" This was my counsel room before I changed it to the current theme." He took a moment to look around, smiling warmly at the memories it held. Then he returned to his work of tracking the angles. He loved this old counsel room, but he thought his current one matched his personality better. He took out his Sonic and soniced the monitor. " Aha! There you are." He looked at the map of the Tardis, to see where the angles were. Which was.... Right outside the door. Of course it couldn't be as easy as pushing a button in this counsel and having the angles go 'Poof'. The universe had to make it ten times harder!
The Doctor quickly looked towards the door just as the first of the angles was coming through it. " Clara keep your gaze on the angles and don't blink." The Doctor waited for Clara to fix her gaze on the angles, then moved back to the counsel working at a million miles an hour to try and come up with something to get rid of the 'angles'.
Clara looked at the door, as the angels came in. Suddenly, the lights began flickering. "Doctor, hurry up!" She was straining her eyes to stay open. Between the pressure, fear, and constant changes in light, it was extremely hard to keep them from blinking. "Doctor, they're getting closer! Doctor! Doctor hurry up already!" She had never felt fear like this. There had been many times where she had been afraid for her life with the Doctor, but this definitely took the cake. "Doctor..."
The Doctor was working as fast as he could. But with the flickering lights, and the shouting Clara, it was hard to concentrate. Finally, a flash drive popped up out of the counsel and he ran to remove it. Once it was safely in his hands, he grabbed Clara and ran out of the room. Shutting the door close behind him. He showed the flash drive to Clara with a smile. " Got it. "
Clara collapsed a little in his arms, shaking. "B-Bout bloody time. What took you so long?!" She smacked his arm, and stepped away from him. Honestly, she had never been more scared. It was moments like this that proved that the universe was a scary place. Of course, she was trying to appear tough in front of the Doctor. She didn't need him checking on her. He needed to focus to get these things off of the TARDIS. Her freaking out wouldn't solve anything.
He looked Clara up and down to make sure she was okay. Then when he was certain she wasn't going to faint or anything, he rushed down the corridor, to find another one of his past control rooms. As he walked he tossed Clara the flash drive. " If I plug that into the control panel, it should send a type of... security system into the Tardis. Which should disintegrate the weeping angles." As he said this he poked his head through every door along the way. He couldn't really remember where everything was in the Tardis, and unfortunately his past control room was one of them.
Suddenly, a flash driver came flying at her. She threw arms up, and the flash drive bounced off her hands. It fell to the floor, bounced twice, and fell right down a grate.
Clara's eyes went wide, and she slowly looked up to the Doctor. "Um, if I were, to perhaps, just possibly, have dropped the flash drive... On a scale of 1-10, how exactly bad would that be?" She looked down at the grate. Maybe if it was big enough, and they could get get it open, she could grab it?
The Doctor stared at Clara for a moment. " It would be about an 11." The Doctor practically ran over to the grate , peering down into the darkness. The grate more then likely, led to the heart of the TARDIS, acting as a type of ventilation shaft.
He sipped off his jacket, throwing it on the floor, and rolled up his sleeves to his elbows. Slipping out his sonic screwdriver, he bent over the grate carefully taking out the screws. Once he was done, the Doctor turned towards Clara. As much as he would like to be, he just wasn't as small as Clara was. Quickly taking out some rope, that seemed to long to fit into any normal sized pocket, he tied it around her waist. "Your going to have to go down there for me. I'll be here the entire time to direct you, so nothing should go wrong." He walked over to the edge of the now open grate, ready to lower Clara down.
Before she knew it, a rope was being tied around her waist. Joy, the grate went down a long way. And she was going after it. Possibly into the hands of creepy statues... "I suppose there isn't a quicker way?" She laughed, very uncomfortably. Her eyes were pinned to the hole in front of her. All she could think about was the last time she went into the heart of the TARDIS. She still couldn't remember every bit of it... Only pieces.
"Alright... Let's go." Clara got to the floor, and swung her legs into the hole. She looked downwards, and let out a sigh.
The Doctor slowly lowered Clara down the hole, being sure not to lose his footing, and drop Clara to what would be her impending doom. Maybe not the best things to think about at a time like this. He peered over the edge, to see how Clara was doing. “ Do you see it yet?” He couldn't see anything in the hole, it was nearly pitch black. He was hoping that just this once, Clara remembered to have her phone with her, at least that would give her a little light in the black vent.
While peering down the vent, the Doctor thought he heard something coming from in front of him. He slowly looked up, dreading at what he might find. A lone weeping angel stood frozen in place, in front of him. The Doctor thought for a second puzzled, wasn't there more of them? The Doctor quickly spun around, where another of the dreaded statues stood. This wasn't good… The Doctor spun his head between the two angels. Trying not to let his sight off of the statues for too long. “ Clara! Hurry up!!” The Doctor tried to keep his footing, and his hold on Clara, but it was nearly impossible to without losing sight of the angels. Quickly thinking he wrapped the rope around a hook, for some reason protruding from the wall. He couldn't let them get Clara. He couldn't lose her again, and he couldn't lose another companion like that again either. The Doctor slumped his shoulders in defeat. “ Alright, you got me. Now question is, what are you going to do?” He closed his eyes, his last thoughts being that he hoped they would ignore Clara and just go for him, before he lost consciousness.
It was much different than the last time she had been here. Last time, it was in a frozen state of exploding. This time, it was intact. And she could hear things. Like whispers, across time. She tried brushing them aside, looking around for the flash drive.
Where was it? The Doctor was depending on her! Clara rummaged around... And then saw the flash drive hanging from a string. That... That couldn't be right. That was impossible. Clara glanced back and forth, unsure of what to make of it. But, she didn't have time to wonder for long. She ripped the flash drive down, and looked at the core. "We don't have time to find a console!" Clara inserted the flash drive straight into the core.
The Doctor opened one eye, then the other. He had expected the angels to immediately send him back in time, or kill him. Not just stand there with their arms outstretched and their mouths open…. Wait. The Doctor stepped up to one of the angels, tapping its face experimentally. It was just stone. Normal stone! His formula had worked! The TARDIS had frozen the angels in their stone persona, saving him from a ghastly fate. The Doctor let out a relieved laugh. No weeping angels were going to take him today!
The Doctor ran over to the rope he had tied down, and began lifting Clara back up. When she was safely to the top he dropped the rope, and ran over to her. Lifting her into a bone crushing hug. “It worked! It really worked. Oh my impossible girl, you did it.” The Doctor set Clara back down, smiling down at her. “They won’t be bothering us anymore. Their stuck in their stone forms. Now their just regular, harmless, stone angels.”
And just like that, it was over. All of it. She'd never look at a stone statue the same way ever again. "Regular, stone? Good... Doctor, do you keep any sledgehammers in the TARDIS?" What? They might've been somewhat living creatures, but they scared the hell out of her and almost killed the both of them. Was it a ridiculous request to let some anger out?
