Multi-dimensional pockets? Aixa could understood the words, but he had never heard them together. His own Lamp was multi-dimensional. Aixa looked at the coat contemplatively. “I wonder how you create them?” he asked, putting his hands behind his back and peering at the Time Lord. “I mean, I wonder if we do it differently.” To be honest, he had no idea how the Jinn did it. He just knew that he was trapped by the Lamp, and he wondered if Leo, too, was trapped by something. “Interesting.” Aixa shook his head sharply, getting rid of the excess water in his hair.
Gallifrey?
Aixa looked towards Leo, a little perturbed by the sudden change in his friend's behavior. But he had anticipated it. He had seen the girl, and he had seen the war. Even he could put two and two together. “Yeah, that's fine,” he said easily, although really he didn't know if it was fine at all. Here he was, shamelessly flirting with someone who was still grieving. He felt dirty. A little disheartened, he pulled his jacket off. The water had made it heavy on his shoulders.
“I had someone... she was my angel...” Aixa tensed at those words, but then he kept speaking. “I am not sure if there is anyone else out there for me...”
The Djinn felt like some sort of dirtbag. And he didn't want to have this conversation in the middle of a street in the pouring rain, but it was England and it didn't get much sunnier. “Leo...” he trailed off, trying to piece together what he was trying to say. He didn't normally have this problem, but the Time Lord seemed too innocent. “I know how much it hurts,” he said earnestly, grabbing Leo's hand and pulling him to a stop.
“And maybe it won't get better. Sometimes it doesn't,” he admitted, pulling his hand back and wringing his discarded jacket a little uncomfortably. “You'll hurt for a long time, and it will get worse before it's better. And maybe this sounds cheesy or corny, but be the man your angel fell in love with.”
Aixa put a hand on his cheek, playfully pushing Leo's lips up into a smile. “You'll be okay,” Aixa promised solemnly. “One day.”
The Nomad looked up at Aixa, “Leo...” he seemed to have trailed off as though he was thinking of what to say, then the man grabbed his hand and made him come to a stop and said, “I know how much it hurts,” with an earnest voice. Before Leo could say anything, Aixa continued, “And maybe it won't get better. Sometimes it doesn't,"He tossed his jacket over his shoulder, the Time Lord took the umbrella down, he somewhat welcomed the cold droplets of water, “You'll hurt for a long time, and it will get worse before it's better. And maybe this sounds cheesy or corny, but be the man your angel fell in love with.”
The Time Lord tried to speak up but Aixa had a hand to his cheek and forced him to smile, the last person to do that was Thalia when he was upset about something that he saw during the war, when he got so angry for the first time that he destroyed an entire fleet of Daleks without mercy. He wished that she could be around still to keep him on the right track.. and to of course be there for him and The Nomad for her, "You'll be okay,” Aixa seemed to be promising that.
The Time Lord looked at Aixa in the eyes, "Of course I will be." He gave a cheerful grin and released his face from the man;s hand, "It will take time.. just like you said.." He sighed somewhat unhappily, "I do not know if I am the same man she fell in love with.." Then the flash backs of what he did in the past came into view, he shook his head then looked to Aixa, "Should we keep going?" Then something sparked his interest when he saw something run past them.
The Nomad looked to where the figure disappeared to, "Did you see that?" When what ever it was did not smell like an alien he shrugged, "Never mind.. was just a human running in the rain."He sighed with some relief, then grabbed Aixa's hand and forced the umbrella into his hand, "Your turn with the umbrella."
(Sorry for the delayed reply, had a long emotional day, somewhat good emotional though.)
Aixa raised his eyebrows, looking a little skeptic. Leo pushed his hands away, so Aixa dropped them by his side. The Time Lord had just looked like Aixa was the man responsible for killing his puppy. There was no way that the happiness was real and that the grin was genuine. “Okay,” he said eventually, pulling his jacket back on. It was still wet and heavy, but suddenly it didn't seem right to be only in a loose t-shirt around the grieving man. “That's okay,” he repeated, putting his hands in his jacket pockets. “I... I'm sorry, you know? I didn't mean to bring it up.”
