Name: The Twelfth Doctor
Age: 2100
Gender: Male
Species: Time Lord
Planet of Origin: Gallifrey
Occupation: Time traveller
Physical Description: In contrast to most of his predecessors, this incarnation of the Doctor was much older in his appearance, with short grey hair, silvery blue eyes, and thick furrowed eyebrows. He was tall, gaunt, and had a light build. His outfit comprised of navy blue trousers, black brogue boots, a white shirt, navy blue cardigan or waistcoat, and a dark blue Crombie coat with red lining . The shirt and vested garment would sometimes be exchanged for a coloured dress shirt on its own or a black turtleneck jumper. On his left hand he wore two rings; a normal gold band, and a ring with an emerald gemstone atop the first.
Personality: The Twelfth Doctor did not retain the childish manner of his most recent selves; as he knew that he had actually saved Gallifrey rather than destroyed it, he no longer needed to use that as a way to cope with his guilt. This resulted in him having more subdued emotions and being harder to read. He had a darker nature and could be quite manipulative, sometimes leaving his companions in danger and appearing to be uncaring. This would only be the case if he did not deem the situation too dangerous for them, and like all his other selves, he would fight his hardest to protect those close to him. He just did not show it as much, acting more detached, and reacting awkwardly to hugs and physical contact. Aware of his conflicted morality and darkness, he would rely on the help of his friends to stop himself from succumbing to it, and he was still as self-loathing as his previous selves had been.
History: After fighting nearly all his enemies during the Siege of Trenzalore for nine hundred years, the Eleventh Doctor, having aged to the point of death and expended all his lives, was ready to accept his death at the hand of the Daleks. But then the Time Lords granted him a new regeneration cycle, and his explosive 'reset' regeneration restored his body to its original younger form and destroyed the Daleks. Then when he was back in the TARDIS with his companion Clara Oswald, he regenerated properly into the Twelfth Doctor. Forgetting how to fly his ship due to temporary amnesia, the Doctor somehow managed to get the TARDIS swallowed by a female Tyrannosaurus Rex. When he attempted to fly it again, he transported the dinosaur with him, ending up in the Thames in the 1890s London where the big woman choked the TARDIS back up. Here, the Doctor and Clara once again met Madame Vastra, Jenny Flint and Strax. Despite the Doctor's post-regenerative amnesia and delirium, he investigated the spontaneous combustion of the dinosaur to discover the presence of Clockwork Droids from the future in London. They were the crew of the SS Marie Antoinette and had been harvesting humans to repair themselves in order to reach "the Promised Land". While Clara and the Paternoster Gang fought off the droids, the Doctor followed their leader on to the flying escape pod to try and convince it to self-destruct. The leader acknowledged the Promised Land was a superstition gained from the humanity used to repair itself, but stated that self-destruction was against its basic programming. The Doctor said murder was against his, but they both knew that one of them was lying. The leader of the droids fell out of the escape pod, causing the others to deactivate as it was the control node. Whether it fell, jumped, or was pushed is something only the Doctor knows.
Briefly leaving to settle on a new outfit and slightly redecorate the TARDIS, he returned to pick up Clara and take her home, accidentally ending up in Glasgow. After his companion received a phone call from his past incarnation asking her to help him, they went to get coffee, but the Doctor got distracted. He went off and saved a rebel soldier from an attack by a Dalek saucer in the future, taking her back to her ship where they held a Dalek prisoner. This Dalek had been damaged so that it was supposedly 'good' and believed the Daleks must be destroyed. Going back to pick up Clara, three weeks later from her perspective, they were miniaturised and placed inside the Dalek, called Rusty by the Doctor. They discovered that the damage was the result of radiation leaking and affecting Rusty's brain, coupled with seeing the birth of a star which showed it that life would always prevail. When the Doctor repaired the leak, however, the malfunction was corrected, restoring Rusty's 'pure' Dalek nature. As it began killing the rebels, the Doctor linked his mind with Rusty's to try and make it good again while showing the memory of the star's birth. Instead Rusty saw his hatred for the Daleks, and became a merciless killer of his own race, saving the humans while the Doctor and Clara left.
