To say it had been easy would be the lie of the century. This was far from easy, in fact it had been easier when she was in the dark and thought she was insane. Now, she had to deal with all the visions as truths and memories, they hurt. Memories of her parents shoving her into a structure to shuttle her away only a little amount of time before the planet was destroyed. She was saved by her parents. The guilt, the mourning, all the memories of past lives and visions that were hers, yet not hers at the same time. She let out a sigh and simply wanted to be alone. Just her and her music and solitude. Something told her that wouldn't be her luck though. The Muse had been in the park for nearly an hour and found a place that seemed quiet and out of the way.
She set her bag down and removed the violin from it's case and began to play. She still heard the songs, even more now than before it seemed, but now they had meaning. The words were understood and the legends weren't lost on her. The song now played through her hands instead of her voice. A song that thrummed in the hearts of every Time Lord. The song that was heard beating from the depths of Gallifrey to the highest peaks of the mountains. It was one commonality that that whole world seemed to share. Her violin cut through the air with the voluminous, other worldly tones. A pair of jeans cinched high on her waist, they flared into a wide leg at the foot. A pair of simple black pumps on her feet and a royal blue sweater fitting her upper body like a second skin. Her coat laid in a pile next to her.
She kept playing, not listening to anything around her or anyone that might approach. About three quarters through the song she stopped abruptly and she sat back on a park bench, tears flowing down her cheeks. They seemed to spring from nowhere and coat her cheeks. Her shoulders trembled a bit, why did she have to be made to remember? These feelings and memories were too much for her to bear. They were elevating her then bringing her crashing down again. She had this history, these regenerative powers... this need to help and to have no means of doing it. "Things were so much simpler when I didn't know what planet the aliens chasing me were from." She murmured to herself, a bit bitter about it.
Setting her violin aside, she rested her head on her hands, trying to calm down. She needed to find others, people who maybe had the time to tend to her sad little self. Someone to teach her what she was missing, to inform her of the time she had spent in the fog of being a normal human.
Mentor turned the breaks of his TARDIS to on, to prevent his ship from randomly leaving the area or the planet. Which he found was to be Earth, that he was taken to. This was probably the third time this week that he was been brought to Earth and wondered why, yet again, he was on this planet. Picking up his scarf, the Time Lord put it on followed by his coat. The entire time he was putting on his weather gear, the man's stunning blue eyes stared at the computer monitor as he thought about all the reasons he could possibly be brought back to such a boring planet.
Turning the computer monitor off, the Time Lord quietly made his way to the door, closing it behind him and started walking down the street. The man stuffed his hands into his pocket and avoided meeting eye contact with the people that he walked passed, even avoiding girls that stood there and stared at him. Even ignoring them as they walked up to him as they asked if he was dating anyone. But one girl was particularly persistent, The Mentor finally turned to her, "If you do not mind, I am a very busy man that has no time for a woman who has been with five other perfectly fine men.. now if you excuse me, I have get to some place.." With that he turned back around and walked to the corner of the street. Pressing the button he adjusted the collar of his coat as he waited, his blue eyes were squinted as he observed his surroundings, taking in the sounds and the smells.
From what he observed there was someone here that is not meant to be here.. she should have been on Galifrey.. not on Earth, unless something had happened and she somehow winded up on this boring planet... the music.. the music was very familiar to that of Galifrey as well. This really intrigued the Time Lord as he walked across the street and headed right to the park.
As he strolled across the grass he noticed a woman sitting on a park bench playing her violin, he watched her closely as Mentor made his way over to her, watching as she set the violin down and seemed to rest her hands in her hands.
The Time Lord walked around the bench and came to a stop, "Why are you crying? Is it because you miss something? Someone.. or are you struggling to understand something?" Mentor looked around then back to the young lady, sighing he brought out a handkerchief and handed it to her, "Here.. dry your eyes." He said as sweetly as he could. He was not used to trying to comfort others, he has always been alone since he left Galifrey to fight in the Time War and often found that he deprived himself of emotions, finding them to be a bad weakness.
Nana sat quietly in her desperate attempt to calm herself, then she heard a new song. She heard the song before he got to her, before she even heard his voice. Her head turned to observe him as he handed her a handkerchief. "Thank you." She said softly, taking it and touching her eyes with it delicately. Her eyes shut and head tilted, hearing his song play in her ears. It was familiar, had she known him? Was he a Time Lord? She focused more, her brows knitting as she listened, trying to hear the two beats to the music. Finally, there it was.
