There came a point in the Shadow's life where he realized he really should be trying to reconnect with his only family left. Sadly, the only family he had left, currently didn't exactly like him. So in an attempt to be closer, he decided it would be best if he popped in on them.
Silas grinned as he exited his TARDIS, he had landed in his son-in-law's ship. He didn't mind the Nomad, in fact he considered him a friend. Only he wasn't about to tell him that, it was much more fun to make him get all worried about screwing something up with his daughter.
"Dad? What are you doing here?" Maria asked, sounding a little shocked.
"Oh you know, just here to meet the kids." He replied with a grin as he handed a small bag filled with soft candies to little Mark. "Hiya, Kiddo. Look how big you've gotten." Silas smiled at the small boy and ruffled his hair.
"Dad... you can't... Why?"
"Why? Cause I like to spoil them." He smiled warmly at his daughter, ignoring the look of despair he was getting from Maria. "Besides I want to before I.. you know.. kick the bucket."
"You're dying?!" He chuckled at the concern in her voice, before waving his hand in dismissal. "No. No.. Not yet anyway. How old is Magpie now? Sixteen, seventeen?"
"Why?" There was suspicion in her tone now.
"I just wanted to take her on a little adventure, and teach a few things. Like I've done with Leo, and you." Silas explained, "However it's up to her if she wants to come or not."
Maria took a moment to think over his idea. Before letting out a sigh, and calling Magpie into the room. Maria then decided to pick up Mark, who had a bit of chocolate, all over his face. "Okay, fine. I'm going to clean up Mark. Maggie dear, meet your grandfather. He wants to discuss... an idea with you." Maria placed a kiss on Maggie's forehead, giving her a light smile before walking off to take care of Mark.
Silas smiled at the young girl, offering his hand to her. "I'm the Shadow, you can call me Silas, or gramps if you want."
Magpie had been goofing off in her room, mostly sketching out designs for a vortex manipulator. She still had no idea how to build one but.. if she could have one of her own, she already knew how she wanted it too look. She wasn't much of a mechanic and physics were kind of lost on her, but anything she read or heard, she was really good about remembering, even if she didn't really understand it. Except French.. She stared, rather annoyed, at the pile of French phrase books by her bed side table.. No matter how hard she tried, French just seemed to be the one language she was destined to never understand.
She went to close her sketchbook and stared up at the ceiling of her room with a bored sigh. She missed her best friend. Well.. rather.. he was her only friend. Since living with Leo on the TARDIS for the last six years, Rio was the first kid she met that was her own age. She wanted to see him again, but Maria would always cryptically tell her that "It's not time yet. It'll happen when it's meant to" Her mother and her creepy ability to know when and how things were supposed to play out. But Maggie figured it was just she was more experienced than she was. Maria was a lot older than she was... a LOT older.
Suddenly, her mother's voice distracted her from her musings.. "Maggie dear" "Yeah, mum?" she called from her room. "Meet your grandfather. He wants to discuss... an idea with you." Maggie blinked at this. She had a grandfather? Maggie hopped off her bed and left her room and rounded a corner, finding where her mother and someone else was. The 'someone else' she could only assume was this 'grandfather' she'd just mentioned. Maria placed a kiss on Maggie's forehead.
Maggie looked up at the man and shifted nervously. For a sixteen year old girl, she still acted like a shy and reclusive ten year old that Leo had first adopted. While she was bright, cheerful, and bold around her parents and little brother, Strangers made her quite nervous. Without meaning to, she stuttered a meek "H-hello" and stared at her feet.
"I'm the Shadow, you can call me Silas, or gramps if you want." She meekly accepted the hand she was offered and offered a shy smile. "Um. I'm.. I'm Magpie" She always introduced herself as Magpie.. after all, Only Rio and her parents were allowed to call her Maggie.
"H-hello." A short dark haired multi-colored eye girl greeted. Her stuttered reminded him when his own daughter was little. To say in the least, it was rather adorable.
He held his hand out to her, "I'm the Shadow, you can call me Silas," He smiled kindly at her as she placed her hand in his. He brought her hand to his lips, kissing the knuckles, and gently patting the back of her hand. "Or Gramps, if you want."
"Um... I'm.. I'm Magpie." she told him. That was a curious name, Magpie.
"Magpie. Those birds are quite fascinating, have you ever seen one?" Silas asked, keeping his tone soft. He wanted her to feel comfortable with him, after all. "I wanted to know if you wanted to go on a bit of an adventure, or two. Maybe three."
He rolled his shoulders back, in an attempt to ease some of the tension. He hadn't realized how stiff his muscles were until now. Apparently, he had been a bit nervous about this meeting.
"You know, Tell you what. In case you're still in decision mode." Silas started, as he leaned against the large door frame that was his TARDIS. "How about we have a test run, yeah? One adventure to make up your mind. I know this one zoo, creatures from all over the universe." He gave her a rather cheeky grin, "After that, if you want to go home. I'll take you back. Safe and sound. And if you want to go on another, I'd be more than happy to oblige your curiosity of the stars."
"Magpie. Those birds are quite fascinating, have you ever seen one?"Maggie shook her head softly looking up at the slightly taller man. Jeeze, everyone was taller than her. She frowned a little. Not at him but at the concept of being condemned to being tiny forever.
