The Doctor closed the Tardis door after Clara, and rushed over to the controls. He turned around to face her, and leaned against the control panel. "Clara! Where do you want to go this time? New York? New New New York? Or maybe medieval Spain? Or Bath?." The Doctor finished his suggestions and turned to the control panel, already pressing buttons and typing in coordinate's. "Ohhh, how about France? They have the best bread ever there!" Before the Doctor could finish his ramblings the Tardis started shaking and spinning pinning The Doctor and Clara to the ground. The Doctor quickly got up, found his balance, and rushed to the controls to try and stabilize the Tardis and figure out what was wrong with it. The Doctor got the Tardis to land and helped Clara up. " Are you okay, no broken body parts?" After making sure Clara was okay the Doctor walked over to the monitor to see where they had landed. " Well the good news is that we have landed, the bad news is that it might not be what you expected." The Doctor straightened his bow tie and walked out the Tardis door, he immediately stopped to at least a dozen pirates pointing their weapons at him and Clara. The Doctor Put his hands up in a we come in peace gesture, and motioned for Clara to do the same.
The Doctor scanned his environment, all he could see was that he was on a pirate ship with a bunch of not so happy to see him pirates, with very sharp weapons. " Hello! I'am the Doctor, this is Clara, say hello Clara. And we are really sorry about interrupting what ever pirates do. And we will leave without bothering you. Again we are really sorry." The Doctor said putting on his most charming smile. Just then a woman wearing what must of been the captains out fit for the crew walked towards the Doctor and put her sword near his chest. From the gesture the Doctor immediately found out who's ship he had just landed on, and he wasn't very happy.
Setting : Pirate ship at sea Time of day: Mid Afternoon
Clara watched the Doctor run around the TARDIS, speaking a million miles a second, as his usual. She just played with the ends of her hair while he decided exactly where they were going. And then, with no warning, she was slammed to the floor. "Oi, Chinboy! You better tell me what the hell just happened!" She yanked herself up, just to see the Doctor running out the door. "Where could we have possibly appeared?"
She stepped out the door, and immediately had a sword shoved in her face. "Why do you always take me to the best places? Never a clothing store, or a big party. No, let's go to a pirate ship, or a haunted house, or a Russian submarine! And why should I say hi to someone who shoves a sword in my face? That would be like trusting my life with a madman, oh wait, I do that on a regular basis!" Clara lashed out a smack to the back of the Doctor's head. And then, a woman strode from between them all. She seemed to be the captain. Looked like it anyways. "Can you just go ahead and capture us, so we can move past that, and get to the part where we have some big crisis, and you find out the Doctor's just amazing, and he saves the day? Because I'm tired of seeing it every day!" She wasn't in the best mood after being slammed onto the TARDIS floor.
Suffice to say, Dante was getting pretty tired of random strangers landing in one way or another on her ship. So it was certainly fair that she appeared at least a bit grouchy at the arrival of this latest adventurer. Up until then, she had been in a relatively good mood. They had just gotten back from a fruitful raid, unloaded the kit and set down to doing whatever they wanted to. For Dante, this was lounging in the pilots chair with classical music blaring out over the bridge, hands waving in the air in an attempt at conducting and feet resting on the console. The piece in question? Rossini's 'The Thieving Magpie'. Lars and the rest of the crew had other opinions in her taste and had gone back to playing rummy on the deck below. All was peaceful, well, as peaceful as it could get on a pirate ship drifting lazily through vacant space carrying four rowdy crew members, oh, and Ood.
Just as the music was reaching the final crescendo, the peace was shattered by a familiar materialising sound. A quick glance into the mirror above the console con confirmed it. The pirate didn't even bother to get up, or even move for that matter. All she did was flick a switch that would get the rest of the crews attention and turned the music down slightly. "Don't you have an appreciation for classical music pretty boy?" She asked, pouting slightly and spinning around in the chair to face them. The doors from the side burst open and Lars, Dax and Irwin stormed in with rifles, arranging themselves in formation either side of Dante's chair and pointing them at the Doctor. The music finished triumphantly and the bridge drifted into a crackling silence.
"Crew, surely you remember the Doctor?" Dante asked with only a slight hint of mockery in her voice, ejecting herself from the chair and walking over to stand in front of the Doctor, for the moment ignoring his companion. She studied him up and down before raising an eyebrow and smiling wryly. "Much preferred the other version of you though, looked more the part." The pirate spoke the last part at a stage whisper, winking and sidestepping so she was in front of Clara. "Though your companion isn't much better. Why'd you get rid of the grouchy little guy? He was much more fun." Dante only cast a glance at Clara, bristling slightly before waltzing back over and settling back into the chair, crossing one leg over the other.
"But whatever brought you here? The ship's not on fire is it?" The woman intoned lazily, resting her elbow on the armrest of the chair and placing her chin in the hand. "Capture you?" The pirate laughed at Clara's outburst, the sound definitely mocking. "Eh, no. Don't be obvious." Dante clicked her fingers and nodded at the crew; them resignedly lowering their rifles and standing back beside the captain. "Computer, take pretty boy's ship to the hold and lock it down, we don't want our guests to leave prematurely. Oh, and Irwin, fetch Ood and bring something for our guests will you. We wouldn't want them to feel left out." The pirate's eyes glinted with what could be suspected as malevolence and the TARDIS was promptly surrounded by a bright white light and disappeared. Dante sprung up from the chair again and strode over to the Doctor, talking as she walked.
