The Nomad stumbled around his TARDIS control center, just having finished regenerating.. well the painful part of it, he was working on getting back home to Maria and Magpie. He left them where they were on Earth without telling them that he was just going to suddenly leave them there with no warning. He was very positive that they were angry at his sudden disappearance and abandonment.
His arm around, just below his chest Leo cursed at himself for doing something so reckless to save one human's life, but he had to do it.. but maybe he should have taken Maria and left Magpie.. or brought along both. Wait then what would they have done with Mark? He groaned, as he mumbled to himself under his breath, "Why did I have to be so stupid and stay when the Ambassador left? I could have left as well and would not have regenerated.. But then if I had left Reaper would have probably caught on and went after the Ambassador.." Yet Leo did not know The Reaper did not have a working TARDIS.. His ship jerked, sending the Time Lord to the floor, square on his back. Groaning he got back up, using the central control console as support.
Going to the other side, he looked to the computer screen, it was showing what was outside as Leo landed the ship, it appeared.. his eyes were getting a little blurry... two women and a boy standing there.. on the beach dock? Once he pulled the break down to bring the ship to a stop, then pressed the button to unlock the doors.
The Nomad's legs finally gave out, sending the Time Lord to sitting on the floor, sweaty and exhausted, he saw that the woman was in front of him, what was her name? Maria? What did he call her.. Oh that's right, "M-Maria.. I'm so sorry.." Leo whispered then just drifted off quickly before he could say another word of an apology of what he did to them and of well.. his appearance as they were still bloody.

Oh.. she was going to kill that man.. How Dare he go off on an adventure on his own. He knew darn well, she had been wanting to go on an adventure since Magpie turned old enough to take care of Mark on her own. And what does he do first chance he gets? He comes up with some cunning plan to leave his Wife alone with their two kids, on earth... On some random beach. And she remembered the conversation about it too.
''Hey Angel, ever had a picnic on the beach?"
"Not that I can recall.. Why?"
"Just thought you and the kids would like to have one while I go off on some amazing adventure. Here I'll help you and the kids with the picnic basket."
... Okay so it didn't entirely happen like that, and she might have been screwing with her memories of their conversation, but it sure as well could have been that!
Basically through out the remainder of the picnic, Maria was thinking up several ways her husband was going pay for running off on his adventure. And she was ninety-nine point nine percent sure that he never discussed any sort of adventure with her within the past couple months.
"He better not be getting into trouble.." Maria told her daughter Maggie, as she started to pack up their picnic site. "I sware, your father... He is so grounded when he gets back. How long should it be for?"
After a couple minutes, she could hear Leo's TARDIS, and suddenly she got this instant feeling that something really bad happened. That feeling was immediately confirmed when she stepped into the TARDIS and saw a man laying on the console room floor.
"M-Maria.. I'm so sorry.." Leo whispered then just drifted off quickly before he could say another word of an apology of what he did to them and of well.. his appearance as they were still bloody.
Quickly, handing Mark to Magpie, she said. "Maggie, I'm going to need you to take Mark into the kitchen or his room. Then I'll need your help."
Maria struggled as she tried to keep control of herself.
...
Why did he have to go someplace where he got himself killed?!
She would have to worry about that later, first she had to get her husband to the Zero Room. An involuntary shudder went up her spine as she thought of being in the Zero Room. Normally she preferred to spend as little time in there as possible. However, she didn't have a choice.
"He better not be getting into trouble.." Maria told her daughter Maggie, as she started to pack up their picnic site. "I sware, your father... He is so grounded when he gets back. How long should it be for?"
Maggie hadn't been paying attention at first, she seemed to be lost in a strange day dream as she watched the water roll in and out on the beach. Leo had been on her mind the whole while he'd been gone. She couldn’t put her finger on it, but she was worried. Her dad wasn't a reckless man, but this... This made no sense. He never left them behind. Maria's voice brought her out of her thoughts and she looked blankly at her for a moment “Oh.. Sorry, mum.. No, definitely for a month. It's hardly fair to leave us behind like this”. She reached over to gently touch Mark's nose, playing with him and cooing at him when the TARDIS made a rather ungraceful stop.
When her mum rushed inside, she was close behind. An she she saw the man with the strange face laying there, obviously exhausted and in pain, Maggie froze. It was the same clothes he'd been wearing when he left. It was her dad. She could only faintly whimper under her breath “Daddy...... why?”
Quickly, handing Mark to Magpie, she said. "Maggie, I'm going to need you to take Mark into his room. Then I'll need your help."
