When the ten year old, energetic fuzz ball genie opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was...well, her hair. It seemed to be in a more...bouncy mood today than usual. Grinning, Elysia happily hopped out of bed...and, in her haste to get up and start her day, she caught her foot on the chest of drawers beside her bed. She fell headlong and hit the floor with a thankfully quiet thump. A small grunt of pain left her lips as she pulled herself up, and seconds later she was smiling again and practically skipping around her room. That was general Elysia behavior; she was rarely sad for long. She wandered over to her wardrobe and opened it, still smiling happily for no apparent reason. She was a very cheerful child, obviously. Perhaps a little...too cheerful, if that was possible.
Elysia pulled out her favorite rainbow cardigan, and a purple skirt that stopped just under her knees. The skirt had lilac frills at the bottom and Ely adored it, despite the fact that usually she liked jeans more than skirts. She also pulled out a red t-shirt with a bunny on it, and her battered (but comfy) red sneakers. Even though she wasn't going anywhere, she liked wearing shoes in the house. For whatever reason. Once Elysia was washed and dressed and had attempted to brush her hair, she went down stairs to see what there was to eat, since she was suddenly hungry.
Since she was too lazy to find any actual cereal, Elysia just grabbed the closest food to her, which was an apple. She munched on it happily, and sat down at a chair at the kitchen table. As she nommed on her apple, Elysia pondered on what she was going to do for the rest of her day. She did this a lot, since boredom made her feel...bored and sad, and she hated feeling like that. But it was rarely boring around the house she lived in, so she didn't really have to plan things out...but she did anyway. That wasn't the way an average 10 year old's mind worked, but Elysia was not an average 10 year old...oh no. Not only was she a genie, but her cheerfulness and energy and her way of seeing things really made her stand out. She thought of this as she took another bite of her apple, but her mind didn't dwell on it for too long. She was too preoccupied thinking about bunnies...because when you're a ten year old your thoughts change pretty quickly.
Twitch was lazily floating in the swimming pool in the backyard, staring at the early morning sky. Unlike Charlie, he didn't require sleep. And Twitch was such a busy body that he found that, with bringing up Lissy, she was a bit more adamant about her sleep. So while his two most treasured and beloved ladies dolled the hours away in sleep, he remained up to keep watch. This house in which they resided, he had made for them, manipulating his energy.
When he first found out that Charlie had become pregnant, He was protective of her before, but something had clicked in him. He would willing lay down his life, encasing himself in a steel box lined in salt to ensure her safety. Ten years later, the protectiveness never wavered, although he was far less intense with his mannerisms. He was well away when he for a certain way, he could be rather intimidating.
He closed his eyes, listening for the sounds of a certain bushy haired little genie. A smirk twitched onto his lips and curled himself into a ball, letting his body sink into the water and his body suddenly vanished. His pale purple energy darting from the water and into the kitchen where Elysia was happily munching on an apple. In a sense, Twitch was no stranger to being a father. He had many fledglings, Blue, to name one of them. But Elysia was different. She was rare and special. Genies were not common among his kind and so, Twitch was not sure what all the child was capable of.
It was time to find out. He suddenly materialized on the kitchen counter and crossed his legs, his elbow resting on his knee, his chin in his hand as he chuckled. “Good Morning, Lissy! You ready for a big day?”
As Elysia munched on her apple, she looked around her surroundings. She absolutely loved this house; most likely because she'd been raised here, but all the same, she did. Upon thinking about being raised here, though, Elysia wondered where her parents were. She knew her mother was most likely asleep (she did a lot of that, Lissy had noticed), but her dad was nearly always awake before her. Elysia wasn't sure if he slept or not, but she doubted it. She had once heard him saying something about protecting herself and her mum, but she wasn't sure how exactly he did that. She pondered about it, before finally concentrating on her apple again, taking another bite from it. One minute, Elysia was looking at some of the stuff in the kitchen, the next minute, she looked forward and there was Twitch, perched happily on the kitchen counter. The child's eyes lit up at the sight of him. "Morning, Daddy!" she chirped happily. Elysia loved both of her parents equally, but at her young age she was rather a daddy's girl. She wasn't aware of that, though.
Elysia finished her apple and then tilted her head at Twitch curiously, her hair bobbing around slightly as she did so. "Of course I'm ready!" she said happily. Then she paused. "But why is today a big day? Is it really really special? Like birthdays?" Elysia offered. She didn't think there was a birthday today...not one that she was supposed to know, anyway, but Lissy had always been fascinated by birthdays. Presents and happiness and...oh, they were just so exciting! It was for that reason that on most special days, Elysia compared them to birthdays. She wouldn't always do it, because as children grow up old habits slowly fade away, but at the age of 10 it was a daily thing. She grinned at Twitch, swinging her legs slightly. She wasn't too short, but her legs didn't quite touch the ground when she sat on chairs.
"Of course I'm ready!.... But why is today a big day? Is it really really special? Like birthdays?"
“Even better.. and far more important.” he nodded with confidence. Well, at least he looked confident. On the inside, he was a nervous wreck. There was just no telling what his daughter could be capable of. Pure fledglings could manipulate space and matter, in small ways, even time to create small pocket universes by the time they were a week old. But this little genie was ten years old and he'd never seen so much as a hiccup of power from her. Could she even do anything like him? Or was she more like Charlie? Today was the day to find out.
“I'm going to show you some tricks that I want you to try. We'll start small.” he said encouragingly, and plucked an orange from the fruit basket on the counter and plopped it into her hand. “Let's turn these into grapes!” he chirped cheerfully and sat, cross-legged on the counter to watch how she reacted to his rather odd request. Twitch had always told her she was special and different but until he felt confident in playing the part of a caretaker, the exact nature of what his little girl was, was kept from her. “Just... take your time, my little water baby. No rush.”
Elysia tilted her head with a light giggle. "More important than birthdays?" she clarified. Well, this was sure to be fun! She pushed some of her wild hair away from her face, her eyes full of excitement as she waited to know what exactly was so important. If she was a dog, her tail would be wagging at 50 miles per hour at the moment. When Twitch started talking again, Elysia listened carefully. When he picked up an orange and told her to turn them into grapes, the little girl's eyes widened a bit at first. "I can do that?" she wondered aloud. But, not even for a second doubting her father's knowledge, she nodded determinedly. She didn't know exactly how to go about this, but, after a moment or two of thinking, the ten year old tucked some hair behind her ear.
She let her gaze fall onto the orange and, still confident and determined, she focused on it. Okay, so it took her a couple of tries and a few long minutes, but, when Lissy shut her eyes and imagined (with all of her little mind) the orange shaping into grapes, she felt something - sort of like a little tingle going through her, and when she opened her eyes, the orange was, indeed, turning to grapes. When the change was complete, Elysia let out a happy giggle and clapped her hands. "I did it!" she said happily. She felt rather proud of herself, and more excitement was running through her veins. She was eager to do something similar. "What else shall I do, Daddy?" she asked. After all, alone, she had no idea what else she was capable of. And, according to herself, Daddy and Mummy knew everything. So Twitch's guidance was needed here, obviously.
