Finn walked along the high street, her boots padding softly across the pavement as the song 'Gangman Style' blasted through her headphones and into her ears. Finn did the occasional twirl and Gangman Style dance, not giving a damn that people were staring.
As the song ended, she started it again, this time singing. "Oppa Gangnam Style!" and she skipped along, twirling and whirling until she accidentally bumped into someone. "Sorry!" she gasped, taking out one of her headphones in embarrassment.
"That song is really catchy!" she apologized. "Look!'' she said, putting the headphone near the strangers ear so that they could hear 'Gangnam Style' "See? It's good, huh?" she smiled shyly and elt the headphone drop. "I'm very sorry, are you alright?"
When the Timelady first awoke, she was staring up at a dark red and orange sky. The air felt hot, and smelled of burning fuel. Quickly she sat up, taking note of the large metal frame that was currently enveloped in flames. Pieces of burning sliver colored fabric floated through the air.
Humans were panicking, screaming at one another as they tried to get help for any survivors of the wreckage. Someone was trying to help the Timelady up, their lips moving rapidly as she stared at them. A blank look on her face, she couldn't focus on what they were asking.
"I'm fine," She finally replied, coughing not from the large amount of smoke, but from trying to fix her voice. "Really, I'm.. I'm alright." It was just as she feared, she had regenerated. Oh the life of a Gallifreyan, and she had just gotten use to the old body.
Getting a better look at what use to be the main structure of the crashed aircraft. And the quick glance at the Vortex Manipulator on her wrist. Made some of the missing pieces fall into place.
Now she knew where she was, and what was going on around her. It was May 6th, 1937. Nearly nine in the afternoon, and she was at the crash site of the Hinderburg. Apparently, going by her torn, and burnt white sweater, and the rips in her jeans. She had been in that crash.
Well that would explain why she had to regenerate.
Seeing that officers were starting to talk to some of the witnesses, the newly regenerated Timelady decided it'd be best to try a vanishing act. With a bit of fiddling around with her Vortex Manipulator, and a quick press of a button. She was out of there, out of danger, out of the Time vortex, and a bit out of breath.
After a couple moments of attempting to calm herself down, she felt someone bump into her. Immediately she jump up straight, and face the new comer. Immediately feeling a bit short.
As the song ended, she started it again, this time singing. "Oppa Gangnam Style!" and she skipped along, twirling and whirling until she accidentally bumped into someone. "Sorry!" she gasped, taking out one of her headphones in embarrassment.
"It's alright, I sort of popped in." That did not sound like an apology, let's try that again. "I'm sorry too, I meant to say. Oh wow I sound like a spaz. Never been a spaz before."
She smiled rather excitedly as this new girl started to share her music with her.
"That song is really catchy!" she apologized. "Look!'' she said, putting the headphone near the strangers ear so that they could hear 'Gangnam Style' "See? It's good, huh?" she smiled shyly and let the headphone drop. "I'm very sorry, are you alright?"
"Molte.. Uh, very good. Yes." She agreed, the song was rather catchy, and she had a feeling Rio would be laughing if he heard her try to say very good in Italian. Wait... Who was Rio? Oh! Right, her best friend, her ex-companion, her buddy. "Am I alright, I don't know. I recently woke up in a field with the burning Hindenburg. Oh! And I can't recall several things, but they'll come back eventually. I'm sure..."
After a short pause, the Timelady held her hand out to the woman, as if offering to shake. "I'm... Marie? No, wait! Sorry. I'm Maria Johnson. Pleasure to meet you."
At least her name came back to her. Even if it didn't seem entirely right.
Finn didn't think this lady was weird. No, not at all. In her younger age, she would have noticed this, but these days, Finn was pretty weird herself, so she wouldn't realize. She smiled at the woman.
As she put her hand out, Finn shook it. "Pleasure to meet you, too. I'm Finn, Finn Green." she smiled politely. "So, are you sure you're okay? I mean, your clothes are a little torn and burnt." she said, touching a burnt part. "Maybe I could get you some new ones, if you'd like."
"Perhaps some food and tea, too?" she asked, smiling encouragingly. She wanted to help out here and find out the whole story. Finn was too much of a nice person, sometimes. But she didn't care; she'd help the entire world if she had to.
As she put her hand out, Finn shook it. "Pleasure to meet you, too. I'm Finn, Finn Green." she smiled politely.
"Finn Green." Maria repeated, as if testing it out. She smiled brightly at the woman called Finn. "I like it. It's new, different. Different is good. Actually different is great!"
"So, are you sure you're okay? I mean, your clothes are a little torn and burnt." she said, touching a burnt part. "Maybe I could get you some new ones, if you'd like."
