Clementine was, according to her foster parents, not supposed to go out and walk along a busy street alone. But, being the bored, curious 10 year old every child has inside them, she ignored this pointedly and that was why she was walking around London, with a backpack over her shoulders and skipping along under the London Eye. She twirled round and then stopped to take in her surroundings. London was rather beautiful and...well, enthralling, now that she was alone and could take as long as she liked to look around. Clementine began to wander again aimlessly, away from the London eye, eventually finding herself at Big Ben. She looked up at it in wonder, wondering how tall it was exactly. She looked round just in time to see a car veering towards her, and Clementine quickly leaped out of the way, so that the obviously drunk driver could continue wobbling along the road. Clementine tutted. "Stupid men." she muttered to herself, turning back to Big Ben.

The Doctor was wandering around London, enjoying the sights. Well, trying to anyway. He was finding himself very bored. Until he noticed a little girl, about nine or ten; with no parents, no older sibling, and walking into traffic. Well, that wasn't a good thing.
He ran his way over to her, getting there just in time to see her narrowly miss being hit by some drunken idiot behind the wheel. Reacting quickly, so the little girl wouldn't get hit by anyone else. He pulled her out of the busy street. Sighing as they both just missed getting hit by a rather large truck.
The Doctor ran a hand through his messy brown hair, grinning at the little girl. "You a'right?"
Clementine gasped a bit as someone pulled her out of the road, but when she saw it was a guy that somehow didn't look like a kidnapper, she relaxed.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks for that." she said, with a smile. "I'm Clementine, by the way." she said, brushing her hair behind her ear in a slight confidence.
She had no idea why, but something about this guy was instantly leading her to trust him.
"The Doctor..." Clementine nodded. "Very nice to meet you too, Doctor." then he asked about her parents, and Clementine paused, unsure, before sighing and folding her arms.
"My mum's dead, my dad's in prison, and my foster parents don't give a damn where I go, really. They don't like me, much. I don't really like them, either, but I have nowhere else to go, so.." she shrugged.
"Are you on your own, too? Like, no companion or anything, to help you save little girls out of a road?'' she asked, looking around in case she'd missed something.

"Well that's not right, now is it?" The Doctor said, running his fingers through his hair. His eyes dashing around, "Clementine..." The Doctor paused, a smile growing on his face as he looked at little Clementine.
"I don't think I've ever met a Clementine before today. Well... Maybe." Another pause as he clicked in tongue against his teeth in thought. "Oh! Do you know what the date is?"
"Are you on your own, too? Like, no companion or anything, to help you save little girls out of a road?'' she asked, looking around in case she'd missed something.
And here came the tough questions that he really didn't like answering, but he did all the same.
The Doctor sniffed as he quickly thought of his answer. "I use to. Have a companion, I mean. Just not anymore." He scratched at the nap of his neck, letting his hand drop as he continued.
Suddenly a realization popped into his head, causing him to raise an eyebrow at the young girl. "Hang on, you said companion." a quick pause. "Why did you say companion? Why not friend? Why not family?"

Clementine nodded proudly. "Well, now you have!" she said with a bright smile, then she nodded. "It's March 18th, 2012." she said smartly. "How can you not have known that? Are you drunk?" she asked wearily.
"I use to. Have a companion, I mean. Just not anymore."
Clementine nodded thoughtfully. "Well, maybe you should get a new one. It might be better than being lonely, which you may or may not be." she said. She was feeling all too smart lately.
"Hang on, you said companion." a quick pause. "Why did you say companion? Why not friend? Why not family?"
"Oh, it's a new word I learned the other day. You're old, you probably don't have much family, and, well, a companion is a friend, isn't it?" Clementine said. She wasn't trying to be rude or upsetting, she was just a bit straightforward for a 10 year old little girl.

"I'm not drunk! Alcohol doesn't really effect me." He explained, "I just forgot what the date was. Don't really have a calendar..."
Clementine nodded thoughtfully. "Well, maybe you should get a new one. It might be better than being lonely, which you may or may not be." she said. She was feeling all too smart lately.
"Well aren't you a clever little thing." The Doctor mused, smiling at little Clementine. "That's the problem, it's hard to find a companion that sticks around for awhile. Well, eventually they all leave..."

"Oi! I am not old!" He argued, sounding rather childish. "Not that old anyway." Finally with a sigh, he comtemplated something. "Want some ice cream? I haven't had some in awhile, and there's a little ice cream shop right over there."
Clementine giggled. "Well, aren't you lucky?" she grinned. "I don't have a calender either, but I'm smart." she teased.
"Well....if I were your companion I'd stick around. You seem a really nice person." she said. "And you saved my life, too." she said.
"Oh...are you sure you aren't old?" she teased, then she nodded happily. "Sure, I'd love some ice cream! I have money, I'll get it for both of us." Clementine took his hand, leading him over to the ice cream shop.
The Doctor smirked as she made mention that she didnt have a calendar either "Yes, You're a very clever girl, indeed, Clementine!" still slightly put off that she'd called him old.
When she said if she was his companion that she'd stick around. He wasn't sure if that would be a good idea. As far as he could remember, he never had a child as a companion. And he wasn't certain that was the best idea. So he decided to leave it for now.
He smirked when she beamed at the mention of icecream and offered to pay "Oh, I've more than enough.. My treat!" declining the offer to have her pay for the icecream. Where was the fun in that?
"Come on Clem," He urged as he headed to the little shop. "Let's get some icecream."
