Fire spirits? in 22nd century Asia? Preposterous! down right tummy rot. or at least that was the Inspectors thought until he came across the latest victim. or rather, the imprint. The first victim had been chard down to the bone, the second was now half the woman she ever was and the 3rd was burned with such intensity that all that was left was a shadow. Rather like the imprints left after the A-bomb drops. It had been 2 weeks and the problem was despite his experience the thing had a type of teliport that was nearly impossible to track. Nearly. There was a distinct residue that was left that gave of low level artron energy. Very common with Time travel which gave the Inspector great concern. which is why it was so maddening that he had let 3 people die. He had set up a device to alert him when a spike happened but beyond that... there was very little he could do. The police were clueless and all he could do was just wait. unless some one could come by with another time machine to boost the power. Utile then he was content to sit down in this chair while the nice lady went and got her 'friends'.
It didn't occour to him that maybe his questioning into about the 'fire spirit' might have got him in trouble with the locals.
John couldn't believe his luck. He had been tracking down this 'fire spirit' for the past month, and he had finally gotten a good lead. He hadn't been able to track down the fire spirit by its readings, but he had been able to do some reading on the subject, and ask around the small village he was in. The locals didn't seem too keen to talk about the fire spirits, but then again he wouldn't blame them.
John was led into a small room, where an older man already sat waiting. John looked around the room once, then decided to sit in a chair by the window. He liked window seats, they always made a great escape route if things turned south. He studied the man sitting in the chair across from him, he didn't seem like much. But there was something about him the was familiar... John mentally shrugged, he'd probably find out more later if he was lucky. For now he would just make polite conversation, that was how he usually got information anyway.
He smiled brightly at the man, extending his hand in his direction. "I'm John, you are?"
