Mattie pouted slightly, obviously disheartened that his attempt to surprise Blue with a bit of breakfast went up in flames.. Literally. He rubbed the back of his head sheepishly as he glanced down to the angry red mark that ran across his palm from grasping the bare metal handle of the pan. He glanced up as he heard the wail of the fire alarm trail off and die and noticed Blue. Mattie chirped lightly “No, I got it! Really!!” trying to sound like the blazing pancake inferno was no big deal.
He watched, mesmerized as the flames went into Blue's mouth. He nearly cried out asking if he was alright and ran up to him looking at his mouth and clutching his face, wanting to be sure that Blue hadn't been burned. When he noticed that Blue was unmarked by the flames, Mattie was not sure whether to be relieved or envious of him. He then watched as Blue passed his hand over the charred pancake, that mysterious teal colored energy making the blackened pancake look the way it was meant to. He huffed slightly, feeling that Blue was cheating.
Mattie saw the questioning look on Blue's face and Mattie seemed to mirror it with a slight hang lip.. “Matthieu…” he said sternly, and Mattie looked at him, those deep brown eyes meeting with Blues like a child bracing for a stern scolding. Even if he barely knew someone, Mattie couldn't bare to have people upset with him. Blue's stern frown faded in an amused chuckle. “Let me fix you.”
Mattie hesitantly gave Blue the scalded hand.. “Just helping you heal,” Blue promised, and allowed that teal energy stuff that Blue seemed to fond of using slither onto Mattie's hand and seep into the skin. Mattie immediately squeaked in protest. “Bleu, wait!” He remembered what happened the last time that stuff got on him. His cheeks lit up furiously as he remembered nearly begging Blue to take him.
“No funny business.” Blue replied gently and Mattie looked down at his hand as the bright red on his hand, and the stinging pain faded away. There was a slight sigh of relief as Blue finally let go of Blue's hand. Mattie looked up at his face. “Merci, Bleu.. You really didn’t have to” but then he noticed the man's eyes trail to the lamp hanging around his throat and he saw the look on his face. Mattie immediately squirmed beneath the almost accusing gaze..
“By the way… you’re very lucky that I have self-control. You were very close to being not quite so innocent last night,” Blue said calmly. Was it possible for those cheeks to get any more pink before turning scarlet. “Ah.. eh.. about that.. I wanted... um.. Heh, I don’t know what I was thinking.. It was kinda funny at the time, oui?” Mattie watched as Blue went to smell the pancake and watched his nose twitch in obvious disgust. “I, uh… here. How about I take you out to breakfast to make up for what I did last night?” he asked kindly. “And lunch…” Mattie arched a brow at him, looking back at this failed science experiment that somehow resembled a pancake. “and dinner…”
Mattie looked down at the pancake and put it to his nose to smell it. Unfortunately, everything smelled and tasted like crème brûlée. He knew that it had to with the tumor. Not only did it effect his equilibrium, the smell and taste center of his break had been set to 'OMG everything smells fantastic!' mode. It was part of the reason he'd become so thin. When everything tasted the same, food lost it's appeal. He looked up at Blue apologetically. “I'm not really hungry.. it was supposed to be for you.” and at that, Mattie hung his head, a tad dejected. “It was going to be my apology for last night”
Blue flinched as Mattie rushed over to him. He didn’t think he had done something worthy of punishment. He bit the inside of his cheek. Mattie wasn’t going to hurt him – Mattie wasn’t like the other masters he’d had. He wasn’t like Alec who would cut him down with sharp words, and he wasn’t like the humans who would hit him. Mattie held his face, and Blue smiled at him uncertainly. He could read the concern in Mattie’s face, and he tilted his head softly. Matthieu wasn’t one to hide his emotions, was he? His fingers twitched, and he felt tempted to wrap the human into a protective hug.
Instead, he rolled his eyes and moved his face out of the human’s grasp. “The Jinn are made of fire. It’s fine,” he said bluntly, refusing to admit any sentimental thoughts he’d been entertaining just moments earlier. Because he most definitely was fine and he most certainly did not find Mattie utterly adorable with his concern. “You’re the one who burned yourself. You should spend less time worrying about other people and more time worrying about you,” he chided, avoiding looking at him. Those dark brown eyes reminded him of a puppy’s, and he couldn’t stay mad at him. “If you die, I’m out of a job.”
As soon as he said it, he cringed. Yeah, the poor guy was dying with an inoperable brain tumor. Talking about death was probably the last thing he wanted to do. Blue backpedaled furiously. “Forget I said that! Forget it!” he demanded, flustered. “I didn’t mean to say that. Just forget it.” Matthieu’s first impression was going to be awful. Not only had he nearly jumped his bones the night before, but also he was screaming at him to forget Blue’s callous remarks. Not the best first impression. Not the best at all. “Just forget it.”
Mattie hesitantly gave Blue the burned hand. This kid was going to end up killing himself long before the tumor did if he kept going at this pace. He sighed and ran his fingers gently across the palm, his fingers glowing a soft shade of teal as he set to work trying to heal his master. “Bleu, wait!” Mattie said, and Blue froze obediently, staring up at him with wide eyes. Mattie’s cheeks were a bright shade of red and he felt the pheromones. He smirked and finished healing Mattie’s hand.
No funny business. Blue gave him the ‘I-know-what-you-did-last-night-and-I-don’t-approve’ expression. He watched as Mattie squirmed under his gaze. “Ah… eh… about that… I wanted… um…” Matthieu couldn’t seem to grasp his words. Blue leaned against the counter, crossing his arms over his chest as he stared at the human silently. He could wait an eternity watching the human blush and flounder. “Heh, I don’t know what I was thinking…” Mattie continued. Blue sighed, rubbing his forehead with a smirk. Matthieu clearly still didn’t comprehend the very overwhelming effect his Lamp had on him. “It was kinda funny at the time, oui?”
Blue’s eyes narrowed and he twirled his fingers, summoning a large mass of red energy on his hands. He smirked devilishly and leaned close to Mattie. “Kinda funny,” he drawled, putting his fingers dangerously close to Mattie’s skin. He quirked an eyebrow challengingly. “We’ll see who gets the last laugh, oui?” he asked, the energy disappearing before touching the human’s flesh. He wasn’t keen on having the man begging for his body while under the influence of a powerful aphrodisiac.