She took her brother into her arms, feeling numb. She could only stare at Leo, trying to wrap her brain around his new face.. again. She'd just gotten used to the new face. The new personality. She couldnt help but be a little resentful. He and Mum had all these extra live sitting on the back burner just in case. Yvie didn’t. Well.. She wasn't sure. She could heal from nearly any wound, but that was probably the extent of her ability to regenerate. And her mum and dad seemed so careless with their lives, it was begging to make Magpie bitter. She kissed her brother's forehead and rushed off to put him in his room, setting him into the crib and lifting up the safety bar so he couldn't climb out and hurt himself. “Now, you stay here. I wont be long, okay? We're just going to make sure Daddy's okay. Then we'll finish our book, okay?” She stooped down to pick up one of his stuffed animals, one that used to be hers that she'd lovingly given to him. She always tried to be so calm and collected in front of her brother, trying to be the big mature older sister, but she was finding that very difficult at the moment.
She rushed back out and stood beside Maria, helping her lift him up by taking one of his arms. Mags looked over at her mum with a worried glance.
Maria struggled as she tried to keep control of herself.
...
Why did he have to go someplace where he got himself killed?!
Maria would have to worry about that later, first she had to get her husband to the Zero Room. An involuntary shudder went up her spine as she thought of being in the Zero Room. Normally she preferred to spend as little time in there as possible. However, she didn't have a choice. Mags looked over to Maria as Leo was carried in. “Mum, it's going to be alright. We'll break his knee caps when he wakes up.. deal?” She didn’t really mean that but she was trying to lighten the mood.
Mark laughed as his sister poked at his nose, then went to playing with his shovel and bucket, smacking the shovel on the bucket while laughing. His eyes widened when the TARDIS landed, when it was all quiet he went back to banging the bucket until his mother picked him up, dropping his shovel and went to holding her shirt.
He cooed quietly as Maria handed him to Magpie, stuffing his thumb into his mouth, well his thumb and two fingers. Naturally Mark had no idea what was going on as he was carried into his room, when placed in his crib Mark laid back with the stuffed animal that was handed to him. Biting its nose.
Leo mumbled quietly as Maria and Magpie took him to the zero Room, naturally he would not want to go in there but he had no control over that at the moment.
It must have been hours or days, Leo was not sure. He groaned as the Time Lord put a hand to his forehead to feel a cold, wet rag sitting there, picking it up he looked at it with vision that was blurred at first, but slowly mended itself, "When.. How long have I been out for?" He whispered to himself as Leo sat up to find that he was on a bed. Looking around the room to discover he was in the Zero Room.
Looking to his body he found that his outer, bloodied up clothing was gone, it could only mean that Maria found where he landed the ship.. of course he parked the TARDIS in the exact same spot he took off from. He swung his legs over the side, touching the ice cold floor he put his legs back up, "Great new feet..." Leo wondered if the layout of the ship changed at all, if not he could sneak to the wardrobe.. but what if Maria has to go on a mad search for him again? He could guess she was angry for leaving her and the children on Earth, and then maybe making her go on a search for him was not a good choice.
So he laid back down on the bed, staring at the ceiling, putting the rag back on his forehead,it felt rather good actually, the cool rag against his skin.
Maria smiled at her daughter, laughing a little. She knew she was only trying make something good out of their current situation. It was sweet.
"That might work. However a good slap to the cheek, could work just as well." Maria joked, even if she was feeling very worried.
After all, each regeneration, tended to act differently, different personalities. And if she was going off her brother's regenerations, sometimes crazed, violent, and vicious. Some didn't feel the same way about loved ones they use too.
"Well glad you could finally wake up." Maria told him, not sure how to act at the moment. "You've been out for nearly twenty-four hours."
"Great new feet..."
"New everything... If you want to be technical." Maria explained, as she helped him with the rag on his forehead. "How are you feeling?"
She looked towards Maggie, wondering how she was taking this.
At the moment, Mags couldn't stand to be in the Zero room. She remembered the last time he had regenerated, she had taken it quite badly. No, she was busy tending to her little brother, Mark. She was worried that he might not take well to the situation either. He was only a toddler after all and having a daddy with a new face would probably upset him. So she had spent the last few hours doting on him while Maria was busy tending to Leo.
She had finally managed to put Mark to sleep, laid him in the crib, kissed his forehead, and gently brushed those thick dark curls of hair off his forehead affectionately. She pulled up his blankets, and switched off the light in his room and made her way to the Zero room to see how her dad was doing.
