Murdoch often looks as though he's nervous or surprised, which is probably because that's his default setting. When he is alone or not talking to anyone, he has wide, blue eyes that are usually flickering everywhere, trying to pick up the tiniest details. When he's involved in a conversation, he can usually hold eye contact so steadily that people can become unnerved. His nose is slightly hooked and his top lip is slightly longer than his bottom lip, oftentimes leading to him sucking noisily to stop himself from drooling.
He stands at about 5'8", which is shorter than he'd like to be, and has a bit of pudge on him. He doesn't weight himself. His skin is typically a freckled beige, though occasionally he turns a blotchy pink when any of his allergies are triggered (which is often).
His dress style is simple, comfortable. Around the hospital he wears his uniform or smarter, sharper clothes to appear professional. Outside of the hospital he's usually in a hoodie and jeans.
Personality:The first word that most people use to describe Murdoch is “twitchy”, which isn’t something you necessarily want a nurse to be. He’s the awkward sort, fumbling over his words and his own feet, but he means well. He’s the mouse of Leadworth Hospital. Where most nurses are decisive and eager to help, he’s usually in the background measuring medication or chatting to the elderly. Older generations prefer him because of his uncanny ability to be polite in every situation and the fact that he can stop his eyes from glazing over (even after hearing the same mundane tale the fifth time over).
Outside of work, Murdoch’s paranoia becomes more apparent. He’s the type who looks over his shoulder whenever he’s walking down the street, or fiddles with his shirt nervously. He doesn't like to talk to new people when he's alone and there's absolutely no one else present. He’s constantly afraid of people stealing him away, despite living in one of the quietest towns ever.
At home, he’s still rather fidgety, but with an intense love for his cats – Mittens and Bell. He’s softer here. Oftentimes he wishes he could actually get a girlfriend, but then that’s only ever happened twice in the past and he was seven and nine at the time. He’s decided he’s going to be the sole male demographic for “crazy cat people”.
History:[/font][/blockquote][/blockquote]Murdoch was raised by his grandmother, who had always been a very paranoid person. She believed that modern technology was designed to store and catalog everything she ever said. She was also convinced that the government knew she was on to them and would turn up any day to steal her. That same fear has been instilled in Murdoch, though he's much more careless with technology. He brought his first mobile phone the day his grandmother died. He was nineteen.
No one's ever mentioned what happened to his parents. Murdoch always assumed that they died in a car accident, but he's really not too sure. His earliest memories take in Leadworth with his grandmother. He's never known anything else.
With the exception of his family and his illogical fears, Murdoch's life has been fairly uneventful. He went to school, went to university, then became a nurse. He owns two cats. He's never had a proper girlfriend. Things are pretty quiet for him, really.
