Name: Baylie Pettywood
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Species: Human
Planet of Origin: Earth
Occupation: Student
Physical Description:
Baylie looks remarkably like her sister, Pippa. Her hair is darker and her
skin is fairer, but the family resemblance is strong. Standing at
5'1”, Baylie is tiny. Often, she is mistaken for a child, which is
aided by her loud personality and love for pigtails.
Unlike her sister, who often has a stiff posture from a constant state of
paranoia, she has a very laid back and free look about her. A smile
belongs on her face and she doesn't look quite right without one.
Her dress is very appropriate for a teenager. Lots of hair ties on her
wrists, T-shirts starring her favorite bands, shorts, and tennis
shoes.
Personality:
Perhaps it is because she is the youngest, or maybe she would have always
been this way. Baylie is unafraid of being heard and wants to be
apart of everything. During family events she may possibly be the one
telling the most jokes and laughing the hardest. She is very honest
but not to the point of being obnoxiously rude. She has low tolerance
of bullies and a strong sense of justice.
This being said, Baylie is also naive. In her innocence she tends to be
very gullible. She never seems to learn and always assumes the best
in others first, unless someone informs her otherwise. She trusts her
family most of all, and only finds herself truly terrified when she
has been left alone with her older sister, Pippa.
In contrast to her older sister, Baylie's imagination is basically
inactive unless fueled by someone else's. Alone, she doesn't often
day dream about things that do not exist and she doesn't fret about
the unknown. She's very aware of the world around her and thinks more
frequently of things that are going on in her life.
Romantically, Baylie is oblivious. It may be due to her grounded imagination, but
she only really thinks about boys if there is some special “romantic”
event coming up. Like a school dance or Valentine's Day.
History:
Baylie's childhood was spent in Wexford, Ireland. During those days, her
family was a close knit though she found it difficult to keep up with
the witty banter and wild pranks pulled on her sister. She found
herself hardly getting a word in and basically had to yell each one
she got. Few people listened to her and she didn't make very many
friends, but it wasn't a problem for her. The challenge of getting
heard made her little moments in the spot light worth it.
When her father got the job at the BBC in London England, she had no idea
how much things would change. Her oldest sister stayed behind and her
other two siblings seemed lost. She tried her best to keep things the
way they always used to be but her siblings were growing up. Only
seven, Baylie couldn't do all the things they were doing and found
herself in a place where she needed to start finding her own friends.
Her first day in her new school, her Irish accent got her into
trouble with some of the bullies and she soon found herself low on
the social totem pole. They were relentless. Perhaps it was because
she was so puny, or because she was so gullible and always followed
them wherever they lead her. Whatever the reason was, she was a
target.
One day, Baylie and her brother got together and used all their years of
pranking Pippa to put a show on to fool her bullies. Inspired by her
brother's favorite comic book, “V for Vendetta,” they dressed her
up as the hero and she threw a bunch of V's lines at them, got into a
fight, and to her own surprise, kicked each of their rear ends.
Everything they planned worked better than they had pictured but, unfortunately,
there are a lot of security cameras in London and a police officer
showed up before they could leave. Rumors broke through the school
faster than any had before. No one knew that it had been Baylie who
had done all this and the mystery was driving the school mad. Baylie
was eventually found out. It didn't matter though, she had become
unafraid of standing up for herself and others. The whole incident
with the police had gotten to her head, and she felt like a real
vigilante.
As time past and she grew into a teenager, she eventually got into less and less
fights but always found herself standing up for other people. Baylie
just couldn't keep her nose out of other people's business. She had
to be included and she had to have her own say. Now, she's the only
bird who hasn't left the nest. She tries to fit in with her siblings
in the adult world from time to time, but for the most part, is
having fun just being a teenager.

Baylie was excited. It being the busy part of the year, she didn't have a lot of time to
see her sister and her sister was technically the only sibling who
was really close enough to see. With her brother in Bath Uni and her
other sister still in Ireland, Pippa was kind of all she had. The sun
was shining for once and she was more than pleased.
With a rap rap rapon her sister's door, she waited as patiently as she could for it to
open. She glanced absently away, thinking of all the cool things one
could do with their adult sister. Baylie turned back to the door when
she heard it open, and it opened slowly.
Pippa's face peaked through the cracked door. Her eyes were wide with fear,
but Baylie didn't notice. Her face was usually like that.
“Hello!” Baylie said cheerfully.
“Baylie?!” Pippa squeaked, her reaction gave Baylie a brief moment of confusion.
That moment ended when Pippa swung the door open and wrapped her arms
around her. Baylie grinned, hugging her sister back. They went into
the flat, both excited to see each other again, or so Baylie thought.
She plopped onto the couch and watched her sister as she locked the
door very carefully. This was still normal though, so Baylie didn't
think twice. She didn't wonder until Pippa let out a sigh and said, “All clear... for now.”
“What do you mean?” Baylie didn't bother pretending she didn't hear her sister.
“I-I-nothing!” Pippa gasped, “Just checking for-”
“For?” Baylie knew she had caught her sister. Something was up.
“Nothing!” Pippa insisted.
Baylie frowned. Normally, her sister wouldn't bother trying to hide anything
from her. This only peaked her curiosity.
“What is it?” Baylie asked again, staring directly at her sister. Pippa
couldn't hold her gaze. Biting her lip gently, Pippa walked into the
kitchen, obviously trying to change the subject. Baylie followed her,
knowing she couldn't not know what was on her sister's mind. Pippa
was making some tea and was pointedly ignoring Baylie's persistent
stare. It wasn't long until she caved.
“A lot of... weird things have been going on lately.” Pippa said.
Baylie leaned closer, there was a story here that she had to hear.
Her silence told Pippa she wanted to hear more, “Well... it's
just... you know the dark? Lots of people, not just me, are scared of
it.”
“Is that all?” Baylie pouted, resting her chin on the cool counter, “You've been scared of the dark for forever.”
“No. This is new.” Pippa replied, forgetting the tea. “It's just
that... what if there was a reason to be afraid of the dark?”
“Like if there was something in the dark?” Baylie looked at her sister.
“Exactly.” Pippa said, trembling. “And what if... it was something small.
Something that we wouldn't really notice. Something that could sometimes eat people?”
“That's silly.“ Baylie said, not sounding sure of herself.
“I wish...” Pippa's eyes drew to the hallway, Baylie's soon followed.
The lights were off and it was eerily dark. It could have been a
trick of the eye but it seemed to grow darker. The longer they both
stared at it in silence, the more menacing it appeared.
Something crashed onto the floor, startling Baylie so that she screamed,
Pippa's scream joined in and together the girls bolted out of the
flat. Neither of them caught onto the fact that Pippa had simply
knocked the teapot onto the ground.