The pair continued having intermittent adventures, with the Doctor picking Clara up from Earth every so often. When he gave her a choice of where to go, she asked to see Robin Hood, a legend who they discovered was in fact real. The Sheriff of Nottingham was working with robots disguised as his knights, who like the Clockwork Droids were trying to find the Promised Land, but were defeated by the Doctor, Clara and Robin. The Doctor later became obsessed with the idea that he and every other creature in the universe had a 'silent companion', a creature with the ability of perfect hiding that followed them and caused a certain nightmare. He asked Clara to help just after her date with Danny Pink, planning to travel back to a point in her childhood when she had the nightmare, but she was distracted by a call from Danny and they went back to his childhood. After meeting future time traveller Orson Pink, the TARDIS landed on Gallifrey and while the Doctor was unconscious, Clara found a child version of him. She proposed that there was no creature and that the "big bad Time Lord was just afraid of the dark", making him leave and never find out where they went. Some time after that, he received a phone call from Madame Karabraxos, a woman he gave his phone number to in the future. She asked him to free a creature called the Teller from the Bank of Karabraxos, where they first met. The Doctor invented the persona of the Architect to recruit himself, Clara, an augmented human called Psi and a mutant human called Saibra. They had to use memory worms to wipe their memories of why they were breaking into the bank; not doing so would have caused the Teller to alert a younger Madame Karabraxos of their presence. The heist, however, was a success, with Team Not Dead discovering why they were there, freeing the Teller and his mate to live in solitude.

Promised Land;
A place or situation in which one expects to find great happiness
The land of Canaan (in the Bible), promised to Abraham and his descendants (Gen 12:7)
Dropping the stick of chalk on to the table beside him, the Doctor folded his arms and looked up at what he had scrawled on his blackboard. He chewed his lip, stuck the tip of his tongue out, tapped his teeth, picked up the open book beside the chalk, scanned a page, and then let it fall back down.
“Nothing!” he announced, turning away and walking down the steps to the console. “Nothing at all. No galactic co-ordinates, no planetary or system designation…nothing except that age-old Earth reference. No such thing as the Promised Land.” With a huff of air from his cheeks, he pulled down the dematerialisation lever, leaning on the console as the spinning cylinders on top of the time rotor ticked away. He swung around one of the monitor screens and hit a few buttons to close down the window opened on it. It didn’t contain much more information than what he had on the blackboard. Nothing of significance, anyway.
As he played with the controls, flicking levers and switches, he suddenly paused and frowned. “I was talking.” He turned and looked around the empty console room. “Why was I doing that? No one else is here.” Thick eyebrows furrowing even more, he quickly moved down the steps from the main platform and poked his head into the corridor entrance at the back of the room. “Clara? You’re not lurking about anywhere, are you? If you are, don’t try making another soufflé. The accident with the gas hob was bad enough. I’m pretty sure there’s still paste in some corners.” Allowing a small smile to himself, the Doctor returned to the console. He leaned against one of the side panels that was situated by the railing and shivered. He didn’t much fancy doing the talking-to-himself thing too much. Where it got him the last time had been frightening enough, though he would never admit it. He knew there were no creatures with perfect hiding lurking about. Yet part of him still urged caution. “I really am getting old,” he sighed.
Promised Land, Promised Land…did it mean anything? Two spaceships stranded in periods well past their time, both run by some sort of robotic crew, and trying to reach the supposedly same destination. Why? What was the point? What did they hope to achieve by attempting to locate a superstition of paradise?
Did it really mean anything?
Probably not. “Wasting time again.” Throwing his hands up in the air, as if to show he was exasperated with the companion who wasn’t really with him, he resumed his work at the controls. Where would he go today…maybe he should pick up Clara first. He knew he had only dropped her off a couple of hours ago – or had it been a day? Two days? 23.0003718 hours? – but he could skip ahead to her next Wednesday. She wouldn’t mind. Hopefully she wouldn’t be distracted by whatever made her eyes go all wide. Or a shelf. Who makes an appointment with a shelf?
The Doctor moved across to another panel, about to put in new co-ordinates, but then there was a jarring impact which felt as though it caused the TARDIS to tip backwards. He was thrown into the edge of the side panel behind him as the time machine spun around. Or was he spinning? Or was the console platform in the same position but the walls around it spinning? Up, down, back and forth, into the top-right corner…he shook his head to clear it before throwing himself back on to the console. The spinning had slowed to a more manageable level, but the metal vibrated with a strong shake and loud rumbling. The Time Lord’s hands moved frantically across the panels, throwing down a row of switches and punching a square of buttons.
A few seconds later, there was a loud thump as the TARDIS halted. Her pilot slowly straightened up, backing away from the console at a snail’s pace, his feet testing the platform to make sure they didn’t fall through. When he was convinced stability had been properly restored, he let out another sigh. “What’s gotten into you, then?” he asked, looking up at the time rotor. The frown had returned. His only response to the question was a low groan.
“It’s been a while since you got that temperamental. All holidays must end, I suppose.” He flicked on the handbrake as he strode past the console towards the doors and buttoned the top button of his coat. Whatever had caused the turbulence was probably outside. Most likely. Hopefully. Or maybe his ship had wanted Clara back as well, and got caught up in the excitement of getting there to pick her up.
The Doctor quickly perished that thought as he pulled the doors open with a flourish, stepping out impressively into the bright glare of what would no doubt be a new world or time.
