Evelyn woke up to the sound of Romeo and Juliet being rehearsed below her, for the thousandths time. She dragged herself off of her blanket and stared out of her hole to the people walking below. She then walked over to her brush, and quickly brushed her tangled blonde hair. She pulled on her light blue jean jacket, and pulled herself through her hole, to the roof above. She walked over to the fire escape, and climbed to the alley below. She put her hands in her pockets and walked to the side walk to join the crowd.
Feeling her stomach grumble, she decided to get something to eat. But first she needed some money. She spotted a man walking briskly from across the street. Thinking that he is the perfect target, Eve ran over to him almost knocking him over. " Oh! I'am so sorry sir. I didn't see you there." Eve tried helped the man regain his balance. " Watch were you're walking girl!" The man walked away. Eve smirked to herself. " Missing something?" Accidentally she said that too loud, and the man quickly checked his pockets to see that his wallet was gone. He turned around to face Evelyn, who was now running as fast as she could the other way. " Stop thief!" The man ran after Eve.
Eve ducked through the people trying to escape the man. She saw a alley way, and quickly ran in it to hide. Luckily the man didn't see her go in, so he ran right pass the entrance. Eve let out a sigh of relief and slumped against the wall panting.
A series of lights and switches continued blinking on and off, accompanied by an annoyingly insistent beeping sound that resonated throughout the TARDIS console room. The bent form of the Doctor was working at one of the six panels on the hexagonal console, grumbling to himself as he tried to get the noise to stop. "Why are you kicking up such a fuss, Old Girl? Nothing is 'unstable' as you seem to think." He had no idea why this was happening. Perhaps he'd somehow incorrectly re-wired one of the circuit boards for the lights during his attemtps to get the TARDIS working before the Time Lords lifted his exile to Earth. But it seemed unlikely to him, which was frankly annoying. "Oh come on!" He slammed his fist on the top of the panel, close to the time rotor. Suddenly the beeping noise blessedly ceased and was replaced by the TARDIS' materialisation noise.
"Oh. Good. Thank you." A little surprised at how easy that had been, the Doctor made sure his ship's landing was a smooth one, in case it caused any other technological annoyances. Thankfully there were none, and the vworp vworp stopped with a thump as the TARDIS landed. The Doctor hit the switch on the console to open the doors, then headed towards and out of them as he smoothed down his navy blue velvet smoking jacket. Closing the police box doors behind him, the Time Lord stepped out to see where he had landed now. A quick look confirmed that it was a rather unimpressive alleyway, and that he was not alone.
"Hello there," he said to the girl leaning against the wall. While attempting to make conversation with her, he was hoping that she had somehow only just entered the alley as the TARDIS appeared, and that she hadn't seen the strange sight of a police box appearing out of thin air. "Are you alright? You look lost."
Eve finally relaxed her heavy breathing, when a strange looking police box appeared in thin air, and a man wearing what looked like seventy's clothing walked out. "Hello there," Eve was surprised at how calm she felt. " Hi " Eve pushed herself away from the wall to face the strange man. "Are you alright? You look lost." Eve walked closer to the man. There was something off about him, she could sense it.... " I'am fine. I was just doing a little jogging. Who are you?" Eve looked at him more closely. There was defiantly something not quite right about him. She just couldn't put her finger on it. " Theres something off about you. You don't feel right. Are you a alien?" Eve walked around the man trying to find out what he was, or why he was there.
Well if the girl had seen the TARDIS materialising in the alleyway, she was certainly doing a good job of hiding any surprise at it. She returned the Doctor's greeting as if he was a normal passerby that would say hello to anyone they walked by. It was one of the more...accepting reactions at the time machine that the Time Lord had received. Then again, he was speaking to a girl. Perhaps she was young enough to still have the child-like mind which was more open than that of an adult. Although it looked as if she was in the teenage years where she could grow out of it. Children were always ready to accept new, amazing, unexplainable sigths, while adults either had to know how something had happened or shout at it while thinking they were going mad. If anyone was going to have seen a dimensionally transcedental box appear from thin air, the Doctor was glad it had been a child.
"There's something off about you. You don't feel right. Are you a alien?"
Hearing that, he took a moment to blink in shock at the girl. He might have worn funny gloves and had a lot of hair, but there was nothing about his appearance to suggest he was an alien. At least, he hoped so. So how had this young girl suddenly somehow known he wasn't human? "Er...yes, I am. An alien, that is," he nodded. He looked round as she walked around him, peering at her. "I'm the Doctor. Who might you be, my dear?"