Maria looked at her clothes, noticing how they were a bit big for her. As if meant someone who was just a little taller. "Oh could you? That would be really wonderful. Absolutely wonderful!" She couldn't help but jump in excitement. Clapping her hands together at the thought of new clothes. "Since you're going to get me some new clothes, does that count as a present?"
Then another thought made itself apparent to her. "Oh! If it is a present does that mean I give you a present too?" she asked as she started checking her pockets for something that might work as a present. It only took a moment but she found a four leaf clover charm for a charm bracelet. "Would this work? Does this make us friends now? Oh I hope so."
"Perhaps some food and tea, too?" she asked, smiling encouragingly.
"Oh that sounds lovel-" She was cut off in mid-sentence, from a sharp pain in her chest. Within seconds she found herself on the pavement, her right hand clutching at her chest. Something had gone wrong with her regeneration, but what?
She looked up at Finn, exhaling what looked like gold dust particles. "Actually, I might need some help."

"Thank you! I like Maria, too. It may not be different, but it's a nice name." Finn said, smiling back. She took in the woman's appearance, and instantly took a liking to it. Yes, with some new clothes, this woman would look amazing.
"I suppose it does count as a present, yes. But thank you! I have a charm bracelet at home." Finn pocketed the charm. "Yes, I do believe it does make us friends." she smiled.
She watched, her eyes wide, and got on her knees in front of Maria. "Are you alright?" she asked. Then she nodded. "Of course, of course! How can I help? I'll do anything." she said, watching nervously. She did hope the woman was alright.

"Not sure.. But I think.." Maria started, a small smile on her face despite the pain in her chest. "I think one of my hearts are going out."
This never happened before, at least as far as she could remember. Most of her regenerations were smooth sailing, granted she figured not all of them had to get up after crashing the Hindenburg.
"Isn't that neat!" Maria was seeming all too excited about one of her own hearts stopping. "I don't know what to do really. This never 'appened before."

Finn looked at her for a moment before getting her to her feet. "Maria, listen to me. If one of your hearts are going out you need to get it going again." she said.
She summoned a cab and bundled herself and Maria in. "We'll deal with this at my apartment." ----------------- Finn had let them in, made tea, and she was now kneeling in front of Maria. "I have an idea to get your heart restarted but I need your permission, and you also need to know...
It might hurt." she said lamely. "Do you still want me to help?"
Finn looked at her for a moment before getting her to her feet. "Maria, listen to me. If one of your hearts are going out you need to get it going again." she said.
Maria nodded, holding onto her new friend for support. "Never had this happen before, so if you have any ideas..."
She summoned a cab and bundled herself and Maria in. "We'll deal with this at my apartment."
"Never been in an apartment before." She admitted as she climbed into the cab.
It didn't take all that long for them to get to Finn's apartment. Maria watched as she payed the cabby with bits of paper. No wait... Earth currency. That was it. Regular paper didn't really work for payments.
When they got up to Finn's apartment, Maria was really starting to feel the effects of only one heart working. Her working heart was rapidly pounding within her chest, to make up for the still one.
Finn had let them in, made tea, and she was now kneeling in front of Maria. "I have an idea to get your heart restarted but I need your permission, and you also need to know..."
"You know, until today, I never realized how strong humans really are." Maria interrupted her, trying to keep her breathing under control. "Either that or.. What's that?"
She had got distracted by an ordinary television remote. Maria picked it up and looked it over, like it was some new discovery.
"It might hurt." she said lamely.
Still a bit distracted by the remote, she replied. "I believe the earth saying goes, 'No Pain, No Gain.' Right?"
"Do you still want me to help?"
Hearing Finn's question, Maria set the remote down and as she looked at Finn, she gave a quick nod. "Can't do it by myself, now can I?"
It was right then, that Maria realized that she didn't know what idea her friend had in mind. "What was your idea again?"
Finn smiled. "It's called a TV remote. I'll show you how it works later." she explained, then she sighed. "f I tell you, you won't let me do it. It's pretty obvious."
"This is going to hurt." and with that, Finn quickly checked which side the heart wasn't working, and she thumped on it, hard. She waited a few seconds before doing it again.
Maria smiled back as Finn explained what the object was. "It's called a TV remote. I'll show you how it works later."
"Alright." Maria was getting all excited to find out how everything worked, when she remembered. Finn hadn't told her the idea she got on how she was going to restart her heart. "What was your idea again?"
Finn sighed, before answering her. "If I tell you, you won't let me do it. It's pretty obvious."
