Chadirra sat on a crate in the alley eating her fish and chips that she got from the shop, well that some people left behind at their table when she thought the couple was done eating. She had no money to get any food, or anything so when she was tired she will shift into one of her penguin forms and hide in a cave somewhere off shore, although shifting took a lot of energy and was painful to do. She spotted a strange man walking past, towards the docks, perhaps he was getting some food?
Finishing what little there was of the fish and chips, she discarded the bag and started following him, not wanting to be spotted, she went down another alley and followed him that way, along the way she at some point shifted to her Gentoo Penguin form and waddled to the dock by the fish and chips shop and dove into the water with a small splash.
A child laughed and pointed at her, "Look mommy a penguin!" As he was pulled away from the water. Chadirra swam under the dock and waited for people to stop looking before popping her head up and out of the water for some air.
The penguin looked to the funny dressed man with interest, he did not seem to be interested in the food, what was he looking at? Was he looking at her? She was not sure.
The doctor was leaning against the wooden rail of the dock looking curiously at the little penguin with a smile on his lips.. He rather liked the adorable flightless birds. There was just something about them. A mischievous adorableness he couldn't resist. He dropped down to one knee and offered out his hand, trying to coax the little one closer. The salty sea air blew his hair back out of his face, he smiled at the slight spray of the water.
He had a bit of bread left in his pockets from feeding gulls earlier. He reached into his pocket, crumbling it slightly and offered it to the little bird, speaking reassuringly "Come on, luv. I dont bite.", clicking his tongue trying to be encouraging and making a poor attempt to mimic penguin clicks.

Chadirra looked at the man curiously, tilting her head to the side, then realized that she needed air and brought her head out of the water. Yeah he was smiling but how can she trust him? Maybe he was here to take her back to the zoo, she did not want to wind up back there. She backed away some from the man.

She tilted her head as the man reached into his pocket, something was in his hands, but then she was not interested in that, she was interested in the man. She got a little closer with each passing minute until she was within easy reach of him, she cooed quietly as Chadirra studied him, tilting her head to each side. Not satisfied she swam up to the edge of the dock and clambered on top and faced him, trying to get a better look at him.

The Doctor held still not wanting to frighten was he figured was just a wild penguin enjoying a leisurely swim. He tilted his head curiously to the side as he watched the lovely little bird. He found himself thinking back on a previous life when a rather playful Whifferdill was his companion. Oh how he missed that cheeky fellow and his penguin form. Frobisher is most likely where his fondness for Penguins from. It was still a little hazy but, he wasn't about o deny his admiration of the little birds.
His smile broadened as the bird cautiously stepped closer. "That's it. I'm not going to hurt you" he said softly. His hand reached slowly to his waist coat and his thumb found his fob watch, tracing the edge of it absently as he excitedly anticipated being able to possibly pet the bird.

The little penguin flapped her little flippers as she got closer, seeing that he absolutely meant no harm to the shape shifter made her much more comfortable around him and far more confident. She looked at his fob watch and tilted her head then looked up at the Time Lord. She looked behind her to a police officer then back at the man in front of her, he little feet made pitter patter sounds as she walked around to the other side of the man as though she was trying to hide from the police officer. Snuggling up to the man's legs.
Looking around from behind she looked at the police officer who seemed to have lost interest and came out of hiding, looking up at the man, chirping and flapping her flippers tugged at the man's trouser sleeve.

The Doctor beamed excitedly as the little penguin came to had behind his leg, just inside the fold of his frock coat. She was just too adorable. He studied her for a moment, as she seemed to be checking if the coast was clear. She was a rather cautious bird, wasn't she? Once she began to tug at the hem of his trouser, he reached down slowly, not wanting to startle her and gently reached under her beak, and gently pressed his fingers against her soft feathery throat and a gentle scritch under her chin. "See now? You're a clever bird aren't you."
He suddenly wished he had something else to offer her besides bread crumbs since she didn't seem interested in them in the slightest.

The penguin cooed as he scratched at her neck, flapping her flippers slowly, when he pulled his hand away she tilted her head as Chadirra looked at The Doctor. Then looked behind her as a man approached, "Oi this bird has to go back to the zoo." He said.
The shape shifter moved to hide under the Time Lord's coat as if to say, 'no he is my master.' as she looked up at the zoo official.