Again, he felt tempted to run his fingers across Matthieu’s skin and through his hair. The thoughts of such affection were strange and frightening to him. He pulled away and sighed, sniffing the pancake distastefully. He looked over to the Frenchman and offered to take him out to eat. He’d thought that Mattie would be more excited, but instead Mattie looked at him apologetically, looking dejected. Blue felt a stirring of guilt in his stomachs, and he wished he’d pretended to like Mattie’s charcoal.
“I’m not really hungry… it was supposed to be for you. It was going to be my apology for last night.”
And at those words, impossibly sweet and genuine, Blue looked down, his cheeks flushing. “Matthieu, you have nothing to apologize for,” he said gently, pulling the human into a hug. “Every moment last night was wonderful. If anything, I should be the one apologizing to you for taking advantage of your emotions. You were only acting out because I frustrated you and couldn’t finished what I’d started.”
He felt a bit conflicted, because he certainly hadn’t been lying about enjoying the night before. Blue pulled away and looked at Mattie carefully, thinking about the passionate kiss they’d exchanged last night. His eyes traveled to Mattie’s lips, and he licked his own lips. “But maybe you shouldn’t rub my Lamp again unless you’re prepared for the consequences.”
Mattie pouted slightly when Blue casually brushed his hands away. “The Jinn are made of fire. It’s fine,” he said bluntly, and Mattie lowered his gaze. Was that common knowledge? Mattie suddenly felt quite foolish and looked down at his injured hand with a soft sigh. “You’re the one who burned yourself. You should spend less time worrying about other people and more time worrying about you,” he chided. At that, Mattie looked up at him with a soft expression. Life was too precious to be to wrapped up in one's own self importance. He was about to voice as much when Blue's words interrupted his thoughts. “If you die, I’m out of a job.”
Mattie held his gaze, but the look on Mattie's face was like as though Blue had plunged a dagger right into his frail human heart and twisted. “Forget I said that! Forget it!” Blue, demanded, flustered. “I didn’t mean to say that. Just forget it.” He bit his lower lip and rolled it gently in his teeth as he considered how to reply. Granted, he had come to terms with his demise, but Mattie didn’t like being reminded of it. He took a deep breath and once again went to make a reply only t be cut off once more as Blue insisted that he disregard what he'd said..
There was the awkward exchange of words between then as Blue informed him that his antics from last night were greatly not appreciated. Mattie fumbled with an apology, having to find his words. The memories of last night were so flustering that his English seemed to be eluding him. But somehow, the Frenchman managed. He lamely explained that he did it out of jest and that he'd meant no harm by it.
He watched those dark eyes narrow on him and Mattie felt like he was a 10 year old child being reprimanded by his mother. He was about to mumble another apology when that eerie energy from Blue's hands emerged and Mattie swallowed hard. “Kinda funny,” he drawled, putting his fingers dangerously close to Mattie’s skin. Blue's tone was challenging but with a hint of playfulness.. “We’ll see who gets the last laugh, oui?” Mattie seemed to perk the moment Blue said 'Oui'. Mattie may have felt a bit small at the moment for apparently offending the man, but Mattie couldn’t help but smirk. That was a challenge he was willing to accept. He could be quite the prankster if allowed to indulge in his whims.
And then.. The generous offer of taking Mattie to eat. “I’m not really hungry… it was supposed to be for you. It was going to be my apology for last night.” He replied somewhat embarrassed. . “Matthieu, you have nothing to apologize for,” he said gently, and Mattie stood there, somewhat in stunned silence as Blue pulled him into a warm hug. Mattie closed his eyes with a light smile and rested his forehead to Blue's chest, gently returning the hug. “Every moment last night was wonderful. If anything, I should be the one apologizing to you for taking advantage of your emotions. You were only acting out because I frustrated you and couldn’t finished what I’d started.”
Mattie's cheeks flustered considerably. He'd found the man quite beautiful long before he'd laced him with the aphrodisiac. “But maybe you shouldn’t rub my Lamp again unless you’re prepared for the consequences.” Mattie smiled and nodded in understanding. He stepped back from the hug and looked up at Blue with a soft smile. “Ouais, I'll keep that in mind. And.. Really, I wasn't angry with you.. I.. I just didn’t want to do something to you that you weren’t ready for either. I.. I really think I would have if I hadn't sent you out.. but.. If it'll help, when I sleep, I'll remove the lamp as well so I don’t accidentally... you know” he ended, with a hint of coloring across his nose.
Now.. as for the meal. Mattie went to tidying up the little bit of mess there was, the spilled batter, the jug of soured milk, putting the eggs away. It was a quick and effortless job and Mattie actually seemed to enjoy it. Anything to keep his hands and mind busy seemed to make the man quite happy. He looked up at Blue with a gentle smile. “Well, since you're part of the family now, we should probably go to the market and get so real food in the house. What sort of things to djinn like to eat?” He chirped happily.
He seemed a but excited about getting out of the house. He then glanced up at the clock that hung in the hallway and Mattie seemed to frown a little. He needed to take his morning meds. They were no where near as troublesome as his evening meds. The evening meds made him dizzy and tired. At least on his morning meds he could function like a normal human being without too much difficulty. Well, as normal as possible for someone with no sense of equilibrium thanks to a malignant tumor in his brain.
But Mattie was not about to fuss over all that. He headed into his room to take his meds and snatched up his house keys and went to the door, all but forgetting he was still in those blue and gray plaid pajama pants, no shirt, and a pair of house slippers. The man would forget his own head it it wasn't so firmly attached to he shoulders. “Come on, Bleu!” he chirped.
The look on Mattie’s face was enough to drive a knife through Blue’s own chest. He stared at the human with wide eyes, suddenly wishing he hadn’t opened his stupid mouth to begin with. What the hell had he been thinking? He backpedaled almost as quickly as he’d said it, but the damage had already been done. Mattie bit his lip, staring at him with the saddest eyes he’d ever seen. And he was over a million years old – he’d seen plenty of sad eyes. “Forget it,” Blue repeated blandly, guiltily. It wasn’t like he was a kind person.
