Jay Monroe walked the streets of London, England. She was getting bored of London and wanted to get out of there, before she begins to get attached to the city. There were so many options though- she could head west to Cardiff, then to Scotland, or head east to the Netherlands and Belgium. With a sigh and an adjustment of her backpack, she continued to search through the streets, trying to find a library, a tourist center, or some sort of place to get information she needed.
Jay smiled to herself, finding a rather nice library. 'Oughta find something here,' she thought, climbing the steps to enter the quiet library. It took her a while to find the geography/world section of the library. After scanning the large shelves, Jay pulled an atlas and a guidebook or two, before tucking them under her arm. She continued to stroll through the library, trying to find more information.
After deciding that she won't, Jay finally took a seat at a long wooden table. She placed her blue backpack on the ground next to her chair and began to read. After a few minutes of flipping through, she was already getting bored. She propped herself up, using her arm. Jay was trying whatever she could to prevent herself falling falling asleep due to bored..
'Scotland's wildlife is typical of the north west of Europe, although several of the larger mammals-'
Zzzzz. Too later. Jay's head lightly hit the table as she began to doze off.
John Walked through the library pushing a trolley full of books, that would occasionally get stuck in one of the tiles and tip over. I bet Time Lords who actually have Tardis's don't have to do this. When he finally got all the books back onto the trolley, he continued his journey through the library, returning books along the way. He looked down one of the isles to see a young girl asleep on one of the reading tables. Thinking it his duty to wake up the young girl, he left his trolley outside the isle and headed towards the table. He walked up to the girls shoulder and gave it a gentle shake. " Excuse me miss? You can't sleep in the library."
Startled, Jay awoke with a jolt. Half-asleep and not quite sure what the man said, she replied with an, "Oh... Right. I'll be going." The response was instinct. Whenever she was woken up by a maid who found her in a hotel room she didn't belong in, she would always to to rush to get out before they called the police. She groggily stood up and pulled a hand through her hair, in attempt to wake herself up. Gathering her books on Scotland, Wales, and the other countries near England, Jay tripped over her backpack. She ended up dropping her books all over the ground. "I'm such a clutz," she muttered under her breath as she bent down to pick them up.

"I'm such a clutz," she muttered under her breath as she bent down to pick them up. John laughed as he bent over to help her pick up her books. " Don't worry, you have no idea how many times I've knocked over my trolley full of books. This is technically nothing." He handed her the rest of her books and stood back up, offering her his hand. " I'am John by the way." He waited for her to return to her feet to say more. " You don't have to leave the library, i was just saying that you can't sleep in here."
Jay tucked a stray hair behind her ear and moved her backpack to a spot where she wouldn't trip over it. "Thanks. I sorta just assumed I should leave. Seeing that if I stayed, I'll probably just fall asleep again," she replied. After realizing she forgot to introduce herself as well, she held out a hand to shake and said, "I'm Jay." She looked to John's book trolley and asked, "With the book trolley you have, I'm assuming you work here. Is that correct?" Personally, Jay thought she wouldn't be able to stand working in a library. It's too quiet, it would eventually become to familiar, and she just generally hated working.

After realizing she forgot to introduce herself as well, she held out a hand to shake and said, "I'm Jay." She looked to John's book trolley and asked, "With the book trolley you have, I'm assuming you work here. Is that correct?" John looked at the book trolley then back at Jay. " Yes I do. I was just working on putting some books away." He looked at the books that Jay was holding. " Planning on going on holiday? Or are you just interested in 'Scotland's wildlife'?" John Laughed as he read the title of her book. " Really? Are you planning on researching the wildlife there? Or do you just like reading about it?" John walked back to his the entrance shaking his head and laughing at the same time. " You don't research much do you? Follow me." He left his trolley at the entrance and headed towards the international section.
Jay took a moment or two to decide how she should answer John's questions. "Yeah, you could say I'm going on vacation," she answered. If you think someone would prepare for a vacation by looking up the country, then you could consider that Jay was always planning for a vacation. She picked up her blue backpack and continued to follow John to the international section. She mentally facepalmed once realizing she was looking in the wrong section of the library. "Was it that obvious that I was completely lost?" Jay asked, giving a small laugh. It was true; Jay usually just took recommendations on where to go next from the locals or the hotel concierge or went around on her own whims. She would admit that, if John didn't give her directions, she would still be trying to look up Scotland's main attractions in some book about wildlife.
