Kitty wandered around the forest, looking thoughtful and yet quite happy; which seemed to be rare, if you knew her that is. Kitty's hair had been tied into a messy ponytail and the blonde couldn't really be bothered to fix it. Her boots crunched quietly against the dead leaves, and a cold chill whipped through the air, unsettling some nearby leaves. The 12 year old breathed in and out slowly, and then she stopped completely, staring ahead. She could see a wounded...horse, it looked like. Instantly, Kitty ran ahead, running over to the crippled creature, and Kitty felt a pang of guilt as she knelt beside it.
"Oh, you poor thing. There, now, it will all be okay, I promise." Kitty soothed, petting the horse's mane and stroking it. It seemed to make a noise of pain, and Kitty's eyes burned because there really was nothing she could do for it. She simply sat beside the horse, stroking it. "My name is Kitty. I wish I could help you...I'm so sorry." the blonde said softly, and tears welled in her eyes as the horse gave a final sound, and closed it's eyes. Kitty could feel tears coming out of her eyes even if it hadn't been her horse.
Standing up, Kitty brushed herself off and backed away from it, slowly, whispering a prayer under her breath, before she proceeded, trying not to look back as she went. She let the tears overflow as she walked along, and a sigh escaped her lips. She dabbed at her eyes softly, and proceeded forwards, this time making sure that her footsteps were quieter.
The sounds of nature around her calmed Kitty, and soon she was over the loss she had just witnessed; the sounds of birds signing to each other was usually calming for most people; but it made Kitty feel like she was in paradise. She stopped at a huge tree; with twisting branches and beautiful flowers.
Smiling, Kitty climbed up her favorite tree and sat on a particular branch, hooking her bag on another branch nearby, higher up than the blonde herself, because you never know what can happen. Kitty leaned against the bark and closed her eyes to the nature noises, allowing them to lull her to a sleep.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Kitty awoke with a start, and found herself curled up on that particular branch, but the scary thing was that it was pitch black and Kitty remembered that she had left her torch at home. Groaning, Kitty curled up again, pulling her knees to her chest. It wasn't that she was scared, well, she was, but...
How could she find her way back alone, in the darkness, with only the sounds of her nature friends to guide her?

*scritch scritch scritch* Shiva was scratching at Maggie's door. She groaned rolling over and putting the pillow over her head, trying to ignore the dog. But the dog was having none of that. Shiva came up and put her clod nose to Maggie's shoulder and and whined persistently.
"uuuuuungh, what is it girl? It's four in the morning. What could possibly be so important that it couldn't wait??" The dog rested her head on the bed and gazed imploringly at her. Maggie rolled onto her side, putting her back to the dog. Shiva huffed and suddenly took the covers into her mouth and pulled them off of Maggie and barked one loud booming bark as if to say 'get up or you'll regret it' putting her massive paws on the bed right behind Maggie's back.
"This had better be important" she groaned as she sat up and climbed out of bed and fixed the covers. She slipped on a pair of house slippers and a robe ad motioned her arm for Shiva to show her what was so important.
The dob trotted purposefully out of the bedroom and to the door of the TARDIS and pawed at it, looking back at her. "Are you serious? At four on the morning??" She groaned, putting her palm to her face. Leon wasn't here to take his dog out, he was off galavanting in Italy. And Gavri was too young to be running around outside so late at night. And Rio certainly wasn't going to. Rio couldnt stand dogs. She was still quite miffed at her grandfather for giving her son the dog as a birthday present without asking her or Rio first.
Normally Shiva waited patiently to be leashed to she could be walked but instead, when Maggie opened the door of the TARDIS, Shiva bolted out and full speed. "Shiva!! No!! Ugh! You crazy dog!!!"
She Maggie finally caught up with Shiva, the dog was barking like a maniac up a tree. She rolled her eyes and went to grab Shiva by the collar the gently pull her off. That was when she noticed something up in the tree.. a little girl.
"Hey! Are you alright? It's really late out. Shouldn't you be at home in a nice warm bed?"

Kitty trembled slightly, but something in the woman's voice...was very kind, and Kitty suddenly opened her mouth and spoke. "I...I suppose I should be...I fell asleep, but I don't suppose my mother will have left anything unlocked for me to be able to get back in the house anyway.." Kitty said.
