"Hello Detective, guess who." Raya greeted with a smile.
There was a light chuckle on the other end of the phone. "Well, hello there, Raya. I was beginning tho think I scared you off." He was talking rather loudly, trying to be heard over the wail of sirens.
"You want to meet somewhere? It's a tad hectic on my end."
He hadn't honestly expected her to call. He just figured she would take it as a hit to stay out of trouble. But since he had her on the line, why not make use of her talents? After all, Even he, with his photographic memory, didnt notice half of her boobie traps that she had concocted. She could be useful when it came to setting up snares for fugitives on the run. "How's dinner sound? My treat? Second date and all? No hand cuffs, I promise"
There was a light chuckle on the other end of the phone. "Well, hello there, Raya. I was beginning tho think I scared you off." He was talking rather loudly, trying to be heard over the wail of sirens.
"Nah. It'll take a lot more then giving me your number, to scare me off." Raya explained. She was glad he had answered, and the sirens in the background, at least told her that he was outside.
"You want to meet somewhere? It's a tad hectic on my end."
"I can tell," she replied in regards to the noises in the background. "Sure, do you have a place in mind?"
"How's dinner sound? My treat? Second date and all? No hand cuffs, I promise"
She laughed at the promise of no handcuffs. "Alright, sure. Just so you know, it doesn't have to be someplace fancy. Casual works just fine for me."
"I might a place in mind, ever been to Red Robins?" Raya asked, just trying to remember the last time she was there. "They have some really good fries."

"I might a place in mind, ever been to Red Robins?" Raya asked, just trying to remember the last time she was there. "They have some really good fries."
"No, but I'm sure I can find it." He chuckled, The sirens had begun to die down. either the vehicles were leaving, or he was walking away from the noise. "See you around 9 tonight? That's when my shift ends."
He smirked as he hung up his cell, putting it in his pocket. He waved to Will, his partner. He then flagged down a Taxi and headed to the burger joint.
He sat there and waited. Granted he said he wouldnt be there until 9, but he had nothing better to do. Also, he wanted to get a good look at her wrist that he had cuffed.. Something didnt add up and he needed to see that wrist to confirm it.
"No, but I'm sure I can find it." He chuckled, The sirens had begun to die down. either the vehicles were leaving, or he was walking away from the noise. "See you around 9 tonight? That's when my shift ends."
"Sounds like a date." Raya agreed, "I'll see ya there."
She heard that familiar clicking sound, signaling the end of the call. She placed the phone back on it's stand, before heading towards the burger shop. Honestly, she hadn't expected herself to actually miss the detective. He a rather interesting little mystery, that she was determined to solve..
Even if she wasn't really the problem solving type, and more of the cause of quite a few problems.
It didn't take her all that long for her to get to the restaurant. Surprisingly to her, she made it there with a minute to spare. She slipped her brown jacket off, as she walked inside. Revealing her light grey-blue t-shirt.
Raya scouted the restaurant, smiling as she spotted the Detective. She waved at him, before walking over to his table. Placing her jacket on the back of her chair, as she took her seat, across from him.
"I hope you weren't waiting long." She started, hoping that she had gotten the time right.
"I hope you weren't waiting long." She started, hoping that she had gotten the time right.
"Just got here a moment before you" He lied cheerfully. Like an old fashioned Victorian gentleman, he rose from his seat and waited for her to sit, before resuming his seat. He took a quick glance at her wrist and his brow arched only in the slightest. Not a mark there. He knew he had cinched the cuff tight enough that even someone who was double jointed would not have been able to slip from. He knew she hadn't picked the locking mechanism. He would have heard it.
It was part of the reason he just stood there dumbfounded when she cuffed him to the door. The only other explanation was that she had some how made her wrist and hand smaller and slipped out. He was always so meticulous about that.
"So, what are you hungry for? It's on me, tonight"
"Just got here a moment before you" He lied cheerfully. Like an old fashioned Victorian gentleman, he rose from his seat and waited for her to sit, before resuming his seat.
"Ok, good." She replied, smiling at him. "I was a bit worried, that I made you wait for me."
He took a quick glance at her wrist and his brow arched only in the slightest.
Noticing how he arched his brow, made her think something was on his mind. Which made her curious, but she decided to wait a bit before asking.
"So, what are you hungry for? It's on me, tonight"
"Alright, how about the chicken parmasian sandwich, with a Oreo milkshake?" Raya already knew what she wanted, having been here once or twice before. "What are you going to have?"
"Thanks, by the way." She started. "For dinner, the job, and letting me go."
She was twiddling with her thumbs, as she thought about what to say. "So... What's on your mind?"
"Alright, how about the chicken parmasian sandwich, with a Oreo milkshake?" Raya already knew what she wanted, having been here once or twice before. "What are you going to have?"
He browsed the menu curiously as he'd never been here. The only thing that jumped out at him and screamed 'Eat Me' were the fish and chips. How... cliche. With an iced cold sweet tea.. He'd never had one of those before.. Wasn't that a southern american thing? Why not.. might as well try it.
"Thanks, by the way." She started. "For dinner, the job, and letting me go."
"Hmm? Oh. It's no big deal. While your little stunt was elaborate and could have been quite... deadly.. You chose a harmless set of ammo. Just tells me you're a bit impish but wouldn't intentionally hurt anyone."
She was twiddling with her thumbs, as she thought about what to say."So... What's on your mind?"
"Your wrist.." He stated flatly. "Not a mark on it. Not the kind associated with slipping out of a cuff." His eyes met hers, searching for a reaction before he continued.
"I know it was more than tight enough. and I can tell you didnt pick the lock.. so my only logical explanation is that you are a morph, of some fashion or another" He smiled softly at her. trying to reassure her that she didn't need to freak out that he knew. "After dating a Time Lord for two years, not much surprises me anymore."

