"I'll have that right out for you, sir." Elizabeth hardly even looked up at the man as she scribbled away at the pad in front of her, making sure that she had everything the man had ordered before she turned away and began to weave her way through the tables of the restaurant. She made her way to the kitchen rather quickly, and after giving the order to the chef she turned around and just...waited.
It had been a long day, as far as she was concerned, and truth be told she just wanted to go home and forget it had happened at all. For one thing she'd been ridiculed in her classes today when she apparently had done a piece of artwork completely unrelated to the assignment she had been given, and had then further been told she would have to redo the entire piece altogether. It certainly hadn't put her in a good mood, and it didn't help all that much when she had then had to come to work either.
But she only had an hour left until her shift was done, and so in the meantime she was simply dreaming of getting home to a nice warm flat with a good cup of hot chocolate in hand and curling up with a good book on the couch in front of the hearth. Hopefully it would put a good end to the day.
"Order up!"
Elizabeth turned and grabbed the large plate of food and quickly turned to weave back through the tables once more, her mind still set elsewhere as she came up to the table with the strange man once more. "There you go, sir." She stated in her quiet voice as she placed the plate down in front of him before turning away and moving back to the counter once more.
"Annie, I'm going to head out for the night. I need the rest of the day to myself." She sighed softly, and the woman nodded sympathetically. "Alright, Lizzy. See you tomorrow." Elizabeth merely gave a quick nod and a slight smile before she grabbed her coat and scarf, pulling one on after the other before stepping out into the chilly London air.
Glancing around, she started down the walk, burying her hands in her pockets as she let her thoughts take her away. She hardly even noticed as she was passing an alley as the voices slipped out into the street. They were soft amid the din of the city, and it was because of all the extra noise that Elizabeth herself hardly almost missed it altogether. Almost.
Stopping, the young woman peered into the alley way with curiosity. At first it was hard to make out who was in there, but in a matter of minutes she soon was able to make out two figures -- one of which was the man from the restaurant that she had been serving before.
Knitting her brow in confusion, she tried to make out the other figure, but it was hard to tell. It looked almost....fish like, in a way, but Elizabeth brushed it off as nothing. 'Must be a trick of my mind.' After a moment she saw the man get up and move away, and for a moment she tried to decide as to whether or not she should leave the situation alone, but her artistic side wasn't going to let that happen. Her curiosity got the better of her, and after a moment she pulled her coat a bit tighter around her before she took off down the street, making sure to keep this strange man well enough in her sight.
The Time Lord walked along the street and came to a stop outside a restaurant. After some debate he entered the building, reading that a sign said that guests can seat themselves, well, he always came to this restaurant, seated himself at the same table he always uses. Removing his jacket and placing it on the back of his seat he let out a depressed sigh and rubbed at his eyes. Sensing someone in front of him, he looked up to the waitress, "I will have the fish and chips.. and a coke please." He told her.
The Nomad smiled at the young lady as she took his order to the kitchen. He looked out the window, for some reason it was best to look for a fish being when in a restaurant, maybe it was the glass. Who knows. Reaching into his pocket he got out his sonic screwdriver and soniced towards the glass, its beam flickered, nodding he put it back into his pocket. Then rested his chin in his hand as the Time Lord went into a deep thought.
Leaning out of the way as the waitress put a plate of food in front of him seemed to snap him out of his thoughts, "Thank you sweet heart." The Nomad said with a smile. He waited until she was at the main counter before digging in. He watched the waitress leave the building. After some time the Time Lord finished his meal. Having already paid for his dinner, he waved to the cook and other waitress as he made his way out.
Seeing his target he followed it into the alley, "A bit late for a stroll isn't it for a fish your age?" He asked it, the fish being turned around, speaking another language to him, "Oi watch your language." The Time Lord said as he stuffed his hands into his pockets, The Nomad failed to notice the waitress from before, the fish said something else, "Do not play dumb with me. Just go home." The fish took a step back. The Nomad raised an eye brow, the fish threw something and took off, the Time Lord kneeled down and picked it up, "Oh... What is this?" He asked, "It looks like a part to something..." He said as The Nomad came to a stand.