She suddenly realized there was a dog there and she got down from the tree, before getting on her knees and petting the dog. Something gave Kitty the feeling the dog was a girl, but if she was wrong, the woman could always correct her. "She's so cute! What's her name?" Kitty asked. Then she paused.
"What's your name? I'm Kitty." she introduced, so as not to be rude.
She looked up at the girl with a soft expression, asking why she wasn't at home at 4 in the morning. "I...I suppose I should be...I fell asleep, but I don't suppose my mother will have left anything unlocked for me to be able to get back in the house anyway.."the child said meekly. Maggie frowned at this. if it had been her child, she would have been out all night searching. Not asleep in bed while her child was missing, and she certainly would not have locked her out. It almost sounded like down right neglect. Clementine, her oldest, was also adopted and this situation was unsettlingly similar. She was about to speak, offering to walk the child home or to a police station to call her mother but she stopped when the child jumped down from the tree branch.
Maggie smiled as the girl began to affectionately pet Shiva "She's so cute! What's her name?" Kitty asked, and then paused before interjecting with her own introduction. "What's your name? I'm Kitty." she introduced, so as not to be rude. Maggie chuckled softly and tilted her head to the side. "Her name is Shiva. She's my son's dog. As for myself? Everyone calls me Maggie. And it's very nice to meet you, Kitty"
She observed the girl for a moment before looking over her shoulder. They were rather deep into a heavily wooded area and it really wasn't a place for either of them to be so late at night. "Come on, We'll walk you home. Oh wait... You said the doors were locked... Um.. Is there a friends house you could go to until morning?"

Kitty smiled."Shiva and Maggie...I'll be sure to remember those two names. They're both very nice." she said, getting to her feet and smiling brightly, still petting Shiva a little and scratching her behind her ears.
"Come on, We'll walk you home. Oh wait... You said the doors were locked... Um.. Is there a friends house you could go to until morning?"
Kitty shook her head sadly. "No...to be honest...i don't really usually open up to people and talk to them, so I don't really have any friends..." she said, smiling a little, but still sadly.
After a few seconds, Kitty took a deep breath and then spoke again. "I...could always sleep out here, in the forest. It...wouldn't be the first time...I should be fine." she said, looking at Maggie. And that was true; Kitty had slept out in the forest before.
Maggie's eyes narrowed slightly when Kitty made mention of staying out in the woods. And it haven't been the first time. Maggie had half a mind to March Kitty home, break down the door and give the girl's mother a proper thrashing. Fortunately for Kitty's mother, there wasn't a violent bone in Maggie's body.
"Nonsense! Sleep out here? What are you thinking??" Maggie didnt mean to sound like she was scolding her, but that was just her motherly side kicking in. She rested her hand gently on Kitty's shoulder and offered a soft mile.
"I'll tell you want.. I have a spare bedroom you can stay the night in. And in the morning, I'll take you home" 'And give your mother a piece of my mind' she thought bitterly to herself. She could not wrap her mind around someone treating their child this way.
"Nonsense! Sleep out here? What are you thinking??"
Kitty shrugged her shoulders lightly, offering a slight smile. "Well...like I said, it wouldn't be the first time." she said, smiling slightly sadly at Maggie.
"I'll tell you what..I have a spare bedroom you can stay the night in. And in the morning, I'll take you home."
Kitty smiled, then paused slightly, thinking it over. "Well...that would be lovely, but...I don't want to be any trouble to you, Maggie." she said softly.
The Mentor stopped his TARDIS and turned the breaks on, "Now.. oh? Looks like it will be Earth to be explored today? How exciting." The Time Lord said as he put his scarf around his neck, followed by putting his frock coat on. Checking his pockets he nodded swiftly and walked over to the door, "I will be back soon.." He stepped out and shut the door. Not bothering to lock it, he never found the need since humans are.. well they do not notice his TARDIS sitting there, there are no other Time Lord's to Mentor's knowledge, and his TARDIS is really good at hiding herself.
As he stepped out he noticed that he was in some sort of forested area as Mentor looked around. Smiling he put his hands into his pocket as he started walking along the trail, looking back he saw that his TARDIS took the form of a rather good size boulder. Shrugging he looked back ahead, it appeared to be late at night, maybe no more than either three or four in the morning. What ever the reason was he was brought here, it was important.
