The library was quiet and almost completely empty save for a few people here and there. Mostly staff, one or two from the local university catching up on some homework so, she almost had the big library all to herself which was just how she liked it. Finding a nice quiet corner to herself Audrey pulled out her laptop and sat it on the desk, “Well, at least it’s quiet.” for a minute Audrey sat there and looked at her laptop trying to decide whether to turn it on or not. Shaking her head she rubbed her eyes and sighed. No, no laptop right now she was trying to wind down a little.
Reaching into her messenger bag she pulled out her iPod and a book. Turning the music player to a fairly soft playlist Audrey hit play before opening up the book she had brought with her and started reading, suddenly able to shut out the entire world, the throbbing in her head quieting to a tolerable level. Sighing contently she hunkered down in the comfy chair in front of the desk a little more resting her head on the arm of the chair as she read.
The bass dropped and Audrey awoke with a start jumping out of the chair dropping her book loudly to the floor. Her hand rested on her chest feeling the already elevated heartbeat hammering in double time. She'd always been told that her heart condition was nothing to worry about.. Still didn't stop her from closing her eyes and slowing her breath, trying to calm her heart rate. Stupid Tachycardia.
Looking at her watch, after her heart rate finally slowed to an acceptable rate, the library was well past closing. Audrey frowned, “Odd.” Billy, the libraries security guy, usually made sure to keep an eye out for stragglers who feel asleep in here, wake them up and send them on their way. Billy was a nice guy he and Audrey had had several conversations about how ridiculous it was that a library had a need for a security guard.
Shrugging Audrey started packing up her stuff, and turning her computer off, wait a minute she didn’t remember turning it on. Yawning a little “Whatever.” she must have turned it on in her sleep; she’d done weirder things in her sleep. Shrugging again she shut down and closed her computer before returning it to her bag.
Audrey readjusted her massager bag as she came nearer to the front doors of the library “Hey Billy, mind letting me out? I feel asleep in the chair. Billy?” she raised her voice a little when she said his name the second time and listened as her voice echoed a little off the floors and the book shelves. “Helloooooo?” Ok, he must be off in another part of the building, shrugging she reached for the front doors handle and turned only to find them locked.
Audrey groaned a little, she could pick the lock she knew that, but she’d save that for if she couldn’t find another way out or at least find Billy to let her out. Turning she headed back into the library to find another way out.

Alright so perhaps this could have been a lot worse, it could have been a Squad of Daleks. Granted... this was just as bad, but it could've been worse. Well, a troop of Cybermen with another underground upgrading station beneath a rather well visited library, that was still fairly awful. And to think... The Doctor could have been in system five, running from whatever species wanted to kill him that time and having a grand ol' time. Granted the only reason he wasn't there in the first place, was because of some blip he got on his wibbley-wobbley distortion finder as he was heading back to his TARDIS.
So here he was, running with a security guard called Bob? Bill?... Anyway... running from marching metal suits with desensitized human minds. He was running as fast as his advanced respiratory system would allow him to go. "Come on Bill, keep up!" The Doctor shouted, as the sounds of clanging metal and electronic voices repeating the same phrase over and over again echo'ed through the dimly lit concrete passageways. Somewhere down the line he could have sworn he heard a rather high pitched scream, but then again he was hoping it had only been his imagination.
It wasn't until the Doctor actually stopped running to unlock the door he entered through in the beginning had he realized it had very suddenly, strangely quiet. After hearing the slight click from the door's lock release, he grinned and stated "See, that wasn't so bad, right Bill? ... Bill?" He looked behind him, only to realize that he was very much alone. The Doctor grimaced slightly, hoping the worst hadn't happened. "Every time.. Everytime I tell them not to wander off on their own, and everytime they wander off." To make matters worse, the marching had started up again, so the Doctor seemed to be inbetween a rock and a hard place, as he shut the door and locked it with his screwdriver.
Rushing up the steps two at a time, and ran through yet another door which was clearly labeled staff only. The Doctor hurried through the many rows of bookselves and tables, his mind on the current objective. Get To The TARDIS!
"Helloooooo?"
The Doctor stopped, looking towards the owner of the voice, which was, much to his surprise. A woman he hadn't seen since his eighth life. "Oh! Hello there, you do know it's past closing right?"
"Oh! Hello there, you do know it's past closing right?" Audrey stopped and backed up looking in the direction she had heard the voice “Umm, yeah kinda feel asleep and was looking for Billy to let me out of the building.” she looked over the guy a little and raised an eyebrow, “…ok obiviously not an employee here or at least a new guy, so maybe I should be saying the same to you.”
Audrey frowned a little as she thought she heard a pounding noise off in the distance “Speaking of Billy, you wouldn’t happen to know where he was.” they had been talking about books that they had liked and Audrey had brought one for him for when she saw him next.
