Name: Donna Noble
Alias: The Doctor Donna
Age: 34
Gender: Female
Species: Human / Time Lord Metacrisis
Planet of Origin: Chiswick, London / Earth
Occupation: Well Seasoned Temp. Loyal Companion to The Doctor
Physical Description: This feisty human stands at 5'7” with pale creamy skin, lightly dotted with freckles across her nose, warm and compassionate green eyes framed by soft but thick flaming red hair that falls a little ways past her shoulders. While her hair is usually allowed the hang freely, she occasionally pulls it back into a pony tail or loose bun. She has a thick and voluptuous figure, flattering curves everywhere.
Her wardrobe, while it tends to vary, is usually rather sophisticated. She is fond of dress slacks, dress shirts, and matching blazers. The same could be said about her choice in jewelry, wearing earrings and necklaces that compliment what she wears while not being too 'loud'. And while she certainly has a pair of shoes for any occasion, she is most fond of a pair of mid calf ladies dress boots with a slight heel to them. If she had to choose a favorite color, it would be Purple, so you would most often find her wearing purple in varying shades, whether it's the main color of her outfit or in complimenting jewelry, you can bet there's purple in there somewhere.
Personality: Donna is as stubborn as stubborn gets, with a sharp tongue and a hair trigger temper. At first impression, Donna comes across as unintelligent, brash, and hot tempered. She has a bad habit of missing bigger details because she is often absorbed in other matters. Like being unaware of a Cyberman invasion because she was Scuba Diving in Spain.
But when things quiet down, Donna has an amazingly intelligent side the tends to be overlooked. When she was working as a Temp at a Library, she mastered the Dewey Decimal system in two days. When something does manage to get her interest, she will pour herself into it until she understands it fully. It might not serve her well at the time, but you never know when the things she knows come in handy.
Another part of Donna that is rarely seen is her unwavering compassion. It didn't matter who it was, Donna is the kind of woman who believes in equal rights, including the right to live. Even though the Racnos would have devoured her planet, watching The Doctor drown them broke her heart. They were only babies after all. In The Fires of Pompeii, she begged The Doctor to save someone, anyone. And even though he was a total stranger, she cried when an Ood died in the snow, tearfully suggesting they bury him.
But in the years to come, Donna has the nagging feeling that something is missing from her life. Something huge. And while she is unaware, The Time lord half of her, buried deep in her subconscious, constantly makes hints as to things she should do. Like when she bought a book for her grandfather, Wilfred. She couldn't fathom why, but she felt he needed it.
History: Donna Noble is the daughter Sylvia and Geoff Noble, and granddaughter of Wilfred Mott. Prior to meeting the Doctor, she held down a series of temporary jobs. She had the opportunity to find permanent work as a secretary for a photocopying business, but she chose instead to take a job as a temp secretary at HC Clements, a security company that was in fact a Torchwood front. It was here that she met her future fiancée, Lance Bennett, who was head of Human Resources at the company.
She burst unexpectedly into The Doctor's life by mysteriously appearing in the TARDIS console room wearing her wedding dress. She had made it halfway down the aisle before a mysterious energy teleported her away. Recovering from the shock of being suddenly transplanted from the ceremony, Donna accused the Doctor of having kidnapped her. She was frightened by the prospect of having transported halfway across the galaxy, and demanded that the Doctor return her. The Doctor discovered that Donna was unwittingly a key figure in a plan by the Empress of the Racnoss to waken her dormant children at the center of the Earth, and that Lance was working for the Empress. When she realized this, Donna was heartbroken. A trip back in time to see the creation of the Earth opened her eyes to the enormity of the universe. Donna helped the Doctor defeat the Racnoss, though she was terrified by his callousness. She turned down his offer to join him on his travels, but suggested that he should find someone as he needed to be told when to stop. She decided that she would go out and do something meaningful with her life.
Almost immediately after she bid the Doctor farewell, she regretted it. It wasn't easy to change her life overnight, especially when she still had her own life to lead. Meanwhile, her father's health deteriorated and he passed away. She started investigating strange phenomena in the hope of meeting The Doctor again. She got her chance while investigating sinister goings-on at Adipose Industries. The Doctor was also investigating Adipose and the two eventually joined forces. After helping the Doctor save the day again, Donna set off with the Doctor to journey into time and space...