"I wanted to know if you wanted to go on a bit of an adventure, or two. Maybe three."Maggie grinned rather brightly at the idea of getting off of her dad's tardis and stretching her legs a bit. "What kind of an adventure? or two? or three?"she smirked, thinking herself rather clever for that.
"You know, Tell you what. In case you're still in decision mode. How about we have a test run, yeah? One adventure to make up your mind. I know this one zoo, creatures from all over the universe." His rather cheeky grin made her smirk. Maggie could tell she was going to like this guy. "After that, if you want to go home. I'll take you back. Safe and sound. And if you want to go on another, I'd be more than happy to oblige your curiosity of the stars."
"Alright! You got yourself a deal!" she exclaimed, punching Shadow in the arm excitedly before running into the kitchen where her mother was trying to clean up her little brother. "Mum! I'm going!! Love you!!" and she quickly kissed her cheek and darted back out of the kitchen and clutch Shadow's arm and practically dragged him into his own TARDIS.
Those mismatched colored eyes stared up at him expectantly as she grinned, before looking at the console on his TARDIS and she squealed with delight as she rent up to place her hands curiously over the controls.
"It's a bit different that my Dad's.. OH~ What's this one do?"reaching for a random lever that she didn't recognize.

"What kind of an adventure? Or two? Or three?" At that Shadow knew that they were going to get along just fine. He grinned back at his young granddaughter, "Well, hopefully, they'll be the kind of adventures you'll never forget." He made a short quick nod towards his TARDIS, that grin on his face growing all the more. "So, what do you say? Are you in, or what?" Okay, sure, he was very confident that she was coming along. In fact, Silas was almost willing to stake his favorite hat on that confidence. Not that he was going to voice that stake, just on the off chance that he was wrong.
"Alright!" The Magpie exclaimed happily, as she suddenly punched his arm in her excitement. "You got yourself a deal!" As she ran off to tell her mother her decision, Silas took a moment to baby his now slightly sore muscle. "I really hope I'm not getting to old for this..." With a shake of his head, he continued "Nah, me? Getting too old for adventures? That's impossible."
Maria was gently wiping off the chocolate from Mark's face with a warm wet rag, as she heard Maggie enter the kitchen. "Mum! I'm going!! Love you!!" Maria quickly hugged her daughter as she kissed her cheek. "Maggie, try to keep in contact with us, alright? Check in once in awhile, so your father and I don't worry to much. Alright?" She smiled at her, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "Stay safe, and remember... Have fun." Maria placed a quick kiss onto Maggie's forehead, before letting her go to make sure Mark didn't try to wiggle off the counter.
Silas smiled at Magpie as she ran back into the room, about to ask if she was already to go. When she grabbed his arm and without missing a step, headed straight into his ship. Not wanting to fall over and end up hurting either of them, he quickly kept the pace. The grin on his face growing as he watched her fawned over the control console. "Like her? She's a old TARDIS, but she's one of the more pleasant ones." He explained, as he gave a light shrug. "At least out of her model, anyway." He gave the center column a gentle pat, as the ship hummed sweet tones through the console room. "Most TARDIS's don't have a name, well... Technically they don't. However, I call her Nadia. So, Nadia meet Magpie, I have a feeling you two will get along." Hopefully, anyway.
"It's a bit different that my Dad's.. OH~" Magpie started, before suddenly getting distracted by one of the levers. "What's this one do?" She asked as she reached for it.
"Pull it, find out, and experiment. If it's something dangerous, either I, or Nadia will step in." Silas explained, as he stepped away from the controls. "If you'd like, try to get her started up. I have to go check on someone real quick." He ruffled her hair before starting to head up the spiral staircase that circled around the control platform. "If you're stuck on what to do, ask Nadia, she'll do her best to help you out. Won't you Nadia?" To which his TARDIS responded by gently blowing cool air onto his head, automatically ruffling his hair. He gave his granddaughter a salute before continuing up the stair to search for his wife.
After maybe ten minutes, he had found her in the kitchen. Quietly he walked up behind her, and suddenly placed his hands on her hips, placing a kiss on her shoulder. "Good morning," Silas greeted her with a grin, "I have a surprise for you, in the control room. If you'd like to meet her."
She was diligently fixing a late breakfast in the kitchen, stopping only to wring her hands nervously in her apron. Her husband, Silas, had gone to pick up his grand daughter, Maggie. Sandra had butterflies in her stomach. What if Maggie didn't like her? She took a deep breath and wiped her hands on her apron and tucked her blond hair behind her ear. Breakfast had been done for nearly fifteen minutes and Sandra was just pacing in the kitchen. There was something else on her mind and she needed to tell Silas. But.. Well, it was complicated. How does one just announce to their husband that they think they might be pregnant?
"Good morning,"
Sandra nearly jumped out of her skin as she felt his hands rest on her hips and press a kiss to her shoulder. She smiled warmly and turned in his arms to meet her eyes to his and kissed the tip of his nose. "Morning Silas."
"I have a surprise for you, in the control room. If you'd like to meet her."
"Of course! I'd love to meet her. But.. I think I should tidy up a little first, I'm such a dreadful mess." She was referring to the face her apron was a bit roughed up from cooking and her hair needed to be re-brushed and smoothed back out. A shower probably wouldn't hurt either. "I fixed breakfast if the two of you are hungry." she chirped and playfully adjusted the collar of his shirt.