"Was it that obvious that I was completely lost?" John looked at Jay as they walked. " Not that obvious, but lets just say I can tell that you haven't been to London before." The finally arrived at the international section, and John walked along the bookshelf until, he spotted the one he was after. He took out a book tilted 'Scotland, the where's and whens to visit' and handed it to Jay. " Try this. It might not have any animals in it, but it will help you find the perfect town, and maybe a hotel."
"You got that right," Jay remarked. She took the book and looked at the title. She opened it and scanned through the table of contents. The book was fairly thorough. It included hotels, landmarks, parks, and the occasionally restaurant. She smiled and looked up at John. "Thank you so much!" Jay thanked, forgetting to keep her voice lowered in a library. Jay was so relieved now that she no longer had to worry about getting the right information. Now, all she had to do was pick her destination and plan everything out.
" Your welcome. Its kind of my job to help people find the correct book." John Smiled at Jay. He wasn't really use to helping people find books at all. He usually worked in the back of the library, re cataloging books, or putting them away. And if he did talk to someone it was usually one of the little kids he looked after when their parents dropped them off. " So do you travel often?" He started walking back towards his book trolley. The books weren't going to put themselves away after all.
"Absolutely," Jay answered. "It's sort of my job, really." Jay was a drifter. She went from town to town, city to city, occasionally farm to farm, exploring the world and picking up odd jobs to support herself. "I've been to a lot of place- Amsterdam, Berlin, Zurich, mostly west Europe. It's been great so far," she grinned. As John walked back to his book trolley, Jay followed him. "Do you need any help with those?" she offered, gesturing to the books. Although she was reluctant to do any work, Jay didn't want their conversation to end.
"I've been to a lot of place- Amsterdam, Berlin, Zurich, mostly west Europe. It's been great so far," John grinned also, " Wow, you really do like to travel." John hadn't done any travel at all really, when he was little his parents would take him to a few planets for outings once in a while, but other then that nothing. "Do you need any help with those?" John looked at his trolley. He would like help, but he didn't want to be a bother. " I'am fine. I do this type of work all the time." He walked behind it and started to push it forwards, only to have it snag on one of the tiles and fall on its side sending books everywhere. John stood over his pile of books. " It might be best if i had help actually." He leaned over to start pick his books up and put them back on the trolley.
Jay let out a chuckle and smiled. She found John's klutziness to have a certain type of cute to it. She picked up the trolley and set it back on its wheels before bending down to help John pick up the rest of the books. Once the books were all on the trolley, Jay asked, "Alright. Is there anything else I could help you with?" She looked at all the books on the trolley and suggested, "Maybe I could help you put these books away." Jay picked out a four or five books that all seemed to share the same topic. "Where should I put these?" she asked, glancing down to the unfamiliar code of numbers and letters on the spine of the book.
John looked at the books in Jay's arms. " Those should go in the young adult fiction area." John pointed towards the area he was talking about. He then picked up six more books and led the way towards the young adult section. " Thanks for helping me by the way. I'am usually left to put the books away by myself. Well sometimes I have help from Julie, her parents work next door so they usually leave her here. I look after her, make sure she doesn't get kidnapped or anything." They arrived at the young adult section and John put his books down on a chair near by. " Okay so just look at the first letter of the Authors last name and put it in the area with that letter." John picked up on of his books and began looking for its rightful place.
Jay searched the shelves, placing and alphabetizing the books she picked out. "It's no problem. I haven't work in a library before. Julie seems like a nice kid though," Jay replied. Sure it wasn't anything like bartending or attending to farm animals, but it still was more interesting that she had anticipated. Occasionally, here and there, she would take a moment to glance at a book that seemed to grasp her attention. It didn't take her too long to snap out of it and continue with her work. It didn't take too long to put all of the books away. Jay gave herself a nod of approval before going back to the cart to pick out a few more books.
