Face Claim: Gary Entin
Name: Vega
Age: 3 (equivalent of 18)
Gender: Male
Species: Karlaithyan
Planet of Origin: Karlaithya
Occupation: Former gladiator.
Physical Description: At a glance, Vega seems to be a rather attractive young man. However, he's considered quite plain on his home world. He has dark brown, nearly black, hair and piercing bright purple eyes. Although on Earth and in other parts of the universe this may seem odd or unusual, on Karlaithya it’s akin to having brown eyes. He has an identical twin brother and, up until he obtained a scar on his eyebrow, even their own family couldn’t tell them apart.
Even without the scar, there are other small ways to tell the twins apart. While Io had a more round and youthful face, Vega has a more pronounced jaw line and sharp cheekbones. And just barely half an inch taller than his brother. Vega stands with defiant confidence.
He dresses plainly, in an identical manner to his brother. Long sleeve dark grey cardigans, a white long sleeve dress shirt beneath that, a dark blue tie and dark blue slacks. He and his brother are often confused from Private School students. Vega prefers to keep his body concealed due to the ammound of scars on his body aquired from beinf forced to fight for the entertainment of others. Usually only in the company of his brother will he wear anything more revealing.
Personality:
Vega doesn't like to get into the mix of things. He prefers to sit back and observe. He often will not answer questions, even when directly asked of him and will usually only exchange words with his brother, Io. He likes to think he is above the situation and observes everything with a cold indifference. It is not to say that he is without emotions but after what he and his brother were forced to endure, he keeps his emotions very well guarded.
Vega's mind is always working. He refuses to be caught by surprise with anything. He is always trying to calculate all the possible positive and negative outcomes of any given situation and tries to plan accordingly. Because of this, he is quick to come to decisions and will not bend from his choices. There is not much that frightens Vega anymore. He approaches people without fear. And while he doesn't trust easily, once he feels he can trust you, he becomes fiercely protective. But if anything causes his faith in someone to waver, he does not extend that trust again.
Vega was not always so closed minded to other species, but after their abduction from their home planet, Vega has an immediate dislike of others, mostly humans. He is well aware that the actions of a single group should not represent an entire species, but Vega is determined that he and his brother, Io, will not be taken advantage of again.

Additional Medical Information: Larger lung system due to thin air on home planet. Better lung capacity and can run further and hold breath longer.

History:
The beginning of Vega's life is something of a blur to him. It wasn't a difficult or unpleasant childhood, but he has pushed most of those memories from his mind. When they were children, they were very much alike in personality. Open minded and inquisitive. If you really wanted to know about his early past, He'd just tell you to ask his Twin Brother, Io.
The clearest memories that Vega has were when he and his brother began their pilgrimage into Theofuges, the mountain ranges where the gods were rumored to live. It was their way of becoming closer to their deities and as Io and Vega were going into the mountains on their pilgrimage, Io had voiced his concerns about possibly not coming back. Their older sister, Seluna, never came back from her journey and many suspected she had died. Vega comfortingly reassured him that Seluna had probably just wandered and gotten lost or just decided not to return home.
The journey to The Theofuges was a long and sometimes treacherous one; steep climbs, chilling winds, and thick mist that kept the mountain range covered in a mysterious shroud. About three weeks into their journey, The Twins came across a strange vessel. Being the inquisitive creatures that they were, decided to look into it. Vega was reluctant at first but with encouragement from his brother, they got closer. When someone emerged, the twins froze. The men were dressed in shimmering metallic enviro suits, a strange device in their mouths.
The device was to help with oxygenating them since the air of Karlaithya was so thin. Io and Vega stood in awe. No one had ever come to their world before, not that anyone had ever documented before. Since the twins were so very near to the summit, Vega was certain they had found the home of the Gods. Io wasn't convinced at first, until the strangers spoke. The voice was loud and crackled. Disconnected in a way. The strange beings were actually speaking through communicators. The language that filtered through was an old dialect of their language. The twins were naïve to the tech of other worlds and and found themselves convinced they had found their gods.
