Tosh ran down yet another corridor, gasping for breath. Her earpiece beeped. "Tosh, have you found them yet?" Gwen's voice came through. Starting to run again, Tosh replied. "No, Gwen, I haven't. But I think the aliens are after me, I have to be quick!" she said, and with that, she stopped talking and pocketed her earpiece, because it'd be easier for them to track her with that on.
Eventually, Tosh came across a prison of some sort, with a bunch of cells. As she started to look in the cells, she remembered how she had gotten here......
"There are huge energy spikes coming from the center of Cardiff, and I can see on the maps...there's a secret underground tunnel. The aliens must be hiding there." Tosh explained to her friends. Gwen nodded.
"Right, you go after the kids that have been kidnapped, Tosh. We'll try and sort out the aliens." Gwen said.
Tosh nodded as well. "Right, I just have to sort out the necessary equipment." she said, and with that she was off, gathering the things she needed before leaving the hub in a hurry. ____________________________________________________
It had taken Tosh an hour to actually get down here, through the tunnels and into the corridors undetected. She continued walking, looking through the cells until finally she found it; a huge cell with teenagers and kids in.
Tosh went and knelt in front of the cell, making eye contact with the boy closest to the cell door. "It's okay, it's going to be fine. I'm going to get you out of there, okay?'' she said, her voice soft and comforting.
He seemed to be around 18, the eldest of the kids there. He was good-looking in the teenager sense, and, unlike the others, he didn't seem to be scared. Or, not as scared as the rest of them were.
Leon had actually secretly been fidgeting with the lock of the door, trying to be discrete. Last thing he needed as getting a bunch of alien attention as he tried to make a break for it.. He had to smirk, in spite of the situation, sure, they had nixed his satchel which had most of his things in it (he made a mental not that he just had to get it back >n< ) But they had neglected to search him personally.
They most likely didnt think he capable of breaking out of cell that was locked by alien technology. Of course, laying on the thick French accent tended to lower's people's expectations of him.. which always puzzled him. Did everyone think the French were idiots? Or.. Maybe it was the fact he looked like a priest. He wore all black with a white under shirt that looked a little like a collar and his father's rosary.
He had a lock pick set folded into his sock whish was nestled into his boot, and amazingly they didnt bother with his Bowie Knife which was strapped to his other boot hidden by the hem of his black slacks. He poked at the lock, rather fascinated by it's complexity when a woman quietly knelt in front of him on the other side off the bars.
He grinned at her with a coy expression, engacing the crease of the scar in his lip that ran from near his nose, down through the corner of his lips and to his chin on the right side of his mouth. "Ah.. Are you going to be my angel of deliverance, ma chérie?" His accent was an interesting mix of cultures, his enunciation were certainly English, but with the creeping hint of French influence. Until he went into full French, then there was no question about his accent.
Tosh raised her eyebrows at him. She was tempted to ask him if he thought he'd actually be able to pick through the lock, but she shook herself out of it.
Tosh understood some French, and understood what he had said. She chuckled to herself and started attaching a wire of some sort to the bars.
She got up, and took out a remote out of her pocket. The other end of the wire was attached to it. "Okay...stand back." she said. When she was sure they were safely out of the way, she pressed the button on the remote.
The door of the cell exploded open, and the bars fell apart. "Okay, kids, go go go! Down the end of the corridor a man will be waiting to take you home. Try to be quiet, though!" she said. They began obediently going.
As they'd gone, and Tosh was given the heads up that they were out, she began working on a nearby computer. "Ahh, it's deadlocked!" she said, beginning to try and hack into the machinery.
A sudden alarm blaring meant that they knew she was hacking into the system. A slight electrical surge burnt her fingers. "Ow!" Tosh said, pulling her finger back. She didn't notice how badly burnt it was, she was too worried about the lockdown.
Tosh suddenly realized that boy...the 18 year old, he was still there. Tosh whirled round to him."What are you still doing here? You should have gone with the others!" she began. She started pressing desperately at the computer buttons, trying to prevent the lockdown.
Suddenly Tosh realized what she needed and sighed in annoyance. "I need some sort of...small, metal thing that can help me!" she turned to the boy. "Try and find me something! Please." she added.