She paused in the doorway, seeing that her dad was up and about. She immediately felt a knot in her stomach as she looked at him. She didnt know what she felt just then. She was a jumble of emotions. She wanted to cry, because the father she had finally gotten used to and came to be so attached to had died. She felt anger because he had gone off and left them behind only to get himself killed... and yet she was relieved because, even though this was a different body, it was still her daddy.
She bit her lip and finally broke down, tears in her eyes and she ran over to throw her arms around him, crying against his shoulder.
Leo looked over to Maria, "Yeah.. new everything.." He put his hands to his hair, it felt as though it was just about the same length of hair that he always had since his fourth regeneration, which was good. Then felt his chin, no beard? Aw man! He loved the beard.. He dropped his hands to his lap and thought about Maria's question, "I am feeling good right now.. hungry.. but good." He said as the Time Lord came to a stand one more time.
She looked towards Maggie, wondering how she was taking this.
He looked to Magpie and caught her as she ran over to him, wrapping his arms around her and she started to cry. Leo could only quietly hold her, it was all his fault to cause the sudden pain and sadness to Maria and Magpie. He left them on the beach and went to 1782 France and got himself killed. Yes it was all on accident but he had to do it. His ship locked him inside and took him away, although in the end he helped the ship get to the destination and well saved who would be President of young America. Sighing quietly he closed his eyes, "I-I'm sorry Magpie.." He said quietly, "I should have been more careful.."
"Yeah.. New everything.." Leo replied as he figured out how much hair was on his head. "I am feeling good right now.. hungry.. but good."
"Oh. Well that's good." Maria started, her tone very calm. Almost like that calm you get just before a raging storm. "That's fantastic, as long as you're good."
She watched as her daughter clung to Leo, listening to the soft sobs. As Leo proceeded to hold Maggie close, he said something that just made that thin thread of patience snap.
"I-I'm sorry Magpie.. I should have been more careful.."
"You don't say..." Maria commented, her tone teetering from frightening calm, to annoyed rage. "You should have been more careful? Really. No.. Really now?"
She took a deep breath, before staring at her husband. If there had been any warning sign that happened to play through Leo's head... This would be it.
"Wrynisimus! Do you have ANY idea how worried we were?? I just!! And you... " motions to Maggie with her hand "And Maggie has been beside herself! I could just.. UUugh! You know what? I don't have words for how upset I am... Maggie, love, could you step away from Daddy for a moment?" She calmly waited for Maggie to take a few steps back...and slapped Leo right across the face.
"What could have possibly been going through your mind?" She asked, placing her hands on her hips. "Honestly! I want to know, because obviously whatever it was. Made itself more important then our family." Maria paused to catch her breath. "And look where it got you, a new face. A new voice. A new... Everything!"
It was right there Maria realized something, he would have a new personality. New feelings... For all she knew Leo might not even want to... To... She didn't want to bring herself to even think about that. "You know what..." Maria continued, "I'm going to go try to start dinner.. Or something."
With that, she left Maggie and Leo alone in the Zero Room. All so she could attempt to make something for Leo. And partly so she could work on calming herself down, without breaking down into tears. Or another fit.

"I-I'm sorry Magpie.. I should have been more careful.." he muttered as she felt his arms coil around her, which only made her choke back another wave of tears. "Oh daddy!" She could feel her tears soaking into the fabric of his shirt and she moved her cheek to rest against where her tears had spilled. her cheeks were so red from crying, those cooling tears were all she could do at the moment to cool her burning cheeks. "You don't say..." her mother rattled angrily. "You should have been more careful? Really. No.. Really now?" Those tearful eyes lifted when she heard her mother suddenly snap at him. She knew she'd been upset and worried, but she had never heard her sound this angry. It almost frightened her.
"Wrynisimus!" and Magpie flinched at hearing her father's given name. She'd never heard it used before and she could feel her stomach tighten with worry. it was the same feeling when either of them called her Yvellyn instead of Magpie. "Do you have ANY idea how worried we were?? I just!! And you... " motions to Maggie with her hand "And Maggie has been beside herself! I could just.. UUugh! You know what? I don't have words for how upset I am... Maggie, love, could you step away from Daddy for a moment?" Maggie hesitated, not wanted to let go of Leo just yet but the smoldering hurt that raged behind her mother's eyes sent chills down her spine. "Mum? It's... It's alright.. He's home now, right?"
