Kianna was meandering down the streets of probably the most common city in England; London, of course. She'd been there a dozen times, sure, but for some reason she just never got bored of it. It was so...noisy and intriguing and...just so many things about it made Kianna want to be there as much as shr could. She hadn't been in a while, though, so she'd decided to treat herself to a Starbucks Caramel Dream and a relaxing day in the park. Even just a relaxing day in London was something Kianna considered as fun. She didn't even know why that was, but there you go.
Kianna walked into Starbucks, breathing in the coffee like scent. She loved the smell of this place, as weird as that ssounded. It wasn't too busy, which surprised her; it was a rather lovely Saturday afternoon, and it was often busy on days like this. Shrugging it off, Kianna walked up to the very small queue and waited patiently for her turn, a bright and polite smile ready on her lips even before she got to the front of the queue. When she got there, she gave the person at the counter a big smile and ordered her drink, telling him her name to write on the cup.
When her drink was ready, she thanked the man and left, heading to the park she knew was pretty much deserted. When she got there, she sat casually and carefully on a swing, trying not to move as she took a couple sips of her drink, smiling as she looked around the quiet park. Sure, she'd be having more fun right now with company , but that wasn't to say she wasn't enjoying herself....okay, so she wasn't having the best time, but she wasn't totally bored and plus she had only been there two minutes. She sipped her drink again and looked around, seeing if anything big or dramatic was going on,but there didn't seem to be any. It was obviously just an ordinary day. Still, maybe it was an ordinary day that Kianna could use to make a friend..and that idea, of course, made her perk up considerably. Friends were good, and she wanted to make as many of them as possible. People passing by probably thought she was crazy...she had this huge beaming smile on her face and she was sipping a Starbucks drink on a swing. Did she care what they might be thinking? Not really.
Emmy slid into the seat next to the red-haired girl. She had a cup of hot chocolate in her hands, the signature smirk curled on her lips as she stared at her. Emmy shifted her swings so that she was facing the girl. She didn’t seem extraordinary – just like a random girl from the streets, but Emmy knew better. She knew how to spot an alien when she saw one, and she definitely saw one in this girl. A rather fashionable alien who liked Starbucks, but still an alien. Emmy knew to play it cool – she and the Doctor had gotten off on the wrong foot and now he avoided her in at least four regenerations.
“Hey,” she said, swinging gently as she took a sip of her hot coffee. Her scarf was wrapped her neck tightly and her coat concealed a very vaguely rounded stomach carefully. “I thought you might be lonely,” she said. “And I just got off work, and there’s really nothing for me to do at home…” Emmy grinned and began to kick her legs a bit more, swinging just a little higher, with her grip still tight on her drink. “So, I thought to myself… why not sit next to the pretty girl who looked lonely?”
All right, so she was laying it on a bit thick, but that was just how Emmy rolled. She rarely ever went through with anything, and she absolutely hated commitment, even of the ‘friendship’ type. “What are you doing all alone on a Saturday afternoon?”
Kianna became aware of someone else's presence on the swing next to hers, and so she looked. And there she saw a blonde woman (a very attractive blonde woman, as a matter of fact), who had this kind of smile on her lips...or was it a smirk? Well, whatever. She seemed to be holding a cup of hot chocolate. The redhead smiled brightly at the blonde. "Hi!" she responded happily. When the blonde commented about how Kianna might have been lonely, she nodded a bit. "I was, actually." she admitted with a grin. "Any day always becomes better with company, after all." she added. That was actually what Kianna thought; days with friends...or, y'know, days making friends were days spent perfectly. That sounded rather cheesy, though, so she wasn't about to say that whole thing. She listened to what else the blonde had to say, and when she referred to her as 'the pretty girl who looked lonely', Kianna blushed, although she tried (and most likely failed...she couldn't tell. This was one of those moments where she wished she could see herself) to hide it. "Well, I appreciate it." she said, smiling at the blonde again. It had only been about two minutes and Kianna already liked her; she was talkative and she complimented her...yeah, that was always a plus.
At the blonde's next question, Kianna thought for a moment, pursing her lips slightly as she did so...she did that a lot when she was thinking nowadays and she had absolutely no idea why. "This is going to sound pathetic, but I don't really have any friends I can hang out with and I was bored staying at home, so I decided to go get a Starbucks drink and just relax at the park. I was starting to get a bit bored just before you came over, though." she admitted with a bit of a chuckle. It was then that Kianna realized she was being rather rude...she hadn't even told this woman her name! Kianna inwardly scolded herself, but outwardly her eyes glittered a bit. "I'm Kianna. And what's your name? Is it as pretty as you?" Okay, hold on. Where had that come from? Was that flirting? Kianna pondered on it for a moment. Yes, it probably was. Ah well. She didn't really care. It was kind of fun, anyhow, and what harm could a little bit of flirting do?
Emmy chuckled as the girl mentioned that she didn’t have many friends. “I know how that feels,” she said lightly. Although… truth be told, Emmy wasn’t worried about friends. She didn’t want to deal with the emotional hassle that came with being friends with someone. She was self-centered in the way that she knew that she always came first to herself. Having a friend would compromise that. “It isn’t a very fun way to stay,” she said thoughtfully. “Though the Starbucks thing is nice,” she conceded.
“Kianna…” Emmy said thoughtfully, saying her name slowly and deliberately. “A beautiful name, though I didn’t expect anything else,” Emmy smiled cheekily. She didn’t find many girls that took to her flirting as easily as Kianna seemed to. Her smile only widened as Kianna returned the playful banter. She turned in her swing to face the girl, tilting her head to the side slightly. “I don’t know if it’s as pretty as I am. I’ll let you be the judge of that. It’s Emmy,” she told her, a grin curved on her features.
Kianna smiled slightly as the girl said she knew how it felt to not have many friends. She shrugged lightly. "I've always thought it's just that people can't handle how much awesome I am all in one person." she said. That was pretty much what she'd always thought, though that wasn't something she tended to say out loud much. Sure, while the girl beside her was pretty, Kianna didn't exactly care what she thought of her. When the woman said it wasn't a fun way to stay, Kianna shrugged again, looking thoughtful for a couple of moments. "Yeah, I guess that's true, but why should you go hunting for friends? I mean, you meet people, you get to know them, and if you become friends that's great, but if you don't, it's their loss. I suppose that's the way I've always thought about it, at least."
When Kianna heard the blonde say her name was beautiful, she grinned. "Well thank you, but I bet you say that to all the girls you meet." she replied, grinning. When the blonde informed Kianna of her name, she grinned even more. "Mmhmm, definitely as pretty as you. Just as I thought." she told the blonde, smiling. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Emmy." she added, taking another sip of her drink. "D'you come here a lot?" she asked curiously, grinning over at the blonde yet again. It was like the smile wasn't disappearing from her features, today. "To keep the pretty girls alone on the swings company?" her grin was now a more cheeky one, and she winked slightly, playfully. This was much better than sitting here alone with a Starbucks drink, Kianna had to admit.