Leon's brows raised as the woman surged the lock. That was certainly impressive. He'd have to make a point to remember that little trick. As the other youth made a dash for it, he was going to head with but his inner gentleman was telling him to stay with her.
In the brief run in he'd had with his not so hospitable hosts, he'd learned that they were not the kind to be left alone with. Besides, he was a little fascinated with what she was doing. He smirked at her when she mentioned he should have left."Ne soyez pas ridicule. What sort of dashing rogue would I be if I left the lady to fend for herself? Oui?"
He ran his gloved hands through his slicked back hair. But the run of his fingers caused those long bangs to fall on the right side, framing his face. It was a little hard to tell in this light, but those impossibly bright green eyes were simply beaming at her.
When she made mention of the dead lock, he immediately seemed to perk up."Oh.. Those are easy!" He tossed her his lock pick set, full of little slivers of metal "Will those work? Or need something a bit bigger?" He smirked as he drew the Bowie knife out of the sheath in his boot.
She thought about that. Then Tosh smiled despite the situation. "You are a real gentleman aren't you, kiddo?" she said, in a complimenting way. She tried again with the computer. Suddenl he boy spoke again and threw something to her.
Tosh caught the set. "No no, these are perfect!" she said and she began using the set carefully. Eventually the alarm faded and the computer returned to normal. Sighing in relief, Tosh put all of the set back neatly and gave it to the boy.
"What's your name? I didn't catch it." Tosh asked, turning to him and brushing her hair from her face with her hand. That made her look at her burnt finger and wince. It was slightly bleeding and bruised. Tosh put her hand back to her sides, dismissing it.
A gentleman? Only his Papa had ever called him that. Or rather.. His Papa was constantly telling him he should behave like one. He smirked a bit and bowed over, his arm folded across his waist.
Once the deadlock was undone, he noticed the burn on her finger and gently took her hand tsk'ing softly as he looked it over. He suddenly wished he had his satchel because he had a med kit of sorts in there, he could at least have put some ointment on the burn to prevent infection and ease the pain. He really needed to find his satchel regardless. It wasn't his, his Papa only let him borrow it from time to time.
And some very personal items that belonged to his Papa were still in that bag, namely a lock of his mother's hair. He glanced curiously down the corridor, considering his options. He could always return home without it.... No, his papa would skin him alive. Probably literally. His papa had never raised a hand to him, but he was not about to tempt the fates.. or his father's wrath.
His attention was redirected to the woman when she asked about his name "Oh, ouais. Léon Keâts, at your service" He took her hand and kissed it softly, taking care to avoid the rather nasty burn she had acquired. "I'm not much with computers,, as you seem to be. But I can rewire a TARDIS in ten seconds flat. Maybe I could be of some help?" he offered, not even sure if she knew what a TARDIS was or even if he should be telling her that.
Tosh raised her eyebrows a little but let him check her finger over. She grinned a bit at his tsk'ing. She listened, and smiled. "I've never seen a TARDIS before, but I know what they are. You must be a genius if you can do that rewiring."
"I'm Toshiko Sato. But you can call me Tosh. Everyone else does. Pleasure to meet you, Leon. And I'm sure you can be of use. We'll need some rewiring done back at HQ, to get...something working again. It's to do with Time Travel. You reckon you can help Jack out with it?" Tosh asked.
She wasn't aware of the footsteps behind her until something grabbed her arms, twisting them back. Another alien was behind Leon, too, repeating the progress. Tosh kicked out, attempting to free herself.
He smiled and was about to make a comment that's he'd love to help poke about with some wiring. Mechanics was his forte' after all. But when he felt a pair of unwelcome hands on him, he replied rather nonchalantly, "Hold that thought, won't you, ma chérie?"He suddenly slammed his elbow against to side of the alien's head, knocking it off of him. Leon spun around to face it, kicking his leg up to firmly slam the creature in it's chest and knock it back. He then spun back around to face Tosh and her would be captor and with the Bowie knife still in his hand, he tossed it up to flip it, the blade in his hands and threw the blade hard, lodging the blade in between the creature's eyes. It staggered back, letting go of Tosh and fell into a heap on the ground.
