Anger flashes through the eyes of a very angry Amy Pond. She had given up EVERYTHING for him. Her travels with the Doctor, seeing her child, no THEIR child. What was he thinking? That because her raggedy man couldn't come get them she'd give him up, never! She still thought of the Doctor very often. So why did they keep having this fight?
"Why do you think about him all the time Amy! He's never coming to get us and you know it." Rory's voice cut like a blade to her heart and she flinches mentally from the cruel but true words. "He said it himself this is a fixed point in time."
"That doesn't mean I'm just going to forget him Rory!" Her own voice slices the air like the deadly sharpness of the sword Rory once carried. "He is still a part of me!"
Rory's next words kill her. "Sometimes I think you love him more than you love me! I think you forgot I stood in front of the Pandorica guarding you not him."
"YA? Well he flew into a sun to save all of us." Her eyes flash again and she hisses. "I wish I had never let the Angel get me! I made a big mistake coming here. I should have left on the TARDIS with the Doctor. You're right Rory, I do love the Doctor more than you. At least he doesn't hold his heroics up like a banner." She whirls and storms out of the house her shoulders are hunched and she mutters to herself about no good husbands. "I hate him. I miss you Raggedy Man, I miss you soooo much." She sinks onto a bench and cries to herself.
"Oh Doctor I made such a mistake when I did that. I wish I could take it back." She looks at the town she is in and sighs. "I might as well go back to London." She stands and walks toward where she knew the boats were loading to take passengers to their destinations. "I need to leave this town behind."
When you're an android faerie queen hitchhiking the galaxy (without even a book with DON'T PANIC written on its cover to guide you), there's a lot that can go wrong. In this case, for instance, Queen Titania and her current lift-giver, one Sydney Fogg, seem to have run into one of those wibble-wobbles in the timey-wimey ball that is existence, and crashed in a mercifully out-of-the-way section of the United States. With her signature white cloak covering her pointed ears, Titania looks just as human as Sydney does, if somewhat too perfect a specimen of one; and in any case, their clothes, while not impossible for the era, definitely look out of place.
"It has been some time since I have traveled by boat," she says to Sydney. "Are you sure we'll have better luck in London? This great city seemed so promising..."
"Yes, well..." Sydney answers. "London has always been something of a beacon to-" The pilot's eyes fall on Amy as they approach her, and he shuts his mouth. He really didn't want to be overheard talking about aliens and space travelers Titania, however, has a different reaction, as she notes the tears still on her face.
"Excuse me..." Titania says softly, looking gently upon Amy. "Have you been crying? Is there anything I can do to help?"
"Excuse me..." Titania says softly, looking gently upon Amy. "Have you been crying? Is there anything I can do to help?"
Amy nearly jumps out of her skin at the sudden voice. She quickly wipes away her tears and eyes the people in front of her. Her swift practiced eyes take in the appearance that appears close to authentic but not on the cookie. She then notes the way the two beings carry themselves and shakes her head. These people were definitely not from around here. She nods her head curtly in response to her gentle question. These people were bringing to her mind painful memories, memories she wants to relive but not here and not now. She stands and looks at the stars her knowledgeable eyes travel them a faint, ever so faint smile tugging her lips as her eyes search longingly for a flash of blue.
"You're not from around here are you?" The question seems simple enough but there are layers to it speaking of how much she really knows.
"No... though I suppose I could trace my origins back to this place, ultimately." Titania says. Not only were her creators human, but the stories that inspired them to create her and her homeworld came from Earth as well. "My name is Titania. And you are?" She tilts her head with a look of inquisitiveness.
Amy nods to the woman politely. "I am Amy Pond." She shivers and looks at Titania again. "You are from another planet aren't you?" She shifts her feet and looks away. "I once traveled with a wonderful man named the Doctor. I made a mistake, now I've lost him forever and am stuck here. I want nothing more than to travel the stars again." She doesn't really know why she is telling this stranger all this but she just needs to tell another traveler about her travels. She needs to talk about the Doctor again, if anything to reassure herself he is still real.
"Well now, that works out swimmingly for us," Sydney says, now approaching the others. "Her Majesty Ms. Titania and I... well, I was giving her a lift in my ship when we somehow wound up crashing here," he explains. "So you see, we're stuck here too. And since all three of us are stuck... we might as well stick together, isn't that right?" He laughs, eliciting a smile from Titania.