For Donna's first trip in the TARDIS as his companion, the Doctor attempted to take Donna to ancient Rome, though the pair ended up in Pompeii as "Volcano Day" approached. The Doctor tried to leave, abandoning Pompeii to its fate, though the TARDIS had vanished. Donna challenged why the Doctor couldn't save Pompeii, and he explained that the events were fixed in history. Donna was unwilling to accept this explanation, until the two realized that Vesuvius failing to erupt would lead to the Earth being overrun by the rock-like Pyrovillians. Donna took responsibility, along with the Doctor, for triggering the eruption, being forced to sacrifice the town for the sake of the entire world. Nevertheless, Donna was able to convince the Doctor to save one family trapped in their home. The Doctor and Donna next visited the Ood-sphere, the home of the servile Ood. Donna's moral outrage was piqued when she realized that the Ood were not servants, but slaves. Donna and the Doctor played a major role in the revolution on the Ood-sphere. They discovered that the Ood had a secondary brain that telepathically linked to the hive brain, though Ood Operations removed this and replaced it with the synthetic translator ball.
Donna has met and worked with Martha Jones, the Doctor's previous companion, to investigate the mysterious ATMOS devices which had been linked to a series of deaths. Martha, as UNIT's medical officer, had called the Doctor, and thus also Donna, to assist the investigation. Donna and Martha worked well together and have become friends. When Martha advised that Donna not keep her new life secret from her family, she visited her mother and grandfather, confiding in Wilf about her adventures. However, she quickly went back with the Doctor when the crisis escalated as the Sontarans used the devices to poison the planet. Donna was trapped in the TARDIS when it was teleported on board the Sontaran ship. Despite her terror, she braved the might of the Sontaran army to sneak through the ship and restore the teleport, bringing her safely back to Earth. Donna's fury at the Doctor for attempting to sacrifice himself to stop the Sontarans contrasted strongly with Martha's relief in his return to safety, demonstrating Donna's strident personality.
Donna is one of the few people who can prick at the Doctor's conscience. It was Donna's tough support that helped the Doctor recognize the genetic anomaly Jenny as his daughter. Donna's skills with numbers helped uncover the secrets of a generations-old war in the bowels of the planet Messaline.
Additional medical information: Was born a full Human, but became half Time Lord due to a MetaCrisis. Otherwise, perfectly healthy.
Role Play Sample: “I knooow? Isnt it great? Finally got my own place!... Yeah! I never thought I'd be out of there! Love my mum but Oh God, the nagging!... Yeah, makes me feel like I'm twelve!... Oh I know what you mean... What? Oh yeah. The job's great.. No more temp jobs for me, This might actually stick!” Donna paced in the kitchen of her new home excitedly. For the most part, she ignored the piles of boxes that still needed unpacking, only idly rummaging through to see what was in them. “What?.. No, I haven’t hooked the tellie up yet.. I just moved in, you dimbo!.... What?... Why would I care about that?” She rolled her eyes talking into her cell phone. Her friend was trying to tell her to hook plug in her television and switch to the news. Something about lights in the sky. “Have you been drinking again?”
But her friend kept insisting she needed to turn over to the news. Donna finally let out a sigh. “Fiiiine. Fine.. let me go hook it up..” She plugged the TV into the outlet and uncoiled the coaxial cable wire from the wall to hook up the TV so she could see what her friends was squawking about. “Alright... I'm on the news... what am I lookin' at exactly?” She turned away from the TV honestly not interested at all, thinking her friend was flipping out about some air plane or something. “Yeah yeah, okay.. What ever you say.” As she went back to absently rummaging through her boxes her friend finally snapped at her “Donna, you keep missing the point”. Donna was about to roll her eyes when a strange voice tickled in the back of her head... Strange... and yet so familiar. “That 'Big Picture', Donna.. You keep missing it.” Donna stopped what she was doing and looked around the door way half expecting someone to be in her apartment. “Oy! Someone there?”..
