Lizzie woke up early that morning and pulled on a blue shirt that wasn't too wrinkled, then her favorite jean jacket. She grabbed her laptop, shoved it in her satchel, then walked down the street to her favorite cafe. When she arrived she ordered her usual green and white fusion tea, then sat at her usual table out side. She took out her laptop, and started to recode the police website so that when people went there the first thing they would see is a giant my little pony saying " Friendship is magic". She laughed quietly to herself. Brilliant. Just Brilliant. She continued typing on her laptop, not paying attention to her surroundings.
Russ has been up now for exactly three hours, busy with the case files. But today was his day off so he can take a break from work and relax. The young man looked to the stack of books that were sitting on the dining room table, he had finished reading them maybe three days ago. Getting up and walking to the stack he retracted his hands from the books as an ice cold feeling penetrated his skin. He stared at the books with squinted eyes for a moment before grabbing his messenger bag and scooping them up before placing the strap where it is to go.
Stepping out the door he made sure to lock it this time, and strode down the stairs. He figured that this time he can cut through the small playground that separated him from one of three coffee shops he would normally visit. He was not so good at making his own coffee so he would just spend the couple pounds on some from one of the three shops. Stopping out side one of them, he opened the somewhat heavy door and stepped inside. He paused for a moment to adjust the bag and walked up to the counter.
After placing his order and receiving his hot beverage from one of the waitresses, Russ looked around when he saw that there was just one seat left that a girl, hunched over as she looked at her laptops screen. Letting out an inaudible sigh, Russ walked over, clearing his throat before speaking up, "May I sit here?"
She looked up from her rocoding for a second, to see who had spoken to her. a young man in his twenties, maybe close to her age, was standing in front of her. Of course it was okay for him to sit there! Now she just had to tell him that without doing her usual rambling nonsense. " Of course you can, you didn't have to ask. My name is Elizabeth Edwards by the way, but you can call me Lizzie. If you don't mind i'll just be working on my laptop here. But if you do mind I can stop, its okay. I know some people don't like silence when sitting down next to other people, I mean i'am not one of those people I don't really care to talk to other people. Not that i wouldn't want to talk to you, I mean you seem nice and all, thats just my opinion. I'am rambling aren't I. 'am sorry i get this way when I meet other people and have to talk to them face to face, it dosn't mean i don't like you, i just don't do well with organic beings. And i should stop talking.." Lizzie stops herself and puts her head on her keyboard. " Why does this happen to me?"
Russ chuckled, "Thank you Lizzie." He put his hand up and smiled, "It's alright. I don't mind you working on your computer at all. As long as you don't mind me sitting here studying that is." He took a sip of his coffee before putting his messenger bag down onto the floor next to him. He shrugged, "Well you do that because you get nervous around other people. It's normal, so don't put yourself down about it alright?" He smiled lightly and bent down to his bag and got out a pretty thick file out of his back, but then got a book that was thick with pages. He leaned back on the chair, thinking of which one to do first. Picking the file up he placed it back into his messenger bag and pulled the thick book towards him. He opened the book from where he last left off and went straight to reading. although in the back of his mind, he was being nagged about going through that file he brought with him. He took another sip, hoping that would put the nagging feeling to rest.
She watched him sit down, then take out a folder and a book, then watched him put the folder back and start reading his book. She read the top of his folder before he put it back. ' Oh great, he's a detective.' Lizzie decided to work on something else, she minimized her work and took her cell phone out. She wanted to know more about this 'detective', but she was to socially awkward to ask. So she decided to hack into his cell phone. Seemed like the right thing to do. She started typing furiously on her one of a kind cell phone. In about 25 seconds she was in his phone, and looking around. ' Lets see what we have here. Pictures, no. Apps, no. Emails, Yes!.' She clicked on his emails. ' Shoot! Password protected.' She knitted her brows together in concentration and tried to guess his password in a row of trials and errors.
Russ took a sip of his coffee as he skimmed through the information on a sheet of paper in front of him, off course he kept his messenger bag between him and Lizzie.. he did not want her to take a peek at his work and suddenly know what it is that he is investigating as the information is sensitive. He looked to her for a moment, but then looked back to the paper in front of him when he saw that she was just playing on her phone now.
"So.. Lizzie." He paused, not so sure of what to say. He was not really the type to start up a conversation, "What do you do for a living? I mean as a career?" The young man looked to Lizzie.. wondering just what she was doing on her phone. Speaking of phones.. he picked his up off the table and took a peek to see if he had any new messages. There was no more new messages so he placed his phone back down onto the table directly in front of him.
