John looked out over the frozen tundra that was Antarctica. He had only been here for a few minutes and he was already freezing. He rubbed his bare arms trying to create friction, he had left the TARDIS in a hurry and didn't bother bringing a jacket with him. Which he now thoroughly regretted. He trudged out into the endless white ocean, at least this would keep his legs from freezing up. He thought back to what had caused him to leave the TARDIS abruptly.
John had been sitting in the counsel room absently reading a book, when the mentor quietly came into the room, and sat next to him. At first John thought that he was just going to give him another lecture about touching the TARDIS controls without permission... or supervision. But then he started talking about DNA, and told him that they were related in a way John never thought possible. John was shocked, confused, even a little angry. He didn't even wait for Ko'an to explain more, he just stood up and ran out the door, slamming it behind him.
He stepped out onto the ice, carefully moving his feet to make sure he didn't fall through. He was still angry at mentor, he didn't exactly know why. He certainly didn't want to be angry at him, he just.... John heard a noise behind him, a cracking noise. He spun around quickly, looking at the spider web cracks that had formed behind him. In a panicked haste, he started running back to the more solid part of the ice. He heard more ominous cracking noises, before the ice beneath his feet gave way, dropping him into the shockingly cold water. John was stunned for the first few minuets as the numbing coldness took his breath away, then the shocking realization of what just happened hit him, and tried to swim back up. John tried to find the opening that he had fell in, but instead came to frozen solid ice. He desperately tried to break the ice, his lungs feeling like they were on fire. His body started to slow down as the freezing water, and lack of oxygen started to take affect. He finally blacked out, slowly starting to sink down, and letting the water rush into his lungs.