"Of course, I don't want to hurt anyone." Raya explained, "I just want a bit of fun every so often. However..."
She paused, "I'm not afraid of hurting someone who hurts me first. Unless the odds are against me."
To Raya, her logic was sound, and perhaps it seemed logical to others. She didn't ask, not did she feel like she really had to explain herself.
She was twiddling with her thumbs, as she thought about what to say."So... What's on your mind?"
"Your wrist.." He stated flatly. "Not a mark on it. Not the kind associated with slipping out of a cuff." His eyes met hers, searching for a reaction before he continued.
Raya looked down at her wrist for a split second, then back at him. She waited for him to continue.

Raya was quiet, lost in her thoughts perhaps. She wasn't sure what to say, about him, his explanation, or really anything. Luckily it didn't take long for her to find her voice.
"Sort of... I suppose you're right. Well... Half right." She explained with sigh, then gave him a smile. "Half human. Anyway, that was, I think, the quickest anyone has ever guessed."
"Sort of... I suppose you're right. Well... Half right." She explained with sigh, then gave him a smile. "Half human. Anyway, that was, I think, the quickest anyone has ever guessed."
"Impressive."
"Well dear, to borrow a rather overused phrase... '...when you have eliminated all which is impossible, then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth.' "[/b] he said with a chuckle.. It was part of where he earned the nick name, Sherlock. Not that he was fond of the nick name mind you, but he'd earned it all the same..
He then gently patted her hand, being reassuring. At that moment, the waitered had brought their orders.[/size]

"A Holmes phrase?" Raya asked, "Very nice." She knew the phrase, from the tv series. Hadn't actually had the chance to read the books yet.
She nearly jumped as she felt his hand on top of hers. Instantly, she felt her cheeks heat up, causing her to look away. Just as the waiter brought their food to the table.
After perhaps forty-five minutes, Raya had finished her food. And was thoroughly enjoying her milkshake.
"So, out of curiosity, why did you ask me out?" She asked, quickly adding. "To dinner."
"So, out of curiosity, why did you ask me out?" She asked, quickly adding. "To dinner."
"I thought it would be a nice place to meet. And since we're practically strangers, I thought meeting in a public place would make you a bit more comfortable" He then, oh so discretely moved a bottle of ketchup just out of her reach and smirked at her "And I wasn't keen on another flour bath or being doused in Honey."
He chuckled softly and ran his fingers through his messy short hair. "Now.. about that job offer. You obviously know your way around hacking into surveillance, breaking and entering virtually undetected. And from what I've overheard, you're a bit unpopular with the local roughnecks."