But Mattie was. Blue had dropped into his life with some far-fetched story about being a genie, and Mattie had given him a place to go even when he didn’t believe it. Mattie had consistently been nothing but kind and gentle with him to the point of being sickeningly sweet. And what had Blue done? He’d casually mentioned the fact that Mattie was a goner. Alec’s cold temperament and treatment of others had clearly affected Blue more than he’d care to admit – there was a time he was gentle and caring, but Alec had forced that part of him down. Blue didn’t want that.
Mattie was his master, and as such he deserved Blue at his best. And… even if the fragile human hadn’t summoned him, Blue knew he’d be nice to Matthieu. There were very few humans worthy of his respect, and Matthieu was rapidly proving himself to be one of them. Still, Blue kept the layer of sarcasm and bitterness around him. Forget it, Blue insisted silently, guilt turning his stomach. I didn’t mean it. He sighed and looked away from the Frenchman – it was completely unfair to treat him how Blue was, but he was too proud to ask for forgiveness.
He took a deep breath, trying to shrug off the guilt as he teased Mattie gently, his fingers brushing the man’s skin sans aphrodisiac. Mattie smirked and Blue returned the gesture, a sharp canine showing in the quirk of his smile. This would be one game that Blue would win – he didn’t have much experience in the matter of carnal pleasures (and neither did Mattie, if he were to be believed) but he had a distinct advantage. He leaned in closer, fingers running through Mattie’s hair. “The Jinn are related to incubi,” Blue murmured in Mattie’s ear, the fingers tightening gently in the human’s hair.
He kissed Mattie’s cheek warmly. “I might be convinced to show you sometime.” Blue had a sudden, very tangible image of pinning Mattie between the cupboards and ravishing him. He kept the feeling to himself, removing his hand from Mattie’s hair slowly.
He huffed out a breath against Mattie’s skin before moving away from him and offering to take him out to eat. The response nearly broke Blue’s heart, because he’d been nothing but a bastard to the poor man and everything Mattie had gone through was because he was trying to apologize. Apologize for something that he hadn’t even done. He sighed and brought the man into a hug. His fingertips lightly trailed across Mattie’s back. ‘S’… ‘O’… ‘R’… ‘R’… ‘Y’.
Blue rested his chin on top of Mattie’s head gently, repeating the word gently into his skin. He didn’t want to let the smaller man go, but he could only hold a half-naked man he was lusting after for so long without pushing him against the refrigerator and kissing him senseless. Mattie smiled and pulled away from the hug. “Ouais, I’ll keep that in mind. And… Really, I wasn’t angry with you… I… I just didn’t want to do something to you that you weren’t ready for either.”Don’t rape him, don’t rape him, don’t rape him, you’re stronger than this,“I… I really think I would have if I hadn’t sent you out…”
Blue squirmed, a little exasperated. He’d been that close to have the beautiful man under him and writhing blissfully, and he’d walked away? What the hell had he been thinking? Something noble at the time, he could remember, but his mind was in a lust-ridden daze and dammit, he couldn’t think. His hips twitched slightly, and he was silently thankful that Mattie had let go of him, because if their hips had touched, there would have been no hope for the adorable Frenchman.
“If it’ll help, when I sleep, I’ll remove the lamp as well so I don’t accidentally… you know…”
Blue shook his head quickly and grabbed Mattie’s hand. “No, no. Keep it on. It’s a symbol of us.” He looked down at Mattie’s hand in his own, then looked up at the man’s blush on his cheeks. He moved Mattie’s hand to the Lamp, a flush coloring his own face as he made the Frenchman’s fingers stroke it. He smiled and let Mattie go, feeling a tingle in his spine. “I won’t do anything to you, but…” The red mist glowed around his hands, drifting off him. Blue took a step away from him. “Just keep it on. It makes me feel…” Wanted. Alec would never wear his Lamp.
There was something about Mattie wearing his Lamp that made him feel slightly less like a Djinn and more like a friend. It was an offering of a friendship and a promise of kindness. And even though he’d complain all day long about Mattie rubbing it, there was something more satisfying than the desire that coiled within him. He watched as Mattie began to clean the kitchen. Blue shifted, a little antsy. He wanted to do something to take his mind off the fact that he was beginning to twitch with the longing of taking Mattie.
“Well, since you’re part of the family now, we should probably go to the market and get some real food in the house,” Mattie said. Blue’s cheeks flushed happily and he squirmed. Part of the family? Alec had only referred to him as a servant at best. Mattie considered him family. Which was a little awkward given the circumstance, but a wife and a husband were part of the same family. His cheeks colored guiltily, because Mattie was most certainly not his husband… or his wife. “What sort of things do Djinn like to eat?”
Blue smiled at Mattie’s innocence. “The Jinn don’t need to eat or drink. We choose to have a physical manifestation. But…” he smiled at Mattie a bit shyly and shrugged his shoulders. “I’m quite fond of tomatoes.”
He would have expounded on his love for the majestic fruit had Mattie not flitted into his bedroom and come back all prepared to leave the apartment. In his pajamas. Blue rolled his eyes and put his hands on Mattie’s shoulders, pulling him against his chest. “Forgetting something, aren’t we?” Blue purred, running a hand over Mattie’s chest. Blue took the man’s ear gently between his teeth, tugging softly on it. “Unless you meant to go out naked?”
He stepped backward and steered Mattie back into the bedroom. “Come on, Matthieu. Let’s get you dressed.” He pushed the man gently on the bed and tugged off the plaid pajama pants. His eyes raked slowly over the man’s lithe form, a smirk curling at his lips. He thought about how easy it would be to pin Mattie down on the bed, his hands tensing slightly on the man’s shoulders. He looked up into the brown eyes quizzically. But Mattie was a virgin. And although Blue had long since outlived the foolish sentimentality of the first time being special.
But… for Mattie, he was willing to indulge in such sentimentality. He’d lose his virginity surrounded with love and not lust, whether or not Blue was the one to take it away from him. Mattie deserved that much, at least. His fingers trailed from his shoulders to wrapping themselves in the man’s hair tenderly. “Mattie…” he murmured. He wanted to wrap the man into a giant hug and plead for his life, because he could make it better. He could will it all away if the man would just make the wish. But Mattie had been firm last.
He sighed and withdrew his hands from Mattie, bending over and picking up the fedora from last night and placing it on Mattie’s head. “Now, what do humans usually wear to the market, Master Mattie?” he asked cheerfully.