She found herself backing against a wall when Maria hauled off and slapped Leo. This display confused her. She'd never seen Maria so upset and suddenly she was torn between comforting Maria and clinging to Leo. When Maria finally finished her rant, a hand went to cover her mouth as she tried not to roll into another bout of tears. She bit her lip sheepishly and looked down at her feet. "Daddy.. I'm sorry... We were so worried." When she looked back up at him and saw the angry hand print Maria had left behind on his cheek. She took a step towards him and placed her petite hand to his cheek. "You... You still love us, right?"
"I-I'm sorry Magpie.. I should have been more careful.."
"You don't say..." Maria commented, her tone teetering from frightening calm, to annoyed rage. "You should have been more careful? Really. No.. Really now?"
Leo kissed the top of Magpie's head gently, he flinched at Maria's sudden change from calm to rage, "Maria..I. I did not-"
"Wrynisimus!"
The Time Lord cringed at the mention of his given name, now he was wishing that he never did leave, or that maybe he could hide somewhere until Maria calmed down or forgot about what happened. Although Maria forgetting about what Leo did, running off and well regenerating, will never happen.
Do you have ANY idea how worried we were?? I just!! And you... " motions to Maggie with her hand "And Maggie has been beside herself! I could just.. UUugh! You know what? I don't have words for how upset I am... Maggie, love, could you step away from Daddy for a moment?
Leo looked to Maria, "Maria I did not know what sort of dangers there were going to be. I did not want to risk watching my family killed." And that was the truth, he did not know what sort of dangers there were going to be in France. And he sure was glad he did when he came across another Time Lord that went by the name of The Reaper. He moved Magpie to the side and looked to Maria again when she slapped him right across the face hard.
"What could have possibly been going through your mind?" She asked, placing her hands on her hips. "Honestly! I want to know, because obviously whatever it was. Made itself more important then our family." Maria paused to catch her breath. "And look where it got you, a new face. A new voice. A new... Everything!"
Leo rubbed at his cheek some and let his hand drop to his hips, "What was I thinking? I was thinking about my families safety! The TARDIS showed me that there was another Time Lord that was about to completely ruin the set time line of a particularly important person.. seeing what he was capable off.. I am glad I did not drag you or the kids with me to France!" Nomad said sternly, "That was all I was thinking of Maria.. safety for you and the children, and yes leaving you lot on the beach was all I could come up with as a distraction." He said quietly, looking down to the floor, not wanting to meet his wife's gaze.
Maria walked out of the Zero Room, glancing at the door and crossed his arms.
"Daddy.. I'm sorry... We were so worried." When she looked back up at him and saw the angry hand print Maria had left behind on his cheek. She took a step towards him and placed her petite hand to his cheek. "You... You still love us, right?"
Leo looked over to Maria, "It's alright sweet heart.. this is all my fault after all.." He gently kissed Magpie's hand and looked down at her, "Of course I still love all of you. With both of my hearts." He wrapped his arms around Magpie, "Where is Mark?" He asked quietly.
"Maria..I. I did not-" Leo tried to start, but Maria interrupted him.
"Wrynisimus!" Maria said, watching as he cringed from hearing his given name. "Do you have ANY idea how worried we were?? I just!! And you..." She motioned to Maggie with her hand, "And Maggie has been beside herself! I could just.. UUugh! You know what? I don't have words for how upset I am..."
"Mum? It's... It's alright.. He's home now, right?"
"Maggie, love, could you step away from Daddy for a moment?" She asked, as Leo tried to explain his reasoning.
"Maria I did not know what sort of dangers there were going to be. I did not want to risk watching my family killed." He explained, as Maggie moved out of the way, allowing Maria to slap him hard across his face.
"That's not your decision, Leo. We're a family. We make these decisions together." Maria paused, before she continued. "What could have possibly been going through your mind?" Her hands now on her hips. "Honestly! I want to know, because obviously whatever it was. Made itself more important then our family."
"What was I thinking?" The question itself was rhetorical, though Maria was sorely tempted to answer it. "I was thinking about my families safety! The TARDIS showed me that there was another Time Lord that was about to completely ruin the set time line of a particularly important person.. seeing what he was capable of.. I am glad I did not drag you or the kids with me to France!" Leo's voice was sharp, and his tone stern. "That was all I was thinking of Maria.. Safety for you and the children, and yes leaving you lot on the beach was all I could come up with as a distraction."