"Er...yes, I am. An alien, that is," he nodded. He looked round as she walked around him, peering at her. "I'm the Doctor. Who might you be, my dear?"Eve stopped in front of the Doctor. " My name is Evelyn Porter." Eve Stared more intensely at the Doctor. She couldn't figure it out but there was something, not quite right with him. " What are you? I know your a alien, but what kind? I need to figure you out..." Eve walked behind the Doctor, and paused there for a second. Her brain was working at a hundred miles an hour. She continued walking, and stopped in front of the Doctor once more. She gasped in excitement. She finally figured out who he was! " Your a Time. Lord., aren't you."
Sierra sighed as she started to walk by an alleyway, but then something catches her attention: an old man and a younger girl standing together with a Blue Police Box in an alleyway. Curious of what was going on, she walked over to the two of them. "Um...Hello..." Sierra looked at the old man, then at the younger girl and raised her eyes to the Police Box. "Sorry...It's just that that Police box..." Sierra shrugs and looks back to them. "Sorry..."
"Good to meet you, Evelyn," the Doctor answered when the little girl told him her name. "Do you mind if I call you Eve for short?"
"What are you? I know your a alien, but what kind? I need to figure you out...Your a Time. Lord., aren't you."
Somewhat suddenly, the Doctor began a feeling of worry in his mind. He'd only just arrived in this alleyway, guessing it was on Earth, and a little girl had somehow been able to tell not just that he wasn't human, but also his species. And just by looking at him. That was an ability he hadn't ever really seen before. Now he wanted to know why Evelyn had it, and hoped that it wasn't a danger to anyone or anything. "How do you know that?" he asked, his tone carrying the weight of the question's importance. "How can you possibly tell what species I am, when I look no different than any other human?"
"Um...Hello...Sorry...It's just that that Police box...Sorry..."
It was only when he heard her voice that the Doctor realised another girl had entered the alley. Giving a small sigh of irritation as his enquiry was interrupted, he turned to look at her, frowning a little as she apologised for some reason. "Whatever are you sorry for?" he asked. "And what about that police box?" Was there something strange about this girl two? Maybe she and Eve somehow knew each other. What was going on here?
" I dont mind if you call me that." Eve looked at the Time Lord with her head tilted to the side when he asked her how she knew what species he was. Well she would tell him, except she didnt rightly know. " I would tell you. But I dont really know how I know that, it just came to mind." Eve turned her head to the new girls voice. She studied her for a second, shes nevrr seen her around before. " Hello there. I'am Evelyn Porter."
Sierra looked at the old man in strange clothes. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything..." She couldn't help but stare at the Police Box curiously. She then turned and looked at the other girl. "I haven't seen you around here either... I'm Sierra." She smiled at Evelyn but then stepped back a little since she was embarrassed from intruding on their conversation.
Sierra looked back at the Police Box. "It looks really familiar..." Sierra squinted her eyebrows slightly. "Hey.....I've been in this alleyway so many times...Since when was that here?" She pointed to the Police Box.
Alright, so Eve didn't know this new girl who had just arrived and was calling herself Sierra. Frankly though, the Doctor was hoping that the latter would soon leave so he could return to the potentially very important matter at hand. But it didn't look as though that would happen. So here he was, stuck in an alleyway with two young girls. One of them could tell he was a Time Lord just by looking at him, and the other...thought the police box looked familiar? How was that possible?
"Well, I don't know," he lied in answer to Sierra's question. "I've never been in this alleyway before, I just thought the box was here for decoration." It was only as he told the lie that he realised Eve probably knew the truth, perhaps even seen the TARDIS materialise. He hoped that she wouldn't tell Sierra that, though. The sooner he could get out of this, the better.
"Well, I don't know," he lied in answer to Sierra's question. "I've never been in this alleyway before, I just thought the box was here for decoration." Eve looked at the Doctor as he said the lie. Clearly he was trying to get rid of the new girl by making her bored with a lie. " That's what I thought. The box was here when I first arrived. Maybe your thinking of something else. This is London, and we do have Police Box's here." She looked at the police box then at the entrance of the ally way. " Perhaps you should check elsewhere, for the police box that you did see." Eve looked at Sierra then at the Doctor, hoping that she didn't ruin the whole lie thing. She wasn't especially good at it.
Sierra raised an eyebrow at what they were claiming. "Um...There aren't any police boxes here..." She looked around, just to make sure. "Yup, no other police boxes other than-"She hoped she wasn't being rude in any way, so she interrupted herself and bit her lower lip.
Sierra examined the police box. "Sorry. I was just wondering what a police box was doing in an alleyway...Just curious.."
"But I still feel like I've seen it before..." Sierra continued to stare at the police box.