"The name's Dante Wilder, Cap'n Dante Wilder to you actually. And I'm sick and tired of intruders - on - my - ship." The last few words were punctuated by Dante prodding the Doctor in the chest with her blaster pistol, glaring at him grouchily. With that, she walked away back to the chair, looking back at them with a mischievous grin. "Welcome to The Vanquisher." She said, smiling maliciously. "I hope you enjoy your stay."
" No!No! NO! NO!" The Doctor raced to the already gone Tardis. He spun back to the Captain. "You didn't have to do that. We would have stayed if you just asked." The Doctor said while glaring at the captain. "I hope you enjoy your stay." After hearing the captains real name, the Doctor instantly forgot why he was angry at her and bounced over to Clara like a excited six year old. " Clara! Do you know who this is!? This is THE Captain Dante Wilder! The most feared space pirate in the Galaxy!" The Doctor said walking around Clara excitedly. " And we have the honor of being in her presence. Well not really a honor, we'll probably be killed in a horrible death, or be sold as slaves." The Doctor said pausing for a moment. " Captain Dante "Raider" Wilder, This is so exciting!" The Doctor said walking towards the captain.
Clara sighed as the TARDIS disappeared. A space pirate? No, the space pirate. Apparently being on the ship of the most feared space pirate was a great thing. At least it was to the Doctor. She was just wondering what the threat would be. Maybe it was her. Maybe it was a ghost. Maybe it was an ancient space monster, that would run away just from the sheer size of the mighty Chin. Clara giggled to herself at the thought.
Anyways, she found herself walking along with the Doctor, looking at Dante. "Enjoy our stay? Well, maybe if you leave chocolates on our pillow. Or you could just smack the Doctor. I might enjoy watching." She smirked at the Doctor, actually wanting to see it. He just put her on the deck of the most feared space pirate. And yet she was trusting him with her life. Maybe Clara was the one who was mad.
The sudden change in the demeanour of The Doctor had Dante wrinkling her nose and looking over at the remaining members of her crew in mild disdain. Sure, she was recognised. What gives? The pirate pouted and nodded graciously, chuckling under her breath as he finished. "I'm sure you want a medal for that speech Doctor, perhaps special consideration? Oh no, we won't kill you; frankly it would be quite boring." At the mention of slavers, the pirates face grew tight and she fixed the Doctor with a whithering glare. "We don't do business with the slaver scum. Why would we want to lower ourselves to that level?" The pirate asked the Doctor, as if everything she had said was obvious, with an exaggerated roll of her eyes.
"The pleasure's all yours, evidently." She chuckled, walking to meet him halfway and getting rather too close for comfort. "Is that a sonic screwdriver in your pocket? Or are you just pleased to see me?" The pirate winked and delved into the pocket to bring out the sonic screwdriver. She walked back over to the chair, mostly ignoring Clara (it must be her alpha female complex), turning the sonic screwdriver over in her hand. "I think you will enjoy your stay. Very much so. You're about to witness the making of history." Dante gestured with the sonic as she spoke before placing it into the box Lars had brought over. "Set a course doubletime - we got one chance at this." She ordered to Lars, the man's smile growing to match her own. He reached over and pushed the klaxon button before typing in co-ordinates to the computer. The bridge was bathed in red light as a low klaxon reverberated through out the ship.
"Oh, you beauty." The pirate breathed slyly, the image of the ship relaying on to one of the Vanquishers screens. She rubbed her hands together in anticipation as Lars and Dax ran off to get ready. Ood entered into the bridge holding a tray of tea and biscuits and set it down in front of the guests, before backing out and exiting the bridge, presumably to clear up.
The floating fortress floated in blue light on the bridge, measurements zooming all around it and constantly updating. "You see, pretty boy, this place took something that belongs to me. And I need it back. Normal explosives wouldn't open the doors, no, we needed you and your little device. And here you are!" The pirate threw her arms wide, laughing and turning back on the classical music. "What a coincidence!" She drawled, suggesting that it was anything but and her eyes glinted with mischief, not evil. "Dax, establish communications with Kabe's crew. Tell them we're good to go." The floating fortress was a prison that harboured the universes most dangerous criminals. Earlier this month, they had taken Kabe and Orion; her mentor and friend respectfully. As if to say 'thanks for all the memories', Dante and her crew had agreed to break them out with the help of Kabe's crew. The pirate took a deep breath and turned to Lars. "You know what to do." She said, suiting up herself and checking the charge on her pistols. Dante turned to the Doctor with a determined and passionate look on her face. "I hope you enjoy the show." She grinned, turning back to the screen and setting the ball rolling.
The Doctor couldn't believe what he was hearing. Dante was planning on using him and his sonic screwdriver to open the doors to the universes most dangerous prison. The Doctor walked up to Dante.
" Are you insane! You can't just go and open the doors to the most dangerous prison in the universe! And you certainly can not use my sonic for that purpose." The Doctor stared at Dante, with a determined look in his eyes. He was not going to let her go through with this ridiculous plan.
" I'm grabbing my sonic. And Clara and I are going. Understand?" The Doctor didn't wait for a reply he started to walk over to the box that held his sonic.
Clara, although not in the mood to be bossed around by pirates, stayed where she was. "Doctor, we don't have much of a choice. They could just shoot us, and take the screwdriver! We need to go along with this, because to them we're expendable. So, grab your Jolly Roger, we're gonna be pirates, Doctor." She looked at Dante, giving a short smile, before looking at the Doctor. Hopefully, he understood that she was implying they could stop these guys later. There was no way they were going to be able to now.
