It was a bitterly cold day, when Romana walked out of the Capitol with nothing on her, apart from the robes on her back, and a data cube in one hand. The snow spun around her, driven by the wind that cut through the material of her robes, as though they weren't even there, and filled in her footprints behind her, hiding the path that she had taken from prying eyes.
The last thing that she could afford, was to be discovered. If any of Rassilon's troops caught her out here, with this cube on her, then she knew that she would be getting a one way ticket to one of the holding cells, cast into a web of disgrace, for her betrayal.
That was what they would call it, after all. Betrayal. Treachery.
Never mind that Romana wanted only what was good for Gallifrey and her people, if this didn't suceed, then there was no coming back from it. Of course, she'd known that since the moment that she'd stepped outside of the city limits, but the snow and wind only seemed to drive the point home.
She had to stop Rassilon, or there would be no Gallifrey left, at least not in any recognizable form.
To do that, she had to find the Master.
That was all there was to it.
Shielding her eyes from the glare of the reflected light of the twin suns, she scanned the horizon.
He was out here, somewhere, she knew that much. The only question was where, exactly.