Apology out of the way, he looked to where Leo was looking. There was definitely a strange scent, but he was surrounded by rain and a Time Lord, so perhaps the two together smelled strange. Nonetheless, he continued walking, listening as Leo declared it was just a human. “So how could you tell I wasn't a human?” he asked. “I mean, I could smell you. Could you smell that I wasn't human?” he questioned.
Leo grabbed his hands. Aixa's cheeks darkened, and his breath caught in his throat momentarily.
“Your turn with the umbrella.”
And the umbrella was forced into his hands. Aixa nodded mutely, a little embarrassed. Why was he acting like this? Sure, he got smitten easily and he would flirt with a picture if such an occasion were to arise, but Leo clearly wasn't interested. And while that didn't normally deter him, Leo was too cute to mess with.
So Aixa stood, dumb-founded and staring blankly at Leo. His mind was reeling, trying to catch up. He took a tentative step forward. “Right, thank you,” he said finally, raising the umbrella. “I, uh...” he trailed off, shutting his mouth. He looked at the ground, crossing the street quietly and continuing up the sidewalk. “It's here,” he said, unceremoniously opening the door to his apartment complex. He closed the umbrella, walking up the stairs to his floor. He fished his keys out of his jacket, opening his door after hesitating a moment.
His apartment was a mess. There were thousands of books crammed all over the apartment. They lined the walls in great stacks, covering the windows. There was a little excuse of a bed in the corner, but it was covered in books and papers. The couch was covered as well. The floor had ink stains and papers on it. There were papers taped to the walls – written in Aixa's small Arabic scrawl.
“Erm... let me just... push the books off the couch...” he said weakly, a little embarrassed.
“So how could you tell I wasn't a human?” he asked. “I mean, I could smell you. Could you smell that I wasn't human?” he questioned.
The Nomad looked to Aixa, "Well first off, I knew by your scent." He said then looked down, "When I walked in and saw you well I was able to tell.. it's hard to explain. It is like when you are looking at someone that is wearing a really good mask but you are still able to tell." He was not sure if that was a good way to sum it up.
Then with what sounded was a sad, “It's here,” and opening a door to a building, Leo could guess that Aixa's apartment, he wanted to say something to cheer him up, he will wait till the right moment to say something, then they were in his apartment, it was not the cleanest but it still felt homey to the Time Lord.
“Erm... let me just... push the books off the couch...” Aixa said rather weakly.
The Nomad reached over and grabbed a small stack, "Let me help you." He said as he set them beside the couch where no one would trip on them, "You like to read?" He asked and looked to Aixa.
Aixa stared at him contemplatively. This body he was in – it was, simply, a very good mask. His true form was just a ball of energy. It was how they granted wishes, and it was how they could manipulate reality. He decided not to mention this to Leo. He seemed a bit like a scientist, and he rather didn't want to be poked and prodded. It happened to him on various occasions, when his Owner asked about how he could do those things. He gave them a half-hearted reply, and then he tried to find various ways to get out of the contract. He wasn't like many Jinn. He knew that after a contract was broken, he was supposed to kill the Owner. But he didn't, only wiped their memories.
Well, except for Charlemagne.
“Let me help you,” Leo said, putting the books beside the couch. Aixa smiled a little, pushing the books off the couch without much thought. Once they had cleared off the couch, he sat on the couch, cross-legged. “You like to read?”
Aixa stared at the books around them, then looked back at Leo with a quirked eyebrow. “Yeah, a little,” he grinned. “Especially astronomy books. Ever since I was little I used to watch the sky. It must be beautiful up there,” Aixa said quietly, looking at his hands in his lap. A pale blue color surrounded him, and moved to Leo. After it had enveloped Leo, the energy moved over to the kitchen sink, releasing the water it contained. “Now we're dry,” Aixa chirped, feigning cheerfulness.

The Time Lord looked at Aixa then at the sink then back at the man, "That was interesting." He said with a smile. Then he sat down onto the couch.
“What brings you here, Leo?”