He came to a stop when he saw a girl in a tree, and a woman and her dog at the bottom. Thinking of what the possibility of reasons were, he walked up to the woman and the dog from the side, "Ain't it a bit too early to be giving your daughter tree climbing lessons?" Mentor asked the woman, blinking his eyes some as he realized that the woman was a Time Lady.
She was about to kindly assure Kitty that it would be no trouble at all to take the child to her home for the night until she could bring her home. Although she was sorely tempted, now more than ever, to barge into the house, throw her mother out and lock her out for the evening to see how well she took to sleeping in the cold night air.
"It's alright, Kitty." But she was cut off when she heard someone come up behind them and Maggie visibly flinched when she spun around, standing a little protectively in front of the child.
"Ain't it a bit too early to be giving your daughter tree climbing lessons?" the stranger inquired and Maggie arched a brow at him slightly.
"She isn't my daughter.. As it happens, She's been locked out of her house. I'm offering her a place to stay until morning"
As soon as Kitty heard somebody approaching, she flinched, too, and hid mostly behind Maggie, peering out from behind her arm at the strange man. It wasn't helping that he was kind of tall compared to her. Tall people were scariest.
"Ain't it a bit too early to be giving your daughter tree climbing lessons?" "She isn't my daughter..As it happens, she's been locked out of her house. I'm offering her a place to stay until morning"
Kitty nodded to agree with this. "Yes, that's it. She's not my mother, or anything." after all, Kitty didn't like to tell lies. Besides, she didn't think this guy would really want to meet her real mother.
Because her real mother was probably one of the most cruel women there is. At least, in Kitty's eyes she was. She hadn't heard, of course, about murderers and stuff like that yet.
"She isn't my daughter..As it happens, she's been locked out of her house. I'm offering her a place to stay until morning"
Mentor could see that the woman was annoyed by what he said and at his sudden appearance. Before he could say anything the little girl spoke up, hiding behind the woman.
Kitty nodded to agree with this. "Yes, that's it. She's not my mother, or anything."
He nodded, "Right I'm sorry. I will be on my way." The Mentor smiled at the child and looked to the woman, "I'm sorry for disturbing you." The man turned around and was about to make his way back to the trail and looked back to Maggie, "You.. your a Time Lady aren't you?" He asked curiously.
Maggie arched a brow at the man when he inquired if she was a Time Lady. Maggie could never tell with people. Everyone else she knew could tell by the smell or the look or what ever. Unless it was outright obvious, everyone looked perfectly human to Maggie. She took a hesitant step back, standing infront of Kitty, not quite sure what to make of the man standing in front of her.
"Half" was her only reply. After all, she had no reason to trust him.
Kitty's eyebrows shot up. Time Lady? What in the world was that? Before she could say anything, though, Maggie took a step back and was suddenly standing in front of Kitty. It was in a somewhat protective way, and Kitty felt rather safe. She looked between the man and Maggie, before whispering to the latter.
He continued to study the Time Lady, he squinted some as he saw that she was not going to be trusting him anytime soon. But something told the man that Magpie was not going to be trusting him anytime soon, "Perhaps I should introduce myself." He gave the child and the Time Lady a warm smile, "I'm The Mentor." He said smiling at Kitty, but Magpie still did not appear to be trusting him even though he introduced himself.
It has been a long while since he has seen another of his species, even one that is just half, that still counts though. As The Magpie is technically a Time Lady since she is traveling around in a TARDIS.
"Perhaps I should introduce myself.. I'm The Mentor."
Maggie hesitated for a moment. She'd never met another time lord before, aside from her parents. And it wasn't that she didn't believe him, but now she was a little more than curious. After all, her Leo and Maria were good people. Ergo, she'd never met a disagreeable Time Lord. (And that was only because the woman didn't remember her encounter with Reaper)
"The Magpie", she softly replied, giving Kitty's shoulder a gentle squeeze before smiling down at her, trying to assure her that she'd be more than happy to answer her questions in a moment.
"You'll have to forgive me, Mentor. I've never met another time lord before, aside from my parents" she offered an apologetic smile.