The awkward exchange between them had Mattie's head swimming. And there was no aphrodisiac to muddle his thoughts. Mattie's heart pounded slightly as he realized that these feelings for Blue were all his own. It frightened him slightly because, while yes, he'd had the occasional girlfriend or boyfriend before. Obviously, nothing had ever become too serious.. They weren’t in the picture anymore, and he was still quite the virgin.
When Blue's fingers coiled into hair, Mattie let out a yelp. Not a pained one, but surprised and helpless as he rolled back against the counter of the kitchen and looked up at him, deep brown eyes a muddled mix of pleasure and confusion. “The Jinn are related to incubi,” Blue murmured in his ear, the fingers tightening into his blond hair. Mattie's hands rested against Blue's chest, fingers lightly curling inward like he didn’t want Blue to let go of him.
When Blue leaned in to dot a kiss to his cheek, Mattie, flustered slightly. “I might be convinced to show you sometime.” his Blue remarked, before leaving that soft sigh against his ear. “Oh Non.. after last night, I certainly believe you.” The offer of food and Mattie's polite decline found Blue's fingers tickling and touching his spine and Mattie let go of a softly shuddered sigh, followed by a rather undignified squeak, causing Mattie to bury his face against Blue's shoulder. Right.. Leaning something new every day. His hair and his lower spine. Two places that seemed to make Mattie want to pin this man against a wall.
He felt the taller man rest his head on the top of his head and Mattie couldn’t help but reach up and trail his fingers into Blue's hair. He was expecting it to feel thick and coarse because of the way it stood in every which direction, seemingly of it's own free will. But it was smooth and soft as silk. Mattie chuckled softly as he reached his fingers across Blue's scalp. There was the awkward exchange, warning Mattie that he should only touch his lamp in the manner he had done so the night before if he had planned to follow through on his teasings.
When Mattie offered to remove it at night, Blue's protest made him smile slightly and his hands trailed down from his hair and down the man's bare spine, gently feeling the slight ridges formed by each vertebrae before dotting a kiss to Blue's throat before lightly stepping away. He couldn't help but look up at him, as if awestruck once more. It was an odd emotion. He barely knew Blue and yet, he felt like Blue had always been part of his life. Did Mattie have a crush? His nose colored slightly as the idea of finding a stranger as attractive as he did.. But no.. Blue wasn't a stranger. The bond he felt towards Blue felt warm, almost feverish.
“Well, since you’re part of the family now, we should probably go to the market and get some real food in the house,” Mattie said, trying to take his mind off of the odd sensation coiling and swelling in his chest. He swallowed thickly but chirped lightly and smiled up at him “What sort of things do Djinn like to eat?” But Blue's smile at him made Mattie tilted his head curiously. Why was he smiling at him like that? It was a perfectly reasonable question. “The Jinn don’t need to eat or drink. We choose to have a physical manifestation. But… I’m quite fond of tomatoes.”
Mattie nodded cheerfully, taking that into consideration. He took his meds and was about to head out the door, wearing only his sleep pants when Blue nabbed his attention. “Forgetting something, aren’t we?” Blue purred, running a hand over Mattie’s chest. When Blue's teeth grazed and tugged his ear, Mattie all but went limp in the djinn's arms “Unless you meant to go out naked?”
“I.. I just... Oh, Mon Dieu.. Bleu..” he whimpered as Blue stepped out of his grasp. “Come on, Matthieu. Let’s get you dressed.” and found himself being pressed down onto the bed. Mattie stared up, bewildered for just a moment before Mattie suddenly found his hands firmly on Blue's shoulders.. He didn’t want Blue to move away from him. Was this.. moving too quickly? “Now, what do humans usually wear to the market, Master Mattie?” Blue asked cheerfully. Mattie wasn't sure if he cared. He murmured softly to himself “Live for the moment, Mattie”
Before he knew what was happening, Mattie gave a sudden upward roll of his hips and rolled forcefully with Blue until Mattie was settled above him, straddling his lap and looking down at him, finger's gently trailing down Blue's bare chest. “Bleu.. I... “ 'Live for the moment, Mattie.. Live for the moment.. What if you were to die tomorrow? Would you regret it if you didn’t it?' he puzzled to himself before gently leaning down, pressing the softest kiss he'd ever given to the gentle rise of Blue's collar bone. “Bleu... I think I love you.. Seems so stupid.. I only just met you last night.. But.. I feel like I've known you my whole life.” he gently placed his hands on either side of Blue's face and softly pulled him to his own face and lips gently, timidly pressed, caressed.
“I want you, Bleu.” he shuddered, his trembling hand lifting to reach for the lamp, deep brown eyes locking with Blue's as his fingers coiled around it.
Blue smirked and stepped away, leading the young man into the bedroom and pushed him down to the bed. As he pulled the fedora on Mattie’s head, the human gripped his shoulders. Blue felt the heat rise to his cheeks as he stared into Mattie’s eyes. They were dark and coated with want. Need? Blue was never good with identifying human emotions. He swallowed and asked what humans normally wore to the market. He had a feeling in his chest that they weren’t going to go to the market… especially not if Mattie kept giving him that look.
“Live for the moment, Mattie.”
The Djinn looked at the human, puzzled. “Matthieu, what do you me—” His question got cut off as Mattie tightened his grip on him and rolled his hips. Blue gave a sound that was a rather embarrassing mixture between a gasp and a moan with a bit of a whimper. Mattie rolled until he was on Blue, straddling him. Blue shut his eyes, trying not to think of how many ways he wanted to make Mattie beg. His hips twitched involuntarily. The human couldn’t know what he was doing to him. The pheromones were beginning to drive Blue crazy, and the hips moved again.
It wasn’t a good idea. It only served to create more friction. He finally opened his eyes, staring up dazedly at Mattie. That also wasn’t a good idea. The look on Mattie’s face combined with the fingers moving down his chest resulted in a breathy moan from the Djinn. Ninety-six. There ninety-six ways that he wanted Mattie to beg. Imagining one of them – and even being so close to accomplishing one – was enough to drive Blue crazy. But Mattie needed to be in control, so Blue placed his hands on the man’s hips.
