as she got a good look at herself, she realized that the tall and curvaceous figure she had before was gone. “Oh god, I'm a twig!”
The Doctor straightened up, pressing one last button before answering her question. "You're on the TARDIS, Magpie. Well my TARDIS..." He sniffed a bit loudly as she started figuring out what had changed, what was new. "It's been awhile." He looked her over as she finally made her way to the center console. "New teeth too, I bet." The Doctor remarked as he gave her a playful grin.
"Careful," He warned as he wondered if he should help her steady herself or not. It worried him that she was standing so soon after her regeneration. So many things could go very wrong, and he still felt that he had to tell her... Most likely just blurting out, 'Hey, I know you don't know me all so terribly well, and we've only met a couple times... but I thought I should let you know, I'm your dad. Hi kiddo!' .. Well it didn't exactly feel like the right thing to say.
The Doctor chuckled as she mentioned how she now was resembling a twig. "Must run in the family," He mentioned, as his mind raced to find the right words. Still deciding if this was the right time to tell her, or perhaps he waited to late. Was she even going to like him as her father, or maybe... He really didn't want to think about that. "So... how are you?"
Oh, what was he waiting for?! She waited long enough, yeah? "I... We... need to discuss something rather... Well.." The Doctor scratched the back of his head, "Well... Rather important actually.. Very important if I'm to be perfectly honest here, and I'd really appreciate it if you.. If you didn't freak out afterward."
She blinked at the man for a moment, her head tilting to the side... 'been a while'? He felt familiar but she couldn't place where she'd seen him before. “Have... Have we met before?” New teeth? She ran her tongue experimentally over the new row of teeth curiously and smirked. Yep. Definitely different. Nice and straight too. “Yeah. That'll take some getting used to.” she replied lightly, a slight smirk playing in those vividly colored eyes. Considering she felt completely out of sorts, she was being rather well composed as she looked up at the man..
That was when she realized something else. Either he was freakishly tall or she had become quite short. She help up her hands staring at the pale fingers. Very long and thin fingers. She then folded her arms around her insecurely as she looked up at the man. His next statement had her brows arching in curiosity. “Run in the family? You knew my parents then?” Maybe that was how he knew her. Perhaps he had been a friend of Leo's and she just couldn’t remember.
He then, rather nervously, informed her that there was something they needed to discuss, “Yeah, alright.. I'm all ears” she chirped lightly as she leaned against the console. But when he warned her that he didn't want her to freak out, both those hearts started to beat rapidly. Oh god. He had bad news. That had to be it. Had something happened to Leon or Nico? Oh God.. Maybe it was her mum, Maria. She took an unsteady step backwards, almost stumbling before she sat back down on the console seat.
Perhaps he shouldn't have warned her about what he was going to say. Seeing as how she seemed to stumble down into the console seat. The Doctor watched her carefully, as he tried to figure out what it was he was going to say.
"Well... Magpie, you see." He began, coughing once. "I'm.. You're..." He smiled lightly at her, why did this seem harder than facing an army of Daleks? "Look, this isn't easy for me. In fact this is probably one of the hardest things I've had to explain."
He turned his focus to his TARDIS, wondering if it might be easier to show her. He looked back at her, before quickly typing into his console, trying to bring up the DNA chart. "Do you know what this is?" He asked as he moved over for her to take a look herself.
The Doctor pointed at the top one, "This, this here is my DNA. And that one.." He tapped the one directly underneath his, "That one right there is yours." This might not have been the best idea, but at the moment, it was the only thing that came to mind. "Do you understand?"
Her pale pale green eyes looked over the information that he was trying to show her. Yes, she was out of sorts, but she immediately caught on to what he was showing her. She wasn't sure what to think just then. The only think that came out of her was.. "You're my father, aren't you...." and she pulled her legs up against her chest to hug her knees and closed her eyes.
Normally this would have been joyful news.. But with a huge portion of her memories missing, half of her life a blur.. She didn't know what to make of him. Had she known him before she'd gotten shot and lost her memories? Why did he wait until now to come into her life?
Maggie didn't know whether to be happy or sad, Angry or confused.. All she could do was choke a quiet sob. She'd chosen to regenerate and start her life anew to help ease some of the pain, not to have thos whole mess open up in her face. She didn't know what to do.
