Pax

Brief Introduction
Pax is not a name anymore than it happens to be a unique and pronounceable identification code. Other than this, he appears to be your average run-of-the-mill dalek. A rather unlucky run-of-the-mill dalek, for he is now away from the protection of a fleet, and ultimately vulnerable.

Allies
It's not easy to become friends with a dalek, but time, isolation, and exposure takes its toll. Other daleks get a free pass within their own species, whereas humans and the like will find that it takes somewhat more effort than that. Pax might be a little bit easier to 'befriend' than a soldier or commander dalek, but it will ultimately depend on the situation and his own needs. Even a dalek gets lonely.

Enemies
Daleks have many enemies: anyone who isn't the same as them. Particularly hated enemies have included the Cybermen and Movellans, for obvious reasons. Pax is aware that the biggest enemy of all has been, and always will be, The Doctor.

Yet, even in the most comprehensive of dalek databases, the Time Lord is surrounded in fear and mystery. How does one fight an enemy they do not even know?

Finch speaking here. I'm hoping to make Pax a reasonable ally, rather than a 24/7 villain. Maybe a reluctant ally, but an ally nonetheless. I'm sure your characters will be able to put him straight! pax + susan [ app ]

Gotta admit, Susan is extremely prejudiced just like her grandfather. The Daleks were the cause of the Doctor leaving her on Earth by herself, they were responsible for the death of her son, and they tried erasing her timeline which has led to a rather flimsy grasp on reality. Because of this, situations would have to be rather extreme for her to even consider anything than attacking on sight.

pax + fitz [ app ]

Fitz has very limited exposure to the Daleks; he has memories from the TARDIS and has theoretical knowledge of them, and he did some fighting during the Time War, but probably not in the capacity that he witnessed a real Dalek. It wouldn't be as hard for Fitz to work together with Pax as it would be for Susan, but the first time that Fitz senses that the Doctor would be in danger he'd go Rabid Guarddog as... well, that's Fitz's job: the Doctor's guardian.

pax + iblis [ app ]

Iblis would be so intrigued by the Daleks, especially if it finds out about the long history between the Daleks and Time Lords - as Iblis also has a bone to pick with the Time Lords. If any of my characters would actually seek an alliance, it'd be Iblis - and as Iblis is a 24/7 antagonist (maybe not quite 'villain') it'd probably be a bad influence on Pax haha. On the bright side, Iblis takes its alliances very seriously and would keep an eye out, so if Pax is every in a jam he's just got the literal devil in his corner.

pax + seb/nina [ app ]

Sebastian is a fairly normal teenage boy, and Nina is the immature and homicidal djinn that lives inside him. They've never met a Dalek, and as is the case with every human, Sebastian conveniently doesn't recall the multiple invasion attempts. Nina has no sense of danger and Sebastian can't resist her, so they'd try to be best pals with the Scary Robot Friend. Seb and Nina were brought together by isolation so they'd empathize with a Dalek lost from his fleet... as much as they shouldn't empathize. Can't believe they're gonna adopt Pax as their new robot brother... their brobot. 🤷🏽 🤷🏽

Pax meeting Seb and Nina first sounds awesome. I can definitely see the "trying to hide your alien friend in the basement" scenario play out perfectly. Throw in a stubborn hateful dalek with nothing better to do other than hang about on Earth, and we've got a lot of potential. Inevitable chaos will ensue. A weird but solid alliance is certainly possible. Pax might be a little cautious and hostile at first, but I'm sure he'll warm up to them when he realises he's relatively safe.

Fitz seems like a cool guy, and maybe a meeting between them could start off rocky. It would honestly depend on the situation, but would definitely be interesting. It could even eventually lead to a dalek and Doctor meeting.

I feel really sorry for Susan, but I don't think Pax and her could really get along unless other characters were there to mediate between them. It could create a reasonable plot conflict and something more serious to write about, and maybe some nice character development as well.

Iblis is definitely a unique character, although I'm not really sure how they'd get along. On one hand, Pax might not feel so safe dealing with the devil - he's a bit flighty. On the other hand, any dalek would realise that an other-worldly demon is a very nice ally to have on your side when you're alone and stranded.

Pax & Ten

The sheer idea of a "good" dalek...how intriguing. Not to say 12 did try with a dalek, but this is strangely amusing. Ten is not typically fond of the Daleks, especially be a post time war vet, but hey maybe just maybe there might be a chance that he "catches" out of the corner of his eye this Dalek doing something not so ordinary to its natural function. After all again, there was the one 12 dealt with and we can't forget Oswin Oswald either. So if you think there could be some interesting encounter they could have somehow, let me know!

For an encounter with Ten, I think once Pax gains some character development, he'll begin to exhibit some divergent traits that Ten might take interest to. I'm currently still starting up my first thread, which will likely establish Pax as a 'dangerous alien hiding in some kid's basement' kind of character.

Now if Ten walked in on a situation like that, that could be enough for a plot itself. Maybe after an equal freak-out from both characters (let's be fair, daleks always freak when they find out it's the Doctor), one of them might take advantage of the situation. Ten could take advantage of a relatively placid dalek, or Pax could take advantage of the TARDIS as a potential get-away ship. One or the other could potentially happen. Or we could take a situation like this in a completely different direction, if you have any ideas?

Another idea (stemming from the previous one) would be if the Doctor lands his TARDIS on Earth, and Pax discovers it. Ten would get a pretty big shock to find an unwitting dalek stowaway. This would probably have the same formula as the other times a random companion suddenly appears on the TARDIS, but with more daleks. Maybe a problem with the TARDIS or another enemy forces them to work together just to save their own skin. Pax would also be unable to pilot the TARDIS, so unless he wants to be stuck in a blue box for eternity, he'd be forced to co-operate even without an external threat.

Interestingly, Pax's function is being a dalek saucer pilot, so a plot that utilised both character's pilot skills would complement each other really well. This could make a good thread on it's own as well (if Ten realised he needed someone with that skill for whatever reason), or be a part of another thread.

Another thing I've been thinking of doing is having a thread or scene where Pax is forced to go without his casing for a while, so that's another small idea.

These are pretty much the only significant ideas I have right now. Tell me which ones you like, or want to develop, and we can turn it into a thread whenever you'd like! I would love to hear any new ideas you might get as well.