He dusted off his shirt, seemingly unaffected by the instance. He walked over, kneeling over the fallen alien and offered a quick prayer, touching his fingertip in the typical cross formation, from his forehead, to his sternum, and from shoulder to shoulder, kissed his rosary and with a quick fluid motion, ripped his blade from the creature's skull. He wiped the blood off onto the creature's clothes to clean the blade before returning it to it's sheath.
"As I was going to say, before we were so rudely interrupted" He smirked at her. "I'd love to be of assistance. But before we go, I have to... reclaim something very precious."
Tosh watched the scene play out, and as soon as the alien was freed from her, she smiled a bit. She waited until he had finished his prayer, before looking him straight in the eye. "Thanks. That was amazing, what you just did."
Tosh nodded. "Of course! I'll help you get it back. If the aliens have confiscated your...precious thing, then it'll be in one of the storage rooms, knowing them. Follow me!" and with that, Tosh set off.
"How old are you, Léon? You're very brave...much braver than the other children." she said after a few moments of silence, thinking.
He could only smirk at her as they hurried through the corridors, he patted his face playfully in reply to her face "I just have a youthful face. But I'm no child." He winked at her as they came to a stop in the hallway. "I'm eighteen, actually"
He noted how collected she seemed to be. She was probably no stranger to alien invasions/abductions. That was a good thing, Trouble tended to follow him and his family.
"What I'm looking for is an old satchel, it's.. um " he chuckled slightly, the description was always a little amusing to him "It has patches and stitching all over in every color you can imagine. It's a very... 'well used' satchel. two generations worth of abuse"
Tosh laughed, and turned a corner. "A youthful face, huh? It's so cute!" she said, giggling. "Ah, 18. I thought that at first. It's a great age, oui?" she said, remembering his French from earlier.
She listened to the description and slapped her forehead. "I remember! I saw it while I was on my way down. It was in..." she paused, and then stopped at a door she had passed on her way to save the kids.
Tosh tried the door and it opened. She checked that it was deserted, drawing her gun just in case, then held it open for Leon. The satchel/bag was visible even from the doorway. "Grab it and let's go!" she whispered.
His face scrunched at first when she said 'cute' but eventually convinced himself that she most likely meant it as a compliment. And he couldnt help but smirk when she said 'Oui' and simply nodded, only needing to maintain a light jog as she ran. Long legs made it easy to keep up.
He offered a coy wink as he darted into the vacant room and took up the satchel, but first and foremost, he opened it to make sure the contents were as they should be. He didn't care about most of them, as long as the Vortex Manipulator and his mother's lock of braided hair were untouched. Fortunately, they were.
He turned to offer that bright grin before walking back up to her and placed the strap of the satchel over his shoulder. He motioned with his arm as he smirked "I follow your lead, ma chérie."
Tosh winked back and smiled. She was about to go but she heard marching from down the street. Wordlessly, she gently steered him back into the storage room, ducking down, gently tugging him down with her.
An alien appeared at the window, but didn't seem to see them as he and his companion moved on. Tosh could hear them grunting to each other as they passed. She turned to Leon and whispered softly, so only he could hear.
"There is no way we can get out of here unless I call for my friends. The aliens will see that I let you kids free, and they'll conduct a search of the whole place. It'd be extremely difficult." she paused. "Though I suppose it isn't impossible."
Leon nodded to her and seemed to ponder her words. Unfortunately, the idea of having a tussle with a few aliens seemed rather exciting to him. He just flashed a bright grin to her and winked one of those bright green eyes. "Aww, come along, ma chérie. What is life without a little adventure, ouais??" He grinned, as he drew a pair of blades from God only knows where. They were matching knives and he placed one in each hand.
He tightened the strap of the satchel so that the bag was closer to him and leaned against the door to listen. There were a few shuffling feet and he smirked at her again. "Want to call for help or do you think you can keep up?"
Tosh's eyebrows shot up, and she watched him draw blades. She raised her eyebrows, hesitated slightly, then she drew her gun. "I reckon I can keep up." she said.
She unlocked the door and opened it.