Maria suddenly got this confused look on her face, as she tried to figure out what she meant. However, with a quick shrug, she let it go. "I can understand that. Besides, surprises are fun right?" At least, most surprises are fun, only Maria didn't know that just yet.
"This is going to hurt. Finn explained as she checked which one of Maria's hearts was defective, before hitting it twice. Maria whimpered each time, those were not fun surprises...
"Anything?" She asked, just as Maria calmed herself down enough to feel the beating against her ribcage.
Maria's eyes widened, and she breathed in sharply. A smile grew on her face, before she hugged Finn tightly. "Oh Thank you! Thankyouthankyouthankyou!" She exclaimed excitedly. "You're going to be my best friend forever!"
The excited newly regenerated Timelord let go of Finn, to run about the apartment. Falling over as she accidentally ran into some of the household objects, and doors, and walls. Each time she ran into something, she would get this look on her face as if she was going to cry. Only to get over it a second later, and proceed with her running about.
Finally she ran back towards Finn. "Finn." She whined, hiding behind her best friend. "The big rectangle box thing is making scary noises..." Maria was of course referring to the sound of the fan from inside the refrigerator.
Finn grinned and hugged Maria back. As she ran around the house, Finn just watched her, amused. Eventually Maria came running back and she hid behind Finn.
"Come, let's face it together." Finn said, holding out her hand to Maria and leading her into the kitchen. "Ah, now this...it's supposed to make that noise. Finn opened the fridge and it slowed slightly, and it revealed lots of food.
"Are you hungry? I have ice cream if you want to try some!" Finn offered, smiling back at her best friend. As of about 2 minutes ago, she now had a best friend.
"Come, let's face it together." Finn told her, as she held her hand out for Maria to take hold of. Maria took a moment to look towards the kitchen, then to her best friends hand. Gingerly reaching for it, wrapping her fingers around Finn's palm, allowing her to lead her into the kitchen.
"Ah, now this..." She explained, as she opened the door to it. Maria flinched as if some sort of monster was going to pop out, only to see no monster, just food. "It's supposed to make that noise."
"Really? It's not a monster then?" Maria asked timidly, staring at Finn, as if for reassurance. Which after wards, she smiled brightly once more and hugged her friend again.
"Are you hungry?" She asked, offering to feed her. "I have ice cream if you want to try some!"
"I'm so hungry I could eat a water Buffalo." Maria eagerly replied, though she wasn't even sure what a water buffalo even was. "What's ice cream? Is it good?"
"No, it's not a monster." Finn told her friend with a reassuring smile. "And if it was, I wouldn't let it into my house, now would I?" she pointed out.
"Well, I like it. I hope you do too!" Finn got some out and handed some to Maria, giving her a spoon. Finn got her own spoon and ate some ice cream. "It's cold, though, so be careful." she said.
Having a roommate was going to be very fun, Finn as sure.
"No, it's not a monster." Finn explained, "And if it was, I wouldn't let it into my house, now would I?"
Maria took a moment to think about it, only to shake her head no. If it was a monster, it wouldn't seem logical to let in inside the dwelling place. Then watched curiously as Finn got a couple pint sized tubs of what she called ice-cream out from the fridge.
"Well, I like it." She said, handing a spoon and one of the tubs to Maria. "It's cold, though, so be careful."
Maria held the tub in her hands, nearly dropping it on the counter from how it made her hands feel numb. She stared at the container in awe, then at the creamy colored stuff inside. Looking up at Finn, watching how she was eating her own icy treat. Maria tried to imitate her, only scooping up a bit larger spoonful of the so called ice cream. When she placed it in her mouth, she smiled from how sweet the frozen treat was. Only to start flailing her arms about as she got a rapid headache.
The spastic Timelady whimpered, not wanting to spit out the ice-cream. Mainly because she thought it would get better if she let it melt. It wasn't getting better... Finally it melted down enough that she could swallow. After wards she gave Finn a sort of kicked puppy look. "That... was cooolldddd...." Maria whined slightly, before taking another bite of her ice-cream. Repeated what she did only a moment earlier.
Finn giggled at the reaction and then put her arms around Maria. "Yes, it's supposed to be cold...hence the name, ice cream..but you get used to it, so no worries." she said, smiling softly as she pulled away again to eat another spoonful of her own ice cream. "You know, I'm surprised you haven't tasted ice cream before.."
Finn realized that may sound rather rude, so she quickly added a few things. "I mean, only because people are usually always eating ice cream, except if they don't have a sweet tooth, but those people are kind of weird in my opinion, but that might be because I love sweet stuff..I'm rambling aren't I?" Finn said sheepishly, then she had another spoonful of ice cream to shut herself up.