"Personally, crowded places make me a bit nervous." Raya explained, "Too many people you could run into.. Then again, I would be a harder target in a crowd."
She set her milkshake glass back on the table, and smiled at him. "Best day so far."
He chuckled softly and ran his fingers through his messy short hair. "Now.. about that job offer."
"Yea?" Raya asked, waiting for him to continue. As she leaned a little onto the table.
"You obviously know your way around hacking into surveillance, breaking and entering virtually undetected. And from what I've overheard, you're a bit unpopular with the local roughnecks."
"All from lots of trial and error. By the way, you still haven't disabled the remote access node on your cameras." She replied, "I can still see what's his face, the guy who walks around like he thinks he's the prince of wales... Play solitaire on his computer."
"Also, they started it. they were picking on a three legged dog." She explained, sounding a little defensive, "And you didn't mean it that way... Right.. Yeah, unpopular is a bit of an understatement."

"All from lots of trial and error. By the way, you still haven't disabled the remote access node on your cameras." She replied, "I can still see what's his face, the guy who walks around like he thinks he's the prince of wales... Play solitaire on his computer."
Nate stifled a chuckle and held up his cell phone, clicking a few buttons and a screen popped up, the camera she had tagged. There was "The Prince" himself watching cartoons on Youtube. "You're lucky that's the worst you've scene him do. He is of the mind set that because his uncle is in a position of power, He is entitled to do as he pleases. And when anyone threatens to reprimand him threaten to retaliate back claiming he's being unjustly harassed. Sooo, we just let him do as he pleases, and record out data. He believe's the camera is broken."
"Also, they started it. they were picking on a three legged dog." She explained, sounding a little defensive, "And you didn't mean it that way... Right.. Yeah, unpopular is a bit of an understatement."
"It's perfectly understandable." He chuckled at her defensiveness, watching her face. "Your job is going to be simple enough. You just keep doing what you're already doing. You seem quite good at it." He pushed a cellphone and charger cable to her with a smirk "We need someone outside the influence of the police district. Just.. Keep your eyes and ears open for anything out of the ordinary. Anything seems out of place, you call me." He tapped his index finger on the cell phone he had just handed her "Also, if you find yourself in a tight spot.. Call me. I'm not going to send you out there without someone watching your back"
"It's perfectly understandable." He chuckled at her defensiveness, watching her face. "Your job is going to be simple enough. You just keep doing what you're already doing. You seem quite good at it."
"Simple can be fun." She commented, already liking the sound of what she'd have to do. If it kept her entertained, and out of trouble. Then most likely, she'd be happy.
He pushed a cellphone and charger cable to her with a smirk "We need someone outside the influence of the police district."
"And that 'someone' would be me." Oddly enough she was fine with that, almost made her feel like a secret agent. Almost like she was the female version of 007!
"Just.. Keep your eyes and ears open for anything out of the ordinary. Anything seems out of place, you call me." He tapped his index finger on the cell phone he had just handed her "Also, if you find yourself in a tight spot.. Call me. I'm not going to send you out there without someone watching your back"
"Will do." Raya nodded, slipping the cellphone into the front pocket of her jeans. "And you'll call me if you need anything, right?"
She might as well make sure she got all the facts down before she left. Or rather, most of them.
"Will do." Raya nodded, slipping the cellphone into the front pocket of her jeans. "And you'll call me if you need anything, right?"
"That's the plan. Oh.. also. If you need a safe house." He slipped her a piece of paper with an address and an old fashioned brass skeleton key. It was outside of the city. "It's my second home when I need to take my mind off things.. I'm hardly ever there but it's secure and quiet. No one there but the care taker, Mr. Bannon... and a few horses."
He looked down at his own hands for a moment before reaching into his pocket and handing her about 200 quid. "Payment in advance for your help."
He stood leaving his money with the ticket for payment. For a detective, he seemed rather well paid. A flat and a country home with horses, a grounds keeper, and extra money to hand out? There was something he wasn't telling her. Nate offered her a cheerful wink and left the restaurant.
He pulled on his long black trench coat and flipped up the collar to keep off the chill of the wind. He didn't want to admit to it, but he wanted her help finding someone. Someone important.