“Blue…I… Blue… I think I love you…”
His hips twitched forward roughly and he whimpered. The chaste kiss to his collar bone was killing him. “Love me?” he asked, confused. He’d never been loved before. Some people had found his human form attractive enough to have a vested interest in him. But none of them – not one of them – had ever loved him. Had ever even thought they loved him. Blue’s fingers wandered to the man’s lower back, his fingernails lightly scraping the skin. “Love me,” he whispered again, except it sounded more like a plea. He wanted the consent, the nod of Mattie’s head or the permitting smile.
“Seems so stupid,” Mattie continued, and Blue shook his head desperately.
“Not stupid.”
“I only just met you last night… But… I feel like I’ve known you my whole life.”
Blue watched him curiously. “I trust you, Matthieu,” he said, smiling nervously. “I don’t think trust depends on the amount of time you’ve known someone, nor with love, but for the type of person they are. You can know someone for years and not love or trust him, or you could know someone for an hour and love and trust her,” he said carefully. He’d never loved before – he didn’t know anything of it. Alec had claimed to love someone once, but Blue had never witnessed the Dark Lord caring for anyone but himself.
Mattie pulled Blue up gently, and he felt sorely tempted to reverse their positions and have him there. His fingers tugged on the hem on the human’s pants. Mattie pressed his lips against his in a sweet (if frustratingly chaste) kiss. The Djinn smiled and captured Mattie’s bottom lip, sucking on it gently before letting go and flopping back on the bed. His breathing was coming erratically, and Blue stopped it altogether, rolling his hips under Mattie impatiently.
“I want you, Blue.”
“Mattie,” Blue breathed, mesmerized by the eye contact. He raised his hips again, pulling the recently put-on pants off again. “You really… I mean, I don’t think I can…” the Djinn stammered. The way Mattie was staring at him was making him feel embarrassed, and he covered his chest with his hands sheepishly. He felt self-conscious, and he wondered if he should put his pants back on and retreat quickly. He blushed and watched Mattie reach his hand up to the Lamp.
He nearly choked on the gasp that escaped his lips. “N-no,” he pleaded, squirming underneath the human. “I-if you do that… I’m not sure how… I…” he whimpered, his fingernails gently scraping Mattie’s lower back. Mattie’s fingers coiled around it and Blue let out a sharp breath. He grabbed Mattie’s shoulders and pulled him down for a rough and needy kiss. “Mattie, that’s unfair,” he murmured, rolling until he was perched over Mattie. He grinned devilishly down to the man, running his tongue over the human’s pulse. Blue pulled the pajama pants from Mattie, his teeth scraping over the pulse.
His fingers tugged in Mattie’s hair as he pulled the human up and pressed his fingers into the man’s lower spine. “So unfair,” Blue repeated again, nipping gently at the man’s collarbone. He laughed a little breathlessly against Mattie’s skin. “Come on, Mattie,” he challenged, pushing his hips against Mattie’s groin again. “You can’t let me win that easily. We have to see who gets the last laugh,” Blue purred in Mattie’s ear, tugging on the lobe with his teeth.
“Ah,” he said, his fingers moving against Mattie’s spine blithely. “Since you played so unfairly,” he murmured, “I’ll have to extract my revenge.” He smirked and his fingers grew warm, a bright red. He’d watered it down last night. His hand trailed up to Mattie’s head, and the fingers changed from red to teal, trying to make this as painless as possible for his master.
He rolled off Mattie, feeling slightly vulnerable. “I won’t do anything you don’t want me to,” he said stubbornly. “So… tell me what you want me to do, Matthieu.”
Mattie tilted his head with a slight smile as Blue seemed to stammer all over himself, not sure if he was protesting or not. It didn't sound like he was and it Made Mattie chuckle slightly. “Hey, it's alright, Bleu.” his softly whispered, his voice sounding a little hoarse as he felt Blue's hips squirm impatiently beneath him. Not realizing he was reaching for it, his fingers gently brushed the lamp.
“N-no,” Blue squirmed beneath him and Mattie let out a soft gasp, shifting his own hips in a rather awkward reply. “Bleu..” Mattie whined slightly, fingers squeezing the lamp a bit tighter, all but forgetting the effect it had on the poor djinn. “I-if you do that… I’m not sure how… I…” Mattie shuddered almost violently as Blue's nails raked his skin down his spine.
“Mattie, that’s unfair,” Blue remarked. His tone was dark and Mattie couldn't tell if he'd upset Blue or not. Before Mattie knew what was going on between them, Blue had taken Mattie by the waist and rolled until Mattie was staring rather helplessly up at Blue “So unfair,” Blue's lips and teeth went to graze his bare collarbone and Mattie shut his eyes tight and his spine arched a bit
“Bleu~” “Come on, Mattie, You can’t let me win that easily. We have to see who gets the last laugh,” he taunted devilishly as he took Mattie's ear between his teeth. “Since you played so unfairly, I’ll have to extract my revenge.” And Blue let his fingers flicker with that strange energy again. But it was a much different color. The last few times he'd seen it, the color had been teal. The red colored worried and fascinated him. “I won’t do anything you don’t want me to,” he said stubbornly. “So… tell me what you want me to do, Matthieu.”
Mattie groaned slightly, whimpering with a pleasure he was not exactly familiar with. As Blue went to roll off of him, Mattie mad the saddest grabby hands for him, clutching Blue's arm and nuzzling close to him, resting his pale nose against Blue's ear. “I.. I want.. everything to be perfect.” he replied with a rather romantic tone in his voice. Mattie couldn't help being the romantic. “You'll see.. I'm going to make everything perfect” and he shut his eyes, kissing Blue's throat before sitting up.
Oh, Mattie needed to stop tormenting to poor djinn. He ran his fingers through his spiky blond hair with a meek smile, too embarrassed to look down at him. There was still the matter of going to fetch groceries for the house and helping get Blue settled in. As much as Mattie wanted to know Blue, in every manner of the word... Mattie just wasn't ready. He was shuddering as he was fighting to force that aphrodisiac out of his system by forcing himself to take slow and deep breaths.