"Yes... I would say that is an agreeable proposition," Titania answers. She lowers the hood of her cloak and looks toward Amy again. "It is very nice to meet you, Ms. Pond... A lovely name you have, incidentally. It reminds me of the lakes and ponds of my home."
Amy sighs and nods. "Well I am about to board a ship to London." She looks towards the ship and shudders thinking about the Titanic she had double, no triple read the side of that hunk of floating metal making sure it wasn't that terrifying and doomed ship. She sighs and looks at the two beings. "London is where I met the Doctor, we would be able to find a spaceship in London." She adds in her mind that she will also find the Doctor there, she hopes. She smiles a bit and points to the large ship. "Care to join me?" She reaches down and grabs her suitcase as the loud ear pounding ship horn summons them like good little children to the ship. She turns back and stares at them again waiting for an answer.
"Of course we would," Titania answers. "We are headed the same way, after all." Indeed, Sydney's tickets indicate that they're boarding the same ship. "And while we're on our way, perhaps we could tell each other all about our fascinating travels," she suggests with a smile. "I'd certainly like to hear yours, at least." Turning towards the ship, she leads the way in its direction, followed by Sydney.
Amy looks at the woman and smiles. "Alright sounds like a plan." She walks away towards the ship and up the narrow gangplank onto it. She sighs and looks around. "Why can't all ships be bigger on the inside?" She then hands the man her ticket and waits for the woman and her friend to catch up. She then accepts the piece of paper that tells her the cabin she's in and notes the number. "I am in room 313."
Titania and Sydney board the ship, and after brief consultation split up- Sydney bringing what few bags they have to their respective cabins while Titania joins back up with Amy. "I hope the weather will be nice enough for a sea voyage," she says. "Unfortunately I have no way of telling," she adds with a shake of her head. That wasn't the case back on Faerie's Circle, where she knew well in advance what weather was planned for each day. She looks out toward the ocean. "The unknown... is something I have not had to face for much of my life. And yet... I find that I have begun to like it."
Amy chuckles at the woman's comment and walks over to the side overlooking the ocean rather than the bustling city. She looks out over the ocean and nods. Without checking to see if the woman followed her she comments. "The unknown is a wonderfully dangerous thing Titania. She draws us in with the promise of adventure but will spit us out with the bittersweet knowledge that all adventures come to an end." She wipes away a tear on her cheek. "My adventures with the Doctor were many and wonderful. They were full of wonderful people, frightening chases, beautiful planets, and many dangers. Then I made the worst mistake of my life, I chose the wrong man. Now I am stuck here while the Doctor is off having adventures."
She ducks her head into her left palm and massages her eyes trying to keep the un-fallen tears from falling. Her voice chokes as her throat constricts in her valiant effort to remain composed. "The weeping angels seperated us but I think my heart was already confused before that." She turns away from the sea and stares over the crowd of people who should be from her past but are now her present. "I was the girl who waited, now I'm the girl who doesn't want to wait any longer. I was given a taste of adventure, I am not ready to give it up."
Titania listens to this for some time. "Well... Our destinations may be similar, but our goals seem very different," she says, leaning over the railing beside Amy. "I would like nothing more than to end my travels, and find a place that I could call home again," she notes. She reaches an arm out toward the sky briefly, before looking back towards Amy. "As for your relationship problems... that is one area of which I have very little knowledge, unfortunately," she says with a slight bow of the head. "Where I came from, love stories were usually meant to have happy endings. All I can say is that I wish the same for you, whatever decision you come to."
"I would like nothing more than to end my travels, and find a place that I could call home again," she notes.
Amy looks out over the ever reaching ocean darkened by the night sky. The chilling ocean breeze that brings with it the splash of the ocean caresses her face mixing the salt water of the ocean with the salt water of her tears. She chuckles softly at the words her new friend speaks.
"Home? You know here on Earth there is a saying 'Home is where the heart rests.' Sadly my heart rests among the stars, in a beautiful magical blue box with a crazy mad man as its driver." She points to the stars and then turns to Titania.
"I have found that home is always moving and always changing, it is neither constant nor consistent." She sighs again and then returns her gaze to the ocean once more.
"Take me for instance. My home used to be with my mum and dad, they disappeared and I moved to England. I lived there for my childhood dreaming of travels with a man I met when I was eight after he crashed into my backyard. Then I traveled with him and he taught me the joys of adventure." She turns to the queen and frowns. "Now I am stuck here. I chose the wrong path and lost the only home I have ever loved." She shakes her head and looks back to the serene sea.