He glanced over his shoulder at the sudden voice and stood reaching into the folds of his frock coat and produced his psychic paper. It appeared as a licence of ownership of the penguin. "Oh, I'm terribly sorry, sir! She's a dear pet of mine. Sorry for the confusion. Is a penguin missing from one of your enclosures? That's unfortunate! I'm rather fond of the little birds... "
He stooped down to gently pet her again, hoping the smart little bird would follow his lead. He couldn't place his finger on it, but he could tell she was no ordinary penguin. An extraordinarily intelligent bird. "Isn't that right, love?" He cooed down to the little bird with a smile

The man looked at the paper and saw that the man had a license to own the bird, "Alright.. uh.. sorry about that. Yeah this one is an escape artist and somehow walked out of the zoo.. strangely she was found just in this bay here three months ago." He handed the Time Lord a call, "Will you give me a call if you happen to see the penguin?" He asked, looking down at the bird who just hid that much more behind the Doctor.

The bird came out of hiding and allowed the Time Lord to pet her, cooing quietly, waddling closer to him, almost hugging his leg.
The zoo official smiled, "Well I can see she loves you.. I will leave you two alone now." With a tip of his hat the man was off.
Chadirra looked up at the Time Lord, flapping her flippers, she was talking to him, but of course even to the man's ears they came as a series of squawks, coos and squeaks.

The Doctor smiled down to her, leaning down to run his fingers along her head and under her chin in an affectionate pet. He replied softly "You're quite welcome". He didnt understand her, but he figured in her own way that's what the soft chirping was all about. He glanced over to a clock in a shop window and blinked at it for a moment. "Oh my.. Is.. Is that the time??" He glanced down at the little penguin and chuckled "Well, I'm afraid I must be off.. "..
He began to walk away and stopped to look at her.. he wasn't 100% certain but he suspected she could understand him. "we're welcome to come along.. Plenty of room!" he motioned his arm to a blue Public Police Call box near the end of the dock walk way.

Chadirra tilted her head, making some sad sounds as he said that he had to leave... but they just met! And she liked him! And now he had to leave? She grabbed at his trouser sleeve and tried to pull him in another direction, but of course with her small size she was not going to be dragging him any where. And she cannot exactly change to her King Penguin form either.. not with humans around.

She let go of his trouser sleeve and looked up at him, blinking a couple times she looked over at the police box he was talking about then back at him, with a coo she bobbed her head to saw yes. She quickly waddled to a crate, going behind it she pulled out with her beak a penguin backpack that she carries around with her when in her King or human form. She looked to the Time Lord and wondered if he was watching her the whole time, then titled her head before dragging her bag the rest of the way.

He let out a soft laugh as he watched the little penguin try to drag a backpack that was nearly as big as she was. He stopped and stooped down to her height and offered his hand, offering to take the adorable bag and carry it for her.

Chadirra looked up at the Doctor then willingly allowed him to help her with the bag, dropping it in front of him, kind of like a dog dropping its tennis ball at her master's feet. Then waited for a moment before following him to the TARDIS, her flippers held out far from her body, she made sure she was well close enough to him where it looked like he was her master. She stood between him and the telephone box as she waited for him to open the door.
The Doctor chuckled softly at the little bird as she waited patiently as he fumbled through pockets looking for that one key. "Ah! There's the little devil!" he explaimed as he finally fished the brassy key from his waist coat pocket. He unlocked the door to the TARDIS and gently pushed the door open and held the door open for her.
"There you go. Home sweet home!" He beamed warmly, looking down the walk path towards the console. This version of the TARDIS looked more like an old cozy Victorian mansion. To their right was a wall of books, an old fashioned record player and a lovely chaise chair with a foot stool. A book resting on the side table, 'The Time Machine' by H.G. Wells. His Tardis
He gently placed her adorable penguin backpack along side the door, leaving it as easy access for her should she need it. He smiled and headed towards a kitchen nook and waved her over and smiled "Anything you like, just help yourself!" he chirped. He stooped down to one knee once more an held out his hand, offering to give her head and chin another reassuring rub.

The shape shifter tilted her head curiously, if people could not see it.. why lock it? Maybe to keep other Time Lords out, she thought as Chadirra watched him push the door open and looked in side.

The Penguin hopped inside the door and followed The Doctor into the TARDIS, looking around she accidentally bumped into the side of a book shelf. Shaking her head she flip flopped over to the Time Lord, looking up she saw he was wanting to pet her again. She made some purring, coo sound as she rested her chin onto his hand. She was starting to feel tired, perhaps she should look for a place to rest.. maybe even change to her human form.
