"It's no problem. I haven't work in a library before. Julie seems like a nice kid though," John finished putting his books away and went to the trolley to get some more. " If you don't mind me asking, but, what jobs have you had?" John didn't know if he was intruding or not, he was just trying to make some conversation. He didn't exactly know how to create a conversation, so might as well start with asking her where she came from. " So, where did you grow up?"
"Nah. I don't mind you asking," Jay responded to John's questions about her past jobs. She took a moment to think about all the various jobs she's had. "I've been a waitress, a farm girl, a store attendant, a clerk, a nanny," she listed. Jay paused for a moment, thinking about her short experience as a nanny, "which didn't turn out as well as I planned it would."
Jay stopped for a moment when John asked her about her hometown. She was touchy about the topic, 'Home,' in general, really. She debated whether or not to tell John the truth. Why not? She probably wouldn't see him again. That was how it was with most of the friends she made. However, Jay wondered if John would believe her. She was Paris, France, but her London accent defied it. Oh well. "I'm from Paris. Paris, France," Jay answered, a bit of reluctancy in her tone. Before John could say anything, Jay asked a few questions of her own. "Where are you from? Is being a librarian a full-time job for you?"

Jay paused for a moment, thinking about her short experience as a nanny, "which didn't turn out as well as I planned it would." John Looked at Jay with a amused expression. " A nanny?" John muffled a laugh. He could not see Jay looking after a bunch of children without losing one. Or all of them...

Is being a librarian a full-time job for you?" John could hear the reluctance in her voice when she said where she was from, maybe she wasn't comfortable with her past. But before he could ask her anything more she asked about his past. He didn't know how she would react if he said he was from another planet. But sense she trusted him with her hometown, might as well trust her with his home planet. " I'm from Gallifrey. And I' am a full time librarian." He really hoped she didn't freak out very much.
When Jay saw John attempting to muffle his laugh, she lightly socked him in the arm. In a playful way, of course. "Yeah, a nanny," Jay replied, shuddering at the memory. "I swear, those kids were demons." She remembered the experience quite vividly. All she did was clean and cook, but mostly clean. After a week of scrubbing down the same kitchen nearly everyday, Jay got fed up and quit. It was unusual for her to quit at a job. Once she had her money, Jay usually got fired by deciding do something stupid, fun, and daft in order to go out in a bang. It was quite fun really.
Although she would never be satisfied with a job as a librarian, Jay figured that John would be happy with it. He seemed like the quiet type, the kind who would enjoy the simple things in life. Jay looked at John when he mentioned the odd word. "...Gallifrey," she repeated, unsure of her pronunciation. "Where is that?" she asked. She had never heard of a place called Gallifrey. Jay thought is was because it was some small town. "Scotland?" Jay guessed.

Jay guessed. How cute she thought that Gallifrey was a town in Scotland. He decided to tell her that it was a planet. " No Gallifrey isn't in Scotland. Its a Planet, that was destroyed a long time ago. See i'm a Time Lord, we might look like humans, but unlike you we have two hearts. We also don't age like humans do, I'm 112." He looked at Jay hoping that she didn't already think he was insane. He was betting on a lot just telling her this. If she thought he was crazy, then he might just end up in a insane asylum somewhere.
"Alright...?" Jay said, slowly taking all of this new information in. It was all so new to her. "So you're a humanoid alien old enough to be my great grandfather?" she asked, simplifying the description. An awkward silence appeared as Jay still needed to absorb the information. She had so many new questions. What was John's home planet, Gallifrey, like? Why did he come here? How did his planet get destroyed? However, all Jay managed to get out was, "That's... Amazing." Jay looked at John, now seeing him in a new light. She knew that John wouldn't change from being the nice guy he was, and it's not like he was going to shed his skin and become a martian. But now knowing how John lost his home, Jay felt like she couldn't complain about her own.

" Haha. I guess it is, I don't know." John looked at the ground for a minute lost in thought. He wished he could tell her more about Gallifrey and the Time Lords, but he didn't know much about them. He didn't even remember what Gallifrey was like. He couldn't even speak Gallifreyian! And to him that was just pathetic. He snapped out of his thought, and put on a warming smile. " So Jay, What about your family."
