Lights. The stage is illuminated with multicolored bulbs, creating an array of colors. Sound. An orchestra sits in the corner, ready at a moment's notice. Curtains. The red velvet drapes slide open, revealing a single man. Entertainer. The man steps onto the stage, twirling an ideal magician's black and white wand in his agile fingers. Audience. The crowd is full of different species and varieties of ethnicity. The show. The whole production coming together in a single instant. The thrill.
The Showman clapped his hands, ending the program. The walls disintegrated, and the people vanished. As wonderful as it was sitting by himself in this room, it was nothing to entertaining for real. So, he needed to leave his TARDIS. That much was obvious. The Showman grabbed a fedora and his scarf, and was immediately out the door.
The city street was covered in a glossy layer of frost, as were the humans walking in it. He had nothing against humans. They were actually a lot like Time Lords. Except for their short lifespan. And their annoying obsession with social networking. Facebook? Really? Go and talk to someone, instead of staring at a screen for hours. He was sure it wouldn't kill them.
The Showman glanced back at his TARDIS, which was currently taking the shape of an old muscle car, with blacked out windows. Fit the time period, and was old enough to where some imbecile with a wire hanger and a crowbar wouldn't try breaking into it. Good. He pulled out his wand, and began twirling it, as he set off down the road.
He wished he could say that Time Lords were also intellectually superior to humans, but he'd be lying. Some were just idiots. And there were some admirably intelligent humans on this planet. The universe never ceased to prove dominance wrong. Nobody was better than anyone. That was the way he liked it. Where he was intellectually better, and more agile, some might be tactically better, and stronger. It was just the universe's way of saying, "brains can beat brawn if you use them right".
And he definitely knew how to use them.
The Showman stopped in a park, and planted himself on a bench. If his calculations were right... Oh who was he kidding, of course they were... If they were right, something interesting should happen very soon. He didn't know what. Just that it was interesting...
"Ugh..." Emma rubbed the back of her head and stood up slowly. "Where...am I..?" She brushed herself off and noticed snowflakes in the sky and all over herself. "Snow? What?" Emma shivered and pulled her jacket tighter around her, walking out of what looked like a small alleyway.
She pulled out her cell phone and decided to call her brother. The phone rang for a few minutes, but no one picked up. She then shoved the phone back into her pocket and decided to look around.
"What in the world?" The 15 year old girl wandered around, not recognizing anything. "Why does everything look so...old?" Emma rubbed her eyes, making sure what she was seeing wasn't an illusion. She wandered around for about 45 minutes and feeling tired and confused, she decided to rest at a small park.
Emma sat down at a bench and watched people walk past her, too shy to ask where she was...Or when... She decided to ask a man that was walking by, but the man simply ignored her. "I'm so confused...."
Emma put her head in her hands and sat there hopelessly. "Where am I ?!"
The Showman noticed the girl. He noticed everyone who walked by, but he noticed her in particular. It was like a cheesy romance flick, without the cheesy romance. There was something about her that made him want to talk to her. He moved from his bench, and transferred to the one that she sat at. "It's incredibly impolite of these people just to pass you by, when you obviously need help. You're confused, and alone, and yet these people walk on by like they actually have something more important to do. Well, I think they don't. in fact, the guy you just talked to, spends all day walking around the park, and then goes home, lying to his wife that he had a great day at work, when he's been fired for a week. That woman by the lamp post? She's convinced her son is cutting school, so she skipped work to check it out. The couple over there? Honeymoon, so they're in their own little world. And then, there's me, and you. I'm an entertainer, yet I can't entertain the thought of you being confused a moment longer. I'm the Showman, and I'll answer your questions." He put forwards a hand, smiling.
