Physical Description: When you look at N.J., the first thing most people notice is the bright vivid streak of color running through her blonde hair. This vivid streak of hair seems to change with her mood. Literally. These colors can change from it's default bright neon pink, to pale blue, vivid green, deep purples, and even black. She has no control over the color change, so N.J. struggles with keeping her emotions in check to hide this fact. Like both her parents, her eyes are a soft mossy green color and she has a pale skin complexion. Her genetics simply scream 'Irish'.
She's thin, almost verging on 'scrawny', standing at 5'1”, but her posture is proud and confident with a hint of arrogance. Her attire is definitely 'punk', with the leather chokers and army style dog tags with her name engraved on them, a seemingly random collection if wristbands and bracelets in a plethora of neon colors, denim jeans with rips in the knees, tank tops or camo t-shirts, calf high biker boots or a pair of trainers that she has personalized with her own artwork, via magic marker.
Personality:
- Playful: For the most part, N.J. Has a wicked sense of humor. Somewhat like her mother, she likes setting up traps for harmless pranks, but with less harmless ammunition. Like Cherry Bombs in the girl's bathroom at school. Just to hear all the prissy primadonna's shriek as they ran out of the bathroom sopping wet in toilet water.
- Intelligent: N.J. has often been told that's she's simply too smart for her own good. She has a good combination of street smarts and book smarts. N.J. Doesn’t need to study for tests because she remembers everything she's taught in school, she can recite sonnets off the top of her head and can belt out quadratic equations in her sleep.
- Confident: N.J. Has a healthy dose of 'I'm awesome and I know it” rippling off of her in waves. This partially stems from having a cop for a father that will bend the rules to keep her out of too much trouble.
- Impulsive: When N.J. Catches a wild idea, she runs with it, having little regard for the consequences of the possible outcome.
- Rebellious: N.J. Hates being told what to do, even if it's for her own good. And while she may not be outright defiant, she will find her own sneaky ways in getting around the rules. 'Keep off the Grass' sign? “Let's play soccer!”
- Moody: N.J. Can switch emotions like the on/off switch on a blender. One moment, she can be bright and cheerful and cracking jokes but then the next, she's annoyed and ready to scream in frustration.
History: When Raya and Nate got the news that they were going to be parents, There was a mix of surprise, happiness, and a bit of anxiety. Raya had been let to believe she could never bear children, due to her species and the fact she was a hybrid. But Raya's pregnancy was completely normal with no complications and had an easy delivery. Nadine Jo Cross was born the twenty-first of June.
Her childhood was pretty typical. She was mostly raised by her mother since her dad was always working. From a young age, everyone could tell that NJ was a daddy's girl. Before she turned two, her dad went on a late night walk and never returned home. She was too young to understand what had happened, all she knew was that her father was gone.
As the years rolled by, NJ spent most of her childhood eating sweets in 'Auntie Rina's' bakery. She was dubbed the official recipe tester when Rina would concoct new flavors. She stayed there from the time her mother went to work until Raya and Rina closed shop.
Occasionally, but not quite often, NJ had to stay with Det. Watson, when her Mother had to deal with an emergency. Which wasn't too terrible, she had found it Watson's three strike rule a little amusing. Then saddest day of NJ's life came, it was time for her to start school. (She couldn't hang out and eat sweets all day, anymore with Auntie Rina.)
When it was time to start school, NJ was excited at first. Until she realized that she couldn't just up and leave when she felt like it. This became even more distressing at lunch time. NJ decided that she would be enjoying Lunch back at Auntie Rina's and marched right out of the school. When one of the teachers stopped her, that was when something happened to NJ's hair. She kicked and screamed, demanding she wanted to go home, suddenly, her fair blond hair had a bright and vivid streak of neon pink appear.
Her mother insisted she had to touch it out and stay in school, but Rina made it a little easier but slipping a few cupcakes into her lunch box every morning before school. NJ got bored with school very quickly. She was eager to learn but there were simply too many rules and guidelines for her taste. NJ had never been one to just 'Go With The Flow”, She challenged authority at every turn. The only Authority Figures she really gave any respect to were her dad's former coworkers, Det. Watson and Det. Roberson. Mainly because when she got in a tight spot, they were always there to bail her out.
By the time she entered Junior High, she was completely fed up with all the rules and regulations and how everything felt more like a prison than a place to learn. That and everything was just far too boring. Being an avid reader, she had read most of her school curriculum material before the second semester rolled around. So, to pass the time, she would ditch the boring classes (Like History) and set up cherry bombs in the girls bathrooms or T.P. The gym Teacher's office. Which often lead, (if she got caught..) to a phone call that would cause her mother to stress out.
Currently, NJ is in her second year of high school and is bored out of her mind. She has some of the highest grades among the student body, showing that she is very intelligent, but she is also very rebellious and destructive. And while she loves her mother, even though she barely remembers him, she misses her father. Lately, she feels as though someone has been following her, but when she turns around, there's never anyone there.
Addition Medical Information: Mild Bipolar Disorder. Other than that, perfectly healthy.