"Take it from me Titania, if you are indeed looking for a home then remember to look for one with the thought in mind that it may change." She looks at the women and sighs. "Nothing is ever permanent."
"Where I came from, love stories were usually meant to have happy endings. All I can say is that I wish the same for you, whatever decision you come to."
Amy chuckles and looks at her friend and then points to the sea. "Happy endings? Hahaha I don't believe in happy endings. Last time I did I got my heart ripped in two. The only ending I know is the one that never came." She shakes her head and snorts.
"I wont be so foolish this time. I know better than to let myself think that life is a fairy tale. No, I will find the Doctor and live my life in the TARDIS. I am not going to fall for love and that story. I should never have in the first place." She looks once more at her friend.
"Thank you though, for caring. So what brought you so close to Earth? I thought most races view this planet as a sort of backwater planet." She tilts her head to the side and focuses on her friend as the soft growl of the ocean seeps into her head like the birdsong of a certain alien once did lulling her mind into a peaceful serenity of calm.
"Well, it was something of an accident," Titania answers, after hearing more of Amy's story. It seemed to be quite a sad one, and she was relieved to have the chance to change the subject. "I suppose I should start at the beginning though. You see... I am what humans tend to call an 'android'. I was created by the Bronoe family, to take the role of queen on an amusement park planet called Faerie's Circle. It was a wonderful place, full of all kinds of creatures from human myths and legends, and it did very well for many, many years."
"Then one day," she says with a sad shake of her head, "guests stopped coming. Our trade with other planets was shut down. I... do not know the exact cause, but I believe that some terrible thing happened because of androids or artificial intelligence, something that caused a deep distrust of beings such as myself. The human authorities now refused to acknowledge Faerie's Circle as a legitimate world and a legitimate business, merely because we were made, and not born. And so the park was declared bankrupt, closed down... and stripped for parts by heartless businesspeople."
Titania finds her fists clenching at this, before catching herself and relaxing once more. "But I escaped as a stowaway on one of their ships. And somehow, I've found my way here... I suppose I must have fallen backwards through time one way or another. Most likely, it is the reason that Sydney's ship crashed while carrying me. But, in any case, my goal now is to find a place where I can rebuild my kingdom and live in peace." She nods firmly, before giving a bit of a dark chuckle and a shake of the head. "I am sorry, I had hoped to turn the conversation to lighter topics... but I supposed I needed to tell you my own story sometime."
Amy looks at the woman, now revealed to be an android, with compassion. Her story was in no way new to Amy, she had heard and seen so many similar stories on her travels with the Doctor. However she never ceased to feel moved by the victims of misfortune that befalls the many systems of the universe. Her heart ached to travel them and help them, oh how she missed the blue box that is bigger on the inside and piloted by a crazy and wonderful madman. She reaches out and gingerly places her hand on Titania's shoulder and looks into her eyes.
"I am so sorry to hear that Titania. No one should lose their home, no one should be treated in such a way. You are so kind and deserve to have a place of your own to call home." She sighs and looks around at the dark sea. "In my travels with the Doctor I learned of the many places in the universe and saw many site that have taught me to care for the people of the universe. I am sad to say your story is not all to new to me. I hope you discover this place you can call home and hope some day I can visit it." She looks up as a man in a blue tuxedo with an odd looking neck tie around his neck.
"Madams if you would please go below deck and take part in the festivities, it is going to grow chilly above deck and I would hate to see the two of you fall ill." His voice seemed off, almost mechanical like he was simply repeating something programmed into him. She looks him over and note the dull look in his eyes, she had seen that look before and it had not ended well.
With a slight nod however she follows his orders. "You know it is a bit chilly out here perhaps we should go bellow deck Titania. What do you say to joining me in the Cantina?" She looks back at the odd looking man then past him to her friend. Something was not right and Amy was going to do her best to protect her new friend.
The man turns to Amy. "You will find more pleasure with the rest of the passengers at the festivities in the ballroom madam. If you would follow me I will take you there."
"That is very kind of you sir but I am hungry and would like to have a private conversation with my friend." Amy was not about to go to these festivities. There was something wrong here and she knew better than to go with this being. Especially without the Doctor around to save her. "Are you coming Titania?"
"Madam I must insist please allow me to escort you to the ballroom festivities." Amy ignores the crewman and watches Titania for an answer.