The Time Lord was stumped, "To be honest I do not know. My ship takes me anywhere she wants, if it brings me here it means there is a major threat or I am due to regenerate.. sometimes both. Since I first came here I accepted this planet as home.." He blinked, "But.. that does not really mean much, I am not sure why I am back here." The Nomad said.
Aixa nodded; he was glad the Time Lord had taken it well. Sometimes when he showed off to other species, they took it a little less kindly. But that’s what he deserved for flaunting his energy in the first place. He pulled up his knees, hugging them and watching the Time Lord. “Thanks,” he said politely, smiling. “What can your species do? They must be able to do very interesting things,” he pressed, scooting a little closer to Leo. “I’ve never met a Time Lord. I have met a werewolf, though. We went out once or twice,” he rambled.
“My ship takes me anywhere she wants, if it brings me ere it means there is a major threat or I am due to regenerate…”
“Regenerate?” Aixa asked, leaning towards Leo again. “What is that?” he asked curiously. Aixa was a Djinn, and the myths about how the Jinn were hungry for knowledge was not far from the truth. It was the reason he read so much – he wanted to know and to understand.
He tucked a piece of hair behind his ears. “So, you don’t come from Earth. What is life like? Outside of Earth, I mean. I’ve only met Earthling non-humans. Have you met very many creatures? Were they all Carbon-based life forms? They all needed water to survive?”
“What can your species do? They must be able to do very interesting things,” Aixa pressed as he scooted closer to Leo.
That was when he said, “My ship takes me anywhere she wants, if it brings me ere it means there is a major threat or I am due to regenerate…”
Then the Djinn looked to the Time Lord, “Regenerate?” Aixa asked, leaning towards Leo again. “What is that?” he asked curiously.
The Nomad looked to Aixa, "Regeneration is where I am dying or killed.. my body repairs itself.. more like getting a new body really." He said, "It is not painless though... at least what I know of.. this will be my first." He was not looking forward to it one bit, he hoped that this was a false alarm and that he will not not be regenerating during this visit.
“So, you don’t come from Earth. What is life like? Outside of Earth, I mean. I’ve only met Earthling non-humans. Have you met very many creatures? Were they all Carbon-based life forms? They all needed water to survive?”
The Time Lord laughed, "Uh.. lets say that not everyone out there is exactly friendly." He answered, "Lots of carbon based life forms.. But none have traveled with me."
Aixa listened closely to Leo’s explanation. “That’s fascinating,” he said. “So it’s like sea stars growing new limbs? Although much more… intense. If your overall appearance changes, then it goes to the DNA level and mutates the proteins there. Is there much of a difference between Time Lord and human DNA? I would suspect there would be,” Aixa gushed, taking Leo’s hands and examining him. “You are absolutely remarkable,” he said quietly, looking up at Leo to make sure the Time Lord didn’t think he was being insincere and planning any dissections.
He put Leo’s hand down and put his own in his lap, looking down at his hands. “I hope you don’t regenerate either. Especially if it is painful,” he said, frowning at Leo. “I know only a little of what you feel. During King Solomon’s days, the Jinn were forced into labor. Sometimes he would take a Djinn and try to separate it from its Lamp. It… it would be very painful. It’s a good way to kill one of us,” Aixa said quietly. He didn’t bother adding that being attached to a Lamp hurt even more – but at least the Jinn survived the process.
“Most Djinn aren’t friendly,” Aixa replied thoughtfully. “There are different levels of us. I’m on the lower end. I’m still really young, but I know I’m not going to get much more powerful,” Aixa shrugged, scratching his neck sheepishly.
But none have traveled with me.
That was an option? Aixa stared at the man wonderingly. “Well,” he said, stamping out his own hopes before the Time Lord had a chance to do it for him, “I’m sure you’ll find someone to keep you company, Leo.”

"I guess you can say so, although more complicated." He answered, then listened as Djinn blabbered on some science stuff, "Um.. not sure, although there are human and Time Lord hybrids I am not sure if they are fertile though." He answered. Then the man grabbed his hand and commented that he was remarkable. The Time Lord hoped that he was not planning on turning him in and being dissected on, a shiver ran down his spine at the thought.