When no reply came, she shook her head and went back to her phone call. “I'm gonna let you go. Got loads of unpacking to do! Yeah.. You too.. And Janice? Lay off the booze, alright?” and she hung up on her.
About two weeks went by after moving in. She used to be Donna Temple-Noble.... But that marriage went south. Nothing Shaun did wrong, really.. Just something always felt like it was missing. Sure, it was a great three years, but.. At least they parted on good terms and still chatted occasionally. But now she was back to being just “Donna Noble”. Something in the back of her mind kept telling her than something big was going to happen and she couldn’t be tied down.
She was on her way to work, hailing down a cab. Yes, she had her own car, but for some reason, Riding in a taxi seemed the logical thing to do today. As she scooted into the seat of the Taxi, she saw the previous rider had left behind a newspaper. She eyed it curiously and picked it up, looking at the front page. There in the picture, the woman reporting the scene was motioning her hand to the sky where a strange glow was shining through the clouds. That's probably what Janice had been raving about last night. She was about to dismiss it when her keen eye caught something in the corner of the picture. It.. looked like an old blue Phone Booth. She touched the image lightly, her brain puzzling over why this Blue Box was so significant. After a moment, she shook her head and folded the news paper and stuffed it into her purse.
Her job was easy enough. She was a full fledged secretary for a Law Firm. Answer phones, schedule appointments, and file paperwork. And calling herself a temp was out of the question as she had been firmly planted at this job for nearly a year now. “Milo and Bush Law Firm, My name is Donna, how can I direct your call?...... Oh, Mr. Anderson is out of his office at the moment, can I leave him a message, Ma'am?... Absolutely. Yes, I'll leave it on his desk. And your name, Ma'am? Dr. Martha Jones-Smith?” Donna went silent.. She knew that name... But from where? After a moment, Donna dismissed the name as possibly a regular client. She was a Doctor, after all, so... sure, that's all it was. “You too, Dr. Smith... You have a lovely day”
The hours dolled on rather uneventfully the rest of the day. As she packed her things to leave for the day, that name and the image of the Blue Box kept pestering her. They weren’t important, so why did they keep pestering her? She stepped out of the office and noticed Mr. Anderson speaking to a woman... Donna froze.. She knew that face, but she couldn't place from where. But the name 'Martha Jones-Smith' and the face seemed to match. As she stared, she noticed that hers and Martha's eyes locked. And Martha had a slight look of Panic on her face as though she also recognized Donna. Martha had, ofcourse, also been sworn to silence by The Doctor, for Donna's safety.
Martha politely excused herself and went to her car. Donna didn't know why, but she ran to the woman and was standing outside her car, a hand on the door. “Please... Please, dont go... I.. Know you, I swear I do... “ Martha seemed to stammer as she avoided eye contact. Martha didn't want to risk Donna remembering and getting herself killed and went to start the engine. But when Martha noticed Donna's tears, she paused before rolling down the window and looking up at Donna. “Donna... Please... You shouldn't be speaking to me. You cant remember.. Please, I have to go” But that's when Donna desperately clutched Martha's arm. With her free hand, she reached into her purse and grabbed the paper clipping and showed it to Martha, her finger pressed on top the image of The Blue Box.. “Martha... Please. Something is wrong.. So much is wrong. I... Parts of my life are missing... I.. Dont care what happens.. I need him” Wait... Him who?? What was she on about? Donna closed her eyes and slowly, the memories began to emerge. A soft glow shone in her green eyes. Her head felt so full and warm. But something was different. It didn’t hurt.. “Donna?? Donna, are you alright? What's wrong?? Talk to me, Donna?”... After a moment, Donna smiled.
With an uncanny understanding, Donna shook her head reassuringly to Martha. “I'm alright.. My body just needed time to adjust to The MetaCrisis. I... I remember... Oh Martha! I remember.... Give me your phone! I need to make a phone call”. Martha just looked at Donna, unsure what to make of the situation before reaching into her pocket and giving Donna her phone. “Who are you calling?”
The phone rang and when she heard the familiar voice she snapped rather angrily “Oy!! You forgot someone, Space Man!!! You have till the count of five to get that Little Blue Box down here or I'll wring your scrawny neck!!”
