Character Image
Name: William Tomaz Flask-Keâts
Alias: Avi, Tom
Age: anywhere from Seven (7) on up
Gender: Male
Species: Mostly Time Lord, just a dash of Dulcian and Karlaythian thrown in.
Planet of Origin: Earth
Occupation: Once he got over his fear of them, Avi began studies in ghosts and demonology. He's not professionally trained but he makes a living off of getting ghosts to leave people's houses. On rare occasion, a ghost will come to him, pleading his help. This usually happens because the departed can not recall how they died and often suspects foul play. So if you had to call his occupation something, “Ghost Detective” would be accurate.

Physical Description: As a youth, Avi was short in stature and very thin looking. His hair was cut short, just above his eyebrows, seeming to bring out his bright blue eyes, inherited from his father, John. In fact, Avi inherited a lot from John. The way he smiled, the way his ears would stick out slightly, the dark hair and bright blue eyes. What he inherited from his mother was her slightly larger lung system and while his bones aren't hollow like hers, they were more fragile and he bruised easily.
In is late teen to early twenties, Avi was practically a carbon copy of his father from his first life. He had short but shaggy black hair that was trimmed in such a way, it made his ears stick out slightly. When he neared thirty, he regenerated. No one seemed to notice as his new body was identical to his first, only that he now seemed to be a red head. Everyone just assumed Avi had started dying his hair and no one was the wiser.
But when his third incarnation made it's appearance, there was no question in anyone's mind that Avi had regenerated. He was over six feet tall with dark hazel blue eyes, and a thick crown of brown curls. He had the most brilliant smile and goofy laugh.
Personality: Avi is bright and cheerful if not a bit awkward. He's well aware that he is 'different'. Being Autistic and being able to see things other people can't, he tries to act as normal as possible, which sometimes makes him stand out all the more. He loves asking questions because he is curious and inquisitive but he comes across as rude and extremely nosy. He also inherited his mother's talent for misquoting common sayings.
History: When Avi was born, he was very small, a little under five pounds. His mother, Rowan.. due to her Dulcian physiology, was physically unable to carry her son to term. His bones weren't hollow like hers and he had simply gotten too heavy for her. Other than being small, William Tomaz Flask-Keâts seemed perfectly healthy. It wasn't until he was three when his mother began to suspect something was 'off' about him.
Avi seemed unwilling to make eye contact for longer than a few seconds, he would stare off into space for hours on end, and begin giggling at nothing. When agitated, Avi would rock on his knees, or fiddle his fingers rapidly. Rather than play with his toys, he would line them up in a straight line or stack them. Avi had all the clear signs of Autism. Rowan was willing to accept this but it seemed like there was more to it than that. Autistic children didn't have conversations with shadows in their closet.
As little Avi got older, he started to sleep walk. No one thought much of it at first, simply gently guiding him back to bed. Rowan seemed to be the only one convinced that Autism wasn't the only thing going on with her kid. Everyone kept telling Rowan she was over reacting and that Avi's autism was nothing to be worried about. That all changed the day Avi started forming bruises on his arms and legs. Avi was a typical kid that liked to play and got the occasional bump or scratch. But the bruising on his body looked as though someone had grabbed him way too forcefully and left dark purple hand prints on him.
His mother had royally flipped, swearing up and down and threatening if she found out who put their hands on her son, she'd kill them. As if to answer her declaration, one of the potted plants on the shelf in their home fell to the floor. Avi timidly whispered “She mad, again, Mama.” Rowan's eyes went wide and her skin visibly paled as she replied with a very sound and unwavering 'NOPE' and picked up her son and left the house.
When she brought Avi to the library where his dad, John, worked, Rowan proceeded to inform him that their house was haunted and that they were moving out. Avi looked between the two of them innocent and confused as to shy his mother was freaking out, not understanding the significance of the woman he could see than no one else could. With all the crazy things Rowan had seen growing up, ghosts was the last things, Rowan was going to deal with.
Avi could vaguely remember his parents arguing and discussing the idea of moving. They had just put down a payment for their home and been there less than a month when things started to get weirder. On a regular basis, different lights would flicker, rooms would become chillingly cold, photos would fall from their places on the mantles or walls. Avi could distinctly recall the day his mother finally put her foot down and packed up all her belongings and she and Avi spent the night in a card board box in the front lawn. It was her way of putting her foot down to John because he knew she wouldn't leave that box until he agreed.
When they moved, things seemed to calm down around the house for a week or two. But it became apparent when things started falling and Avi's bruises began returning that whatever they were running from had followed them. One day, something in Avi seemed to switch on. His mother's fear, his father's concern, Avi actually got angry with the ghost that had invaded their home. It was then, he also learned that he could touch a ghost in return. He told the ghost in no uncertain terms that if it didn't start being nice and stop scaring everyone, he was going to make her leave.
That was how everything started. The ghost turned out to be a little girl who was frightened and angry because she had died and didn't know what had happened. The ghost didn't look much older than he did and his hearts ached for her. He promised to help. As the years passed, Avi studied about the different types of ghosts, reasons why they linger, how to help them pass on and so on. When darker entities began coming to call, Avi found he was in over his head. He turned from supernatural studies to studies of the divine and demonology. In short, Avi found himself becoming an unofficial exorcist. It was actually somewhat exciting for Avi. Being excluded by so many for so long because he was different, he rather enjoyed the fact that people were reaching out to him for help, The Living that what he called 'The Left Behind'.
When Avi turned 30, he experienced his first regeneration. He found out the hard way that he was allergic to cashews. When it was over, Avi was terrified and confused and ran to his parents. His physical appearance had hardly cjhanged aside from the fact he had gone from a brunette to a ginger. Everyone just assumed Avi had started coloring his hair. He didn't know how to express what had happened and finally gave up trying to tell his parents and continued on.
He remains, to this day, devoted to helping The Left Behind and is still trying to help solve the mystery of the little girl...
Addition Medical Information: Autistic. Possesses several supernatural abilities in one degree or another. Can see Auras. Auras help Avi to see what sort of person he is talking to, whether they are happy or sad, lying or being honest, and in general if they are a good or bad person. Avi can see and speak to things that most people can't. The most common entity of this nature are Ghosts. Avi is also a 'Touch/Know”. When he touches certain items, or holds someone's hands, it doesn't always work but sometimes he can feel a person's surface emotion or tap into a dormant memory. And while Avi will never fully master it, he possesses telekinesis. When upset, things tend to fall off of shelves or be pushed away from him. Has a larger lung capacity, able to hold his breath for longer, and run farther without tiring. While more dense than his mothers, his bones are fragile, and he bruises very easily.