With a rather awkward wobble, he got to his feet and went to retrieve his pants and smiled sheepishly down at Blue who was still laying on the bed. “I'm sorry.. I must frustrate you.. I.. I'm really bad at that.. I.. I'm so indecisive and.. and.. Well it's why I live lone.” He chuckled meekly, finally meeting his gaze and offered his hand to help Blue up. “So.. Let's make an agreement, oui? I will not.. um.. touch your lamp... and you will not.. um.. o that smokey wispy thing with the fingers. Sound good?”
“I… I want… everything to be perfect,” Mattie said and Blue felt his metaphorical heart began to sink. The human’s tone was romantic enough, but there was a trace of regret and something akin to an apology. He shut his eyes, feeling Mattie’s nose against his ear. “You’ll see… I’m going to make everything perfect.”But not now, Blue added silently, opening his eyes to stare dimly at the ceiling above them. He was foolish to have believed that Mattie wanted this as much as he did. Mattie’s lips ran across Blue’s neck, and he felt a flush of confusion and shame.
If Mattie wanted everything to be perfect, then that’s what he would ensure. A master’s order was a master’s order, no matter how confused or embarrassed it made Blue. He didn’t take his eyes off the ceiling as Mattie sat up. “I’ll see,” Blue responded, not because he wanted to speak, but because he’d been conditioned to respond when his masters talked to him. He heard the human take deep breaths, slowly, and realized he was trying to get rid of the aphrodisiac. Blue kept glaring evenly at the ceiling, feeling tempted to pour all of his lust on Mattie.
“I’m sorry… I must frustrate you…” Mattie said. Blue kept his dark gaze on the ceiling, capturing his bottom lip between his teeth. Was he so unappealing to the human? He had first banished Blue from the bed, then pinned Blue to the bed only to change his mind a few moments later. “I… I’m really bad at that… I… I’m so indecisive…” Blue swallowed thickly, unable to look at Mattie. He wished the human would stop talking and making excuses. “Well it’s why I live alone,” Mattie said, chuckling. Blue didn’t find the situation quite as funny.
He moved his gaze from the ceiling to Mattie’s hand. “So… let’s make an agreement, oui?” An agreement… a contract. Was Mattie wishing for something? “I will not… um… touch your Lamp… and you will not… um… do that smokey wispy thing with the fingers. Sound good?” Mattie asked.
Blue picked himself up and pulled up his pants, buckling them silently. He smoothed the crinkles out of his shirt and kept his stare purposefully from Mattie. “Yeah,” he said blandly. His fingers twitched, and Blue’s red energy drifted from Mattie, leaving the poor man and entering Blue. “Don’t worry, I catch on fast. My mistake, Matthieu,” Blue said, his voice clipped slightly. He didn’t want his master to think he was mean, and he certainly never wanted to see the heartbroken expression like he’d seen when he’d casually mentioned death.
He bit his thumb and made his way out of Mattie’s bedroom. The pheromones were threatening to overtake his sensibilities. He took a deep breath and forced a smile to his lips. He’d become good at putting on the smiling Blue mask due to Alec. “Come on… you wanted to get to the grocery market, right?” Blue said.
“Don’t worry, I catch on fast. My mistake, Matthieu,”
Mattie bit his lower lip was Blue pulled away from him. 'Matthieu'.. He almost felt as though he was being scolded by his mother. “Désolé” came a rather meek apology. He then had to remind himself that Blue didn’t speak French. And while Mattie was not good with English, he sat and huffed, determined to speak English to him. “I'm.. eh.. Sorry.. sorry, Bleu”. Mattie clearly saw that the man was avoiding eye contact with him.
He didn't blame Blue at all. Mattie certainly had acted like a jerk, he decided. Insisting that he wanted Blue and that he felt that he loved him.. Only to turn around and tell him that it didn't feel right. He blamed his lack of English skills. Had he perhaps worded it wrong? Because he certainly wasn't rejecting Blue. He was just something of a romantic and if he was in fact to go the full mile with Blue, it was something that he wanted to be sure of. Not a hasty lust filled decision, but one carefully thought out and agreed on.
And.. That was strange for Mattie. Normally, he simply rushed into things without bothering with consequences. After all, when you were living on borrowed time, thinking too much about things wasted time and ruined opportunities that he might otherwise never get to indulge in. That and he was French. Normally he was much less reserved. So then why was he so hesitant with Blue? The answer suddenly crept up on him and it terrified him. 'Because you'll end up leaving him. If you fall in love with each other, you'll just die on him and leave him heart broken and alone.' Mattie lowered those soft brown eyes to the floor. “I dont want to hurt you, Bleu.”
“Come on… you wanted to get to the grocery market, right?”
Mattie nodded softly. Blue had ignored his remark. Great. Blue was upset with him. Mattle felt a twist of guilt in his stomach as he reached a hand towards the djinn's shoulder but he stopped himself. “O-oui.. we should get food,” He went to getting on normal clothes and not the pajama pants he'd so nearly walked out the door with a moment ago. He stared down at the fedora Blue had given him and his fingers trailed the fabric of the hat fondly before setting it on top of his head.
He offered a meek smile and walked past and headed into the kitchen, picking up a small steno notebook and a pen. He rummaged through the fridge and pantry trying to figure out what was still edible and what had spoiled. But since his sense of smell was useless, he only had the expiration dates to go by. The list he wrote down was written entirely in French. It was one thing to learn to speak English, even then he had trouble, but he'd never really learned to read or write it. It had made him very thankful the most products had instructions written in French.
Princess was affectionately rubbing up against Blue's leg before coming to a stand and delicately reaching for Blue's hand with her paw, trying to coax him into petting her behind the ear, her favorite spot. “Give the darling time. I think you confuse him. He's a simple creature, you know.” She was about to say something else to try and comfort him when Genie's voice cut through the calm of the house. “PRINCESS!!” Princess' fur bristled. Genie never wasted the energy to shout about anything. Which only meant one thing. Mattie's seizures. The normally silent cat bolted down the hallway and into the kitchen, her feet padding heavily on the floor.
Princess sat calmly beside Mattie, watching him intently before finally looking over to the other cat with a relived sigh. “It's alright, darling. This one is mild. He'll be up in a moment” while she seemed outwardly calm, the cat's voice trembled. She may have been a service animal tried to perform a job, but that didn't mead she did not love her human. She placed a paw lovingly on his shoulder as she waited for Mattie to come out of his fit.