The 'Gods' invited them on board their vessel, with promises of lavished treatment, and the chance to see the stars. Being of scientific minds, Io and Vega could not resist the temptation. Their treatment was exactly what they had promised. They had their own sleeping quarters on board the extravagant star ship, they were waited upon like kings and their every request was granted. The twins were certain that they had found paradise and were being rewarded for their devotion to their faith. There were others aboard the ship with similar stories. All from different planets and star systems. These benevolent entities came down from the stars to grant them a better life.
But, what came next, no one was expecting. Io and Vega were abruptly awoken from their sleep by loud and angry shouts. Vega tried to demand to know what was going on, but he was quickly silenced with a nearly crippling jolt of electricity to the ribs. All the 'guests' were led from the ship and stepped out into the blistering heat of a desert planet with three suns. Being used to such cold climates on their home world, Io and Vega immediately had trouble breathing in the high dry temperatures. The only thing that ket them breathing was that this barren planet had thicker atmosphere.
As they were led to a massive stone building, it quickly became clear what had happened. Everyone was fitted with collars and led into dark rooms, only straw strewn on the floor as a bed. They had unwittingly become slaves. The females and a few select males were sold or bartered off for 'company'. The rest were packed off towards a gladiatorial styled arena and were forced to learn to fight. Io refused to fight and his 'owners' made a point to punish him for his defiance. Vega went into a blind rage when a whip was used on his brother and went at a trainer. By the time, Vega had calmed down and realized what was happening, the trainer was dead, his face beaten in, vega's knuckles swollen and bleeding and several guards trying to pull him off.
It became obvious that Io was Vega's weak spot. The trigger needed to get him to fight. Vega unwillingly made the agreement to become their gladiator so long as Io never saw another moment in the arena. Of course, their captors lied. They continued abusing and beating Io, trying to turn him into a fighter like his brother had so readily become. It had become their idea of entertainment to get the twins to the same level of ferocity, make them cold and indifferent barbarians, and then turn them loose on each other and see who would kill the other.
This treatment continued for nearly a tear before the slavers became bored and decided to pit the brothers against the other. Io and Vega were now riddled in scars and well toned. As the brothers entered the ring, Something happened that not even they expected. All that rage and hatred for the treatment they had endured, they were prepared to simply claps hands and let their captors kill them rather than kill each other. But the moment their hands met, there was a spark between them. Despite the roar of the crowd that had gathered to watch the fight, the only thing the twins could hear was each other. Their thoughts were in each other's heads, their hearts began to slow as their pupils constricted into pinpricks. The only think that echoed in their minds was 'Fire'.
Io reached out with his mind, and although there was nothing there, everyone could see and hear the roaring flames, smell the smoke and the burning flesh. With Vega synced up with his brother, his mind was able to make the illusion physically painful. Everyone's nerves felt raw, exposed and as though they were truly on fire. The howls of pain and agony, people throwing themselves from balconies to escape a fire that wasn't there, stampeding over each other to flee from an imaginary inferno. Everyone, even the other slaves, were killed in the incident. Everyone but one girl who seemed immune to their terrible telepathic abilities.
Vega was content to leave the woman behind, but she pleaded her case that before the abduction, she was a skilled pilot and could most likely figure out the controls to help them
escape the planet. It was Io who convinced Vega to let her help. Despite the treatment, Io still maintained his kind and optimistic personality. Vega had become cold and untrusting of anyone but his brother.
They managed to leave the planet but shortly into their escape, the ship had a critical malfunction. It turned out that the ship had a warp 10 drive and was capable of time travel. It was this feature that had malfunctioned and the three of them were violently hurtled through time and space. The woman could not keep up with the rate of travel and had no choice to to crash land on the nearest planet. By the time the ship finally slowed due to running out of fuel, that planet.. Was Earth. The woman did not survive the crash.
So now, Io and Vega find themselves lost on a strange planet nearly fifty years into their relative future... And with no way to get home, Io and Vega simply try to blend and get by.
