Mark laughed as he ran away from some hagfish.. an alien race that like most Time Lords and other alien races that frequently visited Earth. Well Mark chose to stay on Earth anyways since he left his mom and dad five years ago. Now he has just been travelling around the planet, rarely staying in one place or part for more than a couple days. The longest he stayed in one place was a week due to a freakish snow storm, and by the end of the week he was really itching for the chance to leave.
Stopping in an alleyway the young man stopped to catch his breath, he could not help but chuckle here and there as he thought about the trouble he just got into. This was so much better than being stuck in his dad's TARDIS! Mark felt that Nomad was wrong about everything he said about the planet. Yeah there were aliens here and there that will want to kill on site or destroy the planet but other than that, if you are street wise, it was not that bad at all.
Then there was the smell of rain in the air, looking up at the sky the wavy haired man sighed, "Better find some shelter..." He said to himself as Mark pulled the collar of his coat up to shelter his neck. This was one of the few moments that the young Time Lord wished that he had a ship to take shelter in. It was not long before the rain started to pour down as though angels or aliens above were pouring bucket loads of water, "Curses!" Mark exclaimed as he was splashed by a passing car. Looking at the rows of houses to his right he wished that one of them was his.. or at least had owners that were kind enough to offer him shelter until the rain passed.
Hearing footsteps that were rather hurried, Mark looked behind him to see the same Hagfish from before. With no weapons or a screwdriver to disable their weapons, the only choice he had was to make a run for it. Going to a sprint he attempted to make his get away, slipping on the wet pavement here and there, rounding a corner he jumped a fence and hid behind the bush. He estimated as to when he can come out of hiding, looking over the fence he saw that the Hagfish were just at the corner and hunched back down. Taking a quick glance at the house window he could see someone looking out at him, shaking his head, the Time Lord looked back to the Hagfish, as he was more concerned about them than an Earth human that was curious about him.
Sarah Jane was running as fast as she could. Turns out she couldn't drive any further than she already had, so she was running the rest of the way. Those Hagfish...they just didn't understand the 'you can only return if you are peaceful' warning Sarah Jane had given them last time. She was alone, however, today; the kids were having a slumber party and she had insisted she was just going to see an old friend..and made sure that Mr. Smith didn't tell them otherwise, if they asked.
She finally noticed somebody else; they were running from something...Sarah Jane saw that they were Hagfish. Grinning slightly, despite wanting to save the guy, she headed towards where he was; in an alleyway, and there were Hagfish there. Instinct kicking in, Sarah Jane pointed her sonic lipstick at them and pressed the button. For whatever reason, they covered their ears and whimpered, however this only gave her an advantage to block their exit.
"Now then. Hagfish, hmm? I thought I told you; you can't come back if you're not peaceful. And this isn't the most peaceful move, now is it?" she asked, approaching them. They stood up, but didn't make any move to leave. "Now. I give you one last chance. Leave this planet on free will, or I'll make you." she said. She looked round them, making sure they didn't get past.
"What's your name?" Sarah Jane asked the guy the Hagfish had been chasing.
The young man stayed where he was, breathing heavily, and shivering some from the cold, wet air. He looked up again, one of the fish saw him of course because Mark picked the wrong time to glance at the fish. Putting his hands up. Then there was something that caused not just himself to cover his ears, but the Hagfish as well, "What? A sonic device?" He asked himself, not really expecting an answer.
Mark at the woman, "Mark.. Mark Owen ma'am." He said as the would be Time Lord looked cautiously at the Hagfish. Then glancing at her he noticed that she was holding something, did that cause the noise? The young man wondered as he rubbed his ears a little more before dropping his hands.
The Hagfish said something to them before walking off. His shoulders slagging some, he looked to the woman again, "Thank you for the help. I really appreciate it." Mark said with a small embarrassed smile. Of all things he can brave an entire planet, and fight random aliens, but off all things he was running and hiding from Hagfish! Just what would his grandfather and his parents say if he told them that he was playing a game of hide and seek with Hagfish? He could guess that his dad would not be too pleased.
After becoming a little uncomfortable with the silence he looked back to her again, "I'm afraid I never caught your name." Mark finally said.
"Mark Owen, I'll remember that name." Sarah Jane said. As soon as the Hagfish disappeared, Sarah Jane consulted her watch. The readings read that the Hagfish were retreating, so she flipped the watch down. When Mark spoke again, she looked up at him. "Oh! excuse my bad manners. My name is Sarah-Jane Smith. I do this kind of thing all the time."
Her watch beeped again and Sarah Jane flipped it up. It was showing her Mark's heartbeat, seemingly. There were two, meaning that he had two hearts, which meant he must be..."These readings are telling me that you're...a Time Lord?" Sarah Jane said, looking up.
This was, if she was very honest, rather exciting; she'd never met another Time Lord, save from the Doctor, before. Or, at least, not that she remembered. This may turn out to be not only exciting, but also very very interesting.
Mark smiled, "Sarah Jane Smith? That's an interesting name. Not hard to forget either." He said as the man stuffed his hands into his pockets. He did not need to look at her watch to know that the Hagfish were retreating, he already knew that they were as they are not that hard to scare off if you have a good scaring tool like something that is sonic or a gun, "I handle aliens as well.. but this one was just a bit too much to handle alone." He shrugged, "Not that it is a problem.. I have dealt with much worse than Hagfish."
When he heard another set of beeps, he glanced at the watch to see it was pointed at him. So that handy little watch can tell Sarah Jane who the aliens are? Where did she get such a thing?
"These readings are telling me that you're...a Time Lord?" Sarah Jane said, looking up.
Mark nodded, "Yes.. well.. I would be if I went through the initiation. But since there is no planet around that Time Lords come from.." Thinking he was making it sound too complicated he thought up an easier explaination, "I am what you would call a would-be Time Lord." He told Sarah Jane.
So the watch can tell who is an alien and what they are now? Usually gadgets like that cannot pick up a Time Lord, maybe there is something on the planet that communicates with the watch that has the data of alien races?
"Me, too. Hagfish aren't the worst." Sarah Jane agreed, with a little smile. She then nodded. "Yes...I heard about what happened on Galifrey." she said. "I have a friend from there...though I haven't seen him in quite some time." she said, thoughtfully.
"So you didn't go through the initiation...is that because your parents were Time Lords, by any chance? Sorry, I'm really nosy. Comes with being a journalist." Sarah Jane said. "But don't worry; I won't print this story." she joked.
"Tell you what, though...this alley isn't exactly the best place to be talking...what if we went for coffee, or back to my place, or something?" Sarah Jane suggested. "And we can chat some more?" she said, smiling to let him know he was welcome to choose whatever he wanted.

