Romana and K-9 walked through the vast fields outside of the Gateway. The winds blew soft air around her that made her blonde strands whip around her wildly. She did enjoy her strolls along the gorgeous fields, it let her think and gave her space from the Tharils. A few minutes into her walk K-9 had stopped sudden and made some noises to himself before speaking up.
"Mistress, I sense the TARDIS," He said with a movement of his ears and a turn on his rollers.
Romana stopped to turn and look at K-9, wondering if his calculations were off or once of his circuits was out of line again."The TARDIS? Don't be silly, the Doctor left years ago he couldn't come back for us, you know it as much as I,"She said to him.
"The TARDIS is in range, 10 steps to the north, past the mountains,"He said and without hestiation, rolled off to the north without another word. Romana sighed before following K-9, still skeptically of the Doctor ever returning back to E-Space, though something in the back of her mind said differently.
Past the mountains as K-9 had said, she soon heard the familiar boom of the TARDIS landing on the grass and the lantern blink in and out before going dark. She was amazed, excited, and curious all at the same time as she made herself down the mountain and toward the TARDIS. She supposed that K-9's circuits weren't out of wack and the Doctor really had returned, even if a few years in advanced.
"Your right, K-9! It's the Doctor! The Doctor is back!," She said as she pat the metal dog's head with a smile as she looked up at the grand blue box.
The Doctor had been off on all sorts of adventures through time in space since the last time he'd been in E-Space. He and Adric had met Nyssa and Tegan, The Doctor fell off a radio dish, regenerated, had more adventures. Adric unfortunately died in a Cyberman plot. Tegan left the TARDIS, he and Nyssa traveled for a long while, Tegan came back, and here they were. Nyssa and Tegan had elected to stay in Amsterdam for a few days while The Doctor fixed the TARDIS.
Of course, that ended up meaning that he bounced around all time and space a bit, suddenly ending up in E-Space again. Or so the scanners would have him believe. The blonde Doctor looked at the screen, tilted his head, glared at it, trying to make sense of this.
"Why have you taken me here old girl?" The Doctor asked, still not putting it all together, "Well, I suppose you must have had your reason. I'd better go see what's going on outside."
He did just that, hitting the door control and heading out to see what was out, and happened to be right in front of his face. A fellow blonde, fellow Time Lord for that matter, and a metal dog. A smile crossed his face as The Doctor spoke.
"Romana! What are you doing here? I hope you haven't been waiting for me all this time. Or have I not been gone at all?"
She smiled as she seen the door slowly open up, it felt like ages as she watched excited to see her silly Doctor, with his silly scarf and his jelly babies. She could imagine him seeing her, putting on that goofy smile, possible exchange of a warm hug and stories of his adventures. It was when the door opened and finally revealed the Doctor when shocked crossed over her face. It didn't look like the Doctor but her senses said differently.
The man before her was blonde, much different than the Doctor's old brunette curls. He had no scarf but wore something that resembled an old Earth cricket outfit with an attached....celery? Odd. She thought to herself but not unlike the Doctor to pick odd things for his outfits.
She approached him slowly looking at him over before her look of surprised changed to that of happiness and she smiled at him.
"Look at you! Blonde hair and a younger face,"She said with a laugh as she looked him over,"Odd sense of clothes, Doctor but I do miss your scarf. I must ask about the celery though. Does this regeneration have a thing for vegetables as a fashion statement."She said as she looked at him."So how are you? How's Adric? Its been ages since I last saw you,"
The Doctor inspected Romana, still wearing the face of a Princess from a distant planet, that was good, it meant that she had not regenerated again, and that put him at great ease. Unfortunately for The Doctor, he'd clearly had it much rougher than Romana.
Smiling back to her though, he nodded at her observations, "Well, much more eloquently put compared to my future self, though that might because there's no time differential shorting out." Just recently, The Doctor and his TARDIS had crashed into a future version of the TARDIS, and his mouthy future incarnation with the gelled hair and mouth that never seemed to stop or slow down.
"And, might I say, you look well as well Romana, have you lost weight? Gotten your hair cut?" He tilted his head, "Perhaps it's just that we're closer to eye level now."
Chuckling a bit, he ducked down and greeted his other companion, "Hello K-9, have you been taking care of Romana?" That was when the Time Lady mentioned Adric. Slowly, The Doctor rose and lowered his head, "Adric, was killed during a Cybermen plot. I," he paused, pinching the bridge of his nose, "I couldn't extract him before it was too late."
Romana had to giggle at the thought of the Doctor have gelled hair in any one of his future regenerations and being a blabber mouth. Well, the Doctor always had been a earful but if this Doctor is complaining about his future self being a blabber mouth... She could imagine how worse this regeneration could be compared to the one she knew.
"You seem like quite the person in the future." She said smiling before becoming flattered at the words she had really heard come from the Doctor nor she though she would ever hear. This regeneration was a lot more kinder and more of a gentleman than she knew him as.
"Either. Just the same old Romanadrovatrelundar!," she said with a smile."Though I suppose I could have lost a little weight. Running around E-Space and helping the Tharils."
K-9's ears waggled as the Doctor pat his head and he nodded his robotic head."Affirmative, Master."
Upon hearing the news her hearts dropped in her chest and she put a hand on the Doctor's shoulder,"I am sorry.... He was such a good boy." She said to him simply, silently mourning the loss of a very good boy, one she had grown fond of in the short time she knew him.
