Faceclaim: Tommy Knight
Name: Luke Smith, The Archetype, Ashley Staffford, David Beckham
Age: Appears as a human teenager, around the age of 16, but is actually younger
Gender: Male
Species: Artificial Human
Planet of Origin: Earth
Occupation: Sarah Jane Smith’s son, helps protect Earth from alien invasion
Physical Description: Luke Smith appears to be a young teenage boy with short chocolate brown hair. He has grey eyes and is relatively normal sized. He has perfect teeth and perfect complexion due to his enhanced immune system and genetic perfection.
Personality: When Luke was created as the Archetype by the Bane, he could immediately talk and understand human speech. However he did not understand the way of the human world, he was socially awkward and somewhat naïve. He was oblivious to the way people reacted to him and did not understand emotions, once denying his own feelings for Rani.
However once he forms a close knit friendship with Clyde and Rani he quickly begins to learn how to be a human teenager. He however, due to his analytic thinking, is very literal and horrible at using metaphors. He also has a terrible sense of balance making it difficult for him to do sports and use a skateboard.
History: Luke Smith was created by the Bane during their invasion of Earth. He was awakened by Kelsey Hooper when she accidentally set off an alarm with her phone. Luke, though at the time he was known as the Archetype, joins Maria Jackson and Sarah Jane Smith in the fight against the Bane. He helps them defeat the Bane by memorizing the call to summon them by using the Star Poet's phone. He destroys the Bane Mother and their Bubble Shock factory. Later on Sarah Jane adopts the Archetype and renames him Luke Smith.
Luke soon became an asset to the team, consisting of him, Sarah Jane Smith, Clyde Langer, and Maria Jackson, his naiveté toward human nature proves to be a dangerous yet helpful flaw in him. His naiveté causes him to run into some trouble with the Slitheen and further into his history with other aliens. However his intelligence also proves to be quite helpful in other areas such as when he comes up with the idea to use Mr. Smith to contact the Doctor when Dalek’s invade Earth.
Luke was introduced to the Tenth Doctor when he helped Torchwood (Jack Harkness, Ianto Jones, and Gwen Cooper), UNIT (Martha Jones), and Harriet Jones, contact the Doctor using Mr. Smith to send the call to Martha Jone’s phone which was on the Doctor’s TARDIS. Later after the Doctor’s final battle with the Master and as he is dying, Luke is saved by the Doctor from being run over by a car.
Luke later befriends a girl named Rani Chandra, who has just moved into Maria’s house, and after failing to keep what he and his mother does a secret from her she joins the team in Maria’s place. Maria has moved with her father to Washington DC. Also after the battle with Martin Trueman who used the Ancient Lights to control humanity, Luke gains the anniversary of his victory as his birthday thanks to Sarah Jane.
Luke hands his mother over to Peter Dalton at her wedding. However the wedding turns out to be a plot from the Trickster. After being sent into limbo through a time trap, and with the help of Rani, Clyde, the Tenth Doctor, and his TARDIS, Luke helps defeat the Trickster and saves Sarah Jane Smith. Later on he falls ill for the first time when he was infected by the spores of the Rakweed plant that was gifted to him by a family from Blathereen. Mr. Smith and Sarah Jane work to save him from dying. Mr. Smith finally saves Luke when he destroys the plant that infected him.
Luke is accepted into the University of Oxford and the resulting anxiety this causes his mind to be open to attack. The creature known as the Nightmare Man invades his mind and forces him into a sleep he cannot wake from. The creature uses him as a way to enter the world and force its population into similar dream states. Luke with the help of Rani and Clyde defeat the creature, afterwards Luke leaves for college and keeps in touch through video cam. While at college he is accompanied by K9. He does return home once to help rescue Sarah Jane from the Qetesh. He, Rani, and K9 use Ruby’s (a Qetesh) cell phone to reprogram her computer, Mr. White, and overload the other Qetesh saving Sarah Jane.
Alternate timelines: Had Donna turned left Luke would have died of asphyxiation on the hospital when it was transported to the moon. This is due to the fact the Doctor dies before the occurrence leaving Luke and the other team members to deal with this.
Had Andrea Yates not died in Sarah Jane’s place in 1964 Luke would never have been created.
Addition Medical Information: His perfect genetic makeup allows for eidetic memory, greater intelligence, and perfect complexion. He also has a heightened immune system making it almost impossible for him to get sick. He also has been known to have precognitive dreams and has great reflexes (sans his lack of balance), though the extent of this is unknown.
RP Sample: Luke Smith sits at the back of his favorite class at school, science. He attentively watches his teacher as she writes down questions on the board. He doesn’t understand why his peers, and friends for that matter, groan at each click of the chalk. He loves science, and math, it’s a way to discover and invent things. He was born out of science, and born to use it. As he watches the teacher however he notices a mistake she makes. In a flash he raises his hand, a move Maria taught him to do saying it is polite, and waits to be called on.
“Yes Mr. Smith?” The teacher calls to him, though it make him more confused she’d call him Sarah Jane’s computer.
“You made a mistake. The problem should read the square root of pie over the omega, times ten to the fifteenth power, equals x to the ninth power, not the square root of pie over 2 times omega, times ten to the fifteenth power. Otherwise you would get a very messy explosion Miss. Kingsley.” Suddenly the room is full of chuckles he knows is directed at him and he realizes he had made another social mistake. He suddenly wishes Maria was there to help him, especially when the teacher turns and then looks at him incredulously.
“How did you know that?”
Unsure whether he should answer but knowing he had to Luke responds. “It is simple really, if you multiply the omega you will get an unstable reaction.” He looks down as the laughing grows louder and waits for the bell signaling the end of class. He cannot wait to return home and ask Maria or Sarah Jane what he did wrong.