Mark shook his head, "No I did not go through the initiation.. my parents are Time Lords but from what my mom learned from my dad, the planet was destroyed during the war. I know my dad went through the initiation and my mom.. same with my grandpa. Just me and my sister never did." He told Sarah Jane, he did not mind her being nosy, "I do not mind all the questions." He told her with a laugh in response to her joke.
"Tell you what, though...this alley isn't exactly the best place to be talking...what if we went for coffee, or back to my place, or something?" Sarah Jane suggested. "And we can chat some more?" she said, smiling to let him know he was welcome to choose whatever he wanted.
Mark smiled, it was just what he was about to ask, not about going to her place but to a coffee shop or something to get out of the rain, "That sounds lovely Sarah Jane.." He told her, "If we can.. Can we go someplace that is private? I am afraid of someone eavesdropping on us... Especially a certain Time Lord that seems to target me and my sister since my dad did something to him.." The memory caused a chill to run up the young man's spine, getting a shiver in response and tear to roll down his left cheek, "Sorry.. painful memories.." He said, with some shame in his voice.
Sarah Jane smiled. "Well, to me, it doesn't make you any less Time Lord, even if you didn't go through the initiation." she said. "But I am just a clueless human." she pointed out with a slight chuckle. Even though Sarah Jane had met a Time Lord in the past did not mean that she knew much about them, after all, since they were always on adventures, she never got a chance to see them, or even ask him about them. They had always been so busy.
"Okay, my house it is then. You might have to excuse my daughter, though, she's forever asking questions as well, since she's not quite human, and everything interests her. But she knows about alien stuff in general."Sarah Jane said. Making sure Mark was following she began to walk, towards where she parked her car.
Once they were inside the house, Sky instantly came running down the stairs. She paused when she saw Mark, as if she was uncertain, but then she just beamed.
"Hi! I'm Sky, Sky Smith. Nice to meet you." she said sweetly, just as Sarah Jane had taught her. chuckling softly, Sarah Jane turned to Mark. "Do you drink tea or coffee? Or other?"
Sarah Jane smiled. "Well, to me, it doesn't make you any less Time Lord, even if you didn't go through the initiation." she said. "But I am just a clueless human." she pointed out with a slight chuckle.
Mark smiled and gave her a slight bow, "Thank you Ms.Jane.." he straightened himself, it did not mean any difference to her but to others of the Time Lord race.. it did matter at times. He adjusted the collar of his coat to keep the rain from getting him wet underneath his only source of protection from the weather.

Mark nodded, "Oh I am perfectly at home with jumping, over excited children." He told Sarah Jane as he followed her to where she was going, in fact he loved kids. He guessed he either got that personality from his parents or found he loved children when he started exploring Earth, "Does she know about my alien race?" He asked as Mark climbed into the car.

Mark followed Sarah Jane into the house, his ears immediately caught the sound of feet coming down the hallway, looking at the stairs he say a little girl running down the stairs. The young man pulled his hands out of his pocket and dropped them to where the child can see them easily, he found that the easiest way to tell kids that he was no harm to them.
"Hi! I'm Sky, Sky Smith. Nice to meet you." she said sweetly.
Mark smiled at Sky, "Hello. I'm Mark. Mark Owen at your service." He told the child then looked up at Sarah Jane, "Tea would be lovely." He replied.
Sarah Jane had admitted on the way that she didn't think Sky new much about Time Lords, only that Sarah Jane had once traveled with one. As soon as Mark mentioned tea, Sky ran towards the kitchen. "I'll do it!" there was the sound of her putting the kettle on, then she came rushing back out. "Do you have sugar and milk? How many sugars if you do have them?" Sky asked. Sarah Jane chuckled softly. "Sky, calm down! You'll spill the water everywhere if you're not calm, and since it's boiling water, it'll hurt." she said gently, but Sky seemed to wave this off.
