Original
Name: Rin Morisato
Age: Twenty-seven.
Gender: Female.
Species: Human.
Planet of Origin: Earth.
Occupation: Yakuza Mob Boss
Physical Description: Rin is surprisingly tall for a Japanese woman, nearly five foot and eight inches. This lends to her slightly intimidating demeanor. She is slender but not without curves. Her skin is a soft and pale honey complexion, smooth and flawless, save for a Lotus tattoo on her left shoulder. Thick sable eyelashes frame her wide chocolate colored eyes and her hair is ebony black, thick, and smooth as silk. The style of her hair varies. Mostly her hair is long, to the small of her back with bangs cut just below her brows. Some time after her father was arrested, she cut her hair into a short wedge cut, the length gracefully following along her jaw line. This gave her a youthful but much more severe appearance.
Her attire is that of a business woman when dealing in the affairs of the Yakuza. Most often, a black suit with dark charcoal pinstripe and a white blouse framing the collar of the blazer of her suit. She wears heels to intensify her height adding to her slight intimidation factor. In extraordinarily formal occasions, Rin wears a white kimono. But when in the comfort of her own home and in to company of family, her manner of dress is greatly simplified but still elegant. Usually a soft blouse, dress slacks, and sandals.
Personality: Rin comes across as calm and severe, but always polite. She takes her time to consider her words before speaking as words can raise an empire or bring it crashing to it's knees. She prides herself on her give of expression, treating words as the fine spun silk of a spider's web. “Elegant and a wonder to behold, but within their intricate weavings, one can find themselves at the mercy of the spider” Her words can often hold hidden meanings and she can politely speak to someone, most times, without them realizing they have been threatened or insulted. Her words are her greatest weapon.
When it comes to her family, her demeanor changes. While The Casino and her dealings in the Yakuza are of dire importance, her family takes priority. She's a little more free with her words and acts like a typical big sister. She awards her younger sister, Shizu, a certain amount of space, but when concerning her youngest sister, Sumiko, Rin can be a little overprotective, acting more like her mother than her sister. Her family means the world to her. She knows that should anything happened to her, Shizu would be able to survive without her. She is afraid that Sumiko would be left with no one to look after her.
Rin does not trust easily, and does not forgive. It was a trait that was enforced by her father at a young age. Trust must be earned, and it takes a good deal of effort to earn Rin's trust. However, once that trust is broken it can never be regained. And depending one how egregious the breach in trust, most often Rin sends her sister, Shizu, and a Time Lord known as The Reaper to deal with them.
History: From the moment she was able to comprehend the world around her, Rin knew her life was different that that of other children. She was home schooled for the simple fact she was the daughter of a notorious mob boss and her father did not want to endanger her by leaving her in a public school. Her studies not only consisted of academics, but also sword play, piano, and martial arts of various styles. When her mother and father were too busy to tend to her needs, there was a man named Armand who would act as her caretaker at her father's request. She always found his foreign name and accent so mysterious. It was Armand who tutored her in the art of kendo and martial arts. He often remarked to her how much she looked like her mother. She was spoiled and lavished upon being an only child.
But when her mother became pregnant, she noticed the change in her parents attention to her. Rin became annoyed with her sudden 'neglect'. When Rin confronted her mother, demanding to know why she was being treated differently, Her mother explained that she was to bear another child and that Rin would become a sister. Rin did not take the news well. The five year old forcefully struck her mother in her swollen belly in retaliation and stormed away. Her mother ended up in the hospital and when she came home a few days layer, was instructed to be on bed rest the remainder of her pregnancy. Three months later, Shizu came into the world, silent but healthy. Rin was never sure if her actions had caused the baby to be without a voice or not, but she immediately felt responsible.
The first few months with a new baby in the home made Rin feel awkward. All this fuss over something so tiny. When her father placed Shizu into her arms, Rin was upset, at first, wanting nothing to do with the small baby. Until their eyes locked. As she stared at her baby sister, her father explained that no matter who we are and how powerful we become, we are nothing without family. It was a lesson Rin took to heart as she cradled her baby sister.
When her sister began to learn sign language so that she could communicate, Rin took it upon herself to learn with her. As they perfected their communication skills, they began making up their own signs, used only with each other. Simple head nods and the slightest gestures that only they would notice between each other. Rin chose to do this because if there was something she needed to tell her sister in secret from across the room, she didn’t want anyone else who knew sign language to intercept their messages.
Another five years rolled by and her mother had become pregnant again. Her reaction was quite different this time. She was quite elated that she would have another sibling to take under her wing. To this ten year old, the importance of family had been deeply rooted. But when her mother died due to complications in child birth, something in Rin changed. No one is certain if the change was good or bad. But she seemed unaffected by her mother's passing and took her place in raising Sumiko. From diaper changes to nightly feedings, Rin had all but become her mother.
It was probably for the best, because she could sense a great amount of resentment from their father. Rin had often tried to reason with him that mother's death was noth the fault of the child and that he should not take it out on her. She even went so far as to remind her father that without family, he was nothing. But her reasoning fell on deaf ears. Their father simply ignored Sumiko telling rin that she was her responsibility now. Rin accepted this responsibility diligently, even well into adulthood.
Years rolled by, and before long her father began teaching her how to run the casino. She knew that it was only a cover for something deeper but it wasn’t until her father began conditioning her to take his place that she learned just what sort of man her father was. At twelve years old, she began to accompany her father and Armand to meetings withing the casino. She had been sternly instructed to remain silent and only listen while attending these meetings. She didn’t understand them at first but as she accompanied them more and more, she knew he was preparing her for something important.
Other members of the Yakuza protested the child's involvement. Women, while not uncommon in the fold, here still frowned upon. It was her age that upset them. Some one so young couldn't possibly understand the goings on of an underground crime syndicate. But withing a few short years, Rin understood all to well. She was adamant that her youngest sister, Sumiko would not become involved. The Yakuza were dark and villainous and she would not have their corruption mar her sister.
When she turned fifteen, one particular meeting ended in Rin claiming someone's head. A rival mob boss kept making reference to her father's impending down fall and made the frequent jab at insulting his honor. Rin would not stand to have her family's honor tainted by this filth. She snatched a katana from Armand's side and before anyone realized what was happening, Even Armand was dumbfounded, Rin ran across the meeting table and with a flick of her wrist, silently decapitated the man. No one at the table, including her own father dared exhale. Her words were very cold and precise as the warned that that further implications that her father was less than a man of honor would result in the offender sharing a similar fate. Rin was ready to take her father's place.
That was twelve years ago. Rin has since taken over ownership of the casino, risen to a comfortable position in the syndicate and had employed her younger sister, Shizu, to act as her iron clad means to maintaining order within the syndicate and silencing anyone who would otherwise compromise her position withing the Yakuza.