He put Leo’s hand down and put his own in his lap, looking down at his hands. “I hope you don’t regenerate either. He didn’t bother adding that being attached to a Lamp hurt even more – but at least the Jinn survived the process.
"That is horrible.. King Solomon? Was he a jerk king or was he somewhere in between? I never met him so I would not know.. most of my travels have been alien worlds.. not much on Earth besides an event in 2012 and on the Titanic." He looked down then cleared his throat, "We will find out soon if I regenerate." He said.
“Most Djinn aren’t friendly,” Aixa replied thoughtfully. “There are different levels of us. I’m on the lower end. I’m still really young, but I know I’m not going to get much more powerful,” Aixa shrugged, scratching his neck sheepishly.
"Well then I must be lucky to have met one that is friendly then huh?" He said with a grin.
“Well,” he said, stamping out his own hopes before the Time Lord had a chance to do it for him, “I’m sure you’ll find someone to keep you company, Leo.”
"Same here..." He squinted, "Would you like to see my ship by any chance?" He asked looking to the Djinn.
Aixa stared at him, eyes wide and fascinated. “That’s amazing. So you and a human have the same number of chromosomes at least,” he reasoned. He noticed the flicker of fear on the man’s face, and Aixa looked down, ashamed he had made the nice man afraid. “I wouldn’t harm you,” Aixa told him sincerely. “And I don’t mean to make you feel like… an alien, if you’ll excuse the term. I was just curious. I was rude,” he apologized, a frown on his lips. He hated when humans asked him questions about his species – he hated the question of whether or not he was actually ‘a man’ or how the Jinn got their energy.
And he had harassed the Nomad like that. Well, way to go. “You’re like… like a beautiful flower!” Aixa said, flailing his arms out to prove his point. “And we all like to look at flowers and appreciate their beauty and their scientific ways – like those flowers who look like female bees to attract them and spread their pollen,” he rambled, in a full-on ramble that nothing could stop, not even his mounting horror at spilling out this utter nonsense. “And you never hurt the flower! You just… smell it,” he said, throwing his arms and Leo and hugging the Time Lord.
“But I won’t sniff you.” Aixa replied, pulling away from Leo with a blush on his cheeks. “Sorry about that. I get a little carried away sometimes.”
He cleared his throat sheepishly, listening as Leo questioned King Solomon. “Depends on whom you ask,” he admitted. “The humans nearly worship him. He’s one of the wisest kings in their religious books,” he said, with a hint of bitterness in his voice. “But the Jinn hate him. He tricked us into working for him long after he died.” He took a deep breath, listening as the Time Lord said he was on the Titanic. Aixa widened his eyes, listening in awe.
“Oh… I suppose you were lucky,” Aixa said, his blush darkening somewhat. “Stop complimenting me so much,” he mumbled, embarrassed by how easily he had become smitten with the Time Lord. Of course, had been ‘in love’ with Chaucer the moment he saw him, and Aixa had certainly become smitten with others much faster than this. Oliver the Werewolf included.
Would you like to see my ship?
Aixa leapt up, practically buzzing with excess energy. “Oh yes! Please! I would love to!” he said energetically, dancing in place with excitement. Then his excitement dampened. “I can’t go anywhere, though,” he said, his shoulders dropping. “Not that you were offering, but… I can’t leave my Lamp behind. Distance separates us, and it will kill me.” he mumbled.
The Nomad nodded, not that he did not trust the Djinn, "I trust you." He said confidently. The Time Lord had one too many encounters where civilians wanted to turn him in because of what he is.. and well what he tends to do.. not that he always reverts to it. He wondered if he will unleash that side of him in front of Aixa at some point.
The Time Lord laughed, "A flower? Well that is a better comparison that others that I have heard." He admitted. Then the man had his arms around him and was hugging Leo, that the alien mad did not know how to respond, what should he do? He lightly wrapped his arms around Aixa and patted his back, "Good to know."
“But I won’t sniff you.” Aixa replied, pulling away from Leo with a blush on his cheeks. “Sorry about that. I get a little carried away sometimes.”
Leo smiled, "It is alright." He answered.