Lizzie pulled her jean jacket closer around herself, embracing the cold. It was like what -500 degrees out, and Lizzie had decided to take a walk. ' Best idea ever Lizzie, lets just see if you can turn into an otter pop!' She looked around at the people passing by. They all looked cold and not in a good mood. Well it was London. People in general weren't nice in London, add frost and -500 degree weather, and you get super grumpy London people. She giggled at her own thought walking over to the park and taking out her cell phone from her pocket. She loved taking walks and all, but she just couldn't do it without keeping her mind busy. She started playing a very exciting game of Tetris.
Normally she was very god with playing Tetris and walking at the same time, but with the added frost, and nature, it got very hard. She kept tripping over rocks, or sticks, or her feet. She was finally starting to not trip every five seconds, when her foot hit an icy patch in front of her, and she fell backwards hitting the ground. " Ow..."
Emma lifted her head and looked up at The Showman, a bit surprised that anyone would talk to her at all."H-Hi...I'm Emma..."
She pulled her jacket tighter around herself and looked around at all the people walking by."This place doesn't look familiar to me at all..."
Emma put her legs up on the bench and hugged her knees tightly, still looking around, seeing if she could recognize anything. "Sorry, but do you happen to know where we are? And-" She stopped talking, realizing her question would sound crazy.
When is this? Everything looks so old...
Emma rested her head on her knees and sighed quietly, until a woman that looked like anybody else tripped and fell over. She stared for a few seconds, not sure if she should help her up, or just let her get up by herself.

The Showman would've answered her, but another woman almost comically slipped backwards on a patch of ice onto her back. He raised a finger to Emma, and walked over to Elizabeth, helping her up. "Try to look out. Ice is everywhere. It's London." The Showman looked back at Emma. "Oh, sorry, I meant, where you are. It's London. Twenty-first century. And the snow's as cold as a Silurian's blood."
He walked back to the bench, smiling. "So, Emma, what's the last thing you remember?"
"Try to look out. Ice is everywhere. It's London." Lizzie watched as he went back to the girl on the bench. She over heard a little of there conversation. ' So the girl isn't from here? Must find out more..' Lizzie casually walked away from the two, putting her cell phone back into her pocket. She then turned back around so that she would walk up behind the bench. She walked up behind the two quietly, then put her head in between them.
" Hi! Couldn't help but overhear that your not form here. Time period or something?" Lizzie climbed over the back of the bench cramming herself between the two.
" I could help if you like." Smiles widely at the two of them.
Emma stared at The Showman then at Elizabeth. "Um....""London, huh?'' Emma looked around again. "Funny. I don't recognize anything, but I live in London...." She stared up at The Showman. "A what? Silurian? Is that some sort of lizard or something?" Emma felt like she had heard that word somewhere, but she didn't know how.
"The last thing I remember...." Emma bit her lower lip and looked up in concentration. "Hmm...I think...I was walking across the street and there was this bright light. Then I ended up here..."
She shivered and pulled the hood of her jacket over her head while looking up at The Showman and Elizabeth.

"Hm... Appears to be some kind of temporal fluctuation. Snatched you out of your time, and deposited you here." He looked at the girl he helped up, and offered a hand. "I'm the Showman." He was trying to decide if he should just return her to her regular time period, or simply pretend like he didn't know how to get her back. She could end up not wanting to leave his TARDIS, and then he'd have to be hostile, and.... He'd rather not.
" Elizabeth Edwards" She shook the Showmans hand. " Temporal flux? I'm guessing that is all timey whimy and hard to explain. So.." Turns back to the Showman. " Are you a Time Lord or something. Because only Time Lords don't have actually names, only titles. Which I for one think is very stupid." Turns back to Emma. " If anyone can get you back to your own time. It's a Time Lord." Smiles innocently.
Emma looked at The Showman, to Elizabeth, then back at The Showman with a confused expression on her face. "A Time Lord? What are you talking about?!"
She began to grow even more confused at what they were talking about and hid her face in her hands. "I never thought I'd say this, but I wannna go home...."
Emma sighed and rested her head back on her knees. "Where you guys from anyway?"