Pocketing whatever it was he decided it was time to make his way back to his TARDIS. Sniffing the air he could not smell who he was searching for, maybe he was not here. He sighed quietly as he walked out of the alley and started walking down the empty street towards a playground. Going around the corner rather quickly he entered his TARDIS, closing the door behind him.
Honestly, she had no idea as to what was going on. The strange man seemed to become even more strange as she followed him down the street, his mannerisms confusing. At times she had no idea as to what he was actually going to do next or as to where he might be heading, but she followed him regardless.
She didn't really think anything of it to start with. Truthfully, she was honestly just more curious to see where he was going than anything else, and so although she was paying attention to where he was going, she let her mind wander again. She didn't think to much about what it was he was doing, and simply just let her feet take her where ever it was that he was going.
It was when he disappeared as if into thin air that she was thrown off.
"Where....?" Elizabeth murmured softly, her brow knitting as she peered around her, trying to determine what had just happened. She had seen him heading towards the playground, she know she had. So how could he have just disappeared like he just did? It didn't seem possible. But yet....the evidence was seemingly staring her in the face.
Elizabeth began to walk around slowly, trying to figure out where it was he had disappeared to. But there was just....nothing. The young woman was ready to give up and just go home like she had planned, and as she turned around and started walking back she was going to stay true to that plan. Before she bumped into an object she didn't even see.
Stumbling, she looked up confused as she rubbed her arm, but it was just thin air that she was staring at. For a moment she didn't do anything, waiting to see if it would somehow change and form a lamp post or something that she just simply didn't see, but it remained the same the entire time. After a few more moments she moved forward and slowly reached out, and....well, there was something there.
"How in the world? How is this possible?" She murmured again as she ran her hands over the surface of...whatever it was. She moved around, pressing gently and just feeling whatever this invisible object was, and after a moment she felt something give. A spark of curiosity was lifted in her once again, and for a second she took a deep breath before she gently pushed again and stepped forward to explore whatever it was she had just found.
The Nomad put the phone down, letting out a heavy sigh he looked at the computer screen, seeing nothing of interest he walked down the corridor.
Turning into the kitchen he got a glass down and filled it with water. Take small mouth fulls, it took him some time to empty the glass. Setting the glass down he looked at the counter, it was a little too quiet, he missed The Phantom and his son. He hoped that he will be able to find Silas soon.
Setting the glass into the dishwasher, then walked out of the kitchen to the control room, there he waited for the machine to finish scanning, his elbows on the control center and his head in his hands he waited. Failing to notice the waitress entering his ship.
Her steps were cautious and slow as she came into the invisible....thing. She wasn't really sure what to make of what it was she was seeing as she entered, since it was quite obvious that with the size of where she was there was no way what she had felt outside just now could be contained here. It just wasn't possible.
And yet....somehow it was. This strange machine, since that was what it seemed to be to her, was certainly nothing, well....human. The technology appeared to be far to advanced for this to be of Earth origin. But what did that mean, exactly, because what else could it be? It wasn't like it was alien technology....was it?
But as she slowly moved up the small ramp before her, eyes darting about she knew that there probably was no other answer, and with that answer came a whole new perspective. The artistic side of her brain soon took over, and in an instant she was seeing everything in a different way. The different colors and shapes, the contrast and the textures, all of it. It was just so....amazing to her.
But then she remembered why she had even come in here in the first place.
It was at that moment Elizabeth her footsteps, and upon turning around she spotted him. The man. 'Time to figure out what's going on.' Taking a deep breath Elizabeth moved forward, a determined expression set on her features as she came to a stop not far from him. "Who are you, and what in the name of God am I standing inside?"
The Nomad put his hands down onto the console, his hands pressed against it as he stared at the controls, taking in deep breaths.
"Who are you, and what in the name of God am I standing inside?"
The Nomad blinked in confusion as he turned around to see the waitress from the restaurant he ate his dinner at, "How? You followed me?" He might as well be polite and answer her questions, as it was obvious that she followed him, "This is a TARDIS, I'm The Nomad.. you can call me Leo." The Time Lord replied. Looking at her, yeah she looked like she was determined and trying to be brave, but this old Time Lord could tell that she was scared.
Leaning against the control center, and crossing his arms he looked at her, "Why did you follow me?" He was okay with it was that the waitress was just curious and wanted to leave, he got a lot of people that approached him for that reason. Some of them claimed they saw him handling an alien and followed him thinking he was a member of Torchwood, which he was not a member of.
