"That's the plan. Oh.. also. If you need a safe house." He slipped her a piece of paper with an address and an old fashioned brass skeleton key. It was outside of the city. "It's my second home when I need to take my mind off things.. I'm hardly ever there but it's secure and quiet. No one there but the care taker, Mr. Bannon... and a few horses."
"Alright, if I'm ever in a bit of trouble. I'll stop by." She wasn't about to question it outloud. However, she didn't know many detectives that owned two places. Let alone anyone else that did.
He looked down at his own hands for a moment before reaching into his pocket and handing her about 200 quid. "Payment in advance for your help."
Raya hadn't expected that, and she almost wasn't sure what to do. However, there was that saying about a gifted horse... And it's mouth? She's figure it out eventually, she thought as she accepted the payment. Making sure to tuck all three things into another pocket.
"Thanks again, Detective." Raya thanked him, not entirely sure what else to say, as he got up and put his trench coat on.
She blushed slightly as he winked at her, a smile growing on her face. She waited until he left, then put her own coat on and headed out herself. There was no doubt in her mind, she rather liked this man. As for how much she liked him, well... She wasn't quite sure on that bit.
It didn't take long to get back to her home, underground bunker, thing. As Raya called it anyway. There was just so many rooms and passages, and she really had no idea what to call it. So bunker it was, and to Raya it was home sweet home.

It was a good week before Nathaniel called, mainly to check up on the spritly redhead and see how she was doing. The call came one late afternoon. "Raya! Had an idea. Ever been to a violinist concert?"
He chuckled mainly to himself "Well, I received a curious pair of tickets in my letter box last night. Addressed to myself plus one guest. There was no sender information. I have to admit I'm a tad bit curious. And I can think of no one better to explore this venture with than you. Do you have an evening gown?"
Raya was wiggling a long bit of string in front of a orange, and brown, speckled calico kitten. Who at the moment seemed more interested in staring intently at the wall, then playing with the string.
She sighed, giving up for the moment, as she got off her bed and placed the string on the desk. When the sound of the Nyan cat theme played from within her desk drawer.
It only took a couple seconds for her to get said phone, and answer it. "'Ello?"
"Raya! Had an idea. Ever been to a violinist concert?"
As if instantly, a smile grew on her face as she heard the detective's voice. "Can't say I have, to be honest."

"I know where I can get one." She replied, as she thought of a friend of hers, who owed her a small favor. Then she asked, "What time is the concert?"

"Brilliant! It's at a local opera house, starting at 9:pm. I say we show around 8 to make sure we have enough time to get in.." there was a pause on the phone as some papers seemed to rustle. "According to these tickets, we have a rather prestigious seat. Center Balcony."
Nate couldnt help but wonder who had sent these tickets. He didnt exactly have friends, none close enough to consider buying expensive tickets for him..
"Where will you be staying? I can pick you up and we can arrive together if you like?"

"Wow, fancy." Raya commented, as she looked around for her friend, Marisa's address. After all, that girl kept saying how she was going to get Raya into a proper dress. "You sure someone at your work didn't secretly enter you in some contest?"
She was kidding, however that could've been a possibility.
"Where will you be staying? I can pick you up and we can arrive together if you like?"
She was so glad he couldn't see her face at that moment. As she could already feel her cheeks grow hot. "That sounds good."
Raya mentally kicked herself for just saying that. Then as she looked down at the bit of paper, Marisa had written her address on, she asked. "Do you know where the Wingate apartment complex is? I'll be at apartment 5C."
"So I'll see you around seven-ish, and we'll arrive at eight. Right?"
After confirming the time and place with Raya, he showed up promptly at 7:15 pm outside the apartment complex. He instructed the cabby to wait as he made his way to the apartment. He gently wrapped on the door and waited for her to answer.
When he saw her, he gawked, but only fr a moment as he cleared his throat and took her hands, kissing her knuckles. "You look wonderful." he handed her a white rose corsage to wear around her wrist. He then offered her his arm so he could escort her to the concert.
In the cab he had drinks waiting for them. Bottled coke and sprites.. He wasn't big on fancy wines or that other foolishness. As much as he seemed like a well off detective man, his tastes were simple. A nice tie and an ice cold Coca~Cola.
Once they arrived, he escorted her out of the cab and up the stairs. The made their way of to their balcony where a guard was waiting. The balcony was specifically reserved just for them. Nate arched his brow curiously at this. He showed the guard the tickets and was allowed inside. The balcony easily seated ten comfortably, The had it all to themselves.
When Raya got over to Marisa's apartment, and explained the favor she needed. She honestly did not expect it when Marisa practically pulled her inside, then started to gussy her up. Surprisingly, it only took about thirty minutes to get her in a black dress, along with hair and make-up. (Thanks to Marisa's two roommates...)
Then at 7:15, all four girls heard the knock at the door. And Marisa started ushering Raya to the door, while the other two giggled. Raya told them to shush, as she opened the door.