Mattie's brown eyes groggily forced themselves open and he rolled onto his side to look at white cat who was so diligently keeping her vigil over him. “Tu es un bon chat peu, Princesse.” Princess seemed to erupt into a rumble of purrs as she softly touched her human's nose with her paw. Mattie forced himself to sit up, a little dazed and confused. He couldn't remember what he was doing before his fit. He stared at the shopping list in his hand and muttered a sheepish chuckle. “Oh.. Right.”
He didn’t need to speak French to understand the meaning of the word meekly passing the man’s lips. Blue kept his gaze trained away, and he took a small breath to insist that it was fine. He was used to a master’s indifference; Alec had certainly been back-and-forth between liking and detesting Blue. The Amir figured that if anyone had built up a tolerance to emotional tug-of-war, it was him. But the breath turned into a sigh as he turned his head away.
Mattie’s apologies were confusing him. They held little meaning; he had no idea what Mattie was apologizing for, and he didn’t want to ask. The tone in Mattie’s voice held regret and guilt, and Blue stayed quiet. There was nothing to apologize for. He didn’t want sex. It wasn’t a big deal. Sure, the human had led him on and made him feel wanted only to turn around and backpedal rather furiously, but there was nothing inherently wrong with being a tease.
Except for the fact that Blue had been hoping that... well, he wasn’t sure. His fingers traced his lips, remembering Mattie’s own in close proximity and pushing against his. His ears perked up when Mattie muttered softly to the floor about not wanting to hurt him. That made him he turn to the human and gaze at him curiously. Blue was used to being hurt. It was hard to avoid pain when you were created to serve others, after all.
He didn’t want to hurt Mattie. That was why he had put the numbing energy into his skull; to temporarily lessen the pain of the tumor. Still... Blue wasn’t the most intuitive of Jinn, but he suspected that Mattie was talking about something else. He felt irritated with himself - and, to a lesser extent, Mattie. He had done exactly the same thing to him the night previous. Had Mattie been this irritated at him?
“Come on… you wanted to get to the grocery market, right?”
He noted the expression of guilt, but Blue ignored it, staring down at his feet. He wanted to insist that there wasn’t anything to apologize for, but he never liked to talk about ‘feelings’ and ‘forgiveness’. Sure, he dwelled on them internally and frequently, but Blue didn’t like to express himself. If he ignored the trespasses, surely Mattie would take the hint. Mattie reached a hand towards Blue, and Blue shifted slightly away without looking at Mattie.
Blue turned his attention back to Mattie, a smirk dimpling his lips as he watched the human get dressed. He was sickly looking and skinnier than what Blue suspected was normal, and Blue felt a tug of determination. He’d make Mattie happy and at least as healthy as he could get whether Mattie liked it or not. He smiled as Mattie put the fedora on his head. “It looks very charming on you,” he said, echoing the words he’d spoken the night before.
Mattie walked into the kitchen, and Blue ran a hand over his face. He felt Princess brush against him and he sighed, pulling on his shirt and pants. He scratched behind Princess behind her ears, staring down at her. He confused Mattie? Pah. Mattie confused him. “A simple creature?” Blue scoffed. “He seems pretty complex to me.” He put his hands in his pockets, brushing the fur from his fingers. “I intend to give him time. He’s my master, after all.”
His eyes focused on the doorway as Genie shouted for Princess. The cat bristled and she darted out of the room and into the kitchen. Blue followed her curiously. Genie didn’t seem to be the sort of creature to pay attention or give attention to anyone but himself. So why on Earth was he so adamant to get Princess’s attention? Blue looked around the kitchen, not quite seeing Mattie. He looked down to ask Genie and Princess where he’d gone, and then he saw his master on the ground.
Blue took a step back shakily. His fingers were shaking and he was almost certain that his knees were about to turn into jelly. Princess was trying to calm Genie - but the tone in her voice was shaky and Blue just knew for certain that she was lying. Mattie was on his deathbed. There was nothing that anybody could do. He was dying. The light was leaving in his eyes and Blue flopped next to him on the ground, awaiting the flow of energy to stop.
Instead, Mattie rolled over and stared at Princess, speaking in French. He sat up, and Blue stared at him before latching onto his side. He wrapped his legs around Mattie and clung tightly, poking at the man’s cheek with wide eyes. “That was all my fault, wasn’t it? It’s because I was trying to mess with your tumor and make you feel better and I bet that my energy broke your tumor we aren’t compatible this is my fault you were almost dead I could have killed you I’ll never touch you with my energy again you were almost dead and if you had died then you would be dead and you wouldn’t be here and if you weren’t here then what would I do because masters aren’t supposed to die and I don’t want you to die and I’m not mad about earlier I promise and even if I were mad that would be dumb because I should respect your boundaries and I wasn’t and that’s not good and you were almost dead and you were on the ground and then Genie was screaming and Princess and then I and you were on the floor and you were almost dead and it was my fault,” Blue said, not pausing for breath and still clinging tightly.
Mattie was about to reach for Princess and pull her into his lap to love on her, but before his hands could get a grip on the fluffy white cat, Blue had wrapped his body around him and Mattie blinked, a bit bewildered, having Blue in his lap with his legs wrapped just as tightly as his arms. He chuckled softly, awkwardly coiling his arms around Blue's lower back. “I'm alright, Blue” he chirped softly. But his words were cut off when Blue rambled out his apology. And Blue was speaking so quickly that Mattie could not catch half the words being said. Listening to English and trying to translate to French in his head was a near impossibility after a seizure.. He just stared at Blue.
By the time Blue had finished, Mattie could feel his cheeks flush. Blue had been trying to help ease the pain. His hand softly lifted to caress Blue's cheek and he shuddered a soft breath and sealed his lips against Blue's, coiling his fingers into the soft ringlets of the jinn's hair. He paused for a moment and slowly, and reluctantly, withdrew his lips. “Vous homme drôle. Je t'aime.” and nuzzled his nose against Blue's "Ma Bleu.. You.. You have nothing to be sorry for. You were trying to help, oui? You never know if it will work unless you try, right?”