“Ah yes… well… I guess you could say I sort of lost track of time in…” The Doctor paused with his near ramble as he could hear the Cybermen march getting closer. “And I do think that it’d be best if we left, say right about now?” He suggested as he headed to the front door in a semi jog, he really couldn’t take any chances. After all, that poor doorman, well… security guardsman, the Doctor couldn’t really say if he was still alive or if the Cybermen converted him into something like an unemotional tin man.
The Doctor paused only slightly when the young lady asked where her friend was, before pulling out his sonic and trying to unlock the door. “Billy…?” He was trying to think of someway to say what happened to Billy, without saying exactly what happened to him. “Bill had to go check something out, asked me to close up. Well… re-close up I suppose..” The Doctor continued, after opening the door for her. “There you go, have a good night. I’m going to go see what’s holding our friend up.” He gave her a wide grin and a short wave before rushing around towards the back entrance of the library, where his TARDIS was parked neatly in one of the parking spaces under a lamp post.
There was something, something about this bean pole of a man that struck Audrey as off so she followed him as he led her to the doors of the library and listened to him as he unlocked the front door with some buzzing flash light “There you go, have a good night. I’m going to go see what’s holding our friend up.”
Audrey stood on the outside of the library for a moment why her mind processed what had just happened and then the variables of the outcome of her next decision that she was about to make then act on, taking all of about ten seconds. Turning on a heel Audrey took off after the guy “Oi! Tall, dark and lanky, wait up.”
"Tall, dark and lanky?" The Doctor repeated as he neared his TARDIS, looking behind him to see her following. "Why are you following me? Don't you have some job to get too, perhaps sleep? you know.. normal human activities." He reached into his pocket to pull out his key to unlock the doors. Placing his hand onto the side of the box, before opening the door and walking in. Not even bothering to lock it behind him.
He pulled up one of the grates of the flooring, looking through a container for something that would actually help him out. Specifically, a thing that goes beep. He tossed books, rubix cubes, and other assorted objects behind his shoulder before pulling himself out and the small handheld device with several buttons and lights on it. "Aha! Found it."
"Why are you following me? Audrey tried to hide a smile as she ran to catch up with the man she’d already nicknamed Lanky in her head “Don't you have some job to get too, perhaps sleep? you know.. normal human activities." rocking back and forth on heels when she came to a stop Audrey grinned a little “Nope, sure don’t, don’t sleep much as it is anyway and as for job,” She shrugged “They’re fine without me.” there was something about Lanky that she couldn’t quiet put her finger on.
She had just planned to stand on the outside of the old police box while this guy did whatever it was that he was gonna do inside it. “Hey, how much do expect to be able to accomplish…” Audrey stopped midsentence as she stepped into the old and did a circle as she walked up the walkway, it was bigger on the inside how…how could it bigger on the inside.
When Audrey got to the top of the walk way and had to stop, her pulse ran double time and she had to place her hands on one of the railings to catch her breath "Aha! Found it." Audrey gripped onto the railing a little harder willing her heart back to normality “Good, can we go now?”
“Yes, yes... It’s bigger on the inside.” The Doctor explained when she suddenly stopped talking, figuring that’s what it was and to be honest, he really enjoyed saying it. Finally finding what he was looking for, he stuffed it into his jacket pocket and quickly climbed out of the grate flooring. He would put it back in when he got back, at least that’s what he told himself.
“Good, can we go now?”
As he made his way back to the door, he stopped, staring at Audrey. “That wasn’t quite the reaction I had anticipated, I almost expected something along the lines of ‘This isn’t possible’.” The Doctor explained, trying to use a slightly higher pitch voice although that wasn’t quite working for him. “or even ‘How? What- This- How?!’ you know the normal thing that usually is said upon-.” He heard a beep from his pocket, and focused back onto the situation at hand.
“Right! Let’s go find Bill.” The Doctor rushed outside, waiting until Audrey was out of the TARDIS so he could quickly lock his ship. Walking quickly towards the front of the library, stopping short and pulling Audrey back out of sight when he noticed a large metal arm through the door. “Okay, going to have to use plan B…”
“That wasn’t quite the reaction I had anticipated, I almost expected something along the lines of ‘This isn’t possible’. or even ‘How? What- This- How?!’ you know the normal thing that usually is said upon-.” Audrey rolled her eyes a little, she couldn’t help it, the pounding in her chest kept her pretty much numb to the fact that she had just stepped into a box that was bigger on the inside, if she hadn’t been more focused on that she’d of had a long, long list of questions for the man she’d mentally nicknamed Lanky.
“Right! Let’s go find Bill.” Audrey pushed off of the railing “Thank the Gods.” she took a deep breath as she followed him out of his ship.
“Hey I never did catch your…” she let out a small eep noise when he pulled her back quickly, “Okay, going to have to use plan B…” slowly she stuck her head a little around the corner and saw the arm sticking out of the door “…and plan B would be?”
