Name: Tristain Atticus Keâts
Alias: Trist, Atti
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Species: ½ Dulcian, ¼ Karlaithyan, ¼ Time Lord
Planet of Origin: Earth
Occupation: Baker
Physical Description: At first glance, most people would simply dismiss Tristain as a short and thin teenage boy. He looks as though a good stiff breeze would get the best of him. And it probably would. Having hollow bones, Tritain is deceptively lightweight. He appears as though he should weigh about 145 lbs when in fact he only wights 92 lbs. But he isn't underweight at all. For a Dulcian, he is actually quite fit with a light muscle tone.
Upon closer inspection, Tristain has a pair of green eyes that are inhumanly bright and pale, with an almost golden iridescent sheen in the light. His skin is almost ghostly pale cream complexion with fair blonde hair in a soft shaggy mess atop his head. He speaks with a smooth and softly spoken English accent, with only slight hints of French influence with the way he enunciates certain words.
His attire is what most refer to is dressy casual. Long sleeve button down dress shirts, with the first three buttons undone, denim jeans, and a black and silver rosary that he never takes off.
Personality:
- Awkward: Tristain gets along with people easily enough, but most social behaviors are lost on him and he tends to get easily confused when dealing with people. He comes across as shy and clumsy with his words, and apologizes a lot, even when something isn't his fault or had nothing to do with him. But despite his awkward nature, Tristain will still try his best to engage in conversation if he feels he has something relevant to add to the conversation.
- Cheerful: Tristain always has a smile on his face. He tries to anyway. Not matter how grim the situation, Tristain will be the first to try and point out all bright sides. And if there are none, his usual reply is most often “It could always be a lost worse, you know” and offer up a worse case scenario as a grisly example to show just how lucky people really are. More often than not, this gets him hit in the face.
- Clumsy: Tristain is a bit accident prone. This can be a major issue with delicate bones. He is usually so caught up trying to fit in and be social that he forgets to watch where he's going. On more occasions that he cares to recall, he has walked into glass doors, tripped over his own feet, and once, his own dad had to stop him from walking into oncoming traffic because he was so caught up trying to tell him about his day at school.
- Flirtatious: He's a harmless flirt. He usually greets girls with a charming 'Hello, sweetheart' and a coy wink. His father was always a big flirt and he saw it as a normal part of social interaction. However, he gets completely flustered and confused when someone flirts back, not quite knowing how to react to it. Luckily, his sister, Rowan is never far behind to bail him out of a potential disaster. Strangely enough, Tristain has begun to notice that some girls are too afraid to make eye contact with him after they talk to his sister.
- Passive: Tristain doesn’t have an aggressive bone in his body. His dad often made the joke that any spunk the boy might have had was beaten out of him by his sister while still in the womb. When someone would bump his shoulder while passing him by, he would immediately apologize and ask if they were hurt. While he may be pacifistic, he does not tolerate an ill word spoken about his family, particularly his mother. He might not do something about it, himself. But he wont hesitate to let his sister, Rowan, deal with the offenders.
- Polite: Tristain is soft spoken and never has a harsh word to say about anyone. He doesn't swear, does his best not to interrupt anyone while they're speaking, is always willing to offer help, even if it isn't asked of him. He would give the shirt off his own back to a complete stranger if he thought it would help.
History:
When Trisain and his sister were born, it was obvious from the moment they took their first breaths that the two of them were as different as night and day. Tristain was pale with fair hair, Rowan was a soft peachy complexion with small tufts of dark hair clinging to her small head. When Rowan let out her first cry, she howled like a demon banshee spawn from hell, commanding the attention of everyone in the room. Tristain barely even whimpered. As they progressed and developed, Tritstain was a little slow, preferring to cling to Rina, where as Rowan was into everything.
When the twins were old enough to understand and comprehend the world around them, they learned that they shared a psychic link with each other. Rowan and Tristain could read each others thoughts and communicate without uttering a word, and felt empathy for each others emotions.
On the twin's fourth birthday, Tristain meekly requested to make cupcakes with his mother. Rina, more than happily indulged him and laid out the ingredients for him. Tristain was a natural. However, his taste in color choice needed a little refining. He insisted in using every color at his disposal. Rina was initially worried that the frosting would come out a pasty dark grey color with all the colors mixed in, But Tristain actually managed to make a rather elaborate rainbow frosting.
The first day of kindergarten, Tristain was approached by another child who made a point to inform him that his eyes were 'freaky'. Tristain's eyes watered as his lip hung in a rather pathetic pout and began apologizing to the little girl for apparently offending her. Rowan, however, did not take kindly to her brother being bullied. Just as the girl lifted her arm to shove Tristain, Rowan latched onto her arm and sank her teeth in. The more the girl howled and struggled, the deeper Rowan's teeth sank. It took four adults to finally pry her off.
But the time Tristain turned nine, he was the first to notice that his mother wasn't feeling quite herself. Rina seemed weaker than usual. Within the next few months, Tristain began playing sick to keep from having to go to school to stay with Rina. That was when his grandmother, Maggie, began visiting more often and staying to help Rina around the house. On days when Rina was feeling especially unwell, Tristain and Rowan would stay with their grandfather, Rio. But, despite Maggie's best efforts to help, before the twin's tenth birthday, Rina passed away.
Tristain is so ridden with grief, he completely shuts down and stops talking. His sister Rowan cant even get him to communicate with him on a telepathic level. To deepen Tristain's depression, Leon has no choice but to shut down Rina's bakery. While Tristain still wont speak, he begins trying to comfort his father in little ways. Writing him notes that he loves him, giving him chocolate, and stroking his face when he notices him looking sad.
It is also about the same time that his sister begins acting out, getting into fights at school and constantly getting suspended. Tristain began thinking that his sister's rebelling and his father's depression was being made worse by his silence. Slowly, little by little, Tristain began talking again. When Tristain wasn't in school, Tristain would absently go through his mother's belongings. He took a particular interest in reading through her recipe notes.
By the time Tristain enters middle school, he takes a particular interest in Home EC classes, especially regarding cooking. With practice and using his father as a guinea pig, Tristain begins to perfect his mother's recipes and inventing concoctions of his own. By the time Tristain turns fourteen, he manages to convince his father to reopen his mother's shop. He manages to do well enough on his own at first but as word speads that Rina's Ritz has reopened, Tristain finds himself overwhelmed with trying to keep up with school and running the shop. So, Tristain takes it upon himself to contact his mothers former employees and ask if they would still be interested in a job.
By the time he turns sixteen, Tristain has taken accelerated classes, and already graduated from high school and has fully taken over Rina's Ritz. But Tristain still feels a gaping wound in his hearts and finds himself seriously considering finding a way to go back in time to either find a way to save his mother or to at least tell her good bye and how much he loves her.
At age seventeen, Tristain finds his father's vortex manipulator, which used to belong to his grandmother, Maggie....