"Would you like to see my ship?",The Time Lord asked.
The Time Lord smiled, and stood up, "I will take you right now if you would like." He said. Then he felt a emptiness well up at the mention that the Djinn cannot travel with him, "Oh yeah.. do you know where your lamp is?" He asked.
Aixa nodded, because what can you say after someone declares they trust you? ‘Thank you?’ ‘I won’t let you down?’ Nothing felt appropriate and everything felt insincere, so Aixa decided to keep his mouth shut for once. However, although Aixa really did try to remain quiet, he took in a small breath. Then the words flooded. “I trust you, too,” he said, trying not to get carried away with what he was saying. To normal humans it would be fine if he rambled, but he didn’t want this Time Lord thinking he was some sort of defective Djinn. “Thank you.”
The corners of the Djinn’s mouth lifted, and his shoulders relaxed when Leo hugged him back. He nearly swooned, and it took all of his self-control to force himself to pull away from Leo. “I don’t see why someone would call you anything other than something positive,” Aixa told him, frowning a little at the Time Lord. “You’re very kind and you’re very beautiful. What’s there not to love?” he asked, grinning.
“Do you know where your lamp is?”
Aixa swallowed, nodding and not quite looking at Leo. He was aware that the Time Lord didn’t know what sort of contract that he would be bound to if he found the Djinn’s lamp. And it was his job to tell him, but Aixa didn’t want Leo to run off without giving him a chance at all. “Yes… but I’m not allowed to give it to you. You have to find it. I can take you to it and tell you exactly where it is, but I can’t hand it to you,” Aixa replied, carefully watching Leo’s expressions. He sighed and took a few steps closer. “But when you do… I’ll be yours for as long as you’ll have me. You’d be my master, and I would grant you your every wish,” Aixa said, his voice quiet now. He knew that a lot of people didn’t like the idea of ‘owning’ another person, but it was how his species worked.
Genuinely worried now that his chances with Leo were gone, Aixa enveloped the younger in a hug. “Please? I’ll do anything. I’m sorry that you have to do all that and it would be easier if I were human and I’m sorry,” he rambled, distressed.
“I don’t see why someone would call you anything other than something positive,” Aixa told him, frowning a little at the Time Lord. “You’re very kind and you’re very beautiful. What’s there not to love?” he asked.
The Nomad looked to Aixa, should he tell him or not? He swallowed at a lump in his throat, "Uh.. Um.. Right." He answered.
The Time Lord nodded, "Alright.." He prepared to take in as much information as he needed to, "Tell me." He then wondered if he could free the Djinn and give the man freedom. He will have to research into that before asking, he does not want to try and wind up killing the Djinn.

Aixa decided not to question the way that Leo recoiled when the Djinn had asked if there was anything not to love. After all, the Time Lord’s past was the Time Lord’s past. He almost wanted to tell Leo that he could tell Aixa anything he needed, but Aixa knew that that kind of trust was something earned, not given. And maybe eventually Leo would decide to tell him more about his past, but for now he wasn’t. And it wasn’t as though Aixa was telling him everything about his past. He wasn’t telling him about a lot of things.
“Alright.”
If Aixa was excited before, he was practically overflowing with energy. Literally. His fingertips were burning with it, and his ears were buzzing. “Okay!” he said, grabbing Leo’s hand and forcing an umbrella in Leo’s other. “It’s hidden so that people don’t find it very easily,” he explained, hurrying out of his apartment and down the stairs to the exit. He turned sharply, heading down an alley and glancing over his shoulder to make sure Leo was still behind him.
He grinned, dropping to his knees after several more minutes of running. “It’s here,” he said, drawing a circle in the mud. “Just keep digging until you find it. It’s in the shape of a ring.” Aixa brushed his hair out of his face, shivering as his hands sunk deeper into the mud. But soon he would be with a Master who likes him, who called him gorgeous, and maybe he didn’t have a chance with Leo, but the Time Lord still knew what to say to make Aixa feel like something than other a means to an end.
“Thank you,” he said quietly, his pale blue eyes locking on to Leo’s. “I can’t thank you enough.”