Blue finally stopped talking and stared at Mattie anxiously. Mattie’s hand raised and touched Blue’s cheek. The Djinn smiled and leaned into the hand, smiling. He felt quite a bit calmer as he realized that Mattie was not, in fact, dead. And then Mattie pressed his lips against Blue’s and the Djinn’s skin flushed. The human’s fingers curled in his hair and Blue waited, remaining still save for the slightest leaning into the kiss. Hope rose like bile in his throat. People didn’t kiss people they hated. Right? He knew that much, at least.
Mattie drew away from him and Blue had to fight back a pout. “Voo... ohm.. droh...” Blue muttered, watching his reflection in Mattie’s brown eyes. Je t’aime... he knew that one. Everyone knew it. He repeated it, the language a bit clumsy on his tongue. “I didn’t mean to hurt you,” Blue muttered, rubbing his nose against Mattie’s. “I think we can surmise that I can’t help you,” Blue said, a bit embarrassed his plans had gone wrong.
He disentangled his body from Mattie’s and helped the lanky man to his feet carefully. “Maybe you should stay and I go to the market. I can handle human markets.”
Mattie chucked softly as Blue helped him to stand.. He waved his hand dismissively and knocked playfully on his skull. “Pfft, It could be much worse. At least I'm not confined to a bed full of I.V.s or something.” He bent down to retrieve the shopping list he'd been working on before his little fit. He leaned casually against the counter as he reviewed it and placed both hands on the counter behind him to try and hop up and sit on the counter, but failed since he didn't quite have enough 'oomph' to make it to the countertop and slid right back down to the floor. He huffed and made a determined face, adamant that his short stature would not thwart his attempts to sit upon the counter.
He took a step forward and scuttled backwards, a sort of reverse running start to leap onto the counter. He sat, triumphantly and raised both hands in the air in victory, bumping the cabinet open and a small sack of flour toppled out and landed squarely on Mattie's head and scattered, leaving Mattie looking like a ghost and his kitchen counter in a powdery sheen of white. His triumphant smile didn't waver. Instead, he cheerfully plucked up the sack of flour. “Oh! That's where I put it! I suppose I'll have to add more to the list.”
He glanced down at his flour covered hands and chirped over to the cat with a giggle. “Oh, Princess.. I look like you!.. Mioau~”
“Maybe you should stay and I go to the market. I can handle human markets.”
Mattie shook his head sending a flurry of flour like a dog shaking off after having a swim. “Non! I'm alright! I can handle this!” he insisted, thumping his chest in a manly fashion only to knock the wind out of his own lungs. He squeaked and toppled off the counter and caught himself on Blue, covering him in flour. He grinned up at the jinn cheerfully. “Nothing I cant handle!” replied the cheerful walking French Disaster waiting to happen.
As Mattie lifted his hand to knock at his skull, Blue frowned and pushed his hand. “Don’t hit yourself,” he said. A bed full of ivies? Blue stared at him, making a mental note not to ever buy Mattie a house plant. “Yes, at least you aren’t that,” he said uneasily, stepping forward. Should he help Mattie get on the counter? What was proper protocol for this?
A smile twitched to his lips as Mattie fell back to the ground. “Do you need help?” he asked finally, stepping forward with a quirked eyebrow. Instead, the human pedaled backward and jumped onto the counter. Blue approached, looking thoroughly amused by his human’s shenanigans. “You could have just asked for help, Mattie,” he pointed out.
And then there was a small explosion of flour. Blue blinked as the flour billowed onto his legs and feet. “Matthieu...” he said, not sounding as put out as he did entertained. He smirked and stepped closer once more, putting his hands on either side of Mattie on the counter. “I’ll be sure to pick up more,” he said, putting a quiet but noticeable emphasis on the word ‘I’.
He shook his head as Mattie mimicked Princess. “She doesn’t actually sound like that,” Blue said thoughtfully. “Her meow is different than her voice, I think,” Blue nodded, backing away from Mattie after ascertaining there’d been no marks put on him during his fall off the counter or bruised knuckles from the cupboard.
After he stepped back, Mattie shook his head and Blue scrunched up his nose as flour flew over him. “Um, Matthieu, I think maybe you should--” He stopped his sentence with a startled squeak when Mattie came tumbling off the Great Wall of China (or just the counter) and caught him, wrapping his arms around him protectively.
“Nothing I can’t handle!”
Blue huffed and hurried after Mattie, clutching his arm tightly. “I worry about you.”
“She doesn’t actually sound like that. Her meow is different than her voice, I think,”
Mattie stared at Blue for a moment with the most doe eyed wonder struck look. “You.. You can understand her? Bleu, You.. You are.. incroyable! I have never met some one who could speak to cats. Well I know a lot of people who talk to cats, but that's really such a one sided conversation. But you.. You understand them??” he flailed his arms excitedly, which aided in his involuntary dismount from the counter.
Blue calmly and rather kindly made it quite clear that he wanted Mattie to stay at the apartment. Mattie smiled softly and nodded. “You know.. Maybe you're right.” he playfully ruffled his fingers through his own hair, shaking another flurry of flour from his hair and chuckled, smiling up at Blue before handing him the list written in very neat French. “Just a few basics really. I'm gonna have a shower..” and ne stood on his toes to dot a kiss on the tip of Blue's nose.
Without much ado, when Blue finally stepped out, Mattie went to take his shower to wash away the flour. Once he was nice and squeaky clean, Mattie wrapped a towel around his middle and stepped into the hallway. It was rather quiet again. Mattie needed to liven things up so cure his boredom. And what better than a little music? Mattle lightly pranced over to the old fashioned vinyl record player he had and went through his stack of records. “Ah.. Princess! Our favorite!!! Carmen!” and he removed the protective paper sleeve and set the record on the spindle and cracked up the volume. Fortunately the apartments on either side of him were completely vacant, so there was never any complaint about the noise from his apartment. And trust me, there was usually a lot. From blaring smoke alarms to Mattie happily shrieking to his favorite operas.
By the time Blue came home, Mattie was standing on his sofa, with Princess patiently dangling in one arm, while his other arm was cheerfully flourished in the air. His towel, long since missing and forgotten.
“Si tou ne m’aimes pas, si tou ne m’aimes pas, je t’aime, Mais si je t’aime, si je t’aime, prends garde à toi!“
He sang out, loud, bright, and shrill.. The was.. Until he heard the door open. Mattie shriked and dropped princess and fell backwards over the back of the couch with a dull thud. “I'm okay!!”