As she stood there watching him and waiting, she couldn't help but continuously glance around at this strange thing she was in. She wondered if she should have just gone home like she had originally planned, but Elizabeth knew that she probably would have followed the man here anyways.
It was when he spoke to her finally that she was startled out of her thoughts. "A TARDIS? What is that?" Elizabeth asked. It could have been some top secret government project or something of similar nature, but deep down she knew that couldn't be the truth. It was most definitely a lot more than that.
Elizabeth stared at the strange man, the Nomad or...whatever his name was, slowly crossing her arms across her chest as she leaned against the railing of the ramp, secretly still trying to process all of this around her before she slowly began to answer his question to her. "I saw you in the alley with some...some thing....Figured I'd investigate more when I saw you walking off..."
Elizabeth narrowed her eyes slightly as she took a couple of steps forward, stopping when she was near the console. "What would you do if you saw a strange person talking with a fish man? Wouldn't you be a bit curious too?" She didn't know where she was or what it was exactly she was standing in, but what she was sure of was that there was definitely something off about this guy. Elizabeth wasn't exactly comfortable with the situation she was in at the moment, but she wasn't leaving until she got some answers.
"The TARDIS is my ship, it can travel to any region of the universe and to any time, even to the past and future." The Nomad replied. He found that explanation the easiest way to get the message through of what it can do, although some needed more than just being told of what his ship can do.
"I saw you in the alley with some...some thing....Figured I'd investigate more when I saw you walking off..."
"Ah..." He looked down for a moment, "I see.. yeah that is how a lot of people find out about me." The Time Lord said, "That is not even half of what I do.. fish people are a walk in the park to deal with." He told her.
"What would you do if you saw a strange person talking with a fish man? Wouldn't you be a bit curious too?"
The Time Lord had to think for a moment, choosing his words carefully he wanted to hint her into the fact that he was an alien and not a human as he appeared to be, "I.. I do not know what it is like to be human.. so if you want an answer you have to ask that if it was me as what I am or a Earth human." He replied. Yes he made himself human once to hide but that was so long ago and he lost memory of that and his early life before he made himself into a human, and some memories of being a human.. no it was not that exciting at all.
"Any time? So...you could go to any point in history?" She asked softly. She wasn't really sure what to say if he confirmed her suspicions, since this was certainly way beyond her normal boundaries at this point. She turned away from him, fidgeting slightly as she ran her fingers through her hair, glancing around at the inside of the TARDIS to distract herself for a few moments.
It worked well enough, but as the subject of fish people was brought up again she turned her gaze back, glancing at him over her shoulder. "Now you're telling me that you can travel wherever and that there are different types of aliens too?" It was all starting to get a bit ridiculous, or that's how it felt to her at least. Truthfully, if it weren't for her standing where she was right now she would have definitely believed that this was all some weird bad dream that had been the result of some bad chicken just like the last time she had had weird dreams.
Turning just a bit more Elizabeth glanced sideways at the Nomad, watching him for a few more moments before she turned her attention to the console in front of her. The designs weren't intricate in any way, but the way things were set up were quite interesting. She reached out slowly, running her fingers along the edge of the console for a moment and just listening to the soft hum before she turned her attention back to this man.
"...Are you saying that you aren't human?" Elizabeth asked after a while. He certainly looked human, but after the information she was continuing to receive from him, she was beginning to realize that she probably was going to find out many more surprises before the night was done.
"Now you're telling me that you can travel wherever and that there are different types of aliens too?" And here comes the endless questions, The Nomad told himself, being sure to try to keep his cocky side locked away.
The Nomad quickly nodded with a grin, "Yep.. and yes." he replied. He watched as Elizabeth walked up to the control console and ran her fingers along the edge before looking back to him.
"...Are you saying that you aren't human?"
"Nope.. I am not a human at all." The Time Lord said with a small shake of his head, looking to her he moved away from the control console, "I'm a alien from another planet that is now lost and have been traveling around since then." He said as The Nomad dropped onto the couch, his arms spread out on the back and looked at the Earthling, "I am a 735 year old Time Lord." He finally told her.