Raya blushed, stepping out of the apartment and closing the door as a way to drown out the others giggling. "Thank you, Detective. You look pretty wonderful yourself."
Soon, with the white rose corsage around her wrist, and her practically attaching herself o his arm. They were off.
Raya was excited about the sprite in their cab, even if she tried to hide it (unsuccessfully). And then there was the fact, that this man, this detective, her detective (as she liked to say, privately in her mind.) Was taking her to a concert. Could this be any more perfect?
When they arrived, she tried her best not to gawk at how incredible the building was. Also, she was trying really hard not to imagine it cover in something sticky.
Luckily, she was saved from trying to ignore her over active imagination, when the guards showed them where they would be sitting. It was a sight to behold really, as she looked over the balcony. Not at all surprised at how high they were, when she heard Nate make a comment.
"I wonder who went to all this trouble..."
"Perhaps a friend? Or it could be a trap." She gave a couple possibilities, well the ones that first popped into her head.
"What do you think?" Raya asked as she took a seat.

He clicked his tongue absently as he pondered the possibilities. A friend seemed more likely, but he couldn't place who. He smiled to her reassuringly kissing her hand, trying to seem like a proper gent. "I doubt it's a trap. I may be a detective, but I haven't exactly made too many enemies, at least not that I'm aware of."
He smiled and sat back in his seat motioned stirred on the stage. What he thought would have been an orchestra, looked more like a rock band. A young lady with a keyboard, Young man with a bright green electric guitar, another man with a bass guitar, a drummer with his kit, A woman wheeling out an ornate golden harp, and a small troupe with violins, cellos, and other stringed instruments. Nate arched a brow curiously. This isnt exactly what he expected, but he was certainly intrigued. The large group took a moment to test, tune, and adjust their instruments.
Once the disorganized instruments silenced, the lights began to dim, the audience clapping in anticipation. Suddenly a lone violin sweetly pierced the opera house, silencing the audence. It was "The Phantom of the Opera". A young petite woman walked out with her bright purple electric violin. Her hair done up into twisted spiky pigtails.
She looked up directly at Nate and Raya's balcony and winked. Nate squinted, confused. He did not recognize this woman.
Taryn walked out onto the sage, dragging a simple black stage cloak behind her as she gently played the into, her eyes searching for the one face she hoped to see. It had been 11 years since she saw him last. Ah.. There he was.. He was much older but still as hansom as she remembered him. She smiled up at him and the beautiful redhead at his side.
She drew in a deep breath and the band began to follow her lead, turning to the rest of the audience with an impish smile.

"That must be nice." Raya mused, before feeling his lips on her hand. Her cheeks started heating up again. How did he keep doing that to her?!
Did he even know what he was doing?
Luckily she didn't have to ask, seeing as some musicians were entering onto the stage. Followed by a beautiful woman in a long dark cloak, and a purple violin.
Then suddenly, they started playing 'The Phantom Of The Opera.'
It was incredible, amazing, and beautiful, all at the same time. She couldn't help but smile at Nate, and at the performance.
The young woman was the opening act. Several other troupes followed, each with their own original take on classical music and musicals. There were even some original compositions. Each and every one, amazing. Nate's hands began to become sore from clapping.
The concert lasted nearly two hours.
Before the end of the concert, The doorman of the balcony handed them a hand written note that was neatly written "Come backstage after the show! You and your guest are welcome!" and a kissed lipstick mark on the paper.
Nate arched his brow and shook his head and looked over at Raya. As curious as he was, she was his date after all and he wasn't about to drag her all over a concert hall if she didnt want to go.
"What do you think, Raya?" He smiled softly at her

"I don't mind." She smiled back at him, "never been invited backstage before. Could be fun, yeah?"
Raya thought about it, and added, "Could be that whoever invited us backstage, also might have sent you the tickets."
She grinned, as she asked. "What do you think? A possibility?" Just as she slipped her arms around one of his, all eager to see who invited Nate, and herself, here.

Nate grinned down at her. He couldn't help it. He was very much starting to like this girl. As her arm slipped into his, he gently rested his hand upon hers with his other hand and walked with her down the stairs, making light conversation with her, asking what she thought of the show.
After weaving through the departing crowd, making their way through different bands packing their equipment, he came to the door with the name "Taryn Oleska".. Nate arched his brow. The name sounded familiar but he couldn't place it. He knocked gently on the door awaiting someone to answer and smiled down and Raya.

"I think this is the most fun, I've had in awhile." Raya replied, "With another person, I mean. And the concert was incredible. Thanks again."
It didn't take long for them to get where they were needed.. So to speak.
Raya studied the sign with a lady's name on it. "Taryn Oleska?" Raya hadn't realized she read the name plate outloud. "Sorry." Raya apologized quietly.

He looked down at her with a soft chuckle, shaking his head "Nothing to be sorry about. I'm just as curious as you are.". He waited a moment, waiting for someone to answer.. when no reply came, he knocked again, a little harder. He clicked his tongue, almost seeming impatient for a moment, looking down at Raya with a soft smile.