Maria couldn't help but mutter, "And look where it got you, a new face. A new voice. A new..." He had changed so much, and it scared her. It terrified her, the fact that he regenerated, when she could've been there. Perhaps maybe been able to stop whoever killed him, so that he wouldn't have had to regenerate in the first place. "Everything!"
She sighed, not wanting to argue this anymore. "You know what..." She had to pause to think about what she wanted to say, suddenly remembering that Leo said he was hungry. "I'm going to go try to start dinner.. Or something."
She walked out of the Zero Room to head into the kitchen, thinking of what to make. Maria had only just started to make him a PB&J sandwich, when something he said crossed her mind. A Time Lord in France. Surely he didn't mean... No, it couldn't have been the same Time Lord. Right?
Cutting the sandwich into halves, then placing it onto a plate. Maria made her way back to the Zero Room, feeling a little better than a few moments ago. As she walked into the Zero Room, she asked, while handing Leo the sandwich. "What was his name? The Time Lord you had to deal with in France I mean.."

Maggie looked up at Leo with those oddly matched eyes. Every time Leo gut hurt, or in this case, regenerated, Magpie couldn't help but be reminded of when Sevaros nearly killed him, right in front of her eyes. For a moment, she couldn't even bring herself to look at him.
"I'm just glad you're home now, Daddy." she smiled meekly. "It's alright sweet heart.. this is all my fault after all.." He gently kissed Magpie's hand and looked down at her, "Of course I still love all of you. With both of my hearts." He wrapped his arms around Magpie and the girl snuggled warmly into his arms "Where is Mark?" He asked quietly.
"Mark?" she murmured softly against him. "He's asleep in his room. I read him a story and he was asleep before the end of the first chapter" she chuckled quietly. She never knew if it was because Mark found her stories that boring or if her voice was just that soothing to him.
When Maria returned to the zero room, sandwich in hand, she could see the concerned look upon her face. "What was his name? The Time Lord you had to deal with in France I mean.." Magpie let go of Leo reluctantly and looked at Maria. "Mum, is something wrong?"

"Maybe a little later I will give him some attention when he has had a good nap." Leo said, "Hey that means you are a natural mother if he fell asleep." He replied with a warm smile.
When Maria returned to the zero room, sandwich in hand, she could see the concerned look upon her face. "What was his name? The Time Lord you had to deal with in France I mean.." Magpie let go of Leo reluctantly and looked at Maria. "Mum, is something wrong?"
Leo released Magpie and looked to his wife and took the sandwich from her, "Thank you Angel." He said softly.
Seeing the concerned look on Maria's face he could not help but wonder if she somehow did know about The Reaper? He looked to Magpie wondering if he should even say anything in front of her, but Maria looked as though if he did not reply soon that she will be demanding or forcing the name out of him, "The Time Lord went by the name of The Reaper. He was in France and was planning on assassinating Thomas Jefferson.." He then decided to just tell her what happened, thinking that once he told her the name that she will be asking of what happened, "If he killed that man it would have severely messed up the Timeline or worse so I disguised myself as one of Mr.Jefferson's guards and secretly started a rumour that was severe enough to cause the man to leave France due to the French Revolution starting because of the rumour I started." He paused for a moment, "To make it look as though Jefferson was still around, I stayed behind.. and during the tussle I fell back and hit my head and well.. Reaper got me." Leo crossed his arms and was looking down as though he was ashamed, "Maybe if I had not have fallen I would not have been wounded to the point of having to regenerate." He added in quietly.
Maria's mind suddenly tuned out as soon as the name 'The Reaper' came out of her husband's lips. She brought her thumb up to her mouth biting down on the back of the nail. She hadn't heard that name in a long while.
"Maybe if I had not have fallen I would not have been wounded to the point of having to regenerate."
Maria shook her head, looking over Leo's new face. "It wouldn't have mattered if you had fallen or not." She paused, before attempting to explain what she meant. "I mean.. I'm not sure it would have made a difference to be honest.." She stated with a sigh, as she made her way over to the zero room's monitor.
She hadn't expected to hear her old school friend's chosen name. Even though she supposed it really shouldn't have surprised her. Although she was curious as to which version it was, at least she would know where Armand was at in his timeline. Hopefully, at the very least.
"What did he look like? Arm- The Reaper I mean." Maria asked curiously, wishing she hadn't nearly slipped with the name; as she walked back over to Leo, running her fingers through his fluffy hair. "Are you still hungry?" After placing a kiss to Leo's forehead, she looked over at Maggie. "Want a sandwich, or anything?"