"I've... just recently been made aware of a great secret and I'm having a bit of trouble handling it." She admitted, looking up at him with her own sharp blue eyes. Her eyes searched his face desperately for some familiarity, but found none. It was the song though, the song that brought the realization that she knew him back to her. He was a rather strapping fellow, oh my those cheek bones... "I'm sorry, I certainly don't mean to bother you." She offered, standing to her petite height, moving to pack her violin back in its case and turn her eyes back to the tall man in the big coat. The Muse wasn't able to help it, the song was so loud around her that she began to hum it, tilting her head a bit, her eyes closed. "I used to only hear songs when I slept, then I met The Doctor andI heard other songs." A quiet sigh came from her as she snapped the locks shut on the violin and turned to look at the tall man again, offering him a gentle smile.
She slipped her coat on and continued to gaze at him, trying to put his face somewhere familiar. His song was dear to her and she knew it instantly while others seemed to need to build up. "I don't remember anything and I'm stuck here. I've no way to leave." The color of her eyes had been passed down in her family from her mothers side. It was one thing that had remained through her regenerations and would until her last one it seemed. "I'm so lost. Like I'm just wandering for eternity, only now I'm not in a fog." She shook her head a little in an apology. Her pale hand offered the handkerchief back to the tall Time Lord and she lifted her violin back up, suddenly so overwhelmed by song that she didn't feel like playing it anymore.
The worst moment was when she saw all her might be's taken away from her. All her potential futures as a stupid, mortal, human. She wasn't so sure that her new future would be anything better than her old one. "I know, I know you. I don't remember you." She said quietly. She wasn't completely aware which Time Lord of the past he might be, it hadn't even fully donned on her that he wasn't going to look the same now as he did when she had met him so many years and faces ago. "I'm The Muse." She finally offered, looking up at him still.
"I've... just recently been made aware of a great secret and I'm having a bit of trouble handling it." She admitted, looking up at him with her own sharp blue eyes.
The Mentor looked down at The Muse, "Made aware of the secret that you are of an alien race called Time Lords?" Bertie asked offering her a gentle smile, "I am certain that there are others that are in your situation as well.. although not exactly like yours." The Time Lord told The Muse.
"I'm sorry, I certainly don't mean to bother you." She offered, standing to her petite height, moving to pack her violin back in its case and turn her eyes back to the tall man in the big coat.
He watched her come to a full stand, she was small, "You were not bothering me at all.. I thought that I was the one that was doing the bothering." Mentor said as he watched her move the violin into its case, he could tell by the look of the delicate instrument that it was precious to her.
"I used to only hear songs when I slept, then I met The Doctor and I heard other songs." A quiet sigh came from her as she snapped the locks shut on the violin and turned to look at the tall man again, offering him a gentle smile.
The Doctor? Who was The Doctor? Mentor wondered as he listened to the woman as she spoke again, "I remember a Time Lady that I met on Galifrey that would mention something like that.. but that was years.. regenerations ago." Mentor said quietly before returning her smile with one of his own.
His song was dear to her and she knew it instantly while others seemed to need to build up. "I don't remember anything and I'm stuck here. I've no way to leave."
Mentor spread his arms from his body for a moment, "Well I you certainly look familiar to me.. certainly your eyes look exactly the same.." He recognized her eyes, that was for certain, but the face has changed so much, "I can offer you a way off this planet.. in my TARDIS if you like.. or you can stay here on this planet if you wish to." He said with a warm smile.
Mentor took the handkerchief back and put it into his pocket, "Well you are not lost any more.. that is for certain.. I know who you are now.." He opened his mouth and was about to say who she was.
"I know, I know you. I don't remember you." She said quietly. She wasn't completely aware which Time Lord of the past he might be, it hadn't even fully donned on her that he wasn't going to look the same now as he did when she had met him so many years and faces ago. "I'm The Muse."
The Mentor smiled, "I'm The Mentor. Although my father and my brother called me by Bertie." He said, keeping the smile, "It is fantastic to see you again Muse.. You still like to be called Nana right?" He asked her. After all these years of traveling alone he has finally come across not just from Galifrey but someone who is familiar.
