If the world was your oyster, what did that make the universe? A seabed of stars and planets, each one hopefully carrying pearls of opportunity? Future Earth had been just that, full of life and energy. This Earth, however, looked like it's pearls had long since gone.
Evelyn stood rather dumbfounded on the bridge of her small pod vessel, scratching at her head in confusion at the alien sequence in front of her. It was like seeing a ghost, the sounds of her dying ship blocked from her ears and suspended in eerie silence. She raised a hand to touch the glass, pressing her palm flat against it and bowing her forehead against the screen. Evelyn had never felt so lost. The pounding in her ears reduced enough to let the unwelcome sound of system alerts clog the airwaves.
"Core failure. Emergency landing protocol initiated."
Repeated the computer urgently, but it fell on deaf ears. Evelyn was preoccupied with the abstract scene in front of her, the wanderlust in her eyes and an awesome smile on her lips. She was only jolted out of her serene stature by the unsteady meanderings her ship was making, tilting and yawing uncontrollably. Evelyn flung herself into the pilots seat and pulled the ship out of it's doomed nosedive, the screens flickering frantically in front of her and the whining of the engines filling her ears. Her fingers danced over invisible keys, locating a suitable place to set down, her eyes glazing with excitement and anticipation. She paused for a second, looked out the window, and decided it would be best to turn the camouflage drive on.
The lights in the bridge phased on and off with surges of power, the screens were reduced to a few and instruments flew all over the room. The ship appeared to hover for a few seconds before crashing untidily into Hyde park and flinging Evelyn around the control room like a piece of washing on a line. The woman had jumped straight back up, dusting herself down in mild annoyance as her face set into a grim line. Debris was strewn all over the bridge, the windows were shattered and, yes, just to confirm (at the frustrated flick of a switch), the power was completely down.
Almost like it had been drained.
The ship would repair itself, that was the brilliance of futuristic technology, but nothing could be achieved whilst the core was out of action. All that needed was time to recharge, if it hadn't been tampered with, that is. The core had probably just swelled with the wormhole energy and shorted out, at least to Eve that sounded a logical explanation. She couldn't just expose herself to the raw energy without protection, no; she would disintegrate within seconds. Then there was the suit, but that was in for repairs since her last core checkup, and since the core was down, so was the computer. And she couldn't run a diagnostic without it. Evelyn cursed; she was backed into a corner. She would have to talk to her father-
Her father. The true impact of the situation hit her like a freight train, causing her to take a step back and lean against the dead console, her mind reeling. She was trapped here, how long for unknown, and with no other way out. Who would take care of her father in her absence? Evelyn felt helpless, out of control but still her adventurous mind was in the driving seat. She was no good to herself here in her ship, perhaps there was even someone on this Earth who could help or some other way to charge the core? Dr. Evelyn Lawrence was certainly not one for sitting around and doing nothing. What harm could a little exploring bring anyway? Besides; this had only been in stories for her before.
With that decided, Evelyn grabbed her jacket off her chair and strode out the ship and into the park, staring up at a sky of various hues of orange before wandering off curiously in the direction of town.
[Okay, this here depicts Evelyn's first visit to Earth. Her ship has fallen through a wormhole from the far, far future to present day Earth where its core has been drained of power and the ship rendered useless in the early morning of Hyde park, London. The plan was for a creature to have attached to the ship during the time gap and drained the core of power and obviously Evelyn and your characters have to try to stop it in an Indiana Jones style way through central London. :3 In terms of characters, I'm looking for potential allies, human or similar from Earth preferred, who can help her out and look out for her. xD PM with any questions and ideas you may have. <3]
